I believe it's possible to release the chain before it breaks - I've seen it done, though I haven't done it myself.
-
The traps are only easy to remove when you're not the killer's sole focus. Eliminating the hatch as an option in that scenario would be a death sentence for the survivor.
-
It takes a second and a half to reveal Ghostface. That's plenty of time to move your camera if the reveal starts but you decide you don't want to have your location revealed.
-
Only certain walls can be destroyed. The destructible walls are easily identifiable by the red and blue coloured boards nailed to them. In order to destroy them, you just walk up to them and use the same button you would use to destroy a pallet.
Here is a picture of what the destructible walls look like - it's not a very good one, but hopefully it gives you enough of an idea:
-
It's definitely three pieces. I can see the icons for each separate piece in my PTB game folder.
-
Latency is just as much, if not more of an issue on a peer-to-peer connection. The only difference there is it's one-sided. Removing the servers won't solve any of the problems you mentioned. A better solution is to keep the servers for the sake of all the advantages they provide, and find ways to minimise the impact of latency on the gameplay - which, as you would have heard on the last stream, is exactly what they're currently in the process of doing.
-
I'm not a mod, but I can help you. Generally, we report bugs in the Bug Reports subforum here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bug-reports
Choose the category that best fits the issue you're thinking of (is it an issue with a map, a perk, a particular killer, etc.)
If it's a bug with the current PTB, there is a special section for PTB bug reports here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/-3-6-0-ptb-bug-reports
You can also report bugs directly to Support, which is probably the better option if it's the kind of bug that can be exploited. Here is the direct link to submit a bug report to the Support team: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191326

Apparently not. According to what the devs said in their latest stream, it's not actually possible for their system, or any system really, to tell the difference between, say, a game crash and someone manually ending the process, or between a network outage and someone intentionally turning off their internet to DC. So they basically have to either punish everyone or no one.

I just got four done in one game where the killer facecamped the first person he downed, WHICH IS CRAZY BECAUSE NO ONE EVER DOES THAT IT'S SO SO SO SUPER RARE IN THIS GAME. And then I got facecamped and died on my first hook too. Something seems off about that but who knows.
At least you got your progress! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say.

Thanks for answering so quickly.
That makes sense. I can only imagine that the only way this could be possible for consoles would be if PSN had a beta list for each game in which the developers can add/remove gamertags to allow testers to access and install a beta version of the game. I'm guessing someone has already thought of this idea maybe? :)
I don't know personally, but it's possible that the developers have looked into it. You can always make a post about it on the Feedback and Suggestions subforum in case they haven't thought of it already, since they do regularly go through the posts in that category and pick up any good ideas they find there for internal discussion.

No.. You're ignorant and that's offensive. Get off the forum and educate yourself.
Everyone is ignorant about a lot of things. If you get offended by someone else not knowing something, you're going to be offended an awful lot. If you want someone to know something that they don't, try gently informing them of it instead of taking their lack of knowledge as a personal affront.
-
If I did well in a game, I was able to get 2 or even sometimes 3 per game for that challenge. Remember to do generators solo, if you can - I'm pretty sure that co-op generators will only count for half as far as that challenge is concerned.
-
DBD isn't in beta anymore, so I assume you mean the PTB. It's accessible to everyone who plays the game on Steam, but only to them. It can't be accessed from PS4 or any other console, or even from the Windows Store on PC.
The reason for this is because the PTB is run through the Steam beta program. Certain software limitations make it very difficult to do anything similar on consoles. The devs have stated that while they would love to be able to make the PTB available to console players, it simply isn't possible at the moment.
You can find more details in this post here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/130916/
-
Like many survivor aura reading perks, it's highly underrated in my opinion. Killers break generators and pallets a lot more often than you might think, and being able to see their aura for five seconds every time they do gives you a lot of information. You know exactly where they are and what they're doing, and you can even guess whether they're in a chase or not (most of the time, killers kick pallets while in chases, and generators while patrolling). It can also be useful while looping, knowing whether or not a killer has stopped to break a pallet or not and which direction they went in afterwards.
Because so much of survivor gameplay relies on predicting the killer's movements, having that kind of certainty is very helpful in basically every situation. It's definitely far from a slot waste - I'd advise you to give it a go for yourself, and see if you think it's for you.

Here's the link to his lore on the official website: https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/the-deathslinger-lore

That's normal on the PTB, particularly if you don't live in a well-populated region like the US, because not everyone plays it, and most of those that do only do so for the first few hours to sate their curiosity. And, as LOA pointed out, killer queues are always longer on the PTB because people are generally more interested in trying out the new killer powers.

