While that's a noble goal, you straight up don't ever need to invoke rank for those kinds of things. Nobody likes hearing "you're just trash", regardless of how well-intentioned or nicely-phrased it is, so mentioning that is only going to worsen your chances of convincing that person.

Like I said, with this system people are all but forced to take every argument on its merits instead of resorting to listening to higher-ranked players. That, or they just assume, which admittedly happens more often. Rank shouldn't really enter balance discussions like this, the ranks of the people having the discussion is only rarely very relevant and when it is there's no reason to start the "well you're a lower rank player so you wouldn't understand" spiel because it simply doesn't hold any logical weight beyond a moderate amount of correlation.

True, but at a certain point that "moderate amount of correlation" has to mean something. At least in terms of current game mechanics. As far trying to suggest a change or fix, I agree that everyones opinions should be heard to a degree. So that kinda feeds into my second question of what should the game be balanced around, the smaller amount of higher skill players, or the larger majority of average to lower skilled players. Should we as a community be looking at the top of the top and going "hey yeah we should fix this and that because at its peak it's not fair" or should it be "hey we need to look at these things that cause a problem for all but the best players, who ultimately can probably work around most obstacles anyway regardless of how unfair and unfun it may be for them"

What it explains isn't just that Player A can be wrong, but that they're only very slightly less likely to be wrong to begin with, because the acclaim they have required a different skillset. Regardless.

You have it backwards- that isn't the reason the data should be hidden, it's that there is no reason for the data not to be. MMR is just a matchmaking tool, you don't need to see it to know how good you are at the game because it's not that kind of system. OP suggested that being able to dismiss people's arguments out of hand because they're low rank was a reason to show MMR, and I'm responding to that to explain why it isn't.

Hidden data doesn't promote wrong feedback, it promotes evaluating feedback for yourself instead of going "well they're high MMR so they must be right", or "well they're low MMR so they must be wrong". We do not need more reasons to start dismissing arguments without even considering them- if someone's clearly wrong, then you should be able to deduce that they're clearly wrong without turning to what their rank is to figure it out.

I understand what you're saying, however I was thinking more along the lines of trying to explain to a lower rank player why their thinking may be flawed, and if they refuse to accept any sort of logic and reason, to give them proof of being wrong by simply showing them they are low rank, so whatever they've been doing has not been working for them for one reason or another, this proving there is a flaw in their thought process. For example, and I'm not going to say any names, but there was a post a couple days ago asking if Beast of Prey was actually a really good and underrated perk. And no matter how many people responded with explanation after explanation and reason after reason, the person just would not accept that he/she was wrong about the perk and even claimed to be using it to their advantage at high mmr which is incredibly doubtful and unlikely, I'm sure you'd agree

  • Well they did want the games to average out at 2 kills per game.. so.. first game, 4k. Second game, 0k. That becomes and average of 2k per game. Lol. That's the only thing I can think of other than just random chance

  • Are you sure you were undetectable for all the hits? If so maybe it's bugged. You could always try to have beast on, but also use other ways to become undetectable, could be an issue with beast itself

  • @Predated said:

To be fair, it's an offering, not a perk. Gaining that much benefit from an offering that cannot be countered would be a bit much. Right now, it's essentially a fancy 3rd hook, which is fine by all means. It can still bypass DS, making it quite usefull if you need someone dead.

Oh yeah and that's fine, I don't really want moris to be game changing like they used to be. Id just like if maybe you could mori, and have it still trigger things like BBQ or Pop. Otherwise it's a cool animation that I'll never see because it disrupts my gameplay.

  • @Volcz said:

If you're that guy on the team who lets the killer 2hook/kill everyone on your team while you don't take a single hook, you shouldn't be mad at the end result when you need saving and there's nobody to help you. Take pressure off your team or accept what happens when you're alone.

    This.

