Dude all your examples are from people like the 3 man swf when they see deathslinger and all dc before anybody was downed/hooked. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you have to deal with something that you do not like that is just life.
BBQ has so many counters i am too tired to even list them afaik there are 7 right now. Several other perks do not give you a status effect either like discordance or nurse calling, some perks are so good that you just assume the killer has it each and every time.
As somebody who plays mostly exclusively swf with regular mates, the thing is that you have lots of info even in solo q. There is just no excuse for the blendettes who sit around and do nothing. Sure it is not the same amount but at the point where another survivor gets hit, you know and there is no excuse for doing anything else but gens ( or you are a dick like me and follow for fl saves).
As killer facing swf is okay, sometimes you will just get people that are better than you and that is fine. It is far from the most horrible day in my life to face people who play together. When people go tryhard as survivor, i simply go tryhard as killer as well. I prefer chilled games but that is just me.

good idea, however, the doctor shock can be slow. not too confident, but I might give it a try.
well idk for sure whether the little area infront of him has been fixed since the "rework" there was a really close arear directly in front of him when he uses shock, it will not hit. i dont know whether or not it has been fixed just. if you wanna be a dick, use him and make sure to stay a bit away from it and people are unable to unhook. he is the best facecamper there is

The only way how somebody can come up with the opinion that shred is not good is because the person has no clue whatsoever on how to use it.
Did it ever occur to ask for advice on how to use it instead of claimg bs about it? 🙄

She's being used so much for the same reason Freddy IS and Nurse ISN'T. They're extremely strong and extremely simple to play/learn and require little mechanical skill.
Why do killers have to require mechanical skill? All the killers that required any mechanical skill were nerfed and are buggy af. That is what crybaby survivors wanted from bhvr. What mechanical skill do survivors require? Ah none.
Spirit was already nerfed, they added vaulting animation and she is fine now. It is not a guess, it is a mindgame.Whether you like it or not, mindgame means to manipulate the other in order to gain an advantage so by definition even spirit standing still at a pallet is a mindgame.
Get better at it.
Cool tournament story, mind sharing the VoD? It is so odd that tournament teams can win against spirit even in chase, even without any counterplay and every chase just lasting 15seconds xD you people are hilarious.

Not really a guess for the spirit if they have stridor and can hear exactly where you are. Training yourself to use sound as a killer isnt hard it's just free info.
Since sound isn't bugged since months.

@azame said:
Now I see killer mains who say survivor is easy and yet can't themselves. If you can't handle a chase as survivor but make bold claims your argument is invalid.
Survivor is easy because you do not need to be able to loop optimally in order to have success as a survivor. There are enough videos, posted here and even more in the depths of the web, where you can see survivors who last 20-30secs in a chase and yet the killer will sweat his/her ass off in order to win the game.
As long as people do gens when possible, looping is not really that relevant, you can even waste pallets like there is no tomorrow in order to not get hit, the killer still chasing that person will lose him the game. Meanwhile you always have "downtimes" as survivor, the time where in a match you sit at a gen and just check your surroundings or listen to what your teammates tell you ( so you do not even need to check your surroundings). The killer usually doesn't get that because he needs to juggle the survivors and get them to making mistakes, so many mistakes he can walk away with the win.

@Waffleyumboy said:
That's a really fancy way of saying "I don't know how mind games work, but I'm gonna explain them anyway!"
Mind games involve guessing from both players, Spirit involves guessing from the survivor while she retains all the tools she needs to gain an advantage. Killers don't rely on survivors making mistakes to get downs, they take chances with 50/50s in order to have a shot at ending the chase early. Otherwise they have to use their power to close the chase gap and prevent the survivor from extending it indefinitely. This is objectively how chases work, you have no argument here so I don't expect you to respond. If you do respond, try not to resort to name calling too fast, that would be boring and predictable.
Mindgame means to manipulate the other in order to gain an advantage.

Seriously? Is it somehow hard to understand (or read?) that there is a difference between escaping the game and have counterplay in a chase? Where in those videos is there any evidence of how to have counterplay against Spirit or Deathslinger... in a chase? Because they escaped? Wow, i can show you also 1000 videos about me doing that. But none provided any real counterplay in a chase against any of those.
The Legion had the exact same problem, nobody was complaining that there is no way to escape at trial, in fact he was weak, but his chase was braindead stupid with nothing you could really do as survivor but hoping he is bad. And that is the problem. Not that survivors can not escape but there is nothing effective they can do in a chase that really matters. All comes down to that the killer is playing not very well.
Read carefully now before you post the next 2 random videos where somebody escapes a killer... show me a video of someone who can counter a Deathslinger in a chase. Not by missing his shots, not by ######### up, but by serious counter the survivor achieved somehow.
So far i never did it and i never saw anybody doing it, at least not in a scenario where i was not totally counting on luck / bad play by the other side. Maybe you are the one who got something we all dont know. Surprise us.
Maybe watch the videos? Otherwise we can stop because the players did run each spirit for several minutes in a chase. When there is no counterplay how is that possible? Yeah it isn't.

