Last night I was looping a killer. He left me, then came right back to me. I made a silly read, they get a free hit. Looping some more. I choose to dead hard very early just to make sure it works. Just so happens I timed it right when bloodlust kicks in. What happens? I’m able to DH, but the screen literally froze for 0.5-1 sec and I lost all momentum. Killer gets a free down, which proceeded to impact the rest of the game.

Thanks for reporting back, we need to bring this to the attention of the devs, maybe it will help them with their investigation.
I believe KYF is P2P. If you all have a decent connection to each other, lag should mostly be a non issue. That doesn’t fix FPS drops that occur with bloodlust, noed, etc

Exactly, the switch and as far as I know even xbox, struggle to get 30fps. It's unacceptable
It’s downright silly for anyone to say the Switch is fine. Even controls are wonky and not smooth.

I'm gonna say this without being rude. You don't speak for me. Personally i haven't had a problem with the fps and secondly imo we don't deserve anything we have no control over what they chose so sit back and watch. If they butcher it then that's what happens but don't say you deserve anything you may have paid for the game but they aren't always going to be how you want them to be.
What? I don’t think you’ve ever played on the Switch or video games in general if you can honestly say you’ve experienced no FPS issues on DBD Switch.

You are talking about a limited set of groups playing a specific perk. Coordinated SWF with one using Distortion being able to get everyone on a totem at once would be insanely skilled. There are groups who can, but those are few and far between. Solo que would still be immensely hindered by this perk and how it works with others.
As for how many seconds to add on, that was a spitball figure. My overall point is that there are much more effective ways to protect totems without making it game breaking.
It’s not that hard tbh. Most people know totem spawns

They might as well just add a normal wall there because I don't see anyone ever breaking it lol
this point exactly. I don’t understand the point of them at all.
i thought breakable walls were meant for the killer to decide to break a couple of walls so loops are shortened or not. Not “here’s a wall that corners survivors for you with zero thought process required.”. It basically makes it easier to play killer, as a result of no skill/thought on the killers part. I don’t like that when I play killer. I enjoy getting into a good chase where two people are trying to outsmart the other. Serving someone up on a silver platter is silly. It now becomes a dead part of the map where no one will go to. I dunno

Distortion is all but useless. Walk near a dull totem and you lose a charge. It will be gone before the first gen.
@Azgard12 It works with HG. Break HG, it triggers, and you get a new HG. Same with DH, Ruin, NOED, etc. It is an extremely OP perk when you add in 6 seconds of aura sight to it. Just come within 2 meters and I can see you aura. This is pure stupidity. I like a challenge as a killer, but I don't want to face constant SWF because the devs just keep making it harder for solo que survivors. Pure stupidity.
I do want a protection perk for totems, but not one like this. Give us a Dark Intervention-type perk that locks totems for 180 seconds or maybe even locks totems during ever hook and for 10 seconds afterwards. How about one that earns charges for every hit the killer gets. Each charge adds 4 seconds onto the time it takes to cleanse a totem.
In a swf with one person running distortion everyone knows the killers build now. You get everyone on a totem and done
Corrupt intervention on totems with aura for 2-3 minutes would be fair. Then once it unlocks aura reading goes away. Adding 4 seconds per hit would be more insane
-
Do people realize not all SWFs are on comms, are amazingly good, etc. it’s really just to have fun with your friends. Try hards exist on both sides, it SWF shouldn’t instill fear like it does to so many

You are only referring to Ruin. What about HG? The odds are in the favor of the killer that HG gets cleared three times before Undying is even found. That is extremely powerful! Seriously, I want my totems to last longer, but this is going to be so abused it is not funny. This is going to finish off what's left of solo que. You will see even more SWF. Not what I want.
Not wrong. I only play solo queue (I’ve played one game in a SWF in 3 years). If the meta shifts to doing even more mindless tasks (gens and more totems) then I’ll either take a break or join a few SWFs. I’m all about a challenge, but potentially dealing with a silent bell, aura seeing wraith (for example) with 3 minutes of haunted grounds is not fun. That’s just HG. So easy for Billy, Spirit, or Stealth Killers on indoor maps to abuse the hell out of running some crazy hex builds now.
And I’m not an “entitled survivor main.” I play killer well, but I don’t enjoy using builds or killers that are super oppressive for survivors. That’s just me though.
The one thing is I guess that killers will be limited to really only 2 hex perks. Run more than that and you defeat the purpose. I guess calm spirits and maybe distortion move up a peg or two now

