So Blight techs do not add extra skillset to the character? I mean why have the op survivor techs like the window tech without LOS and locker techs that have very little to no counterplay stay but remove the killer techs? Locker tech feels awful especially on dead dawg saloon in main, that needs to go asap...
I noticed that survivor techs were ok bit killer techs are clearly bs.

But some of us still like to be more stealthy, and i think it should still be a thing. Again, i am not against accessibility, but where it the thing you give to stealth players to compensate?
Increasing the fov won't kill stealth. You can still hide is not like they can see through wall and stuff.

Looping was not intended, but they adapted later.
FOV was intended. Fully. At the level it was. And they picked that number specifically. Shadowborn exists, as well as Monitor & Abuse, with that number in mind.
The game is still hide and seek. Stop pretending its not because you have a different preferred playstyle.
My point is just because isn't intended doesn't make it right and can be changed just like something that isnt intended can be added.
Stealth is a small part of the game sure but the majority of the game is based around chases.

You are conflating intentional versus unintentional game design.
But I'm not because looping was and unintentional mechanic but players preferred the run and chase gameplay over hide and seek so the game was changed and then it became an intendedmechanic. The game itself was never intended to be played the way it is now. If anything the pov is a relic from a time when the game was intended for survivors to be more stealthy. Increasing the fov wouldn't completely destroy stealth either its not like the killer I'd magically going to be able to see over walls or behind stuff.

I wish they would add the thumbs up animation when you use it. I would feel so much better.

It is also the way the game is intended to be played.
Looping was unintended so then it should be removed, along with 360s since the game was designed to be a hide and seek game and not a cat and mouse chase game.
But that doesn't make since does it just because they planed the game to be one way doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't br changed.

I will admit, I don't really read all of the in game lore. I just tend to play and then get distracted by ten other things, three of which are my kitties. But after Mikaela's release and with the introduction of boons and rift's (I know rifts were around before her), where is the source of power coming from? Is it just the entity giving Mikaela power in order to increase her hope? Does she just have the ability to use natural forces or even unatural forces? Is there another entity that empowers her like with traditional witches?
Is there any info at all, or it is all hush hush with BHVR?
As far as I've come to understand there is no opposite or nothing stated or implied. There are characters that have fought with the entity for escape but we don't know what's happend to them.
I would like to think there's something else that has the opposite effect maybe it lives off happiness. The entity imo seems much like a primal force something that has always been and always will be and there's some sort of opposite to balance it out.

U realize those are not mutually exclusive right? That IS altruistic AND a bad strat.
the problem is like u said, people think they can do whatever and its not like that. If u mess up if u get greedy u will get punished. Whether as surv or killer
It is both you are right but it's a bad strat that just happens to involve altruism. Saying altruism kills is saying altruism is implying that it's altruism itself that is bad when it's the strat that is bad and getting people killed.
-
@DY86 said:
I play a lot of both roles to say: being overly altruistic is possibly the easiest mistake a surv can make, and a Killer can capitalize on.
just played a match as surv on eyrie where 2 of the survs were hovering around a hooked third while the killer was around. Giving him no reason to leave. The hooked surv died on first hook. At 5 gens because of this.
And this happens a lot. Just last week, I got a 4k on Haddonfield as GF because all 3 survs wouldn’t leave the hook. Survs think its cute but it’s just an easy win for the killer and a bad time for the hooked surv
Thats not altruism that's bad survivor paly. Survivors need to learn that unhooks aren't free. Yesterday i had a game where these 2 neas keep running at the person I just hooked right in front of me right after they got unhooked lime I'm not aloud to go after them because they were just unhooked. And another one today were this Jonna was hanging around the hook I was going to like I'm not going to down him because again they were just unhooked so they can do anything they want ans the killer has to ignore them.

Multiple reasons. Since you're asking, I have to assume you've never played Dead by Daylight on console. The issues affecting Nurse are felt by all console killers, but they make Nurse especially horrendous due to her design.
Aiming with an analog stick is more difficult than aiming with a mouse. There aren't enough controller options to allow console players decent aim. Many games have dead zone and response curve settings for controllers, but Dead by Daylight does not. Without those options, it is difficult to make small precise movements: the camera doesn't move or it moves too slowly, then a micro-adjustment of your thumb later the camera swings wildly. This problem is felt with all killers on a controller, but Nurse and the long-range killers are hurt the most.
Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One all have framerate issues. During chases, regular killers can lose sight of survivors easily due to the low framerate and frame drops. This problem is much much worse with Nurse. The low framerate and frame drops make Blinking as Nurse more difficult to control, and it means that while Blinking the killer is often practically blind.
There is also input latency on console. It's noticeable on the PlayStation 4 and horrendous on Nintendo Switch. The input latency makes skill checks more difficult to hit, and it makes injuring survivors more difficult. On Switch, by the time my input registers, the survivor is long gone from the area I'm swinging at. PlayStation 4 isn't nearly as bad, but anyone who does a skill check playing on a PC and then does a skill check on a PlayStation 4 will feel the difference.
People overreact to how difficult playing some killers on console are. Imo nurse doesn't even cracked the top 5 in difficulty on controller. Trickster, huntress, cenobite are all harder because you need to be much more precise. You can swing and move you weapon to still catch the survivors.
I'm not saying that she's not harder on controller just not as hard as people make her out to be.