Yes they have counterplay. its called "do the ######### gens as fast as possible and get the hell out of here".
Counterplay in a chase? Lets solve this mystery by asking Youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=looping+deathslinger
Where are those videos about how to run a Deathslinger? Anybody looped him for 5 gens? No? Not even a baby Slinger? The True Talent Video maybe? More a joke or clickbate then any souce that actually helps.
You find so many 5 gen loops against almost every killer, but not against Deathslinger. Or lets watch the "i outplayed Deathslinger " videos, there are some. Well.. their outplay is always he is missing easy shots.
Why are people claiming they have counterplay when those counterplays are always "he is missing". You got something better? Upload it, you will get my thumps up in a split second.
And about Scott. I never watched Scotts gameplay videos or streams to be honest, but his "real talk" series is great. He understand the game better then most here and is not biased towards one side which gives his opinion some value. You say he is wrong, but nobody so far has anything better to show and talk then "Deathslinger is missing" or other stuff that has nothing to do with the survivor actually outplaying him.
Yes sick gen rushing, the first gen took them 3 minutes and all 4 get out vs the killer who has no counterplay according to you.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/691621132?t=00h05m09sAnd another 4 ezcapes against the killer who has no counterplay. For a killer that doesn't have any counterplay, the first guy lasts almost 2mins in one chase.

I main Survivor and I've been playing Nurse for almost 2 months non-stop. I went from rank 20 to rank 5 (can't pass rank 5, sadly), and almost all matches are painful, really stresfull. When I'm facing a solo team it's reasonably easy, but when I'm facing a swf and they understand I'm more than an average nurse, generators goes in the blink of an eye. I'm really questiong my capacity of playing her and I'm almost sure that, for me, it's not worth that pain.😥
Dedication pretty much.
Try to play her with the wooden horse addon alone. Play her even without any perks to understand her power better and get better gamesense, this helps alot to master her imo. See what you can do, where you can improve. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that you have to win every game, it is okay to lose. Everybody does lose games.

@Godot said:
Most of the Killers I come across complain about being gen-rushed, but they don't look at the fact that they've tunneled a single Survivor the entire game.
Don't get me wrong, majority of Killers are actually smart and leave Survivors that really know how to loop or always lead them back to that one annoying loop area, and instead, they go after other Survivors. Or, these Killers are just simply better at the game, use good perks and put more pressure on generators.
Remember, the Killer's objective is not only to "kill" the Survivors, it is also to protect and keep the generators from being repaired. Many perks help the Killer in this case: Ruin, Corrupt Intervention, Surveillance, PGTW, Surge and even the new Dragon's Grip (presuming it won't be nerfed), in a way.
That said, being on a high horse and acting all high-and-mighty while tunneling a Survivor and miserably failing at it doesn't immediately put the blame on the Survivors for doing their one and only objective.
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
And stop blaming the Survivors for doing their objective. lol
I think this is true to some degree but you can not judge all people by it. It depends on the killer they play, the map they do play on and ofc the survivors. So when survivors do play in swf, it is way more difficult for the killer. Don't get me wrong i do not condemn swf but survivors who do play like this and just focus on doing gens don't need to complain to face the most sweaty killer they can get.
I actually do not want to hear a single complaint/excuse from people who play the game supersweaty and cry when they receive the same in return. With that I do not mean the usage of moris but a sweaty playstyle as in 3-genning, proxy-camping, slugging, tunneling and so on. You basicly juggle hookstages of 2 survivors in order to stop the others from doing gens.
Also the idea of dropping chase is only viable in certain points of the game. For example when you drop chase as soon as a survivor runs to a rather safe area, you will not get any pressure ever. However it depends on the killer you play.
Same goes for killers, i do not want to hear stories from people who bring 4 gen slowdown perks and do not manage to get anything done.

