Well, I think that settles it.
Thanks for the comments and opinions, friends! I appreciate it.
I hope I get some better games today (and survivors who don't know that entering a portal will end the Knight's Guard hunts because that is really annoying).
And when the next event drops, which should be the Winter event after the 2v8 modifier, hopefully they won't split the queues again. It is not clearly not having the intended effect.

Are you a remake fan, my friend? Do you like the original Robert films?
Oh, I absolutely am a remake fan, my dear friend!
It is not only my favorite ANOES movie, it is one my favorite movies of all time! I love it!
As for the original movies, I've watched them all and I must say I have mixed feelings towards them.
The first one is very good, but I don't like Freddy as a silly character. I think it looks bad. Some people like the mix of horror and comedy, but for me that doesn't really work.
In my opinion, one of the best things about the remake is how dark and sinister Freddy is.

Ik he’s weak af and power is meh especially for him but the dreamworld, laughing when survivors are asleep, his knife glove and dream pallets are enough for me at least to not be totally dissatisfied as Freddy.
Fair enough, I can understand that.
-
I try my best to avoid tunneling, because I know how unfun it feels as survivor.
However, out of those 4 survivor stereotypes the flashlight user is the most likely to put themselves in dangerous situations, which means they'll have more chases than the others.
And that doesn't always end well for the survivor.
-
The sad thing about Haddonfield is the fact that it was never really balanced.
First it was unfair for killers, now it is unfair for survivors. Even during the original map adjustments before the big reworks, also known as the peak of DBD's map design, Haddonfield was a problem.

Old dbd was harder for Killers but at least pre 6.1 there was some slight room to breathe. Survivors didn't have the anxiety they do nowadays.
After 6.1, there was like a 2 week honeymoon period where killers thought life was good, but then survivors stopped horsing around and then we were back at Square 1 as survivors made up for their nerfs by just prioritizing objectives.
I still think 6.1.0 was a terrible patch that should have never happened.

There were countless ways of explaining the situation and you three chose the best one!

10 thousand ping?!?
…I think that must have been the actual Felix playing directly from the Entity's realm.

I wish more people would understand this. I personally love using stealth to outwit the killer, I find it really fun to play a deadly game of hide-and-go-seek. It's also interesting to force the killer to use their gamesense/gameknowledge to locate me, rather than using a perk or addon to get info on my location. I don't really feel like I can enjoy stealth gameplay as much anymore without being forced to run Boon Shadow Step or Off The Record.
I agree completely, friend.

I agree that this is what many survivors expect. The problem is that playing "nice" and spreading hooks around basically guarantees 0K for the killer. Most people who play killer actually want to have a chance to win (3-4K) and nobody should get mad about that. Killer players have every right to play to win as survivors do.
Some people on this will claim that it's still possible to win playing "nice" and spreading hooks. Not a single one of them has ever offered up video/links of their own gameplay to demonstrate that this is actually possible.
Some people on this will claim that it's still possible to win playing "nice" and spreading hooks. Not a single one of them has ever offered up video/links of their own gameplay to demonstrate that this is actually possible.
Probably because, if they do, suddenly the survivors they played against were "terrible", or their perks carried them, or the map is killer sided, and the list goes on.
Offering their own gameplay would probably attract those who will try to find countless reasons to discredit said gameplay, even if it proves that it is indeed still possible to win while playing like killers used to play.

It's doable, especially if you rush the new achievements every time they drop. Hand-Eye Coordination is a nightmare to get currently but it was way easier if you played shortly after Vecna's release.

It took me years but I was able to do it, I'm sure you can too!
(Console Skilled Huntress is a nasty one though, I hope you REALLY like Huntress)
I got Hand-Eye Coordination two days ago, did one hell of an effort to survive that match.
I don't even want to get all of the achievements, but I just couldn't let the opportunity slide.

I got lucky and got both Hemophobia and Left For Dead in 2017 by chance. I was a new player and had no idea what was going on lol.
Left for Dead was probably one of my most memorable games from back then though. I was Bill on Resting Place against a clearly brand new Huntress. I was able to complete both gens and open the exit gate undetected.
The reason why it was so memorable is because it was the first time I heard her sing in that lower and creepier pitch... Huntress back in the day would stop singing when she entered chase, and would instead breathe really heavily. Once the chase ended the lullaby would start over. I was genuinely terrified lol
EDIT: Oh and to maybe answer the question of "why didnt you just look for hatch?". Hatch would only show up once 2 gens were completed.
Funnily enough, my trial where I got the Left for Dead achievement was against a Huntress :)
But it was on Midwich, instead of Azarov's.