I guess you are interested in getting bullied by 4 survivors then. I dont understand why do i have a chainsaw in this game and survivors keep laughing at me. I quit playing billy, keep taking care of the people you have left, the casuals. Because veterans already left.
As opposed to a full squad in F13 that can bully you? If you don’t know how to play Jason, enjoy being unable to move while you get bum rushed and beaten repeatedly
-
F13 was a blast when it first came out. I played day 1, when you’d wait 2-3 hours for one game due their server issues. You’d get the random screaming “OMG ######### HE’S ON ME WHAT DO, ######### DO I DO!?!?!?” I think only 5 people in total ever escaped me (Jason 9 main). Lawsuit issues ended up killing it though. The game is more fun/silly, doesn’t require a lot of thought. DBD is fun, and also has more thought required imo

I stopped playing killer for awhile because I was getting matched with survivors that were far more experienced than me. Then when the new MMR came along it was a breath of fresh air, as my matches were no longer try hard, sweaty matches (but even I'll admit that sometimes I was still getting matched with people that I shouldn't have). But now that the MMR is turned off, the game is once again back to setting up matches based on ranks, which sucks because even the devs themselves admitted that ranks mean nothing.
So why am I not surprised that my rank 15 killer is going up against red and purple rank survivors? Which is even more baffling considering that cross-play is up and running. You mean to tell me that red and purple ranks were the best you could find for a rank 15 killer across PS4, switch, Xbox, and PC? 🤨
Here's hoping the MMR gets turned back on soon.🤞
People, including the devs, misinterpret the phrase “rank doesn’t matter”
The phrase means the following: Just because you are Rank 1, doesn’t mean you know how to play well, at Rank 1. It does mean that you’re likely better than someone who’s Rank 15 and gets to Rank 10 after playing daily for a month. It does mean you’re better than the person who’s never gone higher than purple.
Take any professional sport. Getting into the NBA/MLB/NFL/NHL, etc is awesome. But that doesn’t mean you’re going to make the team, play, play meaningful minutes, be good at your position, be great at your position, or be a HOFer.
that’s the meaning of “rank doesn’t matter”
-
Can we chill with the alarmist mindset OP? We also don’t need a 3 page essay.
Crossplay is a nice feature to have. Usually I play with it off, but I play with it on sometimes (usually hoping to vs some xbox gamers). It’s not forced on us, it’s incredibly easy to turn on and off at will. I don’t see what there is to complain about.
if anyone needs an option to not vs PC players, it would be Switch players only. I commend anyone who plays on switch and plays with crossplay on. That’s brave

I run self care because either you can't trust other survivors to heal you in solo mode, or they insist on healing you in the open, or chase you all over because they're desparate for the healing points. I've even had survivors use healing to pin me in place for the killer. If I can, I shake them off, get to a safe spot and heal up myself - I run Iron will so I don't whimper and give myself away.
It doesn't mean I will leave someone on a hook because I insist on healing - I will take the risk where necessary.
One of the things that annoys me in game is when a survivor who doesn't run any healing perks just expects you to stop fixing a gen and heal them, or heal them at a hook and will chase you about to demand healing even if it means giving us both away to the killer.
If you knew how many times I was 70-99% healed and needed 4 seconds of your time, only for you to hug your gen while I’m trying to get back to prevent the noob from getting tunneled to death...
PS: you in this context is the global you with a similar mindset