Then you were with swf because I play solo and the totems are never done. Hell even 2 man swf can be tricky sometimes depending on the map and people you get out with.
You want to talk about math? 5 totems is 74 seconds cleansing alone. That’s basically an extra generator. That’s not including those times you get interrupted as the killer walks past and you have to stop losing your progress. Add in the amount of time travelling to and looking for the totems which can vary by map but can add minutes on. Sometimes you only just barely get the gens done and literally don’t have time to get the gens done. All this to stop the killer from activating god mode and using a perk which takes all skill out of the chase and allows you to instadown survivors at a time when theres gonna be barely any pallets left on the map and maybe not even a full survivor team left.
Meanwhile, asking a killer to simply not pick someone up within 60 seconds of them being unhooked is apparently too hard to do and not an acceptable counter at all.
The killer main entitlement is real.
5x14=70 not 74. Not even gonna talk about that each survivor can do one totem and another does 2 while they all have to travel the map anyway.
Learn totem spots.
God mode? All skill? Easy kiddo, you wanted billy nerfs because you have no clue what skill means in the first place. We all heard how vocal you were about how easy it is and when actually challenged, you coward out like a chicken.
Yeah not even gonna bother with this "not pick them up" as they have to be on the ground first, meaning that takes time to find the survivor, down him and then just let him be because who cares about tunneling even tho it is supposed to be an anti tunneling perk.
Seems to me bt,ds are as much crutches as noed is.

FOR THOSE JUST ARRIVING, ACTUALLY READ THE ENTIRE POST. OVER 80% OF PEOPLE HERE READ THE FIRST PARAGRAPH AND WENT INTO THE COMMENTS.
ALSO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT I AM SAYING. Many people just go into the comments blaming me for the penalties when I've constantly said to people that I have good internet and no particular problems with my game. Rather, it's the other people who lose connection that I feel for. I've lost connection and received bans for fighting games before, and I know how it feels to be falsely punished.
I should probably also point out that I play on PS4, not PC. Many people are getting confused about that.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The DC penalty, most people have experienced it whether it be from exiting a match, losing connection, or the game crashing, but that's just it. The penalty doesn't affect dcing as much as it affects poor connection or the game dying, meaning innocent players will receive bans for unfair reasons. Not just that, but the game is in such a 50/50 state that it could almost be considered early access by some. A game that has been out for 4 years, has over two thousand dollars worth of dlc, and is riddled with glitches is...not good?
I mean, the game is stable, but it's foundation is weak, and the path it is taking can closely resemble that of DayZ, a game that has been in early access for years upon years. The only difference between the two is one isn't glitch infested and doesn't have a month's pay worth of dlc.
With all that being said, this game does need a dc penalty, but the state the game is in, and how the penalty was implemented is bad. The penalty should at the very least reset over a period of a week. Or even just go back by one penalty period.
These posts are repetitive, but they pinpoint a huge issue that is plaguing the game, and if it doesn't get fixed, then much of the playerbase (that's even left) will always be left with a "sour taste" in their mouths.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Please be civil in the comments. Danke.
I think I do not know a single mp game which does not punish you when you dc from a ranked game. The reason for the dc is irrelevant. Do some people get punished even tho they lost connection due to something they are not to blame for? Sure. However on the other hand it is very common in some games to dc by simply cutting the internet "pull the plug" so you circumvent the punishment.
To me dc punishments have to stay as there are simply too many sore losers. Also when you keep getting disconnected, you have to somehow figure out how to fix it. It simply sucks for the other 4 people to have a game ruined by someone who knows that he/she has a problem with their connection or that they keep getting booted every 2nd game.

I try to be nice by leaving the hooked guy and give the other dude a chance to get a save. I then proceed to get body blocked to death because haddonfield is such a great map, and when I get bodyblocked and forced to down the BT'd unhooked guy I get DS'd in the exit gate which was right next to the damn hook. Lose 2 kills because of second chance perks once again saving a team that I rightfully smashed in game. Guess I was tunneling?
I'm just gonna continue making these posts. Probably won't matter, but I'll continue doing it. That way people can see how often I personally come across these seemingly RARE games where the perks screw over a game, which supposedly only happen once every 1000 years. But don't worry. They're only anti tunneling perks, and if I get DS'd that means I was tunneling.
Well you tried to be nice so do not be nice next time. I kinda find it odd that you seem to be aware of what will happen yet do not prevent and complain afterwards about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the same thing could happen to billy. Hard core billy's will not dump billy, but new billy's will give up for another killer. middle billy's, i have no idea.
Honestly why even bother? You will be punished for trying to master something with a cd which leads to less practice and more boring play, m1, isn't exactly my idea of fun after thousands of hours in the game.
So yesterday i tried myself with flickbilly, double engravings. Lets go. Ofc it was horrible and i missed about 80-90% of the flicks, each success actually was great. However the thing is, everybody had a great time in the match. I think it went on for about 15mins even when the door was opened they wanted to continue and just have fun with chase and saw. Afterwards everybody was just happy about the match and thankful for just having fun. I really don't see why this needs to be removed so yeah probably gonna drop him and not even bother further to master/practice that.
Nurse still bugged fml, is there any killer that requires some mechanical skill left in this game?

