This is kind of how the surv challenges have always been, really. It sucks because to complete most of them you do have to throw to one degree or another. Pretty much anything that encourages you to deviate from the natural flow of gameplay is going to create inefficiency and be tantamount to throwing; only a small percentage of surv challenges can be completed by just playing as normal, and that is nothing new.
To be fair a few of the killer ones do as well, but not as many, and with killer you're not screwing over anyone else by going out of your way to complete arbitrary items.
It's almost as if we are required to commit bannable offenses to complete the tomes.

Survivor challenges/achievements are always pain in the rear. I have conspiracy theory that they made just to force players to play more survivors. Because it take 20 more time to finish one survivor achievement than killer one.
Obviously. That's not even a conspiracy theory. That is 100% the way it is.

Have you actually looked at some the killer ones? I've thrown games to get some. Granted, that is the benefit of a lot of the killer ones. If I want to throw a game and farm that's much easier to do that than with survivor.
Isn't that bannable? Farming? Lol

I've had so many instances lately where people are leaving me to die on the hook, from the first phase. Even when they haven't been hooked themselves. So that's making me reluctant to go for the save at the end game... cause I know if I get downed I'm gettin left behind..
That's probably because people are working on the rift quests. It happens every time a new level opens on a tome. It is awful. It becomes a completely different game.
-
Also, just because there are 3 other survivors doesn't mean that you have to interact with them. Sometimes theyre just doing quests and they have no intention of helping you in any way.
I've learned from experience. Yet I keep making the same "mistakes". I want to help them, but it's not always the best idea.
A good example is when I've unhooked the other 3 survivors and then when I get hooked I see 2 of them teabagging in a corner while the other one is crouching somewhere. Then I go from first hook, to second hook, to struggle and then I die.
That said, its good to learn how to estimate whether or not its worth it to help the other 3 survivors.
-
You could try only looking out for yourself and seeing how that goes. If nothing else, I'm sure it would be a learning experience.
I've noticed that in some solo queue games its best to stay on gens. I've had games where I've done 5 gens and all 4 survivors escaped. I've also had games where I never saw another survivor or the killer, concentrated on gens and everyone escaped.
It's really up to your play style and being able to feel out the situations.
There is nothing wrong with experimenting and figuring out when is a good time to assist others and when is not a good time to assist others.

So if I make a suggestion, it gets ignored.
But if others make the same suggestion, they get upvotes.
Got it.
Yeah I think thats how the forum works. There are only ten real people in the forum and the rest are bots.

I'm not doing that stuff. That's my suggestion.

It's been like this since last November? Wow.

I quit. I didn't know about this until now. No wonder I kept dc'ing. They didn't even mention this when I was reporting connection issues. W t f?
This is blatantly wreckless for them to keep selling stuff in their game while neglecting this issue. W t f?

The game is more frustratimg than fun right now. For me, anyway. I'm not playing again until the Halloween event or the anniversary event. I've been playing different games and having way more fun than I was when I was playing dbd.

I'm so tired of the sweaty killers, and the SWF. That's all I get anymore, and it's so exhausting. Even after like 10 games with 0 kills, or like 10 games where I barely do anything cause I get tunneled immediately it's the same story. I can take break after break, and I still come back to the same mess. Sorry for the rant. I'm just tired of every game, not even just dbd being filled with people so competitive.

If I played at the afternoon I'm sure I could get at least a 10 escape streak or something like that. Unfortunately I can only play at evenings and it's MMR hell, one match I get a good team and the next one a Meg with 20 hours in the game.
It is way easier to escape during afternoon games than it is in evening games. 100%. I mostly play at night, but I get 1 or 2 days per week where I'm able to play in the afternoon. It's like the difference between night and day. Literally.
-
If we are talking about earned gate escapes, my best is 5 in a row. It really depends on what day it is and what time it is.
If we are talking about total escapes, including hatch and the killer being merciful, at least 10 in a row, but I really only count earned gate escapes where a survivor opens a gate without the killers help or lenience.
I tend to have good luck with killers recognizing when my team neglects me after I did 3-5 gens and get left for dead. Or maybe its because I don't teabag and I hate flashlights? I'm not sure, but I know some killers recognize certain things and it's really cool when they show mercy.

