No Gen defence won't get buffed... And proof of it is what they already have done to it in the past
Ruin- unused or not worth it
Pop- unused or not worth it
Eruption- not used as far as I can
Now with these changes Call Of Brine and Overcharge won't be used as much
And the healing changes might be tinkered with further but it won't change much
But eruption is the second best regression perk after thus patch. Jolt been the best imo.

Yeah. We have so many people complaining about altruistic healing speeds, when there are so many healing speed perks that can completely undo the slower basekit altruistic healing speeds.
I don't think they should of changed altruistic speeds but self heals and medkits did need changes. The problem is though injured Survivors can still do gens and prerun. It's really only casual players that it's going to hurt because either they spend half the match trying to heal or go down in 2 seconds because they aren't good in chase.
-
@H2H said:
It wouldn’t surprise me if they reverted the healing/medkit nerfs but left all the gen regression nerfs in place.
This is my biggest worry. Gens already fly even with the current gen defence so by removing that without any kind of compensation are just going to make hens go faster. I think it would be ok if they nerf all gen defence but set base regression at 200%(half survivor repair speed). Not been able to slow gens down is only hurting the weaker killers that cant apply pressure across the map.
-
@Crowman said:
I doubt it'll be a full revert. We'll likely see adjustments to the values and maybe a nerf of mangled that'll end up with longer heals than live, but faster than ptb.
Honestly it feels like they were nerfing gen defence and were like oh we need to do something to slow down survivors let's add healing nerf and that's as far as they thought it through

does it help playing a variety of killers? i feel that stops some of the staleness
The problem is the gameplay loop doesn't really change n much with most killers. You could sum the gameplay in a few categories m1 killers: they do most if not all damage with basic attack have no to minimal anti loop. Ranged killers: it's in the name. Zoners: they just make loops useless and just promote. Then mobile killers: they can get around the map at high speeds. I wouldn't really call anti loop a categorie so much anymore as most killer have a form of it in there kit.
But even with this the basics gameplay loop doesn't change. You still find survivor chase them down them hook them. The little differences don't really change the gamepley enough.
-
@Pulsar said:
Very significant nerf, imo.
It has a capped usage, requires a Safe Unhook and will be removed upon any activation.
Considering how often I see failed DH's and server rollback DH's, this feels like a very strong nerf.
Thoughts?
That's definitely and over nerf imo. I think it was fine when it exhausted you even if you didn't tank the hit that way other exhaustion perks can't make up for it and you can't just spam E. If it stays then I think the unhook requirement might be a bit harsh and should maybe be something else.

Killers have been consistently handfed for 6 years of this game and still currently begging for more. Like someone mentioned above killers are in a spot where they can deny loops and even make up the lost distance in chase at loops
While survivors are consistently kicked down and gutted to where they've to hold hands with each other to play
You shouldn't be able to pick up killer and instantly master it get 4k every match
This has to be the most backwards post I've ever seen. Like insta heals and insta gens weren't in for years, infinites, getting to heal yourself mid chase with og self care, og ds(always active even without been hooked),forever sabo. These took years to remove plus there's more because these are just the things that survivors had when I started. Survivors have had so much broken stuff that it had to be toned down. Imagine have a weapon that fires 100 rounds a second and it got changed to only fire 95 a second. Does that make it trash or just not as effective?

Killer has been in its' best spot ever. The game is literally handed to them on a silver platter most of the time. I've switched to playing killer outside of challenges or when a friend is around because solo queue is utterly unbearable and keep getting worse with every new patch.
im going to steal someone else analogy to explain this. lets stay your stuck in a cave and you got to fight 500 killer turtles to get out and you do then you go into the next part of the cave and you have to fight 490 killer turtles and someone turn's and says hey its the easiest its ever been. just because its easier then it was doesn't make it easy.

Just find it a bit odd that they're nerfing a perk that forced the killer to actually chase survivors and get downs in order to get value.
People complained quite rightly about gen-kicking perks having no requirements and encouraging just guarding gens but a perk that's the complete opposite was also heavily nerfed. Just seems weird.
Doesn't matter if it's healthy it been used often so nerf. At this point I'm convinced they're just looking at numbers and saying x perk is used often nerf it.
Also want to point out the the old meta before the sake up was probably the one that incentive chase over 3 gen because of the perk style.

But eruption and jolt give overall regression while pop is current progress. The only problem with eruption is you have to kick gens and it's not worth kicking gens. The new over brine maxes out at 250% I believe and you have to spend time walking to and kicking it and hope you get value.

It saves like 7 seconds on a gen.
You WANT people to have PT because it means they are being EXTREMELY inefficient.
The problem is that survivors gen progression is 4x faster then base regression so that little bit is multiplied by 4 for the killer to regression.

