  • I still think many of her nerfs should be reverted. Especially the Terror Radius and the endgame nerfs.

They really hurt Pig back in the day.

  • @DeBecker said:

Instead of trying to fix some issues, they completely went nuts again. In addition to every stealth nerf through out the last years (massive influx of aura read perks vs massive nerfs of stealth perks) they completely sealed off any possibility to play stealthy as survivor who arent good loopers, whom is the most part of the playerbase. Just another pretty good job on killing variation on survivor builds. Those changes are beyond understanding.

    This.

I don't even think the Distortion nerf was a terrible change, but I don't like how stealth is constantly the target for nerfs and unnecessary changes.

  • It just makes the game worse for everyone involved. Outside of very specific scenarios, players should tough it out if the match isn't going their way.

After all, there is always a chance to turn the tables and win.

  • Let me guess, a content creator said it was meta?

  • They can, yes.

But should they make the match miserable for everyone else? I don't think so.

Susie going vrrroom sounds right up my alley! I like the idea of stealth Demo. Entity knows I have never actually played him since I bought him years back. This could be a good build to try to get into him. The Doc buold soinds exciting! Do you know if using Dark Devotion and Unforeseen grants two separate Terror Radii at once, or must it be chosen? This one sounds like it can bring lots of chaos.

I've yet to play Knight! Is he easy to pick up? I've heard he can he a bit buggy, unless that's been fixed. His guards do seem like fun though :)

Knight has a few bugs, yes, but he is pretty fun!

I don't think he is hard to pick up, but I started playing him during the first Lights Out event, and survivors had a lot of disadvantages during that event.

  • A fun little build I like to use is the Spooky Knight build.

It is funny because you don't expect it to work, since… well, Knight is loud. But you'd be surprised how often people just don't pay attention to the loud metal footsteps.

You can basically go with whatever you want here as long as you manage to remove your TR, but my favorite is the Town Watch's Torch. Send your guards to work then try to sneak up on someone else! It can be really fun.

  • I really liked original Sadako because she lacked anti-loop, and I think the game back then was already in severe need of moving away from anti-loop killers.

People may have dismissed her as a weak killer, but I honestly think her original version was better for the game than the other two. Things just got very confusing after her first rework, and now, she is just in a weird spot that doesn't seem to leave her dedicated mains satisfied.

The problem is that the killer doesn't have that many perk slots. It's exactly 4. Weaker killers don't need other perks than stronger killers, they need additional ones. Meaning, a stronger killer will get to play with a good build and deal with such strong loops, while a M1 killer will can either play with such a strong build or deal with those loops. They can't do both. This doesn't mean that a M1 killer can't win but that they are at a significant disadvantage.

I agree that good loops are necessary to deal with killers that already have powerful chase abilities. I just wish that M1 killers didn't always get the short end of the stick. On top of being reliant on certain perks more than other killers, they are also expected to equip additional perks for something that stronger killers can deal with either way.

Also, I'm not sure that there are more unsafe than safe loops. Most main buildings (even the ones that aren't as powerful) are safe, TL walls, if played correctly are damn strong, jungle gyms are safe, all shacks are safe, variant gyms are about 50/50 between safe and unsafe, all filler loops on Eyrie of Crows are safe (literally all of them have check spots), all filler loops on GoJ are safe and connected to other strong loops, most loops on the McMillan maps are safe, the same goes for Autohaven Wreckers, all loops on The Game are ungodly safe (there is exactly one pallet, that is weak and even that can become strong if you chain it)... I could go on but you get the idea. Survivors have LOTS of strong loops.

The issue is, that on some maps you have tons of those and on others you have 2 good loops and 4 useless loops (Haddonfield comes to mind). Ironically the maps with good loops usually have large amounts of resources while those with terrible loops have very few.

M1 killers are typically quite bad at zoning too by virtue of being M1 killers. If they don't have a power to support them in chase, they have no way to zone a survivor, if the loop they are on isn't useless already. In which case, why would you zone them? On a jungle gym a M1 killer in general has no way to zone. As long as you have some distance or a wall between you and the killer, they are no threat to you (other than Doctor, whom I wouldn't consider weak against jungle gyms either way), so you don't need to leave a loop and there is nothing they can do about it. I mean, what are they supposed to do? Come from 2 directions at once? If you aren't playing Dredge or Twins, this isn't possible and those 2 have little trouble dealing with jungle gyms.

