I think there goal here is “Transparency”.

They are simply trying to be informative. The reactions given based off information isn’t really in there control and to be fair people need to hold their reactive feelings UNTIL testing is open and available.

If that is their goal, is it really transparent to just double up on telling us what will happen two times within a weeks time?

I appreciate the info, info is nice, but half info which is in complete creates so much worry and questions.
Yes, I agree maybe they SHOULD hold their reactive feelings, but we are already getting calls for reworks of these new systems.

So my point is, why not take the human into consideration here?

To be constructive, Im not a community manager nor trained in such. I think it would be much better to a dev update telling us for example. How big a problem tunneling is? The data guys MUST have had some data on this to show why this is important to fix. Once you laid the ground works for why there needs change in the game, then you can just put the patch notes on PTB day a week later.

What do you think, wouldn't that be more transparent?

Don't shift the goal post you said using these strats is "MMR bloat" and now you say its "most optimal perks, strategies and addons will make you win more easily than not using those. Ill gladly be the first to tell you that, but you I think you are just being deceitful and you already realize that." MMR bloat is not a thing stop making things up.

Then lets nurf anything that is optimal, no more gen rushing, no more exhaustion perks, no more second chance perks, no more looping, as that's too optimal so it should be removed👍️.

Damn I guess all Platinum players in siege just bloat their MMR.

Cool you like to play like that some like to play to win and taking away playstyles and tactics ruins any sort of competitive experience when BHVR just decide to hold the casuals hand.

You don't understand high level DBD so why do you seek to ruin it when you yourself said "I like playing inefficient" Imagine if a bronze player was dictating how plat player play just insane.

Its not goalpost shifting, its what I meant, they are the same.
So you would not object if I said "best" in stead of optimal? or Most optimal as I did when I responded to VibrantToucan.
Then so be it. Thats what I mean.

When killers sweat "EVIL DETROY THEM"

When survs sweat "I'm just playing the game lol"

Im all my years of playing pvp games I have never seen people refer to using the optimal strategies as "MMR bloating". Like imagine your playing a shooter and saying "He is using the best gun he is bloating his MMR!" No he just knows what's best.

Also 12 hooks on trapper you are playing against potatoes.

Is there like an argument you want to make against my points? Like I dont care if you never been told that using the most optimal perks, strategies and addons will make you win more easily than not using those. Ill gladly be the first to tell you that, but you I think you are just being deceitful and you already realize that.

But fine, yeah using the most optimal things is gonna bloat your MMR.
No I dont want to play with PainRes, POP and dead mans switch.

I like playing inefficient, I play playing with random perks, I want to play with random addons/ offerings even.

    I am just asking why.

Why would you change a killer that most agreed was the highlight of old DbD design?

Cause his design was problematic and people asked for it and we are not old dbd anymore?

  • I have more question from discussing this on reddit, blue-sky and discord. Please Ryan

    1. Does other Survivors letting one of them die on hook trigger the "6th hook" rule?
    2. Does distortion block the new "basekit BBQ" effect?
    3. Does the 6hook rule mean Survivors cant be sacrificed from the 6th hooking?
or does it mean it has to be sacrificed from the 7th hooking.

I will update this list later.

  • More questions:

If a Survivor dies before 6 total hook states, all remaining Survivors gain a repair speed bonus for the rest of the Trial.

Does that mean you have to hook 5 before you can Kill or does it mean you have to hook 6 before you?

So if a Survivor dies on the 6th hook its fine? Or can they only begin dying as a result of hooking 7?

How is playing for the win bloating MMR? Yeah, if killers 12 hooked every games they'd lose more games. Same for pallet saves, SWF, Syringes, etc... should those be considered MMR bloating too?

How is playing for the win bloating MMR?

Because DBD is a game that has randomly generated and also skill components, some of those skill components can be utilized by choice, to do the most optimal with no disregard for how fun the game is for other players.