That is the problem I have with the reporting system. But I did hear that they now can gather data from the games with the new anti-cheat update, not sure if that works on console though? We shouldn't have to have video evidence of cheating when the data can tell when a user is consistently out of bounds (ie. in the sky or below the ground, moving through barriers), triggering perks that they aren't equipped with, spawning items that they didn't load into the match with, being put into a hooked state outside of the hook parameters or being hooked more than 2 times, all generators being completed before 10 seconds after the match started, and so on. My hope is that they will turn to data rather than video evidence we provide.
I used to volunteer on an old game back in the early 2000s as an admin/dev, and we coded similar things. If a player entered said parameter outside of the zone, they would instantly move back to the zone. As we collected data, if we saw this happening repeatedly or if they weren't being moved, we investigated. We'd confirm that it wasn't a bug before booting the player indefinitely from the game. Same with spawning items that they didn't have access too.
I don't know why developers don't do this anymore but I know programming logic has changed over the course of the years. But data should still be the number one source in identifying and rooting out cheaters. Today I literally work in a system at an insurance company that if something isn't filled out in our system properly, it generally errs and gets sent to a report that we review and have to go in and correct. The system identifies something isn't working as intended, and sends a report itself. Not the users. Although we have had some new issues arise where reporting the issue needs to happen, but those aren't programmed yet to self report because, well.. they're new issues.
It's something I hope the devs consider because someone could experience a bug, i.e. falling through the ground, and someone else report it as a cheat and show video of it and the user gets banned despite it's a coding and development issue. Data needs to drive the reporting system, not videos.
I sometimes play Smite and in the after game lobby the system will flag people. Saying that there is reason to believe that the flagged player(s) may have taken actions which are reportable. Then you click the exclamation mark next to their gamertag and a report widow pops up. I wish DBD made it that easy.
Then if they take action you'll get a message within a few days stating that an action has been taken against a player that you reported. It's an anonymous message and doesn't give any further details, such as gt or the resulting punishment. I really appreciate how convenient it is.

I don't know. I wonder the same thing.
-
Then you wonder if someone in the forums is ddos'ing people and reading their complaints in the forum?
-
Then you come to the forum and people are complaining about all of the people "rage quitting"?
-
Well... have you ever been playing dbd and then all of the sudden you start disconnecting from the game and getting time bans for it?
-
The lonliest number that you'll ever do?
-
That's what we call 'Forum Fuel'. Get all the players worked up so they use the forum more often by giving them senseless tasks which contradict the core gameplay model and go against community standards.
That way we can see if they get angry enough to actually utilize the convoluted reporting system.
This game is designed to make everyone hate each other.
-
Now that is hilarious!
-
Hint: use your fingers.
-
I stopped reporting people when I found out that I need video proof of everything. It's such a convoluted reporting system. It makes me feel embarrassed that I play this game, honestly. Especially considering this is the only game I play where I would even have a need to report people.

That should be an ingame feature, I shouldn't have to go to external sites between games and start filling out forms.
While I know you're just passing the information along it's just not a good system, I'd rather just play another game then waste my time going extra steps to report obvious cheaters.
It's 2022. Going to an external site to make a complaint is so 1996.

I mean sure, you loop me just means I got to get good. I mean I think 95% of the people complaining about this game are just people who don't know /can't apply gen pressure and survivors who can't loop/ take a hit for teammate to let up pressure.
Honestly the main problem is each side has a strat that hits above weight class. A killer who tunnels kills teams his level till he gets stepped on. By good solo or medium swift. And a swift destroy similar skill killers till they go up against a toxic one or a good one.
Both get mad and instead of solving the problem just get more toxic cause it's never there fault.
Sadly no matter what solo survivor get rekt.
You forgot to mention all of secret rules that people make up in the forum and how we are supposed to read every post to learn about them.
-
I tunneled. Please don't tell my mom.
Actually, its hard to not tunnel against 4 identical survivors.
I would have to see the gameplay to answer that question.

