Sky Billy is in the same boat as mods, most people used it for fun but there was DEFINITELY ways to use it to gain an advantage. I would know, since Ive learned certain rotations.
https://youtu.be/fVTmVDkUJRg?si=kshWcWzD0yToi08x
This is one of many, its just the only one I had recorded. To be able to get ontop of main that quickly is not just some small feat, it saves an immense amount of time.
Do I want this to return? Yes, it was fun learning these spots and was a way to express my knowledge and skill as Billy. In fact I want all techs to remain because all of them show some sort of skill expression, knowledge, and experience.
I remember that spot too, though I mostly used it to sit on top of the buildings next to shack with insidious and iri brick waiting for a survivor so I could make them ######### themselves via silent hillybilly form the skys (wouldve been great if the batman skin was out for him at that point :/) but like even in that clip when you factor the time to climb up, get onto the vault, line it all up properly its neglibly faster than just chainsawing over then walking up the stairs at main, sure you might get the slightest edge from the element of surprise but the spot is in view of the gen in main and a survivor on it would just be watching you wondering ######### youre doing. Its the nichest possible secnario of there being a survivor on the stairs who doesn't see Billy getting up on railings and start reving while looking straight at them where you gain an actual sizeable advantage over normal play.

I just want a real new new mechanic. Not like boons or invocations or that one perk type the lyras had which are a new type of perk and are barely even used. Something thatll actually shift up the gameplay loop a bit in every match.

The amount of scenarios where this happens can be counted on one hand. Its also not nearly as impactful as some other techs out there that are universally accepted. Urobending, Demo/Billy Slide, Drag Tech, Oni Flick, and the biggest offender of them all, (which some still say should return to this day) Sky Billy and Space Billy. There are more, these are simply the ones that come to mind.
If were going to be removing techs from the game we cant just cherry pick which ones. And I think we can all agree that getting rid of any of these techs would SEVERELY impact the skill ceiling of the game in general, and overall just make the game WAY more dull.
Crouch tech is fine, as stated previously it is basically a last resort to avoid a hit and just like a 360's, you can see it coming from a mile away. Only instance that should be removed is at shack since it can create a lose-lose scenario where you can crouch at the pallet, and regardless of what the killer does youre going down.
To be fair BHVR has removed many of the previously accepted techs. Biggest one to come to mind was Blight getting all of his flicks removed and his hug tech is going away next patch. Also I do think sky billy and space billy shouldn't really be considered along with any of these other techs or exploits or whatever you want to call them since it had literally no use cases to beneficial, it was just a silly map geometry thing rather than urobending or crouch tech which has genuine applications in chase.
Imo crouch tech is slightly problematic because of how niche it is which makes it really confusing to a player who doesn't already know what it is and its a lot more "######### just happened" to have a chainsaw pass through a survivor on the stairs to thompson house than to have an Oni turn around mid attack. Like at least with the other issues they are frequent enough that someone can reasonably learn to adapt around them, crouch tech just affects specific killers on specific maps in a confusing manner. Crouch tech is a much more confusing and buggy interaction which is why its more problematic imo.

I think Xeno is better personally, better mobility and map info with a power you can't really loop against.
Unknown is very good but it's difficult to get your hallucinations where you want them and it's still a killer you have to hit with 3 times.
People are gonna say turrets hold Xeno back like every Xeno isn't running E-Helmet, Star Chart or both and ike half of solos don't ignore the turrets completely.
If you know how to edge your power you can basically place the hallucinations anywhere you want.
-
Make it work when filling the heal progress bar instead of the healthstate change so instant pickups/syringe doesn't trigger it. No 100% sure how it would work on a technical level but that leaves both perks in tact while removing the combo.
-
Ah yeah. Honestly I would agree, just removing his heat and revamping addons wouldve been enough but the devs have said they sturggle with making good addons without the heat mechanic.
-
Too many killers are heavily countered by a specific perk or two. Doctor would be useless when everyone runs SB and Calm Spirit into him. Any killer who is known to bring a lot of aura perks (huntress nurse etc) you just bring distortion. Any killer who keeps lots of people injured easily (plague legion) you remove any healing perks and bring perks that are strong when youre injured. Any instadown killer you don't bother bringing perks that only work while injured or after being injured. Killers who are very hit and run orientated or need to keep people injured like twins you just bring a bunch of perks to heal faster. Many more examples but thats the general jist of thing, most killers have 1 specific build that will completely destroy them so letting survivors know the killer will just make them bring that build.

