Sounds like connection issues. What happens after the disconnect - do you get an error message or anything like that?

I have already! Either way thanks, cheering for the devs to find something.
As am I 😊 I really hope they'll be able to find a solution soon so that you can get back to your games.

I understand why I was confused now. Leveling up Michael for the first time is only 2 level ups, and I was thinking it was 3. It makes way more sense why I’m not getting the challenge done in one game. Thank you!
Glad you got it sorted! 😊

@stufoot99 said:
So the challenge is asking me to get into EW3 4 times? I always thought it meant to just level Michael up to a higher level 4 times. If it’s the former then that makes more sense on why I always get 3 of 4.
No, I believe it does mean levelling Myers up 4 times, not necessarily to tier 3. That's why I asked if you were having trouble in games where you got to EW3 three times (because in order to get to EW3, you need to get to EW2 once, so that makes four level-ups in total).

Why would it be harder for original to licensed if it’s just for a cosmetic?
Because they have to go through negotiations with the license owners, and it's likely easier to get their approval on the idea of transforming their characters into their other characters than on the idea of transforming someone else's characters into theirs.

I'm glad that most respondents have elected to ignore the full content of my post in order to levitate their own egos- exceptional community. @PrettyFaceKate thank you for your thoughtful response. I've played around with running Nurse's and the mangled add-on- I genuinely think this challenge is bugged on console.
You did ask in your OP if they had any "notes for the community", which I expect most people took to mean that you were inviting them to share tips for the challenge, so that's what they did. It's not about "levitating their egos", they were trying to help.
If you think the challenge might be bugged, you can submit a bug report here (but make sure to check if there's already a thread about it first): https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

As others have said, it's about focusing on the right things and tempering your expectations. It doesn't matter if other people think you're bad at the game, because most of them don't know what they're talking about. The only thing that matters is what you think of yourself, because having an accurate perception of your own skill level is the first step to improving.
Most of the killer games I play, especially if I'm not playing my main, I go in not expecting to win but just hoping to get some practice. And then if the survivors taunt me about missing all my hatchets or something, I can just laugh about it because target practice was all I wanted so I still succeeded in doing what I set out to do.
Basically, have a goal for yourself and try to meet that, whether your goal be a 4K, a pip, finishing a daily, or just learning a thing or two about whichever killer you're playing. If you get outplayed and don't meet it, that sucks but it's okay. Be kind to yourself. The important thing is that the only standards you're trying to meet are your own, because you can never please everyone else and you'll make yourself very unhappy trying.
-
If they're invisible on Steam, they'll appear offline ingame but they can still click on your name and "request to join" (which could work as a workaround even if they're not invisible but just not showing up). Otherwise, if they're just not appearing offline, having both them and you restart your games and/or Steam usually fixes it for me.
-
It's possible with add-ons, but either way you're not necessarily supposed to do dailies in a single game, some of them take 2-3 to complete. Unless you're saying that you got to EW3 three times in a single game and still didn't get the challenge?

Thanks for the support. I think I'm gonna take a break and see what they have done to the game in a while. :)
Fair enough. Hope to see you back in the future, then! 😊

I think the rate at which you gain items and add-ons is fairly balanced, and I don't think the cosmetic grind is a problem either, since it doesn't impede on the gameplay in any way and it's there as an alternative to paying real money for things, so it's perfectly reasonable for players to have to put in a lot of work to make up for that.
I do think the perk grind is too much, though, since the amount of time it takes to be able to play the game with all its content available is frankly ridiculous. For what it's worth, though, the grind has been confirmed to be on "The List" of things they plan to address at some stage (though what form that will take, I have no idea).
-
For what it's worth, Dead Hard and Vaulting are latency issues which the devs have confirmed on multiple occasions that they are working on fixes for. The community, unfortunately, isn't really something that's within their control, but you can definitely play the game without having to engage with other players just by turning off the chat. Both additional graphical options and crossplay have also been confirmed to be coming within the next year, along with a complete graphical overhaul that will significantly improve the game's atmosphere and visuals.
-
I'm sure we can all agree that only banning people who disconnect intentionally would be the ideal scenario. But how, then, do we tell the difference between people whose network goes out and those who turn off their connection to bypass the penalty? Or between people whose game unexpectedly crashes and those who kill the process or turn off their machine? The answer is, we can't - there are so many ways to bypass a penalty that only works off intentional DCs that it would render the entire operation ultimately pointless if that were how the system worked.