As an Evil Dead fan, I was excited to see Ash Williams added to a console video game after so long.
The last time we saw him on a console game was back in 2005 when Evil Dead Regeneration came out.
However, I personally feel the Evil Dead content featured in DbD is lacking.
Similar to how content with LeatherFace (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and GhostFace (Scream) are lacking.
Though one could argue that since DbD's Ghostface isn't technically any of the killers from the Scream films, therefore there is no need for an iconic survivor or location from the franchise, characters like LeatherFace and Ash have plenty of content from their respective franchises that could've easily been used for DbD.
I personally feel as a hardcore fan of The Evil Dead franchise, that the ball was slightly dropped with bringing in Ash vs Evil Dead (AvED) content.
Now, I do understand that perhaps somethings weren't possible due to licensing issues, or because the powers that be behind the franchise may not want anything that can clash with the upcoming video game that they're working on, but assuming that the content that could very easily have been implemented into the game is accessible and unrestricted, then I fail to see why certain things weren't added to the "chapter".
I feel Ash Williams and AVED content as a whole was heavily shafted in comparison to not only just the original characters and content of DBD, but even in comparison to other licensed characters/properties/chapters.
AVED got a itty-bitty little trailer that as an announcement trailer goes, was awesome: It featured Bruce Campbell himself doing what he does as an entertainer, and showed a bit of Ash in the game. but that's all we got. We never got any other footage showing Ash in the game doing anything other than just running around, being on a hook, and fixing a gen. We never got a spotlight trailer showing off who he is as a character and what his perks are (don't even get me started on Mettle of Man getting nerfed) and as far as I know you can't even find the DbD rock cover song used in the announcement trailer.
And then on top of that there's a typo in his bio and one of his outfits is mislabeled (And to this day still have not been fixed/corrected). In his bio, the part where it mentions he sees Linda Bates (from season 2) it says "her daughter" when it should say "his daughter", since Ash is the one who wants to know about the whereabouts of his daughter. Spoiler alert: Linda already knows what happened to her daughter...her daughter is dead.
The outfit labeled as "Value Stop" isn't even the Value Stop outfit. Despite having the "Value Stop" badge, the outfit is actually the Ashy Slashy's Hardware store outfit.
Many of the characters in the game feature changeable hairstyles, and although at first glance it may not seem like Ash has more than one, there is a specific way his hair looks in the finale that would have been cool to see added into the game with the finale outfit that was released.
No offense to anyone who works on the game, but it feels more like a team of people simply watched trailers and looked at promo pics and vids for research on what to add to the game instead of actually watching the tv show.
And I feel there are those of us fans who after having a show we loved get cancelled, were excited to see more content related to the show via a video game, only to be slightly let down.
This isn't a knock on Behaviour or any of the folks who work on the game, this is just an expression feeling dissatisfied of how my favorite horror franchise has been handled/represented in a game that I enjoy to play.
I apologize for this lengthy post but I just wanted t get this out there. I highly doubt anything can or will be chnaged, but if there's a possibility, that'd be groovy.
Her's a link to an old twitter thread of suggestions/ideas I had on possible AVED themed content that would be cool to see in the game if it were ever possible to add anything in the future such as maps, killers, other survivors, cosmetics, items, etc.

Okay, the "there's no difference" narrative really has to go.
Load up a killer.
Spin in a circle with a mouse and with a gamepad.
One will be faster and more accurate.
It won't be the gamepad.
There, objective difference with an objective advantage in two seconds of testing.

maybe you need to git gud then

The new killer teaser just came out and I've seen some comments speculating about what will it be. Many said "Werewolf". Others said "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde". But anyone who's waiting for him since last year (or since 2018, in my case) knows he is The Alchemist, who appeared first in the cinematics for the 2018 Hallowed Blight event and then, in 2019's Withering Blight, received the most awesome cinematic this game has until now, were he injects the Putrid Serum into himself.
Okay, that doesn't mean he won't be a werewolf but I doubt it. Putrid serum turning a guy into a wolfman wouldn't make any sense. He must be, on his base outfit, something as horrifying as the other killers are in their special halloween skins, since they got injected with the serum too. The coolest thing: It was HIM who injected it! During the Hallowed Blight, he captured the Trapper, chained him to a wall and injected the serum.
There is a possibility he has a few things based on modern adaptations of Dr Jekyll, since he is transformed by the serum he injected, but the characters, as respectively shown in the Hallowed Blight's story and the famous novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, are completely different.
I'm waiting with excitement and hoping he is a good killer and very fun to play. After such a long time being teased, he needs a worthy release.
You’ve been waiting 2 years? Huh