People do that regardless even before the change so it doesn’t make a difference
Ofc it makes a diffrence. Before there was instasaw to encourage that playstyle and people tend to take the easy route. As you can see there have been people who mastered billy, why punish them? With the upcoming change that is all a billy will ever do. Doesn't it make you sad that there is stuff like this in the game that will vanish? Skilled play is something that should be encouraged and treasured.
-
Yes it should be removed. It encourages bubba play, run up behind a play and instadown them because you are not able to waste any attempt of your saw. Sorry why bother to attempt flicks, curves when you will be punished in order to go for the skilled play?
It is another unfun mechanic nobody asked for that will remove a fun part from dbd.

@Munqaxus said:
I've noticed a lot of players saying "You should balance toward the highest level of play". This game play fallacy is has been around forever and I'm going to explain why it doesn't work. It's actually very simple...
When game play is balanced toward the "Highest Level of Play", you exclude the casual player base, that makes up 90% to 95% of your game, in your balancing decisions. It basically causes the skill-cap to become so high, that only 5% to 10% of players can actually play the game.
Examples...
- Starcraft II was balanced toward the highest level of play and the game became a spectacular failure. It became so skill-capped for high end play that all of the casuals left the game because it was literally unplayable to casuals. This game alone, should be a text-book reason why you don't balance toward "The highest level of play". The game had everything it needed to become one of the top games ever. It has a massive loyal fan base to both Starcraft and Blizzard. The esports world was hungering for Starcraft II, after the popularity of Starcraft. Yet Developer decision after decision, made the game harder and harder for casuals to play, because every decision was based on the most skilled player.
- The Nurse in Dead By Daylight. Here's another great example in our own game, where "Balancing Toward the Highest Level of Play" doesn't work. The Nurse has become so skill-capped, because she was balanced towarded the highest level of play, that new players won't even attempt her, casual players stopped playing her and only the best Nurse players pick her up. However, when the best Nurse players do play her, she gets 4ks within minutes of the start of the game. The only reason she works in DBD is because there are many other killers that casuals can play.
The better option for game play balance is balance game play around casuals and use high-end game play to adjust game play that can be exploited by very skilled players.
No. Balancing towards the top players of the game does not exclude the rest of the people who play the game at all, in fact it protects them as the top players will find broken stuff that needs to be fixed so they do not roflstomp the ######### out of everybody else who is not at their level of play.
1.
You do not know much about SC2. To call the game a failure is such a facepalm when there is no other RTS title in recent years that comes even close to the success SC2 had. SC2 has always been a game which was demanding alot from the players and always had a very competitive scene.
2.
Nurse is bugged af, i would love to play her but it is too frustrating due to the amount of bugs i encounter per game. Literally has nothing to do with that.
Okay let us balance around the most casual of players. Just assume that for a minute, all the crazy threads you know with suggestions that come from inexperience of the game would suddenly be implemented. The game would turn into a shitshow. Sorry people are not being excluded from the top 5% the 95% rest of it are just protected from their inexperience or mechanical inabilities from which they yet suffer.

Dumb useless mechanics added which are not fun

I work long hours and have the luxury of having twitch streamers on while I work and I notice constantly that even veteran players with 5000+ hours are often not interested in finding ways to counter new things in the game and simply make videos being negative about the changes, make complaint videos and put forth tons of energy to make negative things, but few, ever focus on how to be positive and counter things. For example, I watch some big survivor streams and see them despise certain killers becuse they cant run them and loop them as easily, they literally say this, but then if you say "because they cant loop the killer" you are told thats a weak argument, despite them literally saying it on camera while they DC.
Just something I notice, many of the more popular streamers of this game sink back into their normal perks after new DLC and rarely main a new killer or run new survivor perks.
Well I will have to take your word for it cause I do not watch that many streams. But I sure think that this is a thing since sometimes ego also plays a role, a person knows best cause x amount of time and the opinion = fact. No matter even if they run into obvious paradox like the one you mentioned.

