    Why’s that?

I really don't know why but when I win I get "camper" or "tunneler" but if I lose I get "you suck lol"

@Erk both yours and @C3Tooth 's ideas sound great, but neither of them cut down time during the match; you still have to go and grab the traps, or go and reset the traps (granted they're slightly closer to the middle of the map in your cases).

My suggestion gives the Trapper more map pressure by saving the time needed to fetch or reset traps. The nice part is, how much pressure this gives him can be adjusted by changing a number in a file down the road (the cooldown time for the power gague).

It also raises the skill ceiling and allows for higher level plays and mindgames.

Imagine you have two disarmed traps close by during a chase. Your power gague is full. You see the Survivor running around a loop toward your other trap so you reset the trap near you, which resets the nearest trap (the one the Survivor is headed for), which traps them. It essentially lets the Trapper be two places at once, but only if/when the power gague is full.

There could also be other things added, like losing some of the power gague if stunned, or gaining some when a trap is disarmed (or traps someone).

When I play Trapper, I accept the fact that I have to set up for at max 1 gen. I think setting up is what makes Trapper fun

    @C3Tooth said:

@Nos37 We dont have to over buff Killers. Giving minal buff already make a big difference. Example if all traps spawn 30m away from the edge, each of them may save you 10sec, 3 traps not spawns on edge would give you 30sec extra (120sec total on Survivors).

Beside, the choice between spread out the traps for mid game play, or try to make 3 Gen traps for late game play is crucial. Should not give him advantage at all game stage.

I like to add minor things in rather than pure number. A clear example between my Deep traps vs @Erk Logwood dye. Both mean to have harder to detect traps. But my idea force player to work more to get the better results, rather than have it by default

    I agree %100

  • Matchmaking is broken, we all know it. All you can do right now is buy DLC characters to get their amazing perks like pop, bbq, corrupt and infectious.

    • Start with 1 extra trap
    • Traps should not be in the edges of the map (unless there is a tile there)
    • Add 2 extra traps to the map (if you equip the Stitched Bag the traps are removed from the map and given to you)
    • If a Survivor steps on a trap, a skill check will begin start, if you get a great you get out, if you get a normal another skill check appears. If you get normal all the time, you get out in 3 attemps. If you lose the skill check, the survivor will scream (so the killer knows he/she's stuck there) and will not be able to get out without someones help.
    • Logwood Dye should be base
    • Add addons that decrease the time you need to reset a trap when you stepped on it (or maybe just remove the Padded Jaws and just add one brown addon that does it)

I think these are enough but if you want to add more, feel free

  • Let's celebrate indeed !

    İyi ki doğdun !

I know this is by far an unpopular opinion, but the truest way to address SWF in my eyes is to bring voicechat (only if you have the ability to mute certain players and turn it off all together) and balance the game around that. But this game has been communication limited from the start, so unless there is a real push for it (and there won't be) it just won't happen.

Well, that's not a bad idea actually

OK, sorry formatting, copy and pasta below:

Since release, killer has been buffed, survivor nerfed. This is important to understand and through examples you’ll see why that has happened. It shows you why the game has had the trajectory it has and why we are now in our current quagmire.

It all started with the introduction of swf and the 2 escapes, 2 kills devs unit of metric. You don’t have to like the metric but it’s whats given the survivors all their nerfs and all the killers current buffs.

The devs failed to understand that people would want to play with friends in an online game (serious), what we got was ‘lobby wars’. Where survivors would join different lobbies looking for their friends and leave if they couldn’t find them. It was horrible trying to find games. Hence why we got swf, that completely unbalanced the game by creating coordinated survivors that could communicate. The devs have been nerfing survivor ever since and completely crippled solo survivor play.

Killers now are up around 70% kills due to the trajectory of the game and the devs metric system, unless you feel their metric system is bad, in which case they can undo all the changes I've just mentioned....

It also important to mention marketing and advertising. There’s nothing special about survivors, they are just reskins with some new perks that all play the same. THATS IT. EACH killer has its own unique play style and as you see from their advertising, its always new killers they promote. Survivors get a mention, but its never really the selling point.