There are perfectly valid concerns like performance differences outside of the control of players, as in actual performance because of the hardware differences between consoles and many PCs.
But I'm actually surprised by how much like... straight up silly console war BS I've seen. People trying to claim this or that platform has worse players than another, that <platform> players are all toxic. I don't get it at all.
PC players are generally “more toxic” because postgame chat exists. It takes another step to bother messaging someone to ######### talk. The toxicity is likely equal given the same means. However, based purely on postgame chat, that’s why PC gets a higher tick on toxicity. (I’ve had 3 people message me in 2 weeks to talk ######### on PS4; every 2-3 games on PC someone is telling me to “#########”
skillwise there’s no difference. Switch players are severely hindered, however. No joke, they play on 15-30 FPS and graphics might reach what you’d expect on a PS2).
xbox/PS4 are hindered by FPS drops
outside of the issues on console platforms, skill is equivalent
-
I’ve played on every platform. There is no difference. I even play on PC with a controller some games, and kb/m some games.
my guess is that people who play on Switch, if they’re courageous enough to play via crossplay, are the easiest to kill. It is extremely difficult to control on switch, the graphics are awful, they get about 20 FPS. You literally are tapping the joystick like a d pad because it’s nearly impossible to move in a smooth circle otherwise. They are very limited.
other than that, there is no difference between console and pc. Please stop feeding into this BS comparison
-
People build up PC players as having some gross advantage with “insane 360s, mouse sensitivity” etc etc. The biggest difference is frame rate stability. On my PC, I have a consistent 60 FPS and have dropped frames once for 1 second in the past 3 months or so. On PS4 Pro, frame drops occur every game (one game I had 30...Not a joke).
when I play survivor on PC, I usually switch out between kb/m and controller. Tbh, it feels like my PS4 controller performs better on PC, not sure if anyone else has seen that (maybe it’s just having better frames so it feels more natural). It’s easier to look over your shoulder on controller, it’s easier to hug walls/loops on kb/m.
I like playing on my TV, and PS4 is definitely less toxic than PC, so I choose my PS4. Personally I’m not huge fan of PC and playing with streamers (a lot of the 10-100 viewer streamers have an ego problem and narcissism runs scary high, not all of them).
long story short...there’s not a huge difference between kb/m and controller on dbd. It’s easier to play vs Huntress and Deathslinger on kb/m but that’s about it
-
Stream sniping is their risk they assume. If you want to broadcast your gameplay, it’s fair game for whoever chooses to sift through streams, to find the lobby they’re in, etc
-
I play on PC, and every console platform. Happens on all platforms. There’s a tome challenge: safe rescue or take protection hits 15 (16?) times. Some people throw the game just to get stacks. Welcome to tome life, nothing new since they released them tbh

Then I am the only ps4 player who can?
If you missed a hit because the survivor is spinning, next time lunge while moving back and to a side instead of keeping straight.
And no, fps aren't any issue.
Usually you want to walk into their spin, causing them to slow, and hit without lunging...
-
Console 100% has frame issues. If somebody says otherwise, they either don’t play on console, or don’t know what frame drops are/look like.
Xbox One S is horrendous graphic and frame wise.
Switch has god awful graphics and does not feel smooth. Hitting 30 FPS would be divine intervention
PS4 runs a little smoother, better graphics, frame dips are common place.
Can I get a show of hands how many people have been struggling on hook, and then instadied once noed or similar game change procs??

I just don’t think you can create an effective MMR on a game like dbd. Even if they did, you can’t reset everyone to 0, and you can’t make individual killer rankings starting off at 0. if you’re a rank 1 killer (whether you’re a very good/average/less than average rank 1 killer) you understand basics: how to moonwalk, how to kick a gen, how to hook a survivor, how to use your ability. That knowledge doesn’t disappear because you’re playing trapper instead of the pig.
So let’s say there were 10 tiers of skill in the system. You put everyone who’s rank 1 in Tier 1. Red ranks in Tier 2. high purple in 3. Low purple in 4. Etc. THEN, you do 10 matches to put them in their more accurate tier. But for all killers, except those with a more unique playstyle (like Nurse, Huntress, Deathslinger, Spirit and Hag). For those specific killers, You then assign as follows: Rank 1 killers are put in Tier 3, and so forth. (So you have ratings for 6 killers basically, Everyone and then individual rankings for the 5 listed)
You can’t expect everyone to play for 6-12 hours a day like we’re all streaming for a livelihood to supposedly increase each individual killer skill level to an invisible level and have no idea what’s going on
-

MMR would work much better if they revealed tiers to their MMR system. Then, place all Rank 1s in the highest tier, red ranks in a tier, purple in a tier, etc. Then start matchmaking. The system won’t be perfect, but the player base will see ranks that make sense. Over time, they the MMR will place them in their correct tier.
the only killers where you should start in a separate tier would be Nurse, Spirit, Deathslinger, Huntress. Everyone else works more or less similarly. It’s not like you need to learn how to moon walk with different killers. Even then, you should only drop hose killers down 1 or 2 tiers to start with, then the MMR will begin to place them accordingly

