I first started playing during the Winter Solstice event back in 2018 and I still play it everyday. DBD is my all-time favourite game, and it will take much more than a few bad decisions to make me quit.
Yes, I am not happy with recent decisions. All-Kill Chapter is a disappointment, my main is getting nerfed soon, map reworks were unnecessary and the lack of good events is frustrating. But I am having fun, as I always did, and that is what matters.

What was that even like? Like how could it be worse than the current state? I know I started back when the huntress came out and had her as my main for the longest time but I don't really remember how it was like back in the day.
The old Bloodweb back in 2016 used to be way worse:
Rarer Nodes tended to spawn on the outer circles of the Bloodweb and the cost was determined by the circle Nodes spawned on:
- Inner circle: 3,000 BPs
- Middle circle: 5,000 BPs
- Outer circle: 8,000 BPs
Here, I think I've found a picture:
You know, I never had the chance to play with the old Bloodweb. I first started playing DBD during the last Winter Solstice event (2018). I just enjoy learning about Dead by Daylight's old versions.
I know it is never going to happen, but I would love to play Dead by Daylight's old versions. Just to experience it for myself.
-
I understand the frustration. In my opinion, All-Kill chapter is a huge disappointment. I mean, all of that hype for an F Tier killer? It doesn't feel right.
-
You ran to the wrong direction, that is just bad luck.
However, I understand your complaints. I've had the unpleasant experience of spawning right next to the killer many times, and I know just how frustrating it can be.

I know it probably won't happen, but overheat being removed from Hillbilly
Agreed. This completely unnecessary mechanic must go. I don't understand why they've added it in the first place.
-
They are not that great. I don't think they were necessary and I really miss the old versions. Maps look better, obviously, but they do not feel the same.
In terms of balance, some of the issues were fixed. But not all of them. And breakable walls feel way too forced.
And then, we get to Lery's... If there is one map rework I hate, it is Lery's. It used to be my favourite map in the game, and in my opinion the rework ruined it.

I would love the 2017 halloween one back :(
Same. It was before my time, but from what I've seen it was one of the best.
But the one I want most is the 2018 Winter Solstice one. I first started playing DBD during that event and I every time I think about it nostalgia hits me like a truck. I would do anything to have that background theme back.

May the Entity have mercy upon your soul. You will need it.

Take care of yourself, my friend. And good luck!

Thank you. 1 BP is better than nothing.

Yup, he's the anti deathslinger. He's on the complete other end of the scale. Slingers lack of real counterplay to insta shots makes him boring and stomp players in chases. Trickster has so much easy counterplay that chases last forever and are extremely stale and dull, its rare for him to even get a hit. In the past people have said killer only wins through survivor mistakes, which is something that I half agree and half disagree with. Trickster is the embodiment of that statement.
"killer only wins through survivor mistakes"
I've heard this many times before, and even after a long time I still agree with it. It is just my opinion but I think, and I quote TydeTyme: "killers are less interactive and more reactive".
But Trickster... by the Entity, Trickster needs much more than one survivor mistake or two to win. He needs much more.

Hey, great list
What makes you think that Billy is better than Cannibal in their current state?
His map pressure. Cannibal is a chase-oriented killer, always was, and he does his job well but Billy has both the insta-down and map pressure, something that Cannibal lacks.
Besides, a veteran Billy can deal with most loops. Not all, but most of them.
-
Tier lists are interesting. Here is mine:
-
It definitely isn't for me, but I am glad to see that someone liked it.
-
Honestly, the only good thing about Trickster is his trailer. Everything else is just awful and unhealthy. His aesthetic is weird and honestly doesn't fit DBD at all. His power is so weak that he is literally the worst killer in the game. And his map pressure, which is extremely important on higher ranks, is nonexistent.
I've enjoyed every single DBD chapter, even A Binding of Kin (somehow). But All-Kill is nothing more than a huge disappointment.
@GannTM said:
Thank you. I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I hate it how at some loops his counterplay is so nonexistent and boring. The car loops on Badham or Autohaven, he can throw so many blades and just puts the survivor on a timer. Survivors’ skills are irrelevant in those situations that it almost reminds me of old Legion. It takes so long to down someone with the blades, which makes it even more boring. At least Spirit and Nurse get you out of the game fast lol.
Well, yes... and no. Trickster and Old Legion have a somewhat similar mechanic, but there is a difference:
Old Legion was a very broken killer with zero counterplay and exploits.
Trickster is a very weak with so much counterplay that his power is not even threatening.
-
They have somewhat of a similar mechanic, but they are pretty different.
Old Legion was a very broken killer with zero counterplay and exploits.
Trickster is a very weak killer whose power isn't even threatening.
-
Nope. Use shards or don't even bother. Weakest killer in the game.
-
I have a better idea: remove the overheat mechanic.
-
Good thing I am not one of those Claudettes. I am the nicest Claudette main you will ever meet!