And also, let's just say you did have a chance to unhook yourself as the last remaining survivor. What then? What are you realistically going to do? If that was a thing, killers would simply wait at the hook because they have 0 reason at all to go anywhere else. There would be no other survivors to pressure. No need to stop gens. No need to protect gates. They would sit there and wait for you to unhook yourself, then smack you, and hang you back up on the hook.

What you're asking for doesn't make any sense

But how would a raven killer relate to the first teaser image (which I also have no idea what it is)?

Could be that the tower is where the nest is located. The nest being built at the very top of it?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2609626#Comment_2609626

You can instantly tunnel someone out if they’ve already been hooked twice without the fear of DS.

That's not what I was talking about though lol. I'm saying that if I'm using BBQ, or Pop, I don't ever want to mori because I'd be losing the info from BBQ and not being able to activate pop. The survivor side is irrelevant in what my argument is. There's no real incentive for me to mori anyone, and doing so is actually a detriment

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2609602#Comment_2609602

We've not released any further information about that.

Hopefully something rewarding? As it is now, playing any killer that uses info from hook perks like BBQ makes me never want to mori, as I'd lose that info. The trade off of seeing a nice little animation isn't worth it on most cases

  • @fiorefe said:

I still cant understand what changed/is going to change in moris.

Originally you could use them the moment you downed a survivor, no restrictions.

Then it turned into needing to hook them once each.

Now it's only available after you've hooked a survivor twice.

On the right side of the image, it looks like there's a crow skull hanging off of a wire or string. Really thinking the new killer has to do with crows in some way, or at least aesthetically will. Maybe we will finally have a killer that can interact with crows more so than just using Spies perk

And also at the top of the image appears to be a broken bone, also hanging off a wire. Random ornaments to adorn a nest, just like you might expect a crow or raven to use in building it's nest

  • On the right side of the image you can see what looks like a crow skull hanging off a wire, and then in the top what looks like a broken bone also hanging off a wire. Including the name of the image, it seems like it's probably the nest of a crow \ raven humanoid

The difference is that in dbd you can combat it by not doing the things survivors want you to do that get you bullied. In F13 you could try killing someone and literally get bugged out by a survivor and not be able to even play the rest of the match. F13 is a dead game, dbd is not. It's hard to say that F13 was a better game with that being the case

And hey, now that F13 can be worked on and updated.. if it comes back to life I'll eat my hat. But I bet you anything it won't.

  • Then you didn't play for long. You can look up videos of it happening if you need proof. There was also the fact that if you played as the runner chick, and Jason was a varient that couldn't run and only walk, if you juked his ghosty teleport thing, he could never catch you even with fatigue. There were plenty of games that I would just run around the graveyard gates til the 20 min timer was up and wouldn't ever be caught. And even if I failed a juke, well alright here take a pocket knife to the face and do it again. And then again after that. The game devolved to a bully sim even more so than dbd

Not true for console players. Friday 13th was immeasurably better than Dbd, but died because of the licence issue.

It started dying before that happened though. The moment everyone realized how simple it was to beat the hell out of jason, the game started to die. No one wanted to play jason anymore as it became a "bully the killer" situation, as well as the numerous ways to bug him out to prevent him from killing anyone, or even just straight up sending him to space with a baseball bat.

The license issue sped it up because of not being able to fix that or add new content. But it was sadly a dying game already.

  • There has been competition, it just hasn't been as good as dbd. And no one is forcing you to stay. Using your own example, no one is forcing you to eat. And if you really feel the need, you can always go try new foods, or even create something new yourself

everytime time someone says killers have it so bad right now, I just want to direct them to videos of dbd in 2016. We literally had 2 windows on killer shack, 2 window vaults at cow shed, nearly every junk tile had 2 pallets 20ft away from each other, we had literal infinites loops where you would never catch a survivor running it unless they literally stopped moving because the set up was horrendous and we had no blood lust. And yeah you could say "oh but you had instant moris!!!" Yes. We did. We also had instant gens. You could load into a game, and 20 seconds later hear 4 gens pop because the survivors each brought a brand new part that literally did 100% of the gen progress just by tapping a button. The state of being a killer in the game today is FAR FAR FAR from the worst it has been. It's infact in one of the best states it has ever been in. You doomsayers have no clue what you're talking about in the slightest.