He never needed over heat just better control over turning and slightly less collision to prevent hits that made no sense. Overheat is cool but WAY to powerful for crossing the map and almost no cooldown between saws
I'm talking about overheat not overdrive, the mechanic he has before overdrive that gave him a cooldown/resource meter for his chainsaw and was universally hated and ruined the killer for the vast majority of players and made him one of the least played killersin the game.
-
We are slowly going to revisionism ourselves into saying overheat was a good mechanic lmfao.
-
Clearly the solution is to bring back spirit with no directional phasing noise so we all suffer equally. 😎
DBD is notoriously ######### at adding accesibility features, take the visual heartbeat that took ages to port from mobile or the colorblind incident and asking people to just be quiet about it.

The problem with balancing around kills is that at least 1 kill is basically guaranteeed if the killer just camps and tunnels on person. On the otherhand 1 escape is basically left up to RNG if you dont slug for 4k. The game shifts so much as soon as a survivor is killed so something like a 2 out is very hard to balance around. Since for a 2,3,4 out the same number of gens needs to be done its really quite a fine line. Once all gens are done unless the killer is running a ton of endgame perks its really coming down to just how long does the final chase last and how alturistic the survivors are. I think the most "fair" scenario is that there are 2 survivors left by the time gates are powered and the killer hooks and kills the 3rd survivor right as the last gen pops. Then its 1 survivor loops the killer, the other opens and gate and hopefully they both get out but then certain killers are extremely good at holding the gate and should have to deal with 3 survivors in the endgame but thats really hard to account for and balance around.
TLDR: Due to the progression of a match the game the killrate isn't really something you can balance for,
-
Yeah ngl whispers could use a buff these days. It used to be pretty powerful when you knew how to use it but these days so many other info perks have powercrept it that it would be nice to make it a bit strong and sorta counters distortion.

I'll always appreciate a wacky build. Like if you flipflop me or something and I find it funny I'l probably spare you.

Expect to be tunneled. A lot. You are probably the teams weak link, so the killer could identify you quickly and decide to tunnel you out.
As killer, expect for gens to fly like crazy and you getting laughed out of the gate. A lot. T-bags, twerks and flashlight-shows galore.
Glad to see the community is as nice as ever.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet. We have an FOV slider and shadowborn was reworked. You can now go into the options and set your FOV to what it USE to be with shadowborn equiped.
Oh damn thats huge I always hated default FOV but shadowborn felt like wasting a perk slot and I usually like gimmick builds that rely on 2 or 3 perks interacting with eachother.

That'd make him quite good at tunneling and basically a reverse Bloodlust, making Survivors slower.
Not sure if promoting tunneling in a Killers power would be a good idea.
*Pyramid Head stares nervously*

MYC Floods Pain Res and any flex perk (personally I run agi) is pretty great on killers who can easily TP back to hooks, specifically Demo Sadako and most of all Dredge I have found this build to be really fun and effective on.
-
On some maps the brown outfit is definitely better for steal, the eyestrain of trying to spot him on dead dawg still hurts to this day.

Still dont 'get' his power but pretty cool.

Overcome a good medkit and lucky break. I often thrown in COH into one of the other slots.

Sure, give me 5 best teams in the world
Let them play vs every killer 50 games
Then nerf any killer who makes more then 25 wins.
But therefore survivors dont need to be nerfed and this post is completely useless because these survivors arent VS the 5 best killer players in the world?

Yes they are, because game can't be balanced around bad players.
You can perfectly balance around top tier palyers, then just give low mmr buffs until they reach certain rank, it can be done if there is will
Ok then nerf every killer who has ever had a winstreak over 50? Pretty much most of them?

Sure, because RCPS and SBMM are simply that lenient...
Well do you really care that much about the invisible MMR linked to specifically Bubba? And how often do you really get RPD and you can always get good enough to the point where thats not an issue,

you shouldn't buy dbd on steam if you already have it on epic. just have both platforms, it's not like you have to devote yourself to only one platform.
the difference on steam is that you will see more of the community and there will be steam profiles, but honestly none of these are that important for many people.
PTB is another advantage of stream but I agree if you own it on epic no need to buy it on steam.
-
Used to play more killer now play way more survivor. Leon is sorta my main since I have all perks on him but Ill probably do Adam soon. Mikaela was my 1st p3 aswell.
-
Steam as a platform is generally just better and I'm not 100% sure if Epic has the PTB but Im pretty sure its Steam only.