Leaving is also something that works in theory but typically not for M1 killers. Most of them have one thing in common. They don't have great mobility, so if they leave a survivor, it will take a while for them to actually get to another. And what is to stop them from running to the same safe set up, that you just came from? You can of course try to cut them off but most survivors run exhaustion perks that allow them to get extra distance which they can use to run around you. And if that doesn't work, then they still have the opportunity to use the speed boost after a hit to get there. Are you going to leave them again? Sure, you got them away from a gen and they will need to heal, so you have slowed down the game but you haven't actually progressed. Meaning, you are still in a worse spot than you were before. The next problem is that you also don't get to use your slowdown perks, if you don't progress. This is a downwards spiral.

Leaving is also something that works in theory but typically not for M1 killers. Most of them have one thing in common. They don't have great mobility, so if they leave a survivor, it will take a while for them to actually get to another.

Funnily enough, I think this is where Freddy is the exception.

Knowing when to drop chase has always been an extremely important skill for Freddy mains, which they absolutely had to learn. First it was because of the map control playstyle, now it is because you have to drop some chases or you will lose the game.

And thankfully your power allows you to get away. If not with the old Dream World slowdown + aura reading, then with the current teleport.

I'm not even sure 5 seconds would be enough at this point.

I think something that might help as well is having more killer perks that actively encourage spreading hooks similar to old BBQ and Pain Res. They could even go as far as to add that old Ruin downside that the perk deactivates once a survivor is dead and can no longer be used (I still think they should have kept that and buffed Ruin's regression speed back to 200%).

Maybe it wouldn't be enough, but I think it would help. DS being a powerful was basically the only punishment keeping tunneling at bay for a long time.

Together with BBQ's existence, of course.

If we do a poll or just gather players opinion in general this is NOT the reality for the majority of the playerbase. In fact a lot more people love wesker than the objectively poorly designed abominations that are skull merchant, knight and the like.

Which is evident as after sm release I doubt bhvr will ever release a trap killer or a gimmick knight like killer again, and thats good, they learned.

If we do a poll or just gather players opinion in general this is NOT the reality for the majority of the playerbase.

I know. This isn't the first unpopular opinion I have and it certainly won't be the last.

But we often express our feelings towards the game in here. And there isn't a killer I hate more than Wesker.

A horrible character that I would love to never see again.

  • I agree that he needs a nerf, but I think Wolf form and hellfire are worse than bat form.

  • Trickster is indeed miserable to play against, our tier lists have that in common.

Nemesis. (My zombies were mostly doing their usual "Wow, this corner sure is interesting. Hey, is that a completed gen over there? Let's check it out." routine.)

Nemesis? Probably not the worst possible option, but not ideal either.

I got that map as Freddy earlier today and the sheer amount of pallets I had to go through was just unreal.

  • Reverting DS back to 5 seconds would be a good start. There needs to be some counter to tunneling otherwise it spirals out of control.

It is possible to sweat while doing the event... Going into the void, hitting pumpkins. There are challenges to complete that should be challenging anyway, hence why they are called challenges

But none of them requires players to sweat or make the game as miserable as possible.

    Annoying? I honestly love them!

I wouldn't mind them so much if scratch marks didn't stay disappeared. I didn't play much killer, and the match where I was getting repeatedly smoke bombed was when I was trying to do the "down survivors for energy" challenge and I was on The Game map. Maybe it was just the perfect storm. The Game map isn't great in general.

Yeah, it is probably the map's fault. The Game is awful for most killers. Which killer were you playing?

Same In my 20ish games today I saw 2 killers even go in to the realm and it was to chase someone they where tunneling down. Where I would go in with a full bar and get my 5k points for 2 smoke bombs in a row.

I've had a few killers who participated in the event, but there are few of them. It is really unfortunate because this event is extremely fun, so players should enjoy it as much as possible.

Majority of my event matches, survivors don’t even enter the event realm.