Problem is before from a killers perspective it was fair and fun, with the recent nerfs/updates playing killer is frustrating and seems biased towards survivors. This paradigm shift will likely make some players look elsewhere, from reviews and watching game play VHS seems a viable alternative.Only time will tell i guess.

Shadow Step isn't really that strong, though? Removing scratch marks is only a moderately good effect for the survivor side unless you're in an indoor map, and removing auras is good but pretty easily played around in the long run by just not leaning on aura reading perks as your sole source of tracking.

Circle of Healing is strong, but worst case scenario there is just that instadown and Broken are going to be more popular, or killers will just commit to a down instead of hit-and-run. It's definitely strong and might need tuning down, but it's hardly apocalyptic.

Try running the house of pain when it has an active shadowstep and you might reconsider

The link takes you to an art museum website, with an article about a surrealist Chilean painter. However, upon loser inspection, the website is completely fake and made by BHVR. Clicking on any link on the fake website shows you co-ordinates to an abandoned minding town in Chile, a South American country.

We have likely just been teased the new killer, a Chilean painter with a dark history, as well as the new map - a deserted mine.

Or maybe this is a painting from the survivor instead. And their reason for disappearance is due to the killer, whatever it may be

  • @Dsalter said:

i would say rework deadhard so that taking a protection hit stuns the killer for 2 seconds and gives the protected survior a 5% haste for 3 second and reveals your aura for 7 seconds.

when you take a protection hit you are broken and exausted for 17/15/13 seconds and then mangled till healed back to full health.

this would make taking protection hits more akin to how kings lore fits him as well as promoting risky saves through protection while the 17/15/13 second heal+exhaustion perks disable would help stop them cheesing a medkit hemo into a lithe/balanced landing combo after a protection hit and the mangled would mean more downtime which many killers need lets be honest.

this would be far better than the current deadhard which to be quite frank is broken as it allows you to even "dodge" through things that shouldnt be jumped through like doctor zaps, victor latches, puke, bear traps, etc

Yeah that could be a good one too. I kinda feel like the exhaustion might need to be a bit longer to prevent the reset you're talking about but I really like the idea of what you're suggesting

Because it would fit David's lore as a character for one, it could be a good repurpose of dead hard so we don't have it being what it is now, and also it would reward playing altruisticly and not farming your teammates off a hook, just to have them tunneled and dead right away. Save your teammates from hooks, take a hit to protect them and give them time to run, and don't get punished for it by a camping killer, thus removing the incentive for the killer to even be camping in the first place

So basically, take away the killers reason to be there, and they simply won't be there anymore. Reduced camping and increased joy

Ngl, I've been a billy main since 2017 ish, (a lot more blight now tbh) and I'm still not super consistent with them. Id say I do ok, but I'm nowhere near as good as someone like ohtofu. That being said, seeing him play billy and land curves practically any time he wants to makes me think that it can definitely become a very consistent thing if it's all you do for long enough

But also with that, like other people have said, hitting that skill cap to be that consistent almost doesn't seem worth it when you can play someone like blight instead or even oni if you like his style (personally I can't stand it)

Yeah agreed but if it is abusable then its more unhealthy than camping

Sure. But it wouldn't be abusable if it only lasted 15 seconds. If the killer camps, they are punished for it. If they don't camp, it's no difference to them.