I'd love to see more feminine cosmetics, since that's the style I'm more personally into. My favourite hair in the game right now is Meg's "Carnie Long Locks". Doesn't even have to be frills and flowers, just more "pretty" things like that.

The problem aren't the rules, they are not silly and I don't see, why you think I have said something like that. The problem was for me your answers. Like yes, if my question was unclear for people like you, then I understand that and you could've just asked. Sometimes we just think different and that is fine.
But those replies theren't helpful. Atleast Echorion answered it with "Look in LeakByDaylight". Simple and helpful answer.
Enough of this useless discussion. I got my answer.
I thought that you had little respect for the rules because when FireHazard and I told you that sharing the content you were asking for was not allowed, you tried to argue with us that it shouldn't be a problem to share the pictures since "they're in the game files anyway". If that's not your true attitude, I'm glad to hear it, but I'm sure you can see how your comments made that unclear.
And I did ask, in my very first comment, for you to elaborate on what you were asking for. You're right, sometimes people do interpret things differently, and that is fine. Which is precisely why there's no excuse for you to be so rude about it to someone who was obviously trying to help you, just because they didn't give you the answer you were hoping for.
But fair enough. This subforum isn't for discussions, so I'll leave it at that. Just wanted to set the record straight.

Yes, I get it. But I don't get why they need to "answer" me like that. It was zero helpful even tho I now they are "trusted".
So, again. Thank you.
Because it's the correct answer. If we or anyone else, including Echorion, had shared those pictures with you, that person could have got in trouble with the moderators. If you think the rules are silly, that's fine I guess, but they're still the rules so no need to be rude to FireHazard over it. Neither he nor I have any input on the rules, we just try to follow them and encourage others to do the same.

Which new outfits are you referring to? If you mean the datamined ones, we can't help you unfortunately, as it's forbidden to share leaked content on the forums.

I'll try my best. I appreciate the concern ❤️
-
I'm pretty sure the reason is simply that they're always trying to do what they believe is best for the game as a whole, and in this particular update the majority of the community happened to agree. So number three would be the closest, but I don't think the community outcry was a huge wake-up call or anything - they surely saw that coming and as others have said, these changes have probably been in the works for a while now.
People tend to forget that there is actually a long-term plan - the team don't just sit down at a table every six weeks and go, "so guys, what should we nerf in the next update?" (I mean, they could, I don't know that for sure, but that's not how game development usually works and it's not how I believe the DBD devs work based on what I've observed of them personally).

Except that quoting what I quoted specifically lays out the devs' interest on survivor safety.
Like I said, you even admitted that the item change is a nerf to franklin's. It's a QoL change for survivors plus a slight nerf to killers. This is exactly what I said, a slight buff for survivors.
We have enough information to make an intelligent guess as to how the changes to toolboxes will effect the game. At what part of the game do you need a boost in repair speed? Towards the end where the killer is strongest and has the most map presence. What do these changes ultimately do? Change the current staggered repair bonus of the toolboxes to a quick bonus. If the changes were only to the charges and nothing else, it would be a clear nerf.
I have laid out why the sabotage changes are beneficial to survivors. Hook regeneration speed is quite meaningless, what matters is that a survivor can quickly sabotage a hook that the killer is on their way towards, preventing them from getting a hook. I said addons do make items more powerful, but the base items are powerful on their own. I don't see the double standard here, a regenerating hook is different from having addons be one use. I've laid out when the sabotage changes will be useful, and they will be severely detrimental for the killer when pulled off. Losing addons is tied to the bloodpoint system, not necessarily the balance of the game.
I have to admit, I'm intrigued by that first part. I cannot for the life of me figure out how you could possibly get "the devs are worried about survivors' safety" from that quote. Please explain? I'm genuinely curious.

Actually, VAC is even more useless.
At least according to anti cheat bypassing guide lol.
Well, every "mass produced" anti cheat is like that. To eliminate cheating custom solutions designed by the game developers are necessary. Multi-game anticheat will always have holes, because otherwise it would also block game related processes. Basically only game devs know what is possible/allowed in their game and what is not, so only they can block these things.
That's pretty much what he was saying, yeah. He didn't go into detail about why he feels VAC is better than EAC, though - I'll have to ask him about that when I see him tomorrow.