This is simply not true. Even with the current gen regression gens still few now they nerf that and even gave them more gen speed. Its definitely a problem. Do note that Eruption’s rework had nothing to do with gen kick/3 gen meta, but rather the realization that the Incapacitation status effect is unhealthy to have on a perk. So I doubt they’ll nerf the other two members of gen kick.
Yes the complaint was incapacitated and then they completely destroyed its Regression as well. Like I said before even survivors we saying it was overkill.

Yea I agree....let's look at the first perk shake up and how they did Gen Defense and Regression....made it so you need at least 2 regressions to have a chance if not a mobile killer....them they thought the fiasco with a certain perk was needed but quickly changed it back.....
I expect to see more Regression Perks nerfed but nothing done to Gen Speed perks making more of a reason to Target a 3-Gen from the start
And this is where we have the current problem. Regression is in a way worse place for non mobile but gen speed altering stuff is untouched and even added in the last 4 chapters.
I'm assuming it will be something of a gen blocking meta with something like CI,DMS,DL, and making sure your 3 Gen doesn't get lost.

Putting a hole in the car wall is definitely a good change, but agreed. I hope they don’t completely ruin other parts of the map and make it worse than before. That front window in the main building is a bit rough if the garage is open (aka when the generator is completed) since then you can loop back around to it, but other than that it’s not a terrible map apart from the car walls.
Still amazed that they somehow managed to make Red Forest worse than the old one, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at this point.
The way things have been going in map design lately I'm afraid they will turn these holes into infinites or something.
I understand they were mostly killer favored because there was like 5 pallets on the map but I didn't expect it to go completely survivor sided plus infinites on 2 of the 3 maps.

But it appears one of two things are going to happen to Autohaven:
- The car wall is going to have an entry point added through the middle, which is amazing since the car walls take a long time to walk around and most people just cant be bothered. Overall would be a nice change.
- A new loop added, it might use the car wall asset to make the walls of the loop itself, which I think is neat overall since I feel as if the map definitely needed something to feel more like a wreckage yard.
This being said, I hope Coldwind and MacMillan get more things fitting the theme of Billy and Trapper. I also hope Coldwind goes back to being nighttime, or even having dynamic weather like rain or snow (I like weather systems in games, if you couldnt tell).
But overall, niche changes like these are exciting to me.
After what happened to the red forest and the last 3 maps I'm extremely worried.

I can't see any reason why they'd nerf those perks. On most killers they're fine. I'm sure they've learned from Nurse that bottlenecking perks because of *one* killer (in this case, a 3 genning SM) is not the way to go. IF they really want to address these issues, they need to go to the source (killer) and not the perks.
With so many complaints about the CoB and OC meta and they are definitely the most used perks I'm expecting them to get nerfed. Even if they aren't destroyed I still makes the current regression even weaker and only makes it more 3 gen reliant for non mobile killers.

this is what im really worried about. im pretty confident that CoB and overcharge are going to get hit and theres not really much gen defense left to buff unless they revert changes and BHVR doesn't like to do that. when they reverted the DMS PR combo they p nerfed dms pretty hard. am convicted the only reason they readjusted Eruption was because even survors were like wow that might have been over killer. BHVR has a tendency to Iron will alot of killer perks.

I don't mind gen rush, I see it as a failure to apply pressure.
I find stuff like Hold W or Boil Over strats boring tho, so I don't mind camping/tunneling/slugging people like that
"Gen rushing" generally means the survivors are maximizing gen efficiency and minimizing chase.
My biggest issue with boring playstyles is pre-runing and super immersed players. I end up spending most the match walking around in circles. I get it's a playstyle but it makes the killer experience just as boring as standing next to a hook.

I don't really know how to describe it honestly it's just sort of second nature to me after thousands of hours in the game. I realistically can't really play spirit that well (and I don't want run DCB out of principal) - so a lot my movements with her are mostly just based on predictions on what survivors are doing.
I only play with headphones though, and have always since I started, so the audio (and whatever I have on in the background) is always close to my ears. If I didn't play without headphones it would probably be a different story.
You probably notice alot of little things visually that I would miss. It sounds like you use a totally different skill set .
It would be nice to see some audio accessibility options for killer like I said dbd mobile has visual cues for gens and thing of that nature idk why they haven't added it to the base game.

Those aren't infinites. An infinite means you can't bloodlust or get widow blockers because you lose chase. On Haddonfield there's that one house with a door and a gen with the window right behind it if you jump the window and go left you can see the killer either way and lose chase. I've played when infinites were a thing and these are real infinites no breakable walls or anything like that.

I posted in the feedback section when the Red Forest rework went live. I'm not sure how these designs are being approved in year 7. They must have relatively new devs at every level of the process. It's the only explanation I can think of. The balance on Red Forest, especially main building, is even worse after the rework.
The worst part is it was the only realm I would of said favored the killer and now all 3 are completely survivor sided. I've been lucky enough not to play huntress on the rework.