- You know you can just lunge at the person doing the gen and down him right?
- What prevents the person with DS from running behind you with a flashlight trying to save his mate with DS active for the rest of the match?
You should check out when the devs changed ds to an anti tunnel perk.

the only thing people complained about with billy was his lame addons. He was a perfectly balanced killer. I main killer so spirit getting nerfed or not effects me just about 0%.
I can still recognize when a killer is lame though and I’ve never met someone who thinks spirit is fun. You could provide an example other than “guess where she is with a flashlight” to show she’s balanced and fun.
”the mk community is little whiners” I think you meant the whole fighting game community. You go to any fighting game and people are begging for nerfs and whining about pointless things.
Nope i do not mean the whole fighting game community. Don't see JDCR complain much or others. But w/e.

I played mk 9 and mk x from it’s release to the release of mk 11 and I still actively play mk 11. I wouldn’t start pretending that fighting games are these glorious games that you need megamind skills to play.
also, fighting game communities have some of the biggest whiners when it comes to asking for nerfs and changes. Take a chill pill.
Spirit absolutely is unfun to go against though. Her gameplay loop boils down to stopping at a dropped pallet and staring for a bit before either phasing to get the hit or mind gaming them into revaulting the pallet negating any actual skillful play on the survivors part. The killer is a simple 50/50 killer with not real skillful counter play. I don’t think she needs a huge nerf. There just needs to be a visual cue for when she starts her phasing.
Yes cause the mk community consists of little whiners, also it is basicly dial-up game. Take another one.
It is unfun for you, others enjoy going against her. You can keep the fun part completely to yourself and is utterly irrelevant as it was fun for most people to verse a billy and he just got gutted.

There's a great Scott Jund video where he goes over what can make a killer unfun to play against.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h10-JuLwEU
She negates any skill a survivor has gotten over the course of their playtime and just boils down to a 50/50 at every pallet waiting for the survivor to either start leaving or stay around the dropped pallet. Both lead to hits 9 times out of 10. It's the same reason people find Freddy, Clown, and Deathslinger to be unfun to play against.
All she needs to have changed is to actually have a visible change for when she starts phasing.
And he couldn't be more wrong about it.

Been screwing around with Nurse tonight and having fun with a killer I NEVER play and was just thinking are ANY of her addons strong? Some of em seem useful, but I dont really see any combo that would seem really good. Thoughts?
Kavanaghs Last Breath + Fragile Wheeze a longer blink, quicker recovery. You can try both ranges but it takes too long for me personally to charge at least last I tried. Heavy Panting + Fragile Wheeze the same with little less distance.
Dark Cincture + Fragile Wheeze vanilla distance and very quick recovery
Matchbox + Spasmodic Breath ... memes? I really dislike the you get to walk fast addons because playing nurse is for blinking not walking.
That is what comes to mind, depends a little bit on what you prefer. Play around and you will find out what you like. Just do not use the, return to your previous position, blink forward upon pressing a button bs addons they are useless. If you have trouble adjusting to the blink, try the make survivors scream when you blink past them (no gurantees) that it works as i imagine but it should help to pay more attention.
Learn to flick and how to "cancel" blinks, use your blinks to look around. Also something that you should keep in mind, when you need to cover distance -> Charge blink, while you blink, charge the 2nd blink as it allows you to travel more distance compared to charge, blink, charge. At least it did.
Hope you have fun, i am jealous that you can play without bugs, fml.

Has nothing to do with toxic.

I mean, you didn't cheat but you were being a sweaty killer by using tombstone and tuft of hair. if you need those addons to win a game then you need to get good at the game.
When you want to trashtalk somebody, maybe try it when they do not use a meme build.

Actually it is soul guard + unbreakable now.
######### is hilarious, stand up, get hit, drop a pallet, tbag and run away. 🤣

I don't understand.
If you people see cakes are being used, then why is everyone being such a dick about helping each other out?
If you're a good survivor and you're ripping the killer apart, then give the killer a chance to earn some points also.
If you're a killer and you see that the survivors don't stand a chance, then why not be less of a dick and give them a chance to earn some bloodpoints?
I really don't understand the point of using cakes at all if everyone is completely squandering the opportunity to earn as much as possible from them. Such a weird community in this game.
I don't expect anything from other killer players. Usually what happens is i beat a team down, have them all on deathhook, depending on how many cakes have been offered i will let them farm. Especially when there are people who dc or suicide on hook. Considering how toxic some people are, I usually let them farm also when they like ######### up the game completely.
Honestly I do not care for my rank, it is meaningless. I want bps, most other people also want bps so let them have it together with some good chases, seems fine to me.