Taking that choice to play optimally is going to bloat your MMR, than if you didnt make that choice.
Yes, using syringes every game would bloat your MMR as well, when you run out of syringes you will take a dip in MMR.

  • even the strongest killers have a hard time 12 hooking

I disagree I think this is absolutely wrong, I think either people are using perks to bloat their MMR up or sweating alot themselves. Both of which will increase your MMR and get you higher MMR survivors.

If you play in a chill way, your MMR rebalances and you get chill matches. I have absolutely no issue getting 12hooks on trapper.
Ofc that would require a Killer to maybe lose some matches, which will attack ones ego.

  • Me: 6800h Killer Main of Dead by Daylight been playing since 2016 eating these changes while every one else is kicking and screaming. Honestly I think you all stopped playing SoloQueue cause all of this is desperately needed for it.

    image.png

I know you all have not read every single discussion post about tunneling and slugging to understand how these changes solve the majority of problems that people have been leaving the game over, its like you guys want the game to die. I cant.

"She can be buffed later" is what a ton of people were saying about Sadako after her second rework, and it has yet to happen yet. Whenever someone tries bringing it up, we get people like you accusing them of just wanting an easy game for tunneling someone out. This will be a monumental problem for Sadako, and the devs will actively drag their feet to buffing her just like how they do whenever she gets bugged which has been quite constant.

Why does Sadako have one second interaction times? Why do her TVs have aura reading on them when turned on? Why are tapes no longer destroyed on hits? Because she's being balanced around survivors who didn't know how she worked or those who actively refused to engage with her playstyle and power.

If you need a base kit unbreakable after being downed for 90 seconds, on top of the basekit Tenacity, then perhaps you are playing against higher MMR killers than you should play against. Not even mentioning the repair speed boosts and unkickable and unblockable gens if a recently hooked survivor dies before six total hook stages are had. Or the lack of unhook notifications and delayed hook status UI for the killers. Give me a break.

Wrong, Survivors dont need these changes, these things are not done because Survivors have a need to.
They are done because of all the people who quit dbd and there has been many its mainly tunneling. And maybe of us who still play would like something done about tunneling, that is why we are doing these changes not what survivors need to survive.

The reason devs drag their feet is because there is no urgent problem, Sadako's killrate is acceptable, maybe not acceptable to you but thats not the issue, if this change does something, she will become urgent, its that simple.

Brother, who gonna waste time in running around when sadako can't kill them anyways? that's pointless, only pressure for her "slowdown" is mori, if she can't mori, there is no slowdown

I think you should think twice before posting something like that

who gonna waste time in running around when sadako can't kill them anyways

You can kill them, but the game just wont be easier because you tunnel someone out anymore.
or Slug them, make a play in less than 90s.

  • You can, just make a play in less than 90 seconds, if you cant do that then you are at a higher mmr than you should be in.

  • @Turbs said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3990495#Comment_3990495

This killer shouldn't be balanced around survivors who have no idea what they're doing against the power, but that's what the devs have been doing by making her counterplay so braindead easy. And you can't just slug people nowadays with Conviction existing and especially after this upcoming update if it goes through because there's basekit Tenacity and Unbreakable coming in with it.

If you cant make a meaningful play in 90s of the Survivor slugging around, then you are playing against higher mmr survivors than you should play against, which is a shame but it happens. But actually you can slug and you should.

This killer shouldn't be balanced around survivors who have no idea what they're doing against the power

The Killer isnt being balanced around that, the game in general is being balanced around that and the solution is to buff the remaining survivors to compensate for the poop team-mate. Sorry if you want an easy game for tunneling someone out, that wont be able to happen as easily anymore, which is a good change.

Should this be a monumental problem for Sadako, she can be buffed later.

Well that's what I'm saying. It's that if the killer is already preoccupied, they have very little reason to care if someone was unhooked or not.

But if they DID want to tunnel someone out, as I have pointed out, proxy camping is very easy in and of itself to do. And killers never needed a notification on unhook to tunnel someone out.