Yeah and that doesn´t sound like killers are stomping.
They really aren't I mean it's a 25% jump between a 2k and a 3k. That also tells you wesker is getting like one more 3k instead of 2k in those 10 games

Ah you are one of those people who go off the devs amazing kill rate data which shows us absolutely nothing. So where's that Nurse buff then considering she's at the bottom of the list if we want to go off that amazing kill rate logic? Oh wait that wont happen because people like to nit-pick when it suits their narrative.
I do find it funny how is look at all the high kill rates killers are op but when you point out how nurse is the lowest is becomes well that don't count everyone knows nurse is broken.
Sorry but you can't have it both ways either the kill rates accurately show hoe strong killers are and nurse needs buffs or the kill rates don't show all and you cant make any big conclusions from them.

And where do those stats prove it?
60% kill rate tends to be more 2 kills/escapes than 3 kills.
In 10 matches you can get 7 2ks and 3 3ks and that's about 60% kill rate
-
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
Killers got basekit (to an extent):
- Brutal Strength
- STBFL
- An additional 50 seconds
- and mini PGTW.
Oh they also got a 60% kill rate!
Just because one side receives a change doesn't mean the other needs and equal and opposite one, if that were the case the game balance would never change.
.2 seconds
.27 seconds
It's only 50 seconds if one survivor is doing one gen at a time
2.5% regression is laughable
-
@ukenicky said:
Tbh that's fair. It makes hook trading extremely unfair and or impossible in some circumstances. If you think about it, any killer can camp well with STBFL and a decent amount of stacks.
Getting tokens is easier to do if you camp someone actually because free hits.
As long as it's not the obsession on hook they can force them to lose stacks.

Coh is fine imo. It just makes it look overpowered when you looking at all the other healing perks. If inner healing would receive a buff I was talking about earlier, it would immediately create conflict for coh. If self care would be brought back to 32 seconds there would also be less people using coh. Bhvr always makes these rash nerfs to perks instead of making bad perks better.
Even with the buff iner healing is nowhere near CoH. IH has 5 uses per match between all players and everytime you need to cleanse a totem plus everyone on the team needs it for everyone to get value.
CoH takes one person to bring the perk, has unlimited uses, you don't have to rebless the boon everytime you heal,it also gives a big ol sign to come hear for a save zone.
There perks aren't even close to each other and the heal speed on CoH isn't bad it's just the first heal when you bless the totem feels like forever.
-
@HellDescent said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3239609#Comment_3239609
One of the reasons why everyone used it is because survivors didn't have anything to use besides inner strength. So they killed a perk. Now that circle of healing is in the game, everyone spits on self care and they created a new meta perk that they will be nerfing in the future, because it will be one of the most used perks again. With current gen speeds they should've given inner strength a small buff(like giving you a notification when you come within 20m of a totem while injured) and left self care alone. This way there would be more options to chose from for every playstyle
The problem with CoH comes from one perk giving team wide self heals. The only way to really fix it is make the self healing speed bad but then that kills the perk.
I was thinking of just CoH having a token system for self heals and then it snuff itself after they are used up and the totem has to be reblessed.
-
@HellDescent said:
Current self care- yes. I don't know why they butchered it, 32 second heal wasn't unbalanced imo
I do have to agree current self care is bad. It sucks because they nerfed it because it was to strong at higher levels but it really just hurts the more casual players.

That's okay; we just missed each other's sarcasm. While self care can be strong when used correctly I think solo queue survival rates would go up a bit if it didn't exist. It's mainly on weekends but, as another example from a different match today, I saw two survivors self caring against Sloppy while standing literally next to each other.
It happens alot especially when the sarcasm is in text. They probably would go up because they survivors wouldn't be in a corner for 4 hrs trying to heal lol.
My problem with x perk is a killer perk is normally because it's been used wrong not the perk itself really so it's like saying survivors aren't bad it's the perk that's bad kind of thing.