It's not like I warned you all they can reverse it if it don't work as intended.
IMO they should have tried to put an MMR system when the game was released it would have cause less trouble.
What a weirdo. Instead of simply posting up news, you’re trying to bash people in a strange way? Very odd
-
Billy overheat isn’t a huge issue. Just like nurse. Everyone complains about nurses nerf, but she’s still the strongest killer in the game. With Billy’s last iteration (with basically no overheat and just add on changes) you still had people overreacting and putting him in B tier. Good billy players will be fine. Ones that rely on add ons, will not
-
comparing bhvr to other companies means nothing. It’s like comparing your current significant other to your friends.
BHVR gets some things right with dbd. EGC is a nice feature that prevented keeping games hostage. Being able to close the hatch removed hatch standoffs. Some of these changes take much longer than you’d expect, but, they eventually come.
On the other hand, there is a consistent pattern of bugs that go unaddressed, player concerns that are dismissed, changes that negatively impact the community, etc. It’s not a one off, out of character behavior. That becomes increasingly frustrating for players over time. Compassion is going to steadily decrease, and anger and resentment grows.
Like right now. The “MMR” system. Radio silence. What a responsible company would do is immediately address the issue in the open. “We made a mistake in our algorithm, we had a backup plan in place in case there were any issues and have turned off the system until further testing can be done. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused, but your experience is of utmost importance to us”
Instead, we get one person on the forums that says play 20 games buried in a thread and another that says play 10, buried in another thread.
It is 100% valid to be angry. Of course people could express that in more mature ways, but the emotion is completely valid. Don’t forget that

You just started playing, 13 hours, and are already claiming “red rank swf.” Okay...
also, posting would be the rank 20 playing in a swf with better players, to “boost” them to higher rank.

There are 3 types of skills for survivors. There is tactical that mostly determines speed of play and how hard it is to properly pressure these survivors regardless of the individual chase time. This involves knowing when to save people and not getting downed near the hook, knowing how to spread out, understanding what the killer tries to do. Also knowing when to be cocky and when to play safe and run as early as possible. In my opinion this is the most important skill. If all 4 survivors do this properly then they can win rounds even when mediocre in chases.
Then you have stealth. Tbh I dont stealth that much, but it can easily win games if done correctly.
Lastly you have chase skill. Here the most notable skill that makes a great survivor instead of a good one is chaining tiles efficiently. Also knowing where deadzones are, trying to avoid creating deadzones and reacting to possible mindgames. Map knowledge is very important for this one and being able to recognize set-ups. At the most basic cutting corner very tight and knowing distances and when to drop pallets is the fundamental part of a good survivor in chases.
This right here. I would gladly take intelligent/tactical survivors over those who can loop. I’ve played with some cocky ass survivors who can loop but end up screwing the team over because they don’t know when to actually hop on a gen or take aggro
I once played against a killer who had pop and a good 3 gen strat, everyone was in solo queue but knew how to play. I knew where people were working on gens, based on the killers rotation. I forced him to come back to a gen in the corner that was in a dead zone (only because I had UB). He downs me, pops the gen, I get up, comes back to me and they finish the gen (this was over 5 minutes). In postgame he gloated that “you were so predictable, you kept going back to the same gen.” When I explained that I was actually using that assumption against him, which led to the other 3 getting out...he left. Pays to think in this game sometimes

Cenobites aren’t fused souls, unless I’m remembering that incorrectly. For example, Pinhead was a WW1 soldier with PTSD. Chatterer was a kid (Jim) who pinned his dad’s death on his mom. Etc. Lore wise I don’t know how that would make sense, as they only come to those who solve the lament configuration.
Personally, I don’t think we need another lame lore story like Pyramid Head. PH is a representation of James psyche (you could argue either his Id or Superego). PH was created with Freud’s psychoanalytic theory in mind, and is more about connecting James with his guilt, and in essence, helping him to process it.

EGC was to make games end, instead of survivors holding the game hostage. Moris were changed FYI, you didn’t even need to hook before.
1) EGC is fine
2) Moris and Keys should be removed as they stand
3) in their place, 1 Black and White Mori and 1 Black and White Key. New key can only be found in chests and cannot be saved after the match no matter what. New Mori can only be used after gens are completed or on the last survivor. Requires 2 hooks
4) replace current keys with a new survivor item (ring, a book, something). Mostly the same add ons that keys have
Removes a portion of toxicity. Keeps Moris and Keys in the game, but more difficult to use.
