  • The issue isn't there are no counters to what the killer can throw at you. It's that survivors don't feel like doing it.

"NOED OP!" "Why didn't you cleanse da bones?" "Aint nobody got time for that"

"BBQ is broken!" "Why didn't you jump in a locker?" "I dont wanna get off my gen" "Well why not run distortion?" "I dont wanna take off my meta perks"

  • Whether it is or isn't considered tunneling is irrelevant because the killer isn't breaking any rules for doing it.

  • This clip has nothing to do with the DS change. All I see is a survivor making some poor decisions.

  • I'd probably switch out prove thyself or second wind for an exhaustion perk and a healing perk. Or take off 1 perk for an exhaustion and bring a medkit.

  • In this community. I have no trouble believing it.

  • Considering how lack luster the last 2 chapters and how lame the Halloween "event" was. I predict more disappointment.

  • Do not go to twitter for information. It's even less reliable than Wikipedia :P

Indeed. Because it shows that something doesn't have to be used in order to achieve the purpose for which it was created.

Yes but now kids grow up watching Marvel movies and think "They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree"

  • @Orion said:

It's not a wasted perk slot if it does indeed prevent the killer from tunneling. People who think perks are only useful if you get to use them need to look up MAD - and I don't mean the magazine.

When you say MAD are you referring to Mutually Assured Destruction?

  • WGLF+BT for safe saves to get stacks. An exhaustion perk for myself and the 4th perk depends on what I have. If I have a medkit I bring We'll Make It for fast healing after saves. If I don't have a medkit I'll bring a healing perk because it's hard to save people injured. Usually IS.

Bring escape cakes or BPS. If your playing with swf and have multiple BPS they stack.

During a match try to be the one making saves for stacks. If you take a protection hit during the save that's another stack. When not saving try to do a little bit of everything. Gens, totems, chests, chases, healing ect.

  • If the person who was hiding for half the match got the hatch do you think they should have piped?

Also I give you props for realizing it was pointless to try to save from a camping bubba. In that situation most survivors don't understand to do gens instead.

    Neither side should be overpowered.

Maybe not overpowered but the killer should be at least more powerful because they are out numbered.

    @RyRapsYT said:

Lately in this forum people have been complaining so much about killers being way too overpowered. The Killers in this game are not overpowered (except maybe Freddy). People complain about the little things about both sides, killer mains hating on survivor mains and vice versa. I play both sides equally so I am not biased. The forum and the community keep pounding nerf requests on killers that don't even need nerfs. I also see posts about completely balanced survivor perks that " need a nerf"

The truth is that the killers should be powerful, they have to go up against a four-man survivor team. They need to be good enough to actually play the game and beat the survivors. Games like f13 created Jason who is overpowered in both the game and the movies, it was fun because there was basically an almost unstoppable enemy which made the game very interesting to play. In this game, the moment the new killer releases, the survivors and some of the killers begin to hate immediately, it's either too bad or too good because no killer can ever be perfect.

The Killers should be overpowered compared to the survivors. The game is not as scary as other games out there, killers that are more powerful and creepy looking is what we need. The problem is that most people are missing the concept of DBD and get pissed off when a killer is powerful and wont stop complaining about it. People need a reason to fear the killers.

But I don't mean completely make the game killer sided like f13. There needs to be a balance between the game, the killer should be powerful but not impossible to play against. The game should feel tough every round. Like there cannot be a killer that just destroyes everyone. The game needs balance, and to create balance the survivor perks need a slight buff to the ones that are not very great, and the killers all need tweaking to make them strong. Perhaps DBD could make game modes like 2v8 to help the killer and to help the survivors. Strong killers would give a reason to fear them.

I play both sides. I try not to be bias but I often find myself supporting the killer half of the community because I feel they are the ones getting shafted the most. Must have something to do with being the minority?