I'm unsure if you actually read my post or just the title but if you can explain how self caring without Botany Knowledge against Sloppy Butcher especially during a Chain Hunt benefits the survivors I'm all ears.
I know what your getting at just been sarcastic. It's not a killer perk though it's a survivor perk they is frequently misused and is actually pretty bad now just bring CoH.
Calling something a killer perk because survivors don't use it right is just dumb to me.

I'm in match against Pinhead so I position myself by the box. For the first bit, things go smoothly and Pinhead injures someone in chase, I pick up the box, go to a good tile and solve.
After a couple of times of this Pinhead starts committing to me. A few minutes later I've been hooked once, only one other survivor has a hook, we're down to two gens and somebody else grabs the box. Pinhead finds me while I'm doing the gen and hits me. I think okay, now the other person can start the box. Nothing. Pinhead downs me and picks me up. I'm thinking okay this is a perfect time to start the box. Nothing.
The other survivor with the box goes to healthy and, at about 99% progress on thr box, starts to solve. Of course a Chain Hunt starts and Pinhead, who has Franklin's, teleports, downs the survivor quickly and starts another Chain Hunt.
Nobody else is getting the box but I have OTR up so I run to the box and solve it and run the Pinhead for a bit who beelines straight at me because, well, I'm on death hook, there are only two gens left and only one other survivor has one hook, downs me and kills me while, during this time, the survivor from before picks up the box. Pinhead hits her, grabs the box, and starts another Chain Hunt.
I'm thinking, okay, they might still have a chance so I see the other survivor run to the box, stands right by the box, and Self Cares. Without Botany Knowledge. Against Sloppy. During a Chain Hunt. Yeah, Pinhead gets a 4K.
TLDR: We got killed against Pinhead because another survivor decided Self Caring without Botany Knowledge against Sloppy Butcher was more important than stopping the Chain Hunt and they should try to Self Care during a Chain Hunt. The other two survivors just ignored the box.
Killers can equip self care now?

Most of the time the survivor is already dead with no where to go so might as well try.
I just had a match against a sabo squad and a Meg tried it and I wasn't feeling nice at the moment so she died. Btw they weren't been jerks or nothing just trying to make sabo plays.

Hillbilly is hard, but it's not because hes hard to get the hang of, but actually because he just isn't a great killer. (99% due to the overheat change).
Hillbilly has a lower skill floor anyone can get close and hit a chainsaw with a little practice. But his skill ceiling is huge so he's harder to master.
Nurse has a huge skill floor because she's slower then survivors and you have to learn to blink timing and some addons even change that but her ceiling isn't much higher then her floor. So once your good with her there's not much left tell you pretty much master her.
Blight has both a huge floor and cleaning and is made of butter so f blight.

I mean, if the gates already opened then theyre just wasting their own time. If they hide for the entirity of the EGC instead of just leaving... Like they do anyways waiting at the gate, I know. But at least this will start the EGC a bit faster to get to the end sooner...
Except it only takes one person to open the gate and start egc the rest of the team could be deep in the map nowhere near the gates. Also if your been slugged at the gate just crawl out.
It would also make bloodwarden completely useless because even if they mess up and let bloodwarden happen they don't have to worry they can wait it out and get a free escape.
-
@SleepyWillo said:
Specifically hostage situations and slugging.
Both sides are kinda responsible but its mainly a design flaw. A killer will body block a survivor in a corner as they know EGC will secure a kill. Teammates dont want to open the gate as they dont want to kill their teammates.
Close hatch in the face of a slugged survivor and leave them on the ground for the length of the EGC to assert dominance, etc.
If EGC was swapped to not kill but to "release" from the trial - similar to how F13 has the 20min timer - then I think that would fix a lot of issues with toxic behavior and hostage taking.
(Goes without saying people on hooks at end of EGC are sacrificed and not released)
I cant see a reason not to either. EGC was never supposed to give kills anyway - just to ensure the game ends.
Would love to hear other peoples opinions and if I'm missing anything here?
As other said survivors would just go into full stealth and hide it out or one person would open the gate and everyone would hide instead of trying to escape.
I haven't been slugged enough times during EGC for it to be an issue sure is happend like twice but that's super rare.
Also if they do add finishing mori the match will be over at that point anyway.

Nope, every hook grab I've got is either due to someone I'm chasing some distance from the hook decides to go for the hook save rather than wasting my time looping me and letting someone else do the save or I've just hooked someone, turn around to walk away and someone decides to dive bomb for a hook save.
I would say 90% of my hook grabs are from a survivor I see and start to chase and they decide to go for the unhook anyway. I also get people looping around the hook and someone dive bombs and I switch and get a grab.
Thats a free unhook with out the grab and basekit bt.