My point was that I was better off just trade camping like all the other Bubbas
I suppose in a situation like that but at the same time you could better learn the killer and get more 4ks rather than just 1 or 2 from facecamping.
-
Very few. Most of the less homicidal maniac killers have had their minds altered by the entity to be more homicidal maniacs. You could argue mayb e like wraith if he managed to break free and like spirit too.

So... camp outside the range to keep your charges and then move inside the range when the survivor is 10 seconds away from dying / reaching struggle phase?
RPD is not a great map for him but also like that sorta sounds like a skill issue.

I agree. In fact, I think that EVERY killer should have their power disabled and the power meter totally drained while they are within x meters of a hooked survivor. They can still attack with M1, but having their power disabled would eradicate the BS (face)camping. Bubba is awesome in chases, fun to play as, fun to play against.
STBFL ######### that over then.
-
Alf is on a 500 winstreak with Nurse, some other dude on a 600 with Blight. Otz literally has a running seris of getting 50 winstreaks on every killer.
-
Not a fan of the grim embrace "buff" its already one of the more annoying activations for a mediocore effect, making the effect weaker and it being possible to proc a second time however now with even more annoying activation just feels like a nerf. Its not exactly common for killers to get 8hooks on different survivors and most of the time when they do its very late in the game. Sure it might be clutch if its like 1 gen left but its more likely to happen at like 3 survivors left or endgame where its just useless, and unless the survivors are already being absolutely stomped the earliest it will proce is probably when the last gen is close to being done.
-
Whats broken with it again? I dont use it much but my friend does and it sounds like its working perfect for him.
-
Feels clunky sometimes but still really good

Ohhh my bad. Missed that detail
Yup totally agree with OP. The dowsing rods are pretty #########. We should've gotten flans or ghastly gateaux or something.
I dont mind the offering since during the event they actually give pretty good amounts of BP and its a change from the usual just 100% extra at end of game and incentivise going for the new side objective even when you have all the cosmetics. My issue is them just being useless the second the event ends even in next years halloween event there will be a new one and these will be unusable.

Free perk for new players I guess and exhaustion perks are super popular. Either that or Otz made a video.
-
Survivor swapping sorta invalidates this. This entirely invalidates so many perks, and the whole reason is because shattered hope does nothing without boons. Better idea just ######### buff shattered hope to not being entirely dependant on boons.
-
Depends on how braindead I feel that day, some games I spend the whole time just lunging at everything and TBF it tends to work very well, even with the changes to pallet detection if you are willing to risk the whiff you can get a hit through, also it really shocks me how long killers lunges look sometimes like istg legion just has a hidden longsword they whip out for a special attack at the end of their lunge and every match of sadako I get even more shocked by her lunge.
-
@HugTheHag said:
Trust me, when you play killer, you'll feel like there are much fewer hooks overall :(
Got an unhookable Midwich since 1 hook spawns in the middle and the next closest one was literally basement. Once it was broken they kept running back to the middle and ended up bleeding out :)

Either way, I have not argued it has doesn't optimisation/performance issues... that does not change the fact that the PS4 is very underpowered now and nobody in any game company is going to invest resources into performance on obsolete hardware. The solution is to either live with it or upgrade... people may not like this choice but it is what it is.
Though if it is only one map the OP is having issues with they may even address that (RPD has always has issues though).
The PS4 should still be well able to handle DBD

Problem is the PS4 is very underpowered by modern standards and I don't know how much optimisation they can do to improve that in 2022
Nope that is not at all the case DBD is just optimised like utter shite. I experience more instability and frame hitches on DBD than other game with far far better graphics and can usually get better frames on other games.
-
Due to the shard sale and me having a few extra auric cells lying around I finally got Haddie, Adam, Yoichi and Jeff so the only survivor I need to get now is Yun Jin. I hasve like 70 AC left over so I just bought the red outfit for adam.

I just want deception to be bound to an ability button to really ######### with killer whether you went in or not.

Step 1: Use a power that has a global sound effect
Step 2: Profit?

Force of habit, I always expect it personally. Well, at least one hex perk. That's why I run Counterforce + Detective's Hunch. I'm the totem jokey
My totem jockey build is small game overzealous inner healing then usually like DH or SB for chases. I feel going full Detective's and Counterforce just makes the build to reliant on having a hex since otherwise youre wasting 2 slots to cleanse dulls, with inner and over you can get some of the time lost not working on gens back and a heal.