  • @Fobbo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2606949#Comment_2606949

If we had the old bt it would just encourage one person taking a hit and the other one going for the save and they would both be invincible for a little bit and it would be unhealthy for the game

Right, but if it is 2 separate perks, that's slots eaten up for it. And again as stated in my post, it would give even more reason for killers to not face / proxy camp and instead pressure another area. I'm fairly certain you'd have to agree that reducing the amount of camping would be a very healthy change to the game, right? And the invincibility would only last 10-15 seconds at most

  • @Yamaoka said:

    Personally I really think it's...

Hillbilly: Keep in mind I'm talking skill ceiling. Anyone can obviously play him and 4k bad survivors who run in a straight line, won't try to dodge when you've closed the distance and will be out in the open all the time instead of chaining loops/tiles.

If you want to have a chance to chainsaw decent survivors however you will have to master chainsaw-curving which is -in my opinion- mechanically the most demanding skill in Dead By Daylight.

It's easy to mess up a chainsaw curve as it requires optimal distance to the survivor, optimal positioning, optimal feathering of the chainsaw and most importantly unreal reaction times as the curve window is like 0.2(?)seconds.

On top of that a messed up curve basically resets the entire chase due to the long stun/cooldown animation resulting in huge distance to the survivor.

These may be a couple good curves of mine but hitting these on a consistent basis probably takes ages compared to any other killer:

    https://youtu.be/j5VQQ5al5KM

I know many people will think of Nurse but personally I think she merely has a high skill floor.

It obviously takes a while to understand her basics but once you do get the hang of her there's no specific thing you have to learn power-wise in order to be able to catch strong survivors.

    So what's your opinions?

I know I'm not adding a lot to this discussion, but I just wanted to say damn son, thems are some sexy curves.

  • The time penalty is really all you're gonna see

  • My expectations : More Bugs, More skins, (especially extra pricey legendary ones) more crying from both sides, more threats of quitting that are never actually held up, more "X game is gonna kill dbd" but doesn't even hold a match to it, and I'm just gonna keep playing because for some reason I love this game and just can't stop.

  • @burt0r said:

Oh yeah the instant mori as well as actual insta gens. You'd load into a game and hear "bing" "bing" "bing" "bing" look in the corner of your screen and see 1 gen left to do, 20 seconds into the game. Good ######### times

If it's 5 seconds to get to a pallet, 5 (usually more) before it's dropped, in just 5 seconds you'll go undetectable. 15 second is not that long, people don't realise.

Buddy you've gotta just give it up lol. Everyone is explaining why it's not a good perk. You have a somewhat decent idea but the actual usage just isn't there. If you're playing against the newest of new survivors, it might work. But that's it. No one is gonna be running it and thinking "wow why didn't I ever use this before" because it's just not good enough in comparison to other perks you can be running. If you really want stealth, there's better options. Have an open mind and accept what everyone is saying, the perk is not under rated. It's just bad

  • I want skimpy male outfits. The girls get em, why can't the guys? Yeah yeah, shirtless david. But c'mon, I want a shirtless dad bod ace. Or maybe a sexy fireman dwight. Is that really too much to ask for

  • You never played with a double window shack and 2 pallets at every junk tile. The game is not even close to the worst state it's been in. Maybe since you started playing, but not the games lifetime. Go watch some YouTube videos of 2016 dbd and you'll stop crying about what we have now

  • Buddy, you have no idea what the worst state of the game for killers was.

Believe it or not, there was a time when killer shack had 2 windows, no bloodlust, nearly every junk tile had 2 pallets, cow tree had 2 windows, and some structures were LITERALLY infinite loops. Not just "oh this loop might take me 30 secs to catch the guy running it" no, I mean literal infinites loops that you as a killer would NEVER catch the guy running it unless he stopped moving entirely.

The game is rough, but overall it's in the best shape for killers that it has ever been.

Well alright, this would be a separate perk. Borrowed can still do what it currently does, protect the unhooked, and dead hard could be the other half, protecting the unhooker. As one perk, yeah that's kinda messed up. But as 2 perk slots, seems not so bad

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 9