Personally, and anecdotally, I track mostly with sight and only sometimes audio. I usually have music and stuff playing in the background that I pause if I have to super concentrate. I'm mostly deaf in one of my ears - but not completely deaf, so it's not impossible, it's just different.
There is so much info that is audio to the point were I play with headphones to pick up on it. Like how do you mindgame a survivor you can't see they can just w out or reposition?
It's crazy to hear about people playing killer with hearing difficulties to me because I use sound so much when playing killer I didn't even think of playing without it.

Survivors are technically where they make most of their money. From a business standpoint it makes the most sense to release them.
In cosmetics yes but they already have plenty of survivors to sell cosmetics on. Think about it you probably only see a handful of the survivor roster the rest nobody plays.
When you buy a killer your not just buying a cosmetic and a few perks but also the power which should change gameplay.
I would be will to be killers sell better then survivors as a whole but the most money is made on survivor cosmetics.

Oh, my apologies, it is hard to tell over typed words. But, yes I have played killer (although I do not enjoy it) and it is important to hear the noises of the generators, to know if one is started when you walked by a second ago and it wasn't started then. It is viable enough if you have sharp eyes, audio cues help a ton, though there are perks for the hearing impaired such as:
Bloodhound: To easily track footsteps when you can't hear survivors running around you.
Whispers: To know when a survivor is nearby without needing to hear them directly.
Spies From The Shadows: Gives a visual cue when a survivor disturbs the crows around the map.
Shadowborn: To increase killer FOV.
Again, sorry for misunderstanding. 😕
It's no big deal totally understandable. Have you tried stridor? I didn't even think about those been used like thay. It's still quite a lot of your perk slots been used just to make killer somewhat playable.

Hot take: the game shouldn't have gen defense perks, or ways to increase gen speed (besides doubling up with other survivors).
I agree but that's now how the game works unfortunately. When I started ruin and pop were the only gen defence perks in game and controlling gen was next to impossible. There was other factors to be fair like real insta heals and bnps but camping and tunneling were way more common back then as well.

I wasn't trying to be condescending or nothing like that I'm actually curious on the viability of playing killer with hearing difficulties. Not been able to hear a survivor behind a wall or a gen been worked on in the distance would be extremely difficult.

Is playing to have fun, instead of optimizing the easiest win and making the most boring matches possible, off the table?
The thing is if you play for fun and not try then 9/10 you get 5 minute games with a couple of chases that involves breaking pallets and following the survivor to the next loop. Killers are doing whatever it takes at this point to extend matches so they can get more then 2 chases in before all 5 gens are done. Now some are taking that to the extreme and that's also not ok.
The other day I was thinking and it's been 5 chapters since the last time there was some kind of gen defence perk add but the last 4 chapters have had some kind of gen speed perks added. There is also the fact that the current gen kick meta isn't that string on non mobile killer unless you hold a 3 gen because it takes to much time to walk around and kick gens all over the map.
-
@Nazzzak said:
On its most basic level, survivors track killer by terror radius (auditory cue) and killers track survivors by scratch marks (visual cue). Killers got a visual accessibility option in colourblind mode, and survivors get an auditory accessibility option in the form of this heartbeat. Not saying a FOV option for killers shouldn't be implemented at some stage, but if we are doing accessibility tit for tat then I feel like the devs have shown they're not intentionally ignoring one side.
Alot of tracking on killer is done with audio. Scratch marks give you general locations but to find a survivor is normal done with audio like injured noises, vault sounds, locker sounds. Imagine trying to mind game a survivor and you can't hear them been injured or even vault.
-
@Mystic_Mizu said:
The accessibility option is for hearing impaired players only. This gives them no advantage other than being able to know when the killer is near. I understand the people with motion sickness though and a FOV too high or too low can worsen it, so I do understand an accessibility setting for that.
I also agree though that killers should get some accessibility setting also as hearing impaired players also would like to play killer. Nothing major, just a notification or an indication that a generator can be heard in the area, footsteps, or even breathing. Different colors for different actions maybe.
Have you ever tried playing killer? I'm actually curious because gameplay uses alot of sound to track survivors or get close to gens a hear if they are been worked on. I would think is almost impossible to play killer with hearing impairment.
Dbd mobile add sound notifications for all that. So it's definitely a possibility.

i would assume its perfect pixel information because the feature is intended to be an accessibility feature for players that have hearing deficiency. its entirely based around replacing spine chill, well rather making spine chill effect base-kit. It would be strange if it was worse then manual hearing because your discriminating among hearing impaired. that would be very impolite to put it mildly.
You can't always hear the TR right away between gen noise and on some maps the ambient noise it can take a bit to hear the TR. Plus SC still works on undetectable killer which have no TR and people with perfect hearing can't hear them coming so acceptability is not an argument on that part.