"For now, they will be exclusive to the upcoming map, where we’ll be experimenting with different uses. Breaking some may make a strong window loop weaker, allowing you to catch up much quicker. Others might open up new paths to get around the map faster. We’ll be keeping a close eye on how everyone uses them to see what works best before adding them to existing maps." -Verbatim from the dev update.
So a quality of life update is not seen as a buff in your eyes? You even admit it is, at the very least, a nerf to franklin's. Please reread what I said, I said this will be a slight buff to survivors, not a large one.
The sabotage changes will negatively effect the killer. Even though hooks will regenerate faster, what matters is the hook being sabotaged and the killer having the caught survivor wiggle free from their hands. This is an insane loss for the killer, to have to have spent the last 30-40 seconds trying to down a survivor for them to only wiggle free. Since the distance of getting a safe hook has been drastically reduced, survivors can exploit this with burning offerings and keeping track of where they are in relation to hooks.
The strength of the toolbox changes will not be in the first 2 - 3 gens of the map like they are now. The strength will be in the clutch part of the game, where the killer can patrol gens easier. It will make doing the last few gens that are more easily camped by the killer go by much quicker, which reduces the strength of 3 gen strats. This combined with the devs' intention to reduce the effectiveness of slowdown perks in the future will likely end up making toolboxes actually stronger in the long run. The devs have elucidated this intention by explaining how survivors can strategically use the toolboxes, instead of just slamming them right off the bat.
Addons increase the power of items, but items are still quite powerful on their own, especially if survivors bring 4 of them into a match. As a high rank survivor, I don't find the need to even use addons much of the time, having a green toolbox / flashlight / healkit is usually enough to drastically increase my chances of escape.
Actually what I've laid out shows that it's ultimately a buff to survivors. Breakable walls are a very large variable and we can't be guaranteed that they will be added to old maps because they might break old maps without those maps being significantly changed. The amount of breakable walls will matter too. I don't see what I've misunderstood in the dev update. I've clearly and concisely laid out what the changes are and what they mean for the game.
Quoting that line proves nothing except that breaking walls will improve things for killers - a point on which we have already agreed.
And no, Quality of Life changes are by definition not nerfs or buffs. They simply make the experience of playing the game smoother or less tedious, without actually affecting the balance of the game in any notable way.
Everything you just said about sabotaging hooks is already the case, and has nothing to do with the upcoming changes.
Once again, we don't yet have enough information about the toolbox changes to say which side they will benefit the most. Any speculation along those lines is just that - speculation.
Even if we assume you're correct in saying that add-ons don't have much of an effect on the power of an item, that doesn't mean that losing them at the end of every match isn't a nerf. Kind of like how the fact that hooks now respawn faster doesn't necessarily mean the sabotage changes aren't a buff. You're operating to a very obvious double standard here.
Nothing you have said, aside from your own speculations, indicates that the new patch is "actually a buff to survivors". With all respect, the fact that you still think it does tells me that I'm not going to be able to convince you to look at things objectively, and so I probably shouldn't waste any more of my time trying. Others have already made many of the same points, so if you want additional counter-arguments, look to them instead.

I don't know - not being learned in server operations myself, I wouldn't presume to know whether or not something like that is possible. Generally, if you don't know how something works yourself, it's a good idea to assume that those who do, know what they're talking about.
Again, if you do happen to know how these things work, and know a solution that would actually be useful for them to implement, I'm quite confident that the devs would love to hear about it.

Be sure, I actually hate this game because it is because of the updates and changes that will make players seriously cancer. but now we can wash the walls I don't know what it means ptb will answer it.
You lose the add-ons no matter what happens. It doesn't matter how many charges are remaining on the item.
-
If you happen to have technical know-how that the devs don't, and you know of a way for the servers to tell the difference between the game crashing and someone manually ending the process, I'm sure they would be glad to hear about it.