Bitter Murmur and Nurse's Calling are both contingent on a survivor's action, and BBQ was designed to only direct the killer, not point out exact locations, which is why it only works on survivors that are too far away.
But since then, we've had NTH (Killer action, shows exact location of nearby survivors), Weave Attunement (Passive, shows exact location), Floods of Rage (Shows exact location, irrespective of distance), and more.
This is a very far cry from BBQ being the only big aura perk, with the specific stipulation that it physically -cannot- autopilot a killer into a survivor. The survivor was still allowed to hide, but that's no longer the case. The newer aura perks do both BBQ's job of giving the killer directions, and they directly highlight nearby survivors that are trying to hide.
You can hide against Nurse's Calling. You can hide against BBQ.
You can't hide against NTH, Weave Attunement or Floods of Rage.
Also, really ######### move from BHVR to buff chase-breaker perks like Dance With Me, and then in the first next patch, buff Predator to completely undo those perks.
Well said.
I remember when I first started playing DBD it was reasonable for a survivor to keep track of aura reveal. A Nurse's Calling, BBQ, Bitter Murmur, a few add-ons here and there and Freddy who had it basekit. That was it. You could expect survivors to understand which aura reveal the killer was using and work around it.
But now that is simply no longer possible. Everything that you do, even just starting the match (Lethal Pursuer) will reveal your aura, and it shouldn't be like that. I don't even think the Distortion nerf was as severe as some people claimed it was, but I don't like how stealth is constantly the target here.
Hide and seek is easily my favorite playstyle. DBD isn't just about chases.
-
Freddy is uh… complicated.
I think his original power made you feel like Freddy Krueger, especially if you are thinking about the remake movie, but his current one just doesn't.

Hehehe, that was what happened to me vs. The Nurse and Ghost Face... clearly your Huntress had more integrity than mine xD
Outrun the Overlap, Garden of Joy eh? A map that tormented me for ages was Toba Landing... for whatever reason, whenever I wasntvthe one to repair the central gen, I escaped... whenever I did repair it... I died... was about 2 months before I finally got it 😶
Cowardice is acceptable when trophy's are on the line… especially when it comes to slugging for the 4k. If I see a killer adept do it, I don't even get mad... it's like "fair enough that man" xD
Toba Landing? Yeah, that one wasn't easy for me either. Honestly I prefer to play on that map when I'm killer.
As for adepts, I can understand doing whatever you can to get them. But it is funny the way they used to work in the past, when "Merciless" didn't require a 4k. When I got my adept Huntress, the last survivor escaped through the hatch :)
-
I'm gonna guess we will get both of them tomorrow.

Huntress... was she attempting long shots a lot?
I attempted it every time I got on the map, and I succeeded against a Ghost Face and new Nurse... but both times the killer quit and denied it me...
I finally got it against a Pig who must have been fairly new... she caught Cheryl at the end and trapped as I popped the 5th gen, leaving her a activated trap and putting her in basement… my team got her unhooked, and I thought briefly about waiting to give her a chance to save herself... but I'd been robbed twice already, so like a coward I opened the gate and ran... the guilt still haunts me to this day. I got the trophy... but at what cost? 😭😭😭😭
Hahaha, I would have done the same, my friend. I must admit I left a teammate behind to get the "Outrun the Overlap" achievement. I hope they forgave me.
Huntress... was she attempting lomg shots a lot?
Iirc she didn't see me at all during the match. My teammates must've kept her occupied.

Do you play Unknown? his reveal mechanic is crap it has a 3 second buffer if that's on Ghost face he could break LOS hide behind a wall and still get revealed cause that buffer is majorly generous he'll never be able to stalk anybody.
On unknown it's not an issue cause he can follow up just barely with a uvx bomb
GF reveal needs tuning but not Unknown level tuning
I disagree, to be honest.
Unknown's mechanic works way better than Ghostface's reveal, and for Ghostface the reveal is the main counterplay, therefore it should work properly.
I don't think it would be terrible if Ghostface's mechanic was similar to one which actually works.

Honestly, I think this could lead to fewer complaints and more overall enjoyment of the game by all players. It's definitely the case that the survivors need to feel threatened with elimination by the killer, but incentivising playstyles that allow the 80% of people in each match who are survivors to have fun (i.e. discouraging tunneling, camping, etc.) could go a long way to improving the experience for a lot of people. Especially because tunneling done effectively can end up destroying a whole team when a 3v1 gets created early.
Personally, if I have the same survivor hooked twice for some reason in the early game, I'll practically never put them in another hook for a while. Even if I down them, I'll leave them slugged so they can get back in the game and do stuff.
I'm certain that if patch 6.1.0 had never happened the game would be in a better state, for everyone.

Just curious - what is an acceptable level of effort that the killer is allowed to exert to try to win so that you won't complain? Should killer players complain if survivors complete the gens and escape too quickly?
Also - what killers are humping survivors for 4 minutes? If killers are doing really that, then it seems like it should be easy for the rest of the survivors to complete all the gens and escape.
Just curious - what is an acceptable level of effort that the killer is allowed to exert to try to win so that you won't complain?
I think it is somewhat expected for killers to play as they used to play, as if Old BBQ was still around: spreading hooks and prioritizing the stacks over actually killing survivors.
That doesn't mean people didn't camp, tunnel or slug in the past, because they did. But generally speaking you could expect a killer to play for 12 hooks and I don't think this will ever go away, even if the perk that encouraged this playstyle no longer exists. I still play that way.