Most survivors think the killer caught me so he must be OP. What people fail to grasp is "1" survivor is not meant to stand a chance against the killer. Otherwise what's the point of having a team? Survivors can't see how their team is contributing. They only have their perspective. So when they die they think the killer needs a nerf because they lost.

Survivors. When the killer see's you he IS GOING to catch you. It's just a question of how much time it takes. Unless you can juke him, which is really hard against decent killers, they will down you. That's not the point. The point is if you wasted their time enough for your team to do gens then you essentially won.

  • If this were blizzard there would be loot boxes -.-

  • I got 3 stories.

2 involve blood warden. I should have had 0k but they got greedy and I ended up with 3k.

The 3rd story is long ago before the egc. I was pig on lerys. Someone found a fat shame spot that a survivor could fit through but the killer couldn't. I started recording to report this person because they were abusing the spot. The gates were open but this was before there was a timer. 2 people were making noise to get my attention. Well Claudette was just far enough away from the gate that I managed to down her before she got out. I put a rbt on her head and picked her up. The David tried to body block. I managed to down him, drop claudette and trap him before he got out. Claudette crawled out and set off her trap. David got hooked and the fat shamer did not even try to save him because the hatch was literally right next to the fat shame spot.

  • I would play Freddy and as I was about to hook a survivor id say

    Untitled Image

But realisitcally. If proximity chat were to be added it would probably just be more toxic crap we would have to deal with.

How many times that happening lol. Maybe you had 1 or 2 games like that and you cant say that is problem.

"before" the patch. It happened all the time. It was very common for the unhooked to come to me because they had the 60 secs immunity. So if the perk was buffed to be used offensively in any way. It WILL happen again because it was done before.

Maybe it'd help to actually read what I said instead of assuming things and spouting off uninformed nonsense then, friend. Your responses in this thread are laughable considering you haven't even read anything that isn't supporting your own opinion. Calling me a crybaby when you're the one claiming PTSD over a video game perk? Really? Sounds like a bigger real life issue to me lol.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2083867#Comment_2083867

I can understand your point for sure, but what do you propose then?

A scenario I've been encountering all too often post-DS nerf: you're unhooked, killer immediately comes back and comes after you. You're being chased without a chance to even regroup yourself. Killer puts you into dying state, at this point you've burned through anywhere from 15-30 seconds of DS depending on how good your chase is. Killer leaves to kick a gen or go whack someone really quick, then comes back to you. You're hooked a second time without utilizing DS.

Maybe this isn't tunneling to you, but it is to a lot of people, and it is a problem.

AGAIN FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T/WON'T READ: I AM NOT SAYING IT SHOULD GO BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS. I am saying some alternatives should be added in addition to make it better serve it's purpose across the board.-

If the killer hooks someone and leaves to kick a gen. They kick the gen and as of now they have no idea where anyone else is. Then a save is made. Why shouldn't the killer return to the hook? They know for a fact at least 2 people are over there. Should the killer pass up this opportunity or risk going to another gen where there might not be anyone?

It sounds like half your problems are due to bad saves. The survivors could have waited for the killer to be occupied with something else before making a save. The rescuer could run We'll Make It for a fast heal. Someone healthy can try to grab the killers attention. The healthy survivors can rush the gens to punish the killer for not applying pressure. Nothing is a solid solution but you can't tell the killer who they can and can't go after.

    • “a small DS buff”
    • Active indefinitely

lol what? If thats a small buff I’d hate to see what you consider a big buff

I wouldnt worry in all honesty. DS will be buffed within the next 2 chapters i’m sure of it. There’s too much complaining for them to ignore it.

I don't know. People complained when they removed infinites, double pallets, added exhaustion mechanic and they didn't undo those. DS has been abused since it's creation. Knowing the devs I won't be surprised if they back stab me because I'm not the majority but I feel the perk is good where it's at now.

  • I wouldn't mind this change because there have been a few times where I accidentally died struggling. Maybe I was mashing spacebar too fast?

