If the media doesn't shift, people never get normalised or treated as equals and everyone in DbD would be a cis straight white male. Which is very clearly (and thankfully) not the case and never has been.
And to be perfectly honest, who someone is isn't politics.
Edit: To clarify, I'm referencing the gradual shift in media representation that has occured over the last century.
Can we stop talking about this and let discussions about the pride charm die?
Nah,i think we need like 50+ more people explaining us how LGBTQ+ is political and therefore doesn't belong into a videogame while completely ignoring all the lore we already have in this game 🙄
LGBTQ+ people existing and being in media is not political at all. By saying that, you’re trying to point out that there should be a political dispute about queer people existing? The straight privilege jumped out with this post!
No you are not. That’s not about identity politics at all and there was already multiple topics on the front page. You would have contributed there instead of making another thread surely.
Why only flag for LGBT? So please give me a flag with the hetero sign on it as well. I want to be proud of it too. I am okey with people being proud of LGBT, but why make a flag in a video game to show off? It should be either equal for all or not put into a video game at all.

Because straight people haven't been oppressed their entire lives, they are easily the most recognised sexuality. The flag is to help recognise the other sexual orientations (hence why it's called representation).

Okay here we go. I've been through this once and I'll go through it again.
Why do we have a flag for being lgbt+? Well it's for a small form of representation. Why don't heterosexual people have this? Because they are already represented in the relationships of the lore. David, Nurse, Felix, Julie and Frank, all feature heterosexual relationships in their lore. We do not have one (1) homosexual relationship in dbd.
Furthermore, name me a single country where it's illegal to be straight. Name me a country where people can subject you to experiments such as elecrotherapy legally to change you from being straight. Name me a country where the law treats lgbt+ the same as heterosexual people, and those that enforce the law do so too.
Oh wait. You can't. Because lgbt+ people are still persecuted every single day across the world. Even in progressive nations they're still subject to so much abuse and being a poc and also being lgbt+ is a nightmare of a world to live in.
When we are finally treated equally, then you can get your heterosexual flag charm. Until then, you do not need it. Because you cannot be killed on the basis of your sexual preference of gender identity, which are biological traits.
Your privilege is showing and it doesn't look good.

It's also a flag for those who wish to show support. You don't have to be LGBT to use the LGBT flag, the same way you don't have to be Swedish to use the Swedish flag.

"why make a flag in a video game to show off?"
Because it's called the pride flag for a reason.
yea wear that pride flag in real life, I have no problems with that. But stop turning video games (and movies and tv series as well nowadays) into a political statement.

People's existence shouldn't be political and the moment people stop denying us our rights across the globe is the moment it ceases to be.
Every moment you say that lgbt+ people existing are political is one moment more where change is denied because you cannot see past your own narrow-minded view of the world, tainted by the fact you haven't had to go through the struggles of being lgbt+.
Straight people stop speaking over lgbt+ challenge

Representation and politics do not correlate at all; I recommend you do your research.
This game will never stop showing representation just because people have an issue with it and disagree that it belongs in the game.
So you forbid me to get a straight flag, only cause we are in majority? I call that discrimination now.
Read my comment again and the answer to your question becomes clear. It's not a difficult concept to grasp so long as you lose the internalised homophobia.

yes, video games and real life are 2 different kind of things. A video game should stay a video game without putting our latest political issues into it.

I love how you keep bringing up the "political argument" even though people have pointed out a dozen times in this thread alone that there's nothing political about it.
Goes to show that you're either asking for the hetero flag purely to mock the LGBT+ community or just because you're actually extremely ignorant and refuse to listen to reason and educate yourself.
If it's the latter, at least be a grown up, admit to yourself you don't know anything about the topic and shut up about it.
Read my comment again and the answer to your question becomes clear. It's not a difficult concept to grasp so long as you lose the internalised homophobia.
How you react on this thread, proves that people want to push this game into a political statement, which is kinda sad. I really don't have problem with a represantation of LGBT with the survivors and killers. But come on, putting flags now in a horror game is a bit over the top.

I have to wonder why you find this so important to begin with? You just seem to want to avoid confrontation.

You don't have a problem with representation but here you are having problems with representation?
Posts like these, are the reason why I personally don't want to get into the subject of the LGBT community. Its a constant back and fourth, I'll stay here and munch my popcorn, don't mind me
The fact that you're refferring to the LGBTQ+ flag as "our latest political issues" tells me everything I need to know, sigh.
We're not just some trending political debate - we're REAL people, with lives, families, jobs etc that deserve to be represented just as much as straight people.
Since you seem to be a fan of games, I have a new one! It's called: "straight people stop speaking over LGBTQ+ people when they're trying to explain their opression."
Oh my god I've heard of that, and the sequel "Straight people stop speaking over lgbt+ people when it comes to explaining our needs and why we want representation"!! They're both impossible but so much fun to watch others attempt!

LGBTQ GET A CHARM BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO OTHER REPRESENTATION. Hetero doesn't need a flag because there are multiple charaters who are confirmed hetero-sexual such as wraith and nurse

**Horror-themed game
Also, what about the cute charms? Cute cosmetics? Bunny Feng? All of those in a "horror game."
‘Straight pride’ isn’t a thing because there is nothing to be proud of, it’s just a way to be homophobia and undermine our experiences. Same as how ‘white pride’ is racist as #########.
yes, video games and real life are 2 different kind of things. A video game should stay a video game without putting our latest political issues into it.
This game has a HUGE LGBT+ following, the devs recognising this means a lot to the community, people like you spoiling it is ######### infuriating.

I didn't see any "identity politics" in DbD. You might be thinking of a different game.
what are you even talking about?
is it about Zarina not accepting herself in her teen years?
If the media doesn't shift, people never get normalised or treated as equals and everyone in DbD would be a cis straight white male. Which is very clearly (and thankfully) not the case and never has been.

The LGBT flag is not identity politics isn't identity politics "if ur *blank* u can't be *blank"?
What?
Can we stop talking about this and let discussions about the pride charm die?
Right, I forgot Zarina had those issues in her lore, along with political issues. It's a little too late to remove her now, though.
Here we go again

Identity politics really.
You know it's doing stuff like this that allows the toxicity to happen. You are legitimately trying to making issue out of nothing.
If you don't like the charm don't wear it or hell don't even enter the code it's not rocket science.
I'm talking about the LGBT flag
*sigh*
Now that's a really big yikes.
People's identity isn't political and if we were just treated equally from the get go it wouldn't need to be made law.
It's not politics, it's basic human decency. And if you're sick and tired of hearing about it then make a damn change so we can stop campaigning.
No you are not. That’s not about identity politics at all and there was already multiple topics on the front page. You would have contributed there instead of making another thread surely.

It's not like there are canonically heterosexual characters in Dead by Daylight.
Eh whatever, this whole thing is stupid.

This thread reminds me of a joke I read once. I'm paraphrasing because I don't remember it exactly, but it went something like this:
"Is the protagonist going to be a straight man, or political?"