DBD reddit, back in the day was all about poking fun at survivors and giving you the impression that every second game is SWF and heavily biased against killers. Which was a lie. OP SWF games are maybe one in 30 games with most swf games being friends who are just wanting to have fun and usually end up wiping. But there was no push back, the killer echo room there would down vote anything survivor sided.

That coupled with the points I mentioned previously meant that a lot of survivor mains left the game. Which is kind of obvious, I mean you understand the devs unit of metric sure, but you just watch nerf, after nerf, after nerf as it all gets taken away. Why would you stay for that? Its kind of miserable.

What has this created? In short. Entitlement. Killer mains know if they whine, they get what they want.

THIS is the environment the devs have created and what you see on the forums.

    Trajectory of this game

Infinites gone, vaulting/perk/map/pallet nerfs, bloodlust added, end game timer added, hatch close added. All this has made being killer easier and survivor harder since release.

2 escapes, 2 kills is the devs unit of metric. You don’t have to like that but it’s whats given the survivors all their nerfs and all the killers current buffs.

You look at the SB vs. NOED debates that happend at release all those years ago. SB now is mediocre at best where as NOED is still a high tier perk.

Killers now are up around 70% kills due to the trajectory of the game and the devs metric system, unless you feel their metric system is bad, in which case they can undo all the changes I've just mentioned....

It's only been recently that killers have started getting push back from devs because the state of the game is disconnecting survivors who know a game is going to end in a 4k so why bother for 3k BP.

And what do we see? Thread after thread recently of nurse players whining, legion players whining. People talk about salty survivors alot in this forum but ignore the elephant in the room.

Alright. So let's unpack this, shall we ?

Killers have been buffed because they need it. Like you said, 2k 2 escape, so that's why.

There is ONE killer that takes no skill to play and that's the Nightmare, if you complain about him, that's understandable. But there are killers that really really REALLY need buffs. Trapper is one example. There is also Clown, Leatherface and so on. You should take into account that not everyone has all killers maxed out. I don't have a single DLC killer ! The devs also have to take that into account, so write this onto your mind.

Trajectory of this game part :

Infinites gone : Should they stay ? Should you be able to loop a killer endlessly ?

Vaulting/map/perk/pallet nerfs : Vaulting feels much more smooth now, maps got bigger, killers have perk nerfs aswell and I don't know about pallet nerfs.

Bloodlust : If you encounter a baby killer, you can pretty much loop him for 5 years. That's why bloodlust was added. Red ranks don't use bloodlust that often anyway.

End game timer : There are 2 doors in the game. You need to police them both. If players just hide in a bush with Spine Chill and just hide in the bush again when you come back, there is nothing you can do.

Hatch close : OK, so you want 3 doors ?

You're saying this made killer easier and survivor harder. Yes, it did do that but it also balanced stuff out. If you look at them now, they look broken because they WERE broken !

If a survivor knows that the killer is going to get a 4k, which most survivors disconnect very early onto the game because they were outplayed or something, then the survivors did something wrong. It's not the killers fault for being good.

Nurse and Legion are hard killers but Nurse is balanced imo. Legion is in a weird spot.

A salty killer is easy to find. They show themselves.

Yeah, better to have the 110 killer only be able to get looped and face tank pallets with no tricks or mind games while their power is on cooldown.

It's right there in the Survivor rulebook. "Thou shalt not interfere with the Nascar!"

First of all, I am a killer main.

Second of all, when you outplay a Spirit and she uses the "im invisible lol" card, whats the point of me outplaying her ?

  • @thrawn3054 said:

The game has never been easier for killers. The match making makes it feel far more unbalanced than it is. If they could get rid of the dead zones on maps, make dedicated servers function properly, and fix match making. The game would be as close to balanced as it ever will be.

Playing killer is a 50/50 right now. You either get perfect survivors or get realy trash survivors. If you only look at the trash part of it, I guess you are right.

  • Well, its quite stupid then.

  • @Orion said:

That's passive phasing and it is intended.

No, not that. While she's walking, randomly, she just disappears. I'm not talking about standing still. I'm talking about literal walking.

  • @Bmj2 said:

LOL killers still complaining about brand new part thinking it is OP ?

Yeah dude.. I suggest they remove all the survivor items and only let them use 1 perk slot instead 4. Also remove SWF as a whole and only let survivors solo queue. That way all the baby killers will finally be happy they can get 4k in all games and feel better about their life.