  • Until they announce a patch or the patch actually gets here. I won't get my hopes up. The devs used to announce everything. Then the community got upset if they had to delay it. So they stop announcing things.

  • When playing killer. The only thing I like about console survivors is they can't talk to me after the match is over.

60 seconds in the context of this game is not very long at all, nor is it taking into account being chased right off the hook for, say, 15 seconds and then being slugged for 45 - or any other random value of time.

It doesn’t matter what number you want to assign to it, this is still tunneling and an “anti-tunnel” perk should be available for this situation, not arbitrarily disabled because a killer decides to make it so.

If your unhooked and the survivor goes after the killer the perk is still being abused. It's being used offensively. That's why killers wanted it changed for so long. If the killer hits you it doesn't mean they are tunneling. Some do tunnel off the hook till death but a lot also don't go out of there way to do it. It just happens. This is why I hated DS because I got punished by it even when I wasn't tunneling. Which is why I like the current version.

And that is killer's choice, if killer wont chase survivor cant do anything. Or just hit survivor and leave and survivors will lose time because for that.

As I said in another post. What if more than 1 survivor is playing the same character and the killer doesn't know they are going after the person they just unhooked?

  • WGLF, BT, Exhaustion perk, IS. If I have a medkit IS is replaced with we'll make it.

You don’t have to chase them to be fair. At that point they are a hinderance to the team

What if they are all the same survivor and more than 1 is injured?

  • The problem with this. Survivors unhooked will get the killers attention and try to loop him because their DS will not go away.

It becomes an invalid strategy and simply holding the game hostage when you don't try to do anything else. When you hit someone, you don't follow up. When you chase someone, you don't try to catch them, you simply stop at your perimeter. That is holding the game hostage, because you aren't trying to complete your objective.

I disagree. If I hit someone and they take off into a section of the map that still has a ton of pallets I'm not taking the bait. If I know I can;t down them by the time their friends finish the last gen they I won't go after them. I will continue to defend the 3 gens until a better option presents itself.

You do realize almost all killers can force a 3 gen right?

And Gens are closer than you think. Even if you spread out, there is only so much progress you can make. Overcharge can be forced by Doctor by shocking a survivor as soon as they hit a gen. Madness 3 forces gens to regress. That is enough to force a 3gen.

I don't know what survivors you face but the only time I get a 3 gen is because the survivors are potatoes. Anyone survivor with a decent amount of playtime, swf or random, knows not to do all the gens on one side of the map. I can chase them off a gen or kick it with pgtw but I can't guard gens and chase survivors at the same time. There's 4 survivors and only 1 killer. Like I said earlier. If even 3 survivors take one of the 3 gen they will complete it. I can push you off the 3 gens but unless I am able to down someone I am getting no where. If your constantly making me jump between gens your still making progress by repairing some of them. If your competent you can beat a 3 gen. No matter what I do as killer a 3 gen will only slow you down, not stop you completely. If you lose to a 3 gen you allowed it to happen or your randoms were crappy.

  • So can huntress reload from that or does she have to find another locker?

  • There has been a surge in key usage since the mori rework because people fear keys will be next. The devs could have nothing planned for keys but people believe it so they're using them before they get destroyed. Tool boxes were in the same boat when they nerfed ruin.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2081802#Comment_2081802

"He basically chose his 3 gen at the start of the match and did nothing but glue himself to it, we all tried to break it at the start."

Guess you cannot read. If you cannot break a 3-gen from the start of the match because a killer forces it, it's not because the survivors gave him a 3gen. He literally forced it.

If a killer could "force" a 3 gen then every single killer would do it. "The doc glued himself to the gens" How was he in 3 places at once? Gens aren't that close together. If the 4 survivors spread out they can beat this. As he chases 1 survivor off 1 gen 2 more are being worked.

  • No compromise is required. Survivors already have all the tools needed to deal with it. They just choose not too.

  • @Mr_K said:

    It's not fun being bamboozled.

Someone not having fun is not reason enough to remove it. If that were the case literally every perk, item, add on, offering would be removed.