You know how solo queue is. Either you're fine with it or you're not at this point. You're just griefing queuing into every game and giving up the second something goes wrong. Quit ruining my and everyone else's matches.
So you know why everyone dc's? Its because "something goes wrong"?
Two nights ago I was playing survivor and my game crashed, two games in a row. We were doing great in each of those games.
Before those 2 games I noticed a lot of people dc'ing. I was unable to determine how or why they dc'd. Once my game crashed twice, I assumed that maybe other peoples games were also crashing.
Then I went to the forums and saw a post stating that someone was having disconnection issues after leveling up in the bloodweb. They were asking if that had been happening to anyone else? Ironically, I had just been in the bloodweb before both of the matches I crashed out of.
So for all we know, there might be other issues affecting people's connection to the game besides "something goes wrong". I know I was having reoccurting connection issues during the anniversary event and my recent disconnects were very similar, but with no error code/message. Instead I got time banned twice in a row.
Considering how well the games were going, it would be a shame to think that my teammates would assume that I dc'd on purpose.
Maybe don't jump to conclusions so quickly? This game is currently a mess.
I know your post is about suiciding on hook, specifically, but I wanted to address dc's, in general.
If there are actual connection issues that we are currentky unaware of, then SOME of the dc's we are seeing might not be purposeful.

You are indeed wrong. Bodyblocking in the corner for an extended period of time and for large percentages of the match is bannable, regardless of circumstances.
I wish I had known this about 3 years ago when I got trapped for half of a match in the barn on Coldwind Farm.

Fair point, but what’s an example of that? Most of the cases I can think of are pretty polarized in being very fun or unfun, depending on who you ask.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3174558#Comment_3174558
It’s bannable even if others can do generators, since the trapped person can’t do anything. Trapping someone AFTER EGC starts is fine, not before.
So I should have reported so many people for trapping me in corners over the years? I never knew that was a bannable offense. That makes the map design in this game look horrendous because there are so many spots to get cornered into.
This game is literally ridiculous. DBD should be ashamed of itself for existing. Its a never ending oxymoron.
-
How is DBD not a party game?
Its also a dress up game, a fashion game, a hide and seek game and a generator repair simulator.
Heck, it's basically Roblox.
It's about as competitive as Fallout 76 or Lawn Mowing Simulator.
-
You'd think they would let us play 1 trial game with each character by now.

I'm an Iridescent killer and a bronze survivor. Bro the difference like my teammates in survivor are totally useless my opponents when I play killer are apparently proteges of Splinter Cell Sam Fisher. And the survivors I actually team with in my lame ass bronze ranks are the ones calling for killer nerfs like ######### bro no.
You suck.
Survivors beat my Nurse.
My Artist will get stomped.
Cenobite will wish he were back in hell..
Stop asking for killer nerfs because you couldn't do that "one cool thing" your fellow toxic survivor main streamer did. Just play the game and get better.

I’m so fed up of having a team that are just….terrible. Don’t do generators or if they do they’re missing skill checks everytime, are trying to get you to heal them while they’re being chased which goes in hand with running straight to you when they’re being chased, drop every pallet they come into contact with, don’t unhook you or if they do they attempt to heal you underneath the hook while the killer is on them, the list goes on…😂
Maybe this is all to do with soloq. I just don’t want to carry the entire team every game! I’ve just had 8 games in a row where I did every single gen while every other survivor died after I healed them repeatedly, and it’s tiresome. 🥹
I play both survivor and killer and with all the complaints about tunnelling and face camping - I feel like majority of survivors just ask for it sometimes ngl!
It's the weekend. There are a lot of new and casual player on.

Its because knee jerk reactions are forced because NO ONE IS WILLING TO SEE MAJOR CHANGE
Half the people on here are little kids. Over half the people playing this game are probably little kids, as well. Therefor, a lot of the solutions to problems that people generally come up with might be short sighted.