You do realise that there are Survivor players (like myself) that ONLY play SWF because thats how they get the most fun out of the game.

If you are feeling too "stressed" playing killer maybe you should find some other game that doesn't put so much pressure on your shoulders.

You are really missing the point here.

  • I like getting into chases as a survivor but I do gens too

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

So you admit youre a bad player that has to frustrate others in response for your own lack of skill. OKAY ... not.

Uhm... how, exactly ? They frustrate me, the game frustrates me (by putting me against rank 1's) but I can't frustrate the people who frustrate me ? Like I said, I don't have anything to counter them. I can't slow gen speed, I can't put pressure onto survivors since they are gods at looping and they are objectively better than me. I can't do anything at that point. If you think I can do something without camping to put pressure onto survivors, I am open to suggestions.

  • @dimar18 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1345537#Comment_1345537

Just checked you're whole quote and you're totally wrong.

You're whole argument is about some specific scenario of "let's say if...." and no, we dont balance around "if...."

EVERY match is a unique match, you dont know what's going to happen so you can say "let's say if....."

And we dont have any proof about the OP's game, so this can be 99% be another fake "gen speed bad" thread.

You just choose numbers that you want to fit your narrative, you dont know what killer im playing, what map it is, what items survivor have, what addons I have, what offering I have, my skill/survivors skill....and even with that we still dont know what's going to happen

I was playing demo once and 4 gen popped in less than 3 min, guess what? I got a 3k.

I don't think gen speeds are broken, they are balanced but I am a rank 7 killer and I go against rank 1 4-man swf squads. They have better perks since they played the game more while I don't have anything to slow gen speed. I don't live in an economically good nation so I have to wait for sales to happen. I don't have corrupt, pop or anything. If the game puts me against rank 1's, how do I counter them without having any perks to slow gen speed ?

  • @ALostPuppy said:

Camping is ok, same with genrushing. If survivors want to hammer out gens as fast as possible for a quick win that's their choice. Half the time what you define as "gen rushing" is just survivors playing well and not grouping up. You don't apply pressure and the gens fly. And unless they had 4 BNPs and prove thyself, they did not do the first gen in 20 seconds, nor the second gen in 40.

I think its near those numbers and the gens were close

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

    Why wouldn't it be ok?

I don't know, I get called out for it everytime I get a Merciless in a genrush 4k squad

  • When someone is trapped, that sound and the feeling... its beatiful.

  • @I_Teabag_Gate said:

Nobody thinks it's a serious post. It's a false equivalency.

Killers already have ways to make gens revert. Survivors need DS or tunnelling will become the best strategy in the game.

Borrowed Time (I am not saying DS is overpowered or broken but there are situations where you can't do anything to a downed survivor because they have DS, an example would be in the exit door but other than that, DS is OK).

  • For killer : Adam. I have to camp him because he has Deliverance.

For survivor : Doctor. I am not good at looping and with that shock, oof.

  • These are actually decent perks !

  • Well, I don't have any DLC killers or survivors atm. I plan to get some but until then, I use the Shrine to get some usefull perks, I think it was 3 weeks ago, Discordance was in the Shrine. If you own all killers and survivors, BPs can be usefull

  • For anyone that wants the video (the second game btw) :

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrmGGUeKXY8

  • I think the game is fine as it is. The devs put a lot of variety into the game, if you are sick of doing the same thing over and over again, try a new build ! It really helps.

The amount of games I get where I’m tunnelled right off the bat is an absolute joke. My very first game this morning I went in to, had to crouch walk around the map (against spirit) as gens were blocked, somehow she knew where I was around a corner although no aura perks would have been activated. I went down, got saved and she phase walked back to hook and waited for me to get unhooked before striking me down again.

So when the game puts people with killers who clearly can’t play the game properly or fairly, the survivor either has to wait and waste more time just to be tunnelled and camped to kill themselves and lose a pip, or disconnect and lose the pip anyway but get slapped with a time-out.

I feel there should be either a passive perk running for every survivor when there are 3-4 in trial to deter tunnelling, such as borrowed time effect for 20 seconds passively after being off the hook, or maybe some sort of ‘fresh meat’ point system for killer which would encourage them to go for someone else and lose points for re-hooking the same survivor continuously.