The forbidden meta is fire up Nurse!

  • Unless the survivors prove to be otherwise I consider them all to be toxic. I treat them as such.

  • TL:DR

If there was a surrender button no one would get to play. Every single time it;s a spirit survivors will dc. Every time 3 gens pop before the killer downs 1 person they will quit.

  • I like playing non meta killers but when I run into a try hard swf. I feel as if I need to switch to a real killer to stand a chance. Then when I play Nurse and obliterate the next group I come across(who had nothing to do with my bad match) they get upset and say "Why you try hard?" "because the last group did the same to me. I wanted to play my way but your side took advantage of me using a weak killer"

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2081746#Comment_2081746

And you cannot even read the sentence you posted: "where one player winning means another player loses."

In DBD, there is no defined win condition. If you go off on post-game results, every single player can gain a pip, meaning EVERY SINGLE PLAYER WINS. In fact, there are cases where everyone can lose a pip, meaning every single player loses.

In DBD, one player winning does not cause their opponent to lose. Your own definition literally proves you wrong.

And yes, I am going by the pip system, because there is no other set wincondition. 4k being a win? Sure, but you can derank from rank 1 all the way to rank 9 even if you have a 100% killrate on the killers you play. 0k being a loss? Sure, but you can rank up all the way to rank 1 having 0 kills on your name. Since you actively derank, we can all agree that a 4k is not a defined win. That is just your personal win condition.

I think the real issue is the devs haven't set a clear "what is a win and what is a loss". The pip system is an absolute joke if your killer. I've had matches where I hooked someone in the basement as trapper. People kept coming to me and stepping in my traps. I hooked everyone 3 times but my chaser was non existent because they didn't lead me on a chase. We're arguing over what's a win/loss in a broken system when we should be trying to fix it. Instead of trying to make a faulty machine work.

that argument is valid however not in this context at all mate.

The killer did a 3 gen. I don't play doc but I main trapper. 3 gens are the fault of the survivors. The killer can try to push you off a specific 3 but he can't pressure 4 people at the same time. 3 gens can be beaten or even prevented from occurring. Did he refuse to chase people to protect his 3 gens? Yes but there's nothing wrong with that. The devs have not stated you have to chase a survivor if you see them. Did the match last too long? Most likely but I doubt it was actually 40 mins. The doc choose a particular way to play and they are entitled to that since it didn't break any rules. Like basement bubba. It's not fun but it's not illegal.

  • This threads title is probably written somewhere in the survivor's rule book for killers. It would not surprise me.

    Keep doing it bud

The guy has 1 post. They're probably an alt account or a complete newb. Either way I wouldn't dignify them with a response.

  • Gens fly by and survivor's say "just apply pressure" or "learn to give up on a chase that isn't worth it"

The killer defends gens and the survivors say "Why aren't you chasing me?"

No, that is opposition. Competition exists when 2 sides either have the same objectives to complete, or gain something from completing their objectives post-game. Dead By Daylight has neither, it is an oppositionary game.

"Competitive games are those in which players play against one another and where one player winning means another player loses."

First thing that pops up when you google "Define competitive game". I don't know your definition of competitive but I think we have different ideas of what that is.

  • To be bugged would require it to have worked in the first place.

  • "A lion does not concern itself with the opinion of the sheep"

Remember these words the next time a survivor complains.

Or if your a Legacy of Kain fan you can quote Vae Victus. Latin for "woe to the vanquished", or "woe to the conquered". It means that those defeated in battle are entirely at the mercy of their conquerors and should not expect—or request—leniency.

  • There are 2 sides pitted against one another. That is the definition of competitive. It may not be "as" competitive as other games but it is.

  • I'm that way with all forms of video games these days. I'm 35 and I've been disappointed enough times that I rarely pre order anything anymore. When the twins chapter came out I just happened to have enough shards for the killer and I didn't even want them. This chapter drops and I still don't want to spend my shards.