So why cross-play will be introduced if it'll make it worse?
Some people think that the alleged skill gap between PC and console players of the same rank will exacerbate the issue. On the other hand, crossplay means larger matchmaking pools, which means you're more likely to get quicker and better matches with people of your (theoretical) skill level.

I'd say either with the Silent Hill chapter, or after like a mid-chapter patch. but the new lighting with updated lockers, pallets, chests, generators, and items like flashlights, toolboxes and med-kits. I expect with the Silent hill chapter. the map overhauls I think will take time, and if so they will most likely come out in this order. ''I'm only listing the first few''
- first will be.."Badham Preschool".
- second probably at the same time as Badham..."Lampkin Lane" I think this cause they could borrow assets from each-other.
- third will be "Family Residence" along with Sanctum of Wrath same reason as Badham and Lamkin.
- fourth will most likely be "The Backwater swamp" collection of maps, this is because they have already updated most of the assets and added volumetric fog.
The rest will probably come out within a few months. I hope i gave you some hope lol
Definitely won't be coming as soon as the Silent Hill chapter, and I'd be very surprised if it came out in the mid-chapter either. At this point in time, they've probably pretty much finished the content for the mid-chapter and will be moving into QA and bug fixes and such. The way they presented it on the stream was still very much as a work-in-progress that probably won't be out for many months. My guess would be maybe end of this year or early 2021, depending on how optimistic we're being. All we really know at this stage is that it will be sometime within the next year.

Pig has been my absolute favourite killer to play against since her release, so I don't know what they're on about. Unless you did something particularly mean, like crouching after them to make them die to the RBT.
-
Because as you pointed out yourself, there's not enough correlation between hours played and skill level for it to be a reliable factor in which to base matchmaking.
That being said, there are a lot of flaws with the current ranking system (although the fact that it doesn't take hours played into account is not one of them in my opinion), not least of which is the fact that matchmaking itself is bugged and not working as intended. The entire system is being overhauled within the next few weeks, which should hopefully fix a lot of the issues with unfair matches that players are experiencing currently.

Thank you for the compliment!
Now that you mention it, I'd be shocked if there wasn't a bit of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation going on. This bites a lot of developers sooner or later when content gets delayed or release dates have to change, because consumers throw fits at the slightest rumble of not getting what they want when it was promised. So, a lot of developers default to "Soon(tm)" mentality.
I think the bigger thing is just going "Hey, we hear you about issue X, and we agree that A, B, and C are the most urgent aspects of this that need to be fixed. We are actively working on it." They don't do a lot of that. I think that, even without giving concrete deadlines for this-or-that deliverable, they could build some goodwill and positive sentiment through more frequent and direct acknowledgement -- and, in some cases, some really clear discussion of their philosophy.
Like, I complain a lot about what I feel are the issues with the perk grind, and how they could be solved, but nobody at Behaviour ever engages on this topic. Maybe what I want is totally out of line with their internal philosophy about what the perk grind should look like and why, but nobody ever articulates that. That's the kind of thing I would like to see more visibility on. My dim assumption is that -- to continue using this as an example -- they harbor what they see as an embarrassing "We're terrified of what would happen to our player retention numbers if we made it easier" philosophy toward maintaining the grind as-is, but I wish they would just own up to it either way, if this is how they feel. (At least, if this were the culprit, it would open up some discussion about what the actual issues around player retention are.)
In my experience, they do actually do a lot of the acknowledgement thing, particularly on their streams. They just don't get a lot of credit for it because people are too busy being mad that they don't have dates and all they can say is "we're working on it". But that's their response to at least half of the questions they get asked regarding proposed balance changes, bug fixes, etc.
Regarding the grind, that's definitely something they've acknowledged. Maybe not on the forums, I'm not sure, but I've been told by a dev that it's something which is on the list to be addressed (though I don't know if that's specifically in reference to perks, or bloodwebs in general, or what). So it's possible that you're just looking in the wrong places - though at the same time, maybe they could do more to make the right places more accessible.