Meg deserves one, and a Blighted Dredge would probably look amazing!
-
Unfortunately, there isn't much to share about Freddy. I knew some of his niche tricks that could be done with his original power, but current Freddy doesn't really have much going for him.
What I can say, though, is: use the RPB add-on, if you can. Survivors starting the trial in the Dream World actually has an impact.

I agree with @Shroompy here, Hallowed Blight is easily the best collection we have.
I hope Mikaela and Knight get their own blighted cosmetics eventually.

In an ideal world they'd have contacted you to consult on it lol.
I agree. It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to make him somehow worse to play than he currently is.
Ah, thank you, my friend! It would have been an honor for me to share my ideas for Freddy directly to the devs. To try and help make Freddy as fun as he used to be.
I would've loved that.

To be fair, going after a different survivor avoids this situation.
There needs to be a punishment for tunneling, and DS happens to be that punishment.

As long as they add back the “pull survivors into the dream world” type power back in a way I’ll be happy. His old power suited him very well, the rework made zero sense, all he ever needed was just some good buffs, not a rework.
True that, my friend.
If I had to choose only a single aspect of his old power to return it would be the "Pull in Dream". That would already make him way more fun to play.
-
To be fair, every killer can defend a 3 gen. I did it recently with Knight and I am pretty sure he can do it more effectively than current Skull Merchant.
@jesterkind said:
Holding a 3-gen is something that any killer can benefit from if they know what they're doing, and separately, there's a bizarre number of people who think that Skull Merchant still excels at doing so above other killers even before her latest update kneecapping her.
I'd be surprised to see someone still trying it these days too, though. Frankly, I'd be surprised to see a Skull Merchant at all, and if I did I'd expect them to be doing something more fundamentally effective.
I've seen one or two during the event, but I don't think they were having a good time. There were situations where there was nothing she could do, simply because of how severe her nerfs were.

I personally hope they give him a complete change from the ground up. Current Freddy doesn't feel like Freddy at all and is rather dull.
A lot of people want the original version of Freddy back. It was more interesting than what we have now. But I think they confirmed we're not getting that.
Unfortunately it has been confirmed, yes.
Maybe there is a chance one or two aspects of his old power will return, but we are definitely not getting a full revert. This isn't how I wanted my campaign to end, but I did the best I could. I swear to you I did.
As for the post here, @fixblitzskin , I think Freddy has a chance to get more substantial changes simply because and it has already been done to him, and very few players like his current power. Number adjustments and tweaks to his existing power, even if they are significant, will not fix the problem of Freddy being boring to play. Nor will they restore his unique identity.
But we will have to wait and see what will be done to my favorite killer this time.
-
Yeah, this is getting annoying:
Thankfully this behavior isn't always rewarded, as we can see, but is it really unfortunate that people choose to do this during an event.
If you clearly don't want to interact with the event, don't choose the event queue.

I think playing against Doctor is not as fun as it was before his rework.
People may not have appreciated it, but there was strategy involved when playing against Old Doctor, and I liked it.
Paying attention to Static Field, choosing to pop your Madness 1 early, keeping the stance changes and their timings in mind. It was fun.
Doctor got stronger after the changes, but I think he was also oversimplified.

That’s why in my humble opinion I think she is the hardest killer to be good at. Nurse and Blight are much harder at first but are so overpowered that once you become even mediocre at them you 4k the majority of games.
Huntress is more simple to pick up in the beginning but even when you get good at her it’s very easy to lose control of a game. In conclusion; buff Huntress plz
I don't think Huntress needs a buff, I think she is fine.
She just requires a lot from her players, even the experienced ones. If you miss a lot of hatchets, the match probably won't end well for you.
-
Wesker is terribly designed.
Many players seem to disagree with me regarding Wesker, but I cannot see anything positive about this killer. His kit has way too much in it and is overtuned for a high mobility character.
He is set for changes in the next patch and I hope they are nerfs.

Id argue hatch is just a no skill involved free for Survs who failed their objective. Especially when so many Survs see it as a win for them should be counted as a loss still just give em extra bp for getting it but it's a loss
I honestly see it as a win.
If I escape I've won, that has always been my win condition as survivor.

Why are survivors so inclined to get all 4 survivors out when 3 are standing in the exit gate?
If you have already won, but you can win more, people generally prefer the more satisfying win.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3832193#Comment_3832193
This is true, but thats also a player's personal prioritization due to the nature of the game. Its like how there is no clear answer on escaping via hatch, since some call it a win since their personal wincon is specifically about surviving, not necessarily the MMR based one (leaving via the gate only.)
People who play for the 4K are doing nothing wrong with that act alone, just like survivors who play for the 4E. How either side gets there is the more relevant discussion imo.
How either side gets there is the more relevant discussion imo.
I agree, but I think it is good to remember that 3k is a good result.
Maybe it isn't the more satisfying win, but the killer isn't walking away with a defeat if they get a 3k.