I've clearly laid out my points here, you are free to take them apart and refute them with evidence from the update notes.
Whether or not the devs are trying their best is actually irrelevant to this discussion.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1103820#Comment_1103820
Breakable walls may be too strong for killers, and it may make certain loops too unsafe for survivors. If every other map in the game has to go through significant changes to make breakable walls viable in this update, the devs are not likely to implement them in the old maps. Maybe new maps going forward, but not old maps.
Alright, I'll take it seriously.
There's nothing really to address in that first paragraph - you admitted yourself that it's actually a buff to killers, small though it may be (and small for very good reasons, none of which have anything to do with "not wanting survivors to be too unsafe" - that right there is pure conjecture, as survivors' safety wasn't even mentioned in the official post).
Item retention is barely anything more than a QOL change. You could interpret it as a minor nerf to Franklin's Demise, but that's it. The vast majority of survivors already use their item up until the last couple of charges so that they will be able to leave the match with it. This update is not encouraging anyone to use any items that they don't already use. All it's doing is making it less of a pain to do what almost everyone already does.
The sabotage changes actually look like they'll be to the ultimate benefit of killers in my opinion, but we simply don't have enough information about it to know for sure one way or the other yet. Numbers will make all the difference here. It's highly presumptuous to refer to it as either a buff or a nerf at this early stage.
Toolbox changes, again, depend on numbers. You even acknowledged as much yourself. The most compelling evidence we currently have access to one way or the other is the statement that "the amount of time saved with a Toolbox is much lower overall", which I would argue therefore indicates that, based solely on the information we currently have, the toolbox changes can be considered an overall nerf.
You also left out of your original post the fact that survivor add-ons now disappear after the match, which is a very obvious nerf to survivors, and the significant buffs to Plague and Trapper and what is arguably a buff to Doctor as well.
So basically, none of the points you mentioned conclusively constitute a nerf to killers or a buff to survivors, and some of them are quite the opposite. You have also extrapolated unfairly on certain parts of the dev post, and conveniently omitted certain other parts which don't support your narrative, both of which make it very difficult to interpret your argument as anything more than propaganda - ironically enough, considering the title of the thread.
-
Ah yes, they've had us all fooled and only the most wise and astute of players are able to see through the veil of lies to the true intentions beneath!
... Or maybe they're actually doing their best to make the game better for both roles, and you're just trying really hard to pretend that isn't the case so you can keep feeling hard done-by.
Sorry if that seems harsh, but as @Dehitay suggested, anyone who isn't actually biased towards either role can clearly see that this update is pretty much a net benefit to everyone.
-
According to a friend of mine who is a game designer that I was discussing this with the other day, EAC is pretty much useless and actually makes hacking easier. I have no idea why it's in DBD, especially since they have VAC as well, which from what I hear is superior in every way. But I'm not a developer, this is all second-hand from my friend, so maybe there's something I'm missing.
That said, hacking is absolutely punishable in DBD. If you reported them in the scoring screen after the game (which is compulsory), you can send the video evidence you implied that you had to Support and they will deal with it appropriately.

Don't make the mistake of assuming that everyone in a particular group is the same. Just like "some" survivors make up stupid rules, so do "some" killers. It's entirely likely that the killers who complain about stupid survivor rules are not the same ones making up stupid rules themselves.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Flashlights work the same as all other items under the new changes, in that they will no longer vanish once all their charges run out, they will just become useless. If you escape while carrying the item, you won't lose the item itself, but you will lose any add-ons unless you have Ace In The Hole equipped.

I'm also on NBN and I've had dips. Might just be a proximity to server thing.
The water would probably affect it, because things like that do mess with wifi signals. But your ping to a Sydney server should be great, based on your location. I know people in Brisbane with great ping. The only explanation I can think of is that consoles somehow have a harder time with it than PC. Maybe because the infrastructure is newer and they're still ironing out the kinks?

Where do they say the servers are based in Sydney. I have 50- ping connecting to any Sydney server. But dead by daylight can give over 200 sometimes, it’s not local at all. My friend mentioned it could be Singapore servers. You’re a rare specimen that’s somehow getting local ping. It could just be pc like you say. But not sure. Need a devs answer.
Says it right here, in the Dedicated Servers Status Update from last September:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/87216/status-update-dedicated-servers
There's only one server in Australia, and it's in Sydney. The system will always attempt to connect players to the server with which they have the lowest latency, which should be the Sydney one unless you're in very specific places on the west coast, in which case Singapore might be slightly closer. So it's not rare to get local ping - everyone I know, who is either in NSW, VIC or QLD, gets similar ping to me. I'm unsure why the discrepancy exists where you're getting ping that's so much higher - the only thing I can imagine is that it has something to do with platform, since that's the only uncommon factor.

I noticed that BHVR has finally made an update that will delight. However, there is a problem that I do not understand.
Anti-Haemorrhagic Syringe, Styptic Agent and Brand New Part will we lose the item when we use them? or just delete add-on?
It would be great if it would just disable instead of deleting!
Anything that disappears on use, such as the BNP, syringe, styptic, keys, etc. will still disappear, because they don't work based on charges, they just disappear after they're used. The only change being made is that if an item, like a map, toolbox or medkit (or a key, if it's used for aura reading rather than to open the hatch) loses all its charges, it won't disappear, it will just become useless for the rest of the match, but you will still be able to escape with it and keep the item.
EDIT: The above also applies to flashlights. I just forgot they were a thing.