When I say "content pipeline," I am referring very broadly to the product's entire post-launch development road map, which would normally build in resources for bug fixes and QoL. What I'm saying is that Borderlands 3 likely began its existence with this kind of forward-looking momentum in place, whereas Dead by Daylight has grown in a way that they didn't initially conceive of. So to a certain degree, they're still fixing things with duct tape, so to speak. I think they could marshal their resources more effectively, but the foundation of the game probably still needs a lot of work.
Regarding speed of acknowledging and resolving issues, yeah, like I said, this is also a community engagement issue. It's hard to know what's really important to them and what issues they are focusing on, because many things about this game's development are so opaque, and we're often left going "OK, what's up with this major thing?" for too long. I don't want to speculate on what the internal lines of communication between development and CM look like, but given the fact that we are having conversations like this, it could probably be improved.
Just wanted to say I think you're doing great here - saying everything I wanted to say when I read the thread just now, and much better than I could have!
For what it's worth, I believe the main reason they're so opaque with their communication is because they used to be super transparent and the community were not very appreciative of it, getting angry and resentful whenever plans changed because a feature or bug fix was taking longer than expected to implement. (The event last Halloween is probably the best recent example.) So they decided it would be best if they just didn't tell people anymore what their plans were until they were certain they could deliver on them, which is why now we only get announcements of new features when they're nearly ready, and we never get exact release times until a day or two beforehand because the devs are afraid of the backlash from disappointing us. Ironically, they lose either way, because now everyone's disappointed that they're not being communicative enough 🤷

Not trying to bust balls, but with all the success and $ they've made off cosmetics, console, and mobile, you think they could afford to hire a few more to hammer out issues that have been here for over a year. Just saying...
Perhaps they could, or perhaps their daily operations are more expensive than we give them credit for. Another possibility is that they only hire people they need - or, to put it another way, the goal of a business is to make the maximum profit, so they're only going to be looking to hire people who would make them more money than they spend. Point is, none of us really have the faintest clue what BHVR's accounts look like. That being said, they are constantly advertising dozens of job openings on their website, so it's not as if they aren't trying.

Okay yikes, I did not know they were that thinly spread.
Yeah, they are actually still pretty small in spite of what people like to say. The balance team, for example, I think is only about half a dozen people, if that.
-
@DelsKibara said:
First off, let me just put into context.
BHVR as a whole company only employs 500 Employees. That's not 500 Developers, that's 500 employees.
Meaning they don't have 500 people working on the code of the game. That's up to the programmers. Which as far as I can tell, isn't exactly a big enough team to do weekly changes like what you're asking.
They are not a huge company like Rockstar or Ubisoft, and their resources are rather limited, so weekly updates would just not be possible for them to do.
Incidentally, only about 200 of those are involved with the production of DBD at last count.

you technically can skip it but there is no reason too. The teachable perks always appear in the same order for bill its Level 30 Left Behind, Level 35 Borrowed time and level 40 Unbreakable. While you can in theory not learn the teachable at level 30 there is really no good reason to not too unless you really dislike the perk and would rather never see it ever again in any other bloodweb than bills. It can reappear though as a teachable from what i have heard.
You could also get extreamly Lucky and get the Teachable you want from the Shrine of Secrets but to get the exact perk you want from it is insanly rare.
Just to clarify, OP isn't asking whether they can skip unlocking teachable perks by letting the Entity claim them in the bloodweb, they're asking if they have to get the perk if it's the last remaining node on the bloodweb - that is, if all others have been claimed by either them or the Entity and the only one left on that web is the teachable perk.
-
We don't know precisely when Demon Slayer Feng and Mr Puddles are coming to the Store, but it has been confirmed that they will eventually. In the past, we've been told that it will take at least 6-12 months after the corresponding Rift has closed for items to appear in the Store. So, following that pattern, we'll probably see the new Legion and Claudette outfits a few Rifts from now (maybe Rift 6 or 7) and they'll be available to buy in the Store at least 6-12 months after that.
As for the unique outfits coming to the Store, it's possible. We don't know for sure - the only thing we've been told is that "most" of the Rift rewards will eventually be available for individual purchase in the Store.
-
You're in luck - they're releasing the new system within the next month.

@Fibijean That screenshot is a wonderful sight, thank you for sharing it! 😆😱 A picture depicting how a boop on the snoot can go such a long way!
I think I missed a chance to boop a pig in a recent match, they were crouched behind a tree and I was crouched on the other side...hearing the heartbeat and waiting for it to go away so I could go over to the generator nearby...it was only when I turned my camera that I realised she was right there! We stared at each other for a few moments, she did a few roars and then promptly downed me...I did miss a good chance to boop the snoot indeed 🤣😔
Ah well, next time! 🐷❤️

@Rydog Thank you for your answer and the welcome! It’s interesting to see the perception of this from the killer’s side, I had been given the hatch before but never ‘challenged’ by the killer themselves in terms of getting it as the last survivor. It was a completely new experience for me, and I’m glad to see that it’s not unusual!
@Fibijean Thank you for your answer and explanation! I’ve heard of farming before but thought it was only something that happened during the match to all survivors (never knew it could happen to the last survivor standing). I’ve never had a killer farming within the match before, so I was even more surprised that they wanted me to farm as last survivor! Thank you for the reassurance in terms of whether I should be concerned or not, I wasn’t sure quite what this was, particularly definition wise, and was worried that I had involuntary teamed, glad to see that wasn’t the case.
As for the match you had against a Pig, I have had yet to have the snoot booped! Hopefully I’ll have that experience one day, I’m imaging it’s when the survivor points towards the snoot at close range? 😆😱
Yep, that's right. Usually the survivor will crouch down and approach the Pig, who then crouches in turn to allow their snoot to be booped. Some Pigs will even "snort" by spamming the ambush attack button to indicate that they're happy to be booped. The Pig in my match was so pleased that she came and helped us with the generators 😆
-
That challenge's description appears to be bugged in all non-English versions of the game. What you need to do is damage five different generators in a single trial as the killer.
-
It's possible, but honestly I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. Not because I don't think the devs are capable of delivering something awesome, but just because literally the only information we have about legendary skins so far is that they will be a thing, so no one really has any idea what to expect at this stage.
-
So to answer your questions, yes, while BP farming is not so common that you're likely to run into it in the majority of games, it isn't extremely rare either and does happen on occasion. I had a game just yesterday where a Pig did just that after having her snoot booped by the majority of the team.
As far as the game rules and bannable offences go, farming in itself is not a problem, so no, you shouldn't be concerned in this case. The only times when farming is a problem is (a) if you try to force other survivors to participate and/or punish them if they don't want to, or (b) if it was a reward for working with the killer to intentionally get your teammates killed.
-
If it's the last available node, you can't skip it - you'll have to get it if you want to progress in the bloodweb.
-
@ScottJund said:
I don't think the base premise of "Saying boring is an excuse" even makes sense. An excuse for what? Losing? You can win and still be extremely bored. If you're bored, you're bored.
I think what they're trying to say is that something being boring isn't a good enough reason to call for balance changes to it, because boredom is subjective. I think OP's idea that people tend to become bored in games when they feel helpless, and therefore that "X is boring" could be seen as a cop-out to avoid thinking more critically about what they could do to counter X and so not be so bored playing against them, does hold some weight. That being said, if "X is boring/unfun" is an opinion held by the vast majority of players, that's almost certainly indicative of some more serious error in design, not necessarily the players simply being too lazy to make their own fun.
-
That's right, share my failings with the world!
In all seriousness, I suspect it might have to do with that particular trap placement (perhaps it was closer than it should have been to the wall) and/or the angle you were trying to untrap me from. Still a bug, obviously, just trying to provide helpful speculations.

Self care is like that because of lower ranks. It's not that common in red ranks. In red ranks, DS, DH, & BT are definitely wayyyy more common than self-care. Unbreakable & a few of the other meta perks are more debateable.
Perhaps on your region and at your platform, but remember that DBD is played globally across 4-5 different platforms, and the meta culture isn't the same everywhere.
-
I doubt it. The only reason legacy was timed was because they decided to overhaul the bloodweb and didn't want to screw over those who had already prestiged characters under the old (much grindier) system. Legacy was introduced as compensation for that, and they announced that they would be changing the system and giving out legacy skins about a month in advance. But it wasn't like an event or anything - they didn't plan it as a reward, it just happened because they wanted to change something else.
The only way I can see something similar happening here is if they're planning to overhaul the bloodweb again and are introducing rewards for those who have prestiged up to now as a kind of second-generation legacy.
-
Matchmaking is a problem for everyone on all platforms. They devs are planning to introduce an entirely new system within the next month that will hopefully solve the issue.

At least a new meta will be refreshing. It will also fix how common these metas are. The pick rate of some of these meta perks is astronomical compared to most perks, which isn't a healthy sign.
Just for the record, statistically the only perk with an astronomical pick rate is Self-Care. There may be good reasons to change the perks you mentioned, but disproportionate pick rate isn't one of them.

You would get Nancy, and you would get Steve and Nancy's torn sweaters (the DLC-exclusive cosmetics). You wouldn't get your AC refunded or anything like that.
-
- Yes, this worked for me in the "three stabs in one frenzy" challenge on the previous level.
- Other survivors can help you cleanse them, there just need to be none remaining at the end. Hatch escapes should count - if they don't, that's a bug.
- The latter. You don't need to fully repair the generators, you just need to work on them for at least one second each.