Agree. 💪 to old Freddy players. (Oh and just another fond memory.... class photo and paint thinner. We had wall hacks too 😂)
Yes, 💪 to Old Freddy players. 💪 to the original Dream Demons of the Fog.
Ah, how can we forget good old Class Photo and Paint Thinner? I particularly enjoyed running Pill Bottle as well. I've lost count of how many free hits I got because survivors couldn't see me during the transition.

Let’s not have revisionist history here about old Frederick. He was my first p3 and I enjoyed playing him, but let’s not confuse nostalgia with lethality. How many times were you in endgame with a player on the hook helplessly watching an unhook waiting for transition because you didn’t have U/Z block equipped this game. Same scenario with last gen on like 97% and you can’t stop the repair.
don’t get me wrong, running remember me, getting your stacks, killing the obsession, getting everyone in dream, and grabbing a 6 pack of beer while it too 3 days to open the door was hella satisfying.
i wish he was still in the game as he was my favorite killer of all time, but some of the comments regarding him make me 4head at times.
Oh, a fellow Old Freddy player, I see. Well, I cannot deny that nostalgia does affect my opinion towards my old main, but sometimes I feel like people don't give him enough credit. Yes, he was not the best killer in the game and situations like the ones you've described happened way too often. There is a reason why I always had block add-ons with me.
However, that doesn't mean he was as bad as most people say he was. He had his strengths, and honestly all he required were a few buffs and QoL adjustments, not a full rework. I also want him back, and no matter how many times people tell me he won't return I refuse to give up hope.
And if we stick to the actual topic of this thread, I believe we all agree that Trickster is WAY worse than Old Freddy.

The red flags were there.
- an absurdly high ammo count.
- An objectively strong hex.
- A perk that encourages the use of a basic attack after carrying/hooking someone.
- A perk that’s purpose is to give the killer more time during endgame.
I should have thought of that earlier.

I feel like i would get more kills with old Freddy than with current Trickster.
It's quite depressing honestly
As an Old Freddy main, I guarantee you would. Old Freddy was a very underrated killer, and quite deadly once you managed to master his unique playstyle.
Trickster has nothing, other than a very weak power and "Main Event", which isn't even threatening.
-
@Northener1907 said:
Freddy has to teleport gates or make him teleport reparied gens too. Normal gens will be red, repaired gens blue. So after all gens done, Freddy will still have him power. Fair?
I don't think such change is necessary. Freddy is fine.
-
I agree. Other than the trailer, everything about this chapter is a huge disappointment. I haven't seen such a weak killer since PTB Ghostface.
And to think, after all that hype, that is what we get.
-
@Phasmamain said:

Ptb Ghostface was worse but they did fix him at least
Also old Freddy is probably worse
Old Freddy was WAY better than Trickster. Old Freddy was invisible to awake survivors, had a built-in slowdown in the Dream World, built-in anti-stealth in the Dream World and regular killer speed.
Trickster has nothing other than a very weak power and "Main Event", which isn't even threatening.
@Sluzzy said:
If killers say he is weak, it really means he might be closer to balanced.
Give him time so you can get meta perks as usual. It is refreshing not seeing everyone on their bellies at 5 gens still up against a killer as it commonly happens against some of the killers. He's definitely getting some kills.
I doubt it. Other than PTB Ghostface, no one is as weak as Trickster is.
-
And I agree.
-
"Wait, playing killer is scarier than playing survivor?"
*Flashbacks of infinite loops, Old DS, pallet vacuum and other unbalanced stuff*
"Always has been"
-
Yes, he is. There is no reason to play him instead of Huntress or Deathslinger.
Most of my survivor matches today were four man escapes, and a 2 man escape against a camping Trickster.
-
As a long time Freddy main, I have to disagree with this idea. The ability to teleport to exit gates would make him unfair to go against. There is a reason why this feature was not added in the first place.
In my opinion, the only change that my babe needs is the ability to revert his power back to its original version.