Funnily enough, in my experience killers are the ones who are barely interacting with the event.

I have played with and against countless survivors who used the smoke bombs, but I have also played against killers who didn't interact with the event at all. They weren't even smashing pumpkins!

The event queue is for grabbing crystals and throwing them down and strumming the lute as the smoke clears like I'm at a rock concert. Survivors doing anything else are playing it wrong.

I did the killer Tome challenges yesterday and was amused with releasing the haunt. It's pretty fun to use. Not sure it makes up for how annoying the smoke bombs are, but I'm surprised I don't see the haunts more when I'm playing survivor. I don't understand why a killer would even bother with the event queue if they're not going to enjoy the event and the toy it gives them, because the smoke bombs are annoying.

    Annoying? I honestly love them!

  • @Prometheus1092 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/431064/event-sweat

I been playing survivor more during the event, seen a few killers help with BP and challenges. I thought ye I'll do that, why not? I went killer, let all survivors win and farm BP... I got BM post match. "Bad killer" "l2p" "noob"

This is probably why killers are thinking why bother being nice, going to get BM regardless so at least give them a reason to give BM by getting the 4k.

But if people want to play as sweaty as possible, then they should not choose the event queue.

The whole point of choosing the event queue is to interact with the event. Sweating during an event just makes the game miserable for everyone involved.

  • This isn't a bad idea, I would support it.

  • I would be up for the challenge, but I think playing current Freddy perkless will be a miserable experience.

  • He isn't pay to win, in my honest opinion, he is just extremely unfun to go against and poorly designed.

Because anytime they made a killer have a power that is not anti-loop, survivors also complained. This is why they nerfed and reworked:

    • Pinhead box (his current power isn't the best because you have to play him like nurse, and even then you only gain a very very slight amount of distance)
    • Sadako
    • Pig (although recently she finally got her chase power to be at least slightly better)
    • Old Skull Merchant
    • Current Knight (Who i suspect they will nerf again because people already complain about his ability to "chase" 2 different survivors)
    • Old Singularity (who recently got turned into more anti-loop)
    • Twins
    • Blight

They tried multiple times throughout time and many nearly in a row to release killers like blight, pinhead, sadako, knight, skull merchant and so on who were not mainly anti-loop killers. Who had to be countered by ways other than vaulting windows and dropping pallets, and what happened? Survivors complained and complained until most of these were either reworked or nerfed because the second you ask survivors to do something other than hold m1 on a gen to counter a killer, all hell breaks loose.

So if they can't make killers about map control because survivors complain about: blight, pinhead, sadako, knight, skull merchant

And they can't make killers about anti-loop because survivors complain about: dracula, lich, chucky, nurse, clown etc.

If they don't give killers anti-loop, they need to give them some way to slow the game down, or speed up the chases. By definition, speeding up chases is basically anti-loop. So you must then slow the game down some other means, but anytime survivors are forced to do that (by being forced to do tapes against sadako, or be ready to go for boxes against pig) they complain

Then exactly what kind of killer is fun at this point? What are the top 3 killers you LIKE going against?

I think anything beats anti-loop, at this point. They are usually the worst ones to go against.

  • It wouldn't hurt to have a second witch in the game, plus I think she is a better fit than the other characters here.

I don’t like facing it and with it wasn’t meta as well since I too prefer the Hide-n-Seek aspect over chase. But as you said, it doesn’t need a nerf.

I do wish they’d revert SpineChills to its pre-nerf state so it would be less tedious to face.

    Same, friend. Same.

Never understood why they nerfed Spine Chill to the ground.

These affect the game in completely different ways, why are you even comparing them? Because it's the same time increase?

Felt like they were worth mentioning.

  • My favorite map has always been Léry's. I loved the creepy hospital atmosphere that map used to have, and it'll always be my favorite, no matter how much the map changes.

As for my least favorite map… Dead Dawg Saloon. It is way too small and it barely has anything. I hate it.

  • Neither gens nor hooks should've gotten the 10 seconds increase, imo. Things were fine the way they were.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

And to run back to the hook after they get the unhook notification.

I thought people wanted to promote healthy play styles, as in chases since many on here exclaimed that’s the most fun thing about the game. Now that Killers are able to get into chases faster no one wants to take part.

The only problem, my dear friend, is that players who prefer hide and seek over chases (me) aren't exactly thrilled to see Lethal Pursuer almost every game.

I don't think it needs a nerf, just wish it wasn't meta.

  • My prediction, and wish, is a total Wesker death.

  • Yes, especially Rancid Abattoir. That map is usually terrible for survivors.

  • Congrats, my dear friend! 4 years of talking about this game that will always mean a lot to us!

Where was it confirmed OG Freddy isn't coming back? I am hoping we get something closer to a blend of new Freddy's "he can use powers to effect survivors in the dream world" and old Freddy's "The dream world is oppressive and survivors want to wake up asap, but Freddy is weak if survivors can stay awake". I really hope they take inspiration from the void and make Freddy able to teleport survivors and himself into a separate dream world to 1v1 them. Or add fake gens, fake totems, etc. in the dream world, etc. Point is new freddy's dream world is really wimpy especially since the slowdown addons got removed and puddles and pallets were both nerfed. He also no longer sees asleep survivors auras, which I thought made him great for target-switching and juggling survivors mid-chase to keep people off gens.

I don't want a straight revert to old Freddy because he was unhealthy for the game even though I enjoyed his playstyle, but I want a rework to take at least a few design ideas from old Freddy with a dream world survivors actively want to stay out of. Also, Freddy needs to not have his aura shown to awake survivors. He turns invisible when he's far enough away from them, but his aura can still be read if the survivor is awake which is really bizarre. (Old Freddy didn't have that problem. Not sure if it's just a bug/oversight or intentional design choice.)

As you said I do think they're going to combine puddles and pallets at the very least, it's dumb we have killers like Clown and Vecna who have multiple powers they can swap between mid-match, but Freddy has to bring an addon to REPLACE his puddles with pallets, which means if you prefer pallets you effectively have 1 addon slot with Freddy. I also think his teleport might be changed.

I also suspect his addons are getting HEAVILY reworked. Freddy's addons are almost all garbage, like "Show a survivor's aura when they fail a skill check when asleep" or "fake pallets, when dropped, show the survivor's aura for 1/2/3 extra seconds" etc. He has a few good/fun addons (red paint brush, black box, pill bottle, although pill bottle is more of a silly addon then a serious one) but so many of his addons are filler or not useful.

Also, Freddy's lullaby in the dream world might need some tweaks. Paradoxically, a Freddy running a full stealth build is actually at a disadvantage if survivors stay asleep, as the lullaby is not effected by the terror radius perks. Survivors are oblivious, which means they don't hear the TR, but the lullaby still gives a 32 meter radius of perception. Maybe some of the addons could effect his lullaby.

Where was it confirmed OG Freddy isn't coming back?

    image.png

I wish I could have been spared the heartbreak.

I don't think I deserved it. I always did my best for Freddy, I swear to you I did.

Also sorry @GeneralV for your games. I can tell it’s been a rough 24 hrs.

To be honest, my dear friend, I actually had good games before that crash.

Generally speaking I was very satisfied with the game before being informed that my favorite killer isn't returning in January. This Haunted by Daylight event is the most fun I've had with the game since the days of Old DBD.

  • At this point I do not know what to expect.

For a long time I was certain that my favorite killer would return, but the developers have already confirmed that it isn't happening.

So now I genuinely don't know. I am lost.

  • I think we can say OP was made for this!

  • I believe all of her recent nerfs should be reverted.

It is clear at this point that the petty DCs and hook suicides will not stop regardless of how weak she is. I've seen it myself yesterday, even when the SM was playing fair and trying to interact with the event.

So we might as well leave her playable until the rework next year.

on a side note, I remember there was this day where I had the ultimate horrible DBD day of basically not escaping for like countless games in a row in soloQ and then finally, FINALLY had a perfect game where I got a few gens done (I think most of the games prior to it were like 4K at 4/5 gens lol), unhooked most of my teammates, saves a few with for the people and got a few slugs up with my boon expo, even lasted 15 seconds in chase (trust me, for me that is practically as rare as a 5 gen chase lol) and got away…

All the way to the exit!

    then the connection cut.