Killers will ALWAYS catch survivors during a trial, but it’s really unfair how survivors take the backlash of a killers inability to play the game properly or fairly. The game rewards tunnelling and facecamping too much and I think the reason the community is getting so thin is because people just can’t be bothered to waste their time any more when it could be better spent playing another game that isn’t so aggravating.

I’m all for trying to avoid being tunnelled once I’ve been downed (obviously) and even had team mates come to take hits while I’m being tunnelled but these shameless losers just have no other interest than to ruin everyone else’s game and waste people’s time just to earn their bloodpoints in a cheap and easy manner?

For the record I don’t necessarily oppose to tunnelling a cocky survivor or someone who is clearly trying to grief killers. I play both survivor and killer and I never tunnel or camp, as I don’t like it when it’s done to me, (also I can play properly and get a 4k without doing it so there’s no need).

I’m expecting some comments from salty killers/tunnellers/face campers and all I’d say to you is try and think about what you’re taking away from other people trying to enjoy a game just because you won’t commit to playing well enough that everyone gets a fair chance.

Well, I can see why you are frustrated. It happens to me too. I loop the killer until all gens pop but still die. This happened to me this day, too but you can't do anything about it. The developers told us that camping and tunneling are not bannable (so they are OK to do) but it is morally wrong. The only thing you can do about getting tunneled or camped is just not getting downed in the first place. You have to loop them perfectly and not make a single mistake. You can use Iron Will, it really helps in this strategy.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Sounds like you need to expand your perk pool a bit more.

Unfortunatley for killers, they kinda rely on each others teachable perks. It does feel like you need either Hex: Ruin or Pop Goes the Weasel to slow survivors from completing their objective too quickly.

Yea but I'm waiting for a discount on the DLCs so I can buy some killers, and I have been using the shrine to get discordance and stuff

  • There is quite a lot to unpack here. You basically just made a new game at this point. The skill checks on totems are actually really good, the 180 angle when doing gens make sense but the 10 skill check thing makes the game osu! at that point. The 3rd add-on for killers would actually be pretty good but... the other suck. They just really, really suck. The Doctor and the Shape are pretty balanced. Micheal is really weak, actually. The Doctor is good against BAD survivors. The Judgement Mechanic is way too complex and it has way too many holes in it. You have some decent ideas but the rest just completely suck.

  • @AvisDeene said:

It’s not that you’re bad, it’s just bad matchmaking and you probably don’t have enough experience.

Trapper also needs a buff. It is ridiculous that he needs to travel all over the map just to get to his traps. His base trap carry amount needs to be increased and he needs to start with more traps.

You also need to learn where to place traps that Survivors wouldn’t expect. Placing traps at pallets is super obvious. Most Survivors expect it and will avoid them, or know to walk right past it if you left a big enough gap.

Also, every killer suffers against red rank Survivors. I recommend you get your Hag leveled up in order to unlock Devour Hope and Ruin. With Trapper, you can protect those two hexes as long as they spawn in good corners.

Search "how to run tiles in dbd" and just try to end chases faster. Slowly but surelly wins will start coming more and more.

In general don't go into a match expecting to win. Go into a match expecting to improve your play.

Also try to play survivor too even if just a little. Seeing what other killers do can help you get better.

  • I play survivor and killer, a r11 survivor and a r7 killer, and I play solo all the time. Even if I get bad teammates, if I do good I get my pip and I don't even get bad teammates ! AT RANK 11 ! I don't have DS or Unbreakable, I only have Dead Hard. So, yeah, if you do good then you get your pip no matter the teammates. You are just whining because playing SWF makes the game so much easier, not easy, easier. Btw, I suck a little bit at looping. So, please, quit whining.

  • Well, I don't think the Mending is the problem, the problem is that Legion can get to you VERY fast. You have nothing against a good Legion since they will never get stunned and you can't wait her power out since she's faster than you. I think the Frenzy mechanic should get a nerf, like Legion can still vault, but vault as fast as a slow vaulting survivor or just make it a little bit slower.

There is no way to avoid Legion, so this would make it a bit more fair.