Yes... haha, I may have just laughed!
anyway, Freddy is fun, loveable too.
been a fan of the movies growing up as a kid, then loving the remake. sometimes a character can just mean so much to you. That is why i also main him. I am glad he got added though. old Freddy was fun to play as. I stopped playing the game then came back he had changed.
I know how it feels. Ever since I watched ANOES I can't get enough of Freddy. He has been my main ever since I first started playing. I've spent countless hours trying to master Old Freddy, and even more hours trying to master the new one.
As much as I love his current version, I would do anything to play Old Freddy again. I miss him.

Blight. Blight is your main.

I am left to wonder what one of these "big" events will be like, we haven't seen one of those yet.
They might be the same, or worse, or they could also be better than before.
I for one enjoyed the 1-year anniversary Event the most: Coming together to complete 1-2 goal(s) which unlocks free stuff for all if completed.
I'd love to see that more often.
Agreed. Sadly, the 1st Anniversary event was before my time, but I have seen countless videos and I must admit it was a very good event. I would love if they did something like this for the 5th Anniversary.
-
Ah, people still complain about my main, I see. I am tired of reading such posts. Freddy has been my main ever since I first started playing, prior to his rework. Old Freddy was not as bad as most people say he was, but he did need a few buffs and QoL changes.
But we all know that didn't happen, and he got a full rework instead. Is he OP now? No, he is not. Never was, and never will be. At the end of the day, Freddy is a M1 killer. If you spam your Snares, that might cost you the match. Passive sleep doesn't make a huge difference if he doesn't have slowdown add-ons. And, if he does, it is easy to push through them and finish the gens. As for pallets... well, no one complain about pallets. I can tell you the counterplay, if you want to:
-First of all, WAKE UP. In the Dream World you are vulnerable to his Dream Traps and Add-ons, so make sure to wake up when possible.
-Freddy is a chase-oriented killer, so try to be stealthy and commit to generators.
-Be extra careful when looping him. Stepping on a Snare will give him a hit, so try your best to avoid them. As for Dream Pallets, make sure to remember which pallets are real.
Freddy is not invincible. I guarantee.

They're cutting down heavily on all events that aren't on DbD's bday & Halloween.
Those 2 will be "big", and all other special days will be small stuff like *2 BP.
Which is sad, to be honest. DBD had amazing events in the past: Winter Solstice, Moonrise, Scorching Summer BBQ, to name a few. And now, all we get is anniversary and Halloween? It is not fair, it is not right.
Besides, the last Halloween event was a huge disappointment. Honestly, I am scared to see what the 5th Anniversary will bring.
-
What? Doctor is mid-tier, at best. If anything, Doctor needs some sort of buff, such as "Snap out of it" being affected by perks like A Nurse's Calling or Coulrophobia, as it used to be.
-
All-Kill chapter itself is nothing more than a disappointment for me, but I truly am excited for the new changes. Playing Blight and Wraith is going to be so much better.
-
Allow me to share mine.
-
I can understand complaints about NOED, but Devour Hope? Really?
It is a very healthy perk that keeps killers away from hooked survivors, fixing the "problem" of camping. Devour is fine. Always was.
-
It was the year of 2018. I was playing Friday the 13th: The Game with a friend. Jason wasn't really doing anything so we just kept talking, and when I asked him about game suggestions he mentioned Dead by Daylight. I bought it 1 month later, and on that day I found my all-time favourite game.
-
I miss Old Ruin, good old days when skill checks actually demanded skill. Why did the devs change Ruin is beyond me, always was and probably always will be.
As for Undying, I wouldn't mind if it was reverted back to its original version.
-
For some unexplainable reason, it took me a very long time to get this achievement. I got it with some friends during a very interesting trial against a Doctor.
-
How dare you remove my babe? I will hunt you in your Dreams for that!
On a more serious note, allow me to share mine:
