I mean sure but then every tile becomes an infinite for killers than can´t hit over them xD
Don´t worry though, I know when you start killers seem fast but once you gain enough experience you realise most of them are not hard to loop. There are some obvious exceptions like Nurse, Spirit or Blight where you just have to hope the player controlling them isn´t good or else you just die, and these wouldnt even be affected by your suggestions.
There are also some really good guides on how to play survivor on youtube, I recommend you check them out and practice! I promise you will laugh about this suggestion of yours in no time :)
-
It´s possible but unlikely. You would need to massively outskill the team while also playing a strong killer. It´s like asking whether you could beat Mayweather in a boxing match - you (hopefull) have 2 hands and 2 legs, so it´s technically possible, but don´t expect it to work :)

Except that you dont make them miss their shots, it is them missing. There is not really input on the Survivor Side against Deathslinger, if they are good, the Survivors cannot really do anything.
@Topic:
Tofu is right with his video. If we look at the Killers released after Oni, they all have the same pattern - except for Blight, who is branded as one of the most fun Killers to play and play against, because he does not follow this concept.
But I would say, it is too late now, now we have the Shift + W - Meta and way too many Killers with oppressive Chase Potential.
I also agree with Tofu on Maps. Maps should be desigend with TONS of unsafe Pallets which are playable for both sides and just very few safe ones.
This would have multiple advantages:
- Killers would not be forced to kick Pallets right away, making Chases more interesting
- Good players can actually utilize those Pallets, making them more skillbased than just running structures
- Because there are many of those Pallets, bad players cannot really screw their team by wasting all the ressources. A Rank 15 Meghead blasting through multiple Jungle Gym Pallets will hurt her team more than the same Meghead playing unsafe Pallets
BUT for this, obviously, Bloodlust needs to go, however, we all know how much handholding Killers need and that nobody can expect them to play without their free Speedboost for playing badly.
I wanted to give you an upvote up until I read your last paragraph. It strikes me as massively ignorant. In the 15s it takes BL to kick in, they didn´t even gain 10m on you, so unless they get a jumpscare on you bc you were listening to music they are bound to get it whether they play well or not. Let´s also not pretend that tons of tiles weren´t 100% save even when they reach BL3 (at which point the game is over anyways).
-
Shame that a "health chapter" is something they adamantly decline. Unless there´s a massive boycot because of the deteriorating quality of the game, they will never commit to better game health. :(
-
Both are not exactly fun to play against imo, but Trickster is much stronger than trapper. Trickster can´t be looped at low tiles, has his power more readily available and can mindgame better because he´s the smallest killer. His chase is generally so much better than trappers simply for being able to get health states at a range, plus he can punish unhooks much more.
Trapper on the other hand....well, on every reworked map the traps stand out like beacons (same for indoor maps) and even if you´re not paying even the slightest attention and happen to step on one, chances are you´re out before he gets to you. Add the fact they have to sacrifice several gens worth of pressure to get a slight chance of their power giving them value and you have a recipe for weakest killer in the game. Voilá.

@stikyard said:
Buffing his trap capacity seems like an easy fix that many have suggested. I wonder why BHVR has held back on this? Kill rate too high?
Their stats are not the only consideration for balance, if they were then Nurse would be buffed(statistically the weakest killer) and Pig would be nerfed (iirc she´s the 3rd strongest in terms of kills), so it can´t be that. My guess would be they just don´t care enough which is a shame. Isn´t he like the mascot of dbd?
-
I always found it dumb that he had a limit to his carrying capacity in the first place. Like, it takes them several gens worth of time to set up properly and if they happen to spawn close to a trap they can´t even pick it up without yellow bag. Then there´s the fact that he is f tier in chase and his traps may or may not be helpful because they´re easily countered and 99% of the time a net loss. Big yaaawn when we face trappers.
-
B-bb-but what if someone goes down from honing stone? This would clearly break the balance of the game, hence making this change a bad idea, sorry.
/s
-
Myers only migrates between bottom and mid D tier depending on his addons, big yaaaawn when facing him :D

I hate to say wait but I do think it would be best to wait until they finally "fix" the performance issues that came from this patch. Currently they are listed as a known issue. Reaching out too early BHVR could say 1. It's known issue or 2. "next patch will fix performance issues" which would completely ignore the optimization from before that we've been pushing for with this post. Usually the first patch after chapter isn't a good one, as they have said it's mostly crap from ptb not from live release.
The console people have been waiting for well over 2 years for the devs to act on their word (goal: 60 fps on all platforms) and not only have they not delivered on that, they made it worse so now even pc players are affected by their disregard for game health. I get your point but many people are outraged, and rightfully so.

Yeah im having the same experience
At least things haven't got worse!
It´s so sad that the bar for our expectations is so low that we´re pleasantly suprised when their health patches at least don´t make the performance worse.

We have acknowledged the issues - it's even pinned on the very front on this forum and has also been addressed on Twitter and Discord.
Maybe try a different, more transparent approach then? For example: "We are taking x,y,z steps to achieve an average 60 fps on all platforms, a process that began in march 2019 and we´ve accomplished a,b,c and are currently finishing up d,e and f. We´re happy to announce that it could be finished at x date (no confirmtion though as unexpected problems can arise along the way)".
-
Agreed but they also made it very clear that pushing new content takes priority over the quality/health of the game. If I recall correctly, not_queen stated that there will never, ever be a health chapter or something comparable in a dev stream late last year >: (
-
That twitter post is kinda disappointing. I´m afraid they might slightly increase the performance of nemesis and continue to neglect the general performance of the game :(
-
We rarely blame the killer for tunneling (our definition might differ from others though) because most matches require them to go hard on the survivors. Unless the killer outclasses the team tremendously (or plays an s tier killer) they just have no chance, especially if they go out of their way to be nice and generous.
-
I got a few ideas :)
-60 fps on all platforms
-Spirit addon pass (read: massive nerf across the board), longer base recovery, directional cues while phasing and clear indicator for when she does
-reduce blight bouncing speed by like 10-15%
-longer base recharge and fatigue for nurse
-kindred base
-buff all the trash killers, we would really like to see more variety :(

I think he's fair like he is. I would have to think about that, definitely not the purple bag, that would be way too OP.
But why not use a bag if you want a bag? One spawns in every bloodweb so I think that makes it fair.
It´s funny how you think the worst killer is fair :D

I mean, the devs are fine honestly.
Devs like Janick or McLean are really passionate about the game and try their best to make DbD a good game.
I assume that it's the higher ups at BHVR that are responsible for this whole mess.
Imagine having "we don´t care how well it runs" as a business philosophy lol
-
It´s not exactly a buff though? They´re still super easy to spot, especially on coldwind, ormond and any indoor map. If one of us steps on a trap we literally laugh at him lol

Why are they F tier? Isn't their killrates well over 2K?
That really says more about the average survivor quality than anything :D We never lose more than 1 person to these Killers unless we throw for the funsies or they get extremely lucky. They are F tier. Well, unless they face solo players that can´t loop and listen to music while playing lol, in that case every Killer is S tier haha :)
-
The saddest part is that they only acknowledged the performance drop "following their latest release" which implies they are satisfied with the abysmal overall performance of dbd.

Frankly it has been for years now. Feels like the topic is only picking up traction now with this thread.
But since BHVR has ignored optimization for so long, they have shown they won't do it for the community. If Pulsar is able to talk to a news site, then maybe BHVR will do it if their reputation is at stake.
Yeah at this point creating pressure from outside seems to be the only way to motivate them to work on game health - this is how they got the colorblind settingsafter all (after being denied for years).
-
It´s a tough one to get but having the right build helps!
Play with your food, corrupt intervention, whispers and tinkerer is a great build I´ve recently seen suggested. More important than that is finding survivors that won´t troll you with lockers, though :D Might take a while but you´ll get there!

Refund policies are usually very strict
But even in cases like this where you´re literally unable to use the product you paid for? That´s a major bummer >:(
-
In case their unwillingness to tackle the performance problems continues it would porpably be a good idea to check out refund options for the game, the dlcs and the cosmetics. Maybe there has been a precedence where a product´s quality declined to a degree that made it unuseable? Wouldn´t be suprised if thousands of players would attempt to grab refunds.
-
Yeah I bet other big names are going to think twice now before they engage with BHVR.
-
I got a good amount of stuttering on Badham while playing Nemesis, fps drops as well :( Usually it runs quite smoothly (pretty strong gaming laptop) but it seems performance recieved a significant hit this update.
-
@bm33 said:
If you play the tutorials it unequips all perks and goes to default cosmetics on all your characters.
Also if you escape with item in survivor bot match you keep it.
Wait, really? So we could farm items in the tutorial if we wanted to? :)
-
Imagine all the people coming into the game because of RE and being met with a barely functioning game if they happen not to be on a top end desktop. I wish someone with decent reach would warn them about what they´re getting themselves into.

Holy crap, how long is this thread gonna go on for
Hopefully until the devs either stick to their word and put effort into optimising the game reasonably well or admit that they are unable/unwilling to do so.
-
Strangely enough I find myself agreeing more with Sluzzy by the day. In the ususal fashion it´s worded poorly and blown out of proportion but a good Blight with their standard build and all the other little extras is just as oppressive as a Nurse. A decent Blight doesn´t lose unless they face a very strong SWF and solo players have no real way of dealing with it.

What do you mean you don't want to sink 800 USD just to play a video game?????
A videogame that should run at stable 60 on your current console anyway , at least that´s what the devs stated in march 2019. Our group lost people because some of them have gotten tired of dealing with the console issues (and one of them only had a great gaming laptop, which also couldn´t handle everything in the game well lol imagine ). They too hoped the devs would follow through on their promise of making the game work on a decent level on all platforms, which they never did :(
-
Someone who expects their opponent to play in a way that suits them and calls bloody murder if their self imposed rules are not being followed. Same for killers honestly :)
-
Not giving an answer is also an answer, you know. Your best bet is to cause an uproar on twitter and get someone influential to speak on your behalf, this is how they got the colorblind options at least. A single person that has some semblance of publicity is more significant than hundreds of unhappy customers apparently.
-
3 or 4 this year and we play a couple hours almost every day. We miss him :(
-
They....don´t? At least most of the time lol. It´s become so rare to have somebody die except from endgame noed camping when we get unlucky with the totem spawn. Dead by Daylight is so weird, like, 3 killers are wildly overpowered, 3 or 4 are decent and the rest are just plain bad.
I played a bunch of soloq the past couple days and you will find your answer there if you really wanna know how they win :D
-
Okay look, it´s not like Michael Myers was a good killer or anything (sadge) but if he didn´t have a stalking limit of sorts he could find a potato and just casually charge his tuft+tombstone from them, punishing the rest of the team severely.
These powers are so different there´s almost no point in comparing them like that^^

It´s just funny because most endgame chats look like this nowadays:

:# # # #! # # # # # ####?
:# # # #
I don´t think many people changed their behavior, but who could tell anyways? They could remove it altogether honestly :D

OhTofu, he´s a DBD content creator and Fog Whisperer. Plays both sides on a high level and has been around since beta, I can only recommend you check him out, he´s a chill dude :)

I am a rank one survivor, wdym?
Tofu just released a video on that issue. TLDR: Rank one contains players with wildly differing skill levels. You can be less than ideal of a looper that played for a month as well as a 6k hrs veteran that laughs about anything that isn´t an S tier killer and end up in the same lobby, leading to huge frustration for both sides. Also if you can, find some friends to play with, I honestly wouldn´t play if it weren´t for the fact that I had a dedicated SWF.

Best: Oni
Worst: Spirit

Every killer is strong vs Survivors that can´t loop and avoid gens. However, tier lists can be very helpful to gauge your expectations for the occasions you face dedicated people that play well :)

Ok this is a misconception.
If you want to feel pride in being straight and white go for it. No one is saying you can't feel pride in that.
Only some needlessly hostile and hypocritical posters on this thread are doing just that. I´m not entirely sure whether acting discriminatory and entitled is the best course for helping the LGBT cause, but what do I know, I´m not a member of that community just a supporter.

Wait what's that supposed to mean? See this is the ######### that's gonna make me not play killer anymore because I'm not gonna be reported for some stupid game where someone played like a bot and died against me quick, what's next? If I teabag a killer with a charm I'm banned after two matches because "harassment"
Temporary bans
HARASSMENT: COMMUNICATIONS ABUSE
- Insults, intimidation, hateful speech, repeated harassment
- In-game report REQUIRED / Customer Support ticket OPTIONAL
It´s not related to in-game behavior so you should be fine as long as you don´t spam or insult others in post game chat:)

Thanks for posting the link to the rules again @MandyTalk . So to ease everyone´s minds : Camping, Tunneling and Slugging are never bannable whether you ride the pride wave or not :)