Down in 10sec, that 10sec could be between 0-30 sec Gen, depends on the info teammates have. As I mentioned that there were match that I could finish my Gen because I got the info I needed while other 2 being afraid of TR.
50sec Gen doesnt affect SWF because of the info they have, it just increase the gaps between Swf & Solo. Certainly if Solo is buffed with the info, the kill rate would drop. Which mean Killer can be buffed further.
But no way they should add more time on Gen. I really think Survivors should have alternate objective, which survivors can skip but will be punished later. Instead of forcing them to progress to win (Gen)
Solo buff with info is really simple:
- Showing who's in chase (obviously to let teammates know they're safe to do Gen)
- Showing who's on Gen (with estimate % Gen progression, 20-40-60-80%). If both Jake & Clau on different Gen, the % shows can tell who go for unhook and who should commit Gen.
- Doing Hex
- Opening Gate
Oh God I hope that's not there awnser to buff killers. Make chases shorter or like you said a second objective but i agree more gen time isn't the awnser. The only problem with second objective is its probably going to need to effect Gen times because that's the survivors objective.

Swf isnt break the game then why info for Solo break the game?
Bad players cant use the info doesnt mean better players should not have it.
Quick down like Death slinger still get Gen rushed; or 2min chase and no Gen done. Chase time doesnt matter for survivors, its Gen efficiency on teammates.
There are times that 1 survivors in chase, everyone on last hook injured. Just because I was able to see killer chasing someone else (which is a simple info), I sit on my Gen until finish, while teammate keep hiding whenever TR coming.
Survivors must have their info to have their most Gen efficiency, so devs can balance further. And there isnt much info needed for that to happens.
Beside, I have Twitter with a thousand of DBD drawings : D
I'm not against it at all I'm all for buffing solo but I'm also realistic and realize that buffing solo isn't going to win that match that 2 teammates go down in 10 seconds. Sure those matches where your matched with good teammates it's going to make a huge difference but now your going to have to compensate killers for that buff and now 10 second Meg is 5 second Meg.
I guess my point is it's definitely going to help but it's not going to be a fix all.
I would argue better loading screen hints or a better tutorial would help more. Alot if people aren't going to want to go outside the game to learn in game tools would probably help players on both side.

I looped today blight 4 gens and then he decided to facecamp my solo teammates didn't know and one came first for rescue and one was working on last gen. But as soon as the rescuer saw killer facecamping he left after taking hit. Then the one on gen came to try recue but was grapped and carried to another hook. The other survivors healed but were too far away from making the save before killer came back to facecamp me. So instead one if them put reassurance on me and took hit. Bit later the other one showed up but didn't try to even save and blight downed him with the instadown add on... soon after that he downed the last injured survivor. Now if there would veen icon or kindred basekit my teammates would at least completed the last gen and left. They were bad but still at least my 4 gen chase would not be for nothing. Well I should just looped him 5 gens but unfortunately I messed up pallet stun and the killer had high ping so I should not been greedy.
Ok nut now compare that to how many times you lost because your teammates just sucked.
I'm not against it or nothing I'm actually all for the soli buffs but I think people over estimate how much it's going to fix things.

7 seconds to become an m1 killer per survivor. Most survivors ran self care back then because it was the second strongest perk in game it healed you in 16 seconds I belive and standard healing time was something like 12. So you would put a survivor to sleep after 7 seconds in which point they would be at one of the many many safe loops and then you would half to do the loop thing and if you get a hit the just speed boost to the next loop and start SC and miss a skill check and guess what you got to put them back to sleep because you can hit them.
He was definitely unique but he was a noob stopper and that was it. There's a reason he held the title for weakest killer in the game as long as he did and the second weakest wasn't even close because they didn't have to wait 7 seconds to become an m1 killer.

Yeah. They need to come back. I recently got a bunch of killers and getting the adept achievements as them is horrible. You down one survivor and before you know it, they have already left the match, then 2 or 3 more follow suit. And they will be waiting to trash talk at the post-match lobby chat. Not a crash or an internet issue, just a choice to waste everybody's time.
Tried with Freddy, Nemesis, Pig, Legion, and PH. Instant DC after the first down. And not long after, 2 more DC.
I thought that I would try the free killers, maybe people won't DC then. Nope. Trapper and Wraith also suffered the same.
I don't even have that high of an MMR, I have just started playing like 3 weeks ago and I am not very good.
The thing that made me stop playing was that I was trying my second game as Nemesis, found Bill, Dwight and Meg on a gen and a Cheryl nearby. I infected the Dwight, then suddenly, the Cheryl stopped moving then disconnected. And by the time I hooked the Dwight, the Bill left. Then the Dwight left. I gave the Meg hatch and stopped playing the game since.
Won't come back till the penalty returns.
I'm so glad I cleaned up all mine except for dredge I planed on doing I'm next month anyway.
Good luck there a pain enough with out free dcs