No, proxy camping is still bad but its worse for tunneling cause some survivors are smart.
You can very easily just drop your current chase and go to the hook when you get that notification.

You are right though, THEY CAN STILL PROXY CAMP.
but that's not a critique of the proposed changes or a tunnel problem, its camping problem.
BHVR did not fix all problems in one patch.

    Trust me, as a veteran.
That notification is very useful for tunneling, I've used it many times and if they didn't remove it it would not be at least somewhat harder to pull off then. It will absolutely matter, but then the Killer can enjoy the compensation buff to the remaining 3.

  • @Turbs said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3989827#Comment_3989827

Her power is to Condemn and mini mori survivors as an end reward for successfully doing so. The slowdown is a passive benefit from this playstyle as it's how survivors are supposed to combat against it to try and avoid her curse as long as possible. But now the counterplay is so easy and quick that the slowdown has begun to lose much of its pressure nowadays and her mobility is also shut down in doing so. That just leaves her as an M1 "stealth" killer with manifestation mind games as her only thing to lean on against competent survivors.

Its not playing effectively when you are playing against a survivor who dont know what they are doing.

Ofc Survivors need compensation if that happens and then you can just slug them before the 6th hooking is done.

  • @Cryptikk said:

You are literally rewarding survivors for being bad now…

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4F0MBU2OXVX2/image.png

Its called compensating but also you can just slug Survivor A then.

  • Why does it matter if the killer get a notification once a survivor is unhooked?

Cause then the Killer knows the unhook has happened and they can hurry over there to tunnel.
Ofc it matters and BHVR is right to address this.

Do you know how easy it would be to check this though? All you would have to do is ask the dbd stat guys how many Killers decide to run back to the hook after that notification is displayed and in my experience, its a lot.

Anyway you make valid points about Proxy Camping, but this isn't the PTB where BHVR addresses that.

  • My guy, we have been playing 2v8 day in and day out, its the most fun and action packed mode you can have.

  • They are adressed the worst part about Myers and he was severely outdated

  • Uhm… no her power is Tape Slowdown and Teleport. The Mori is for when Survivor fail to fix their tape charges.

As you guessed, this is largely to prevent bodyblocking. The affected Survivor will still be susceptible to attacks and Killer powers (albeit with Endurance, as noted).

I see you guys have studied all discussions we' have had here on the forum about these tunneling and slugging.
As an advocate for many of these changes I see you are adding here, I would like to Kiss and/or Congratulate the team.

    Absolute peak Update!

  • Does the "No collision with other players (both Killer and Survivor)." mean they cant be hit or is this to prevent bodyblocking?

  • Omg omg I NEED TO BE in this PTB, this is soo cool.

  • Honestly we tried going against a team of 4 escapists and they won easily, there were 3 gens left before we got our first down.
That change pretty much ruined that game for us. Absolute bullshit, the winrate should not be carried so hard by one class.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

Being able to break Dull totems would allow for consistent 5 stacks of Pentimento every game.

Thanks for the reminder, We can put a cooldown on it then.

I would like a way to use pentimento outside of Hex: Fortune's Fool (Hex: Plaything).
Im sure BHVR isn't satisfied with Pentimento being so reliant on another perk to function, by making Shattered Hope better we can increase the variety.

  • If the user is reigniting Circle of Healing then he is wasting time instead of helping his team.

  • I hope BHVR does not try to do a super complicated solution here. Here is what I would do:

    1. Remove the Kidnap tech and speed reduction on Survivor when vaulting.
    2. Observe how the Killrates behave after then and collect feedback.
    3. Buff or further nerf as needed after that.
    4. Repeat 2 and 3.

Much like how you clean a Kitchen it helps to remove all the trash first before you start cleaning it.

But hey I'm not a videogame developer, although I have observed how sometimes how some updates try to remove stuff and add other stuff at the same time. Ofc nerf without compensation or you will get alot of rage, but players will never get a clearer picture of the Killer unless we remove the worst parts and see what can be done after.

This is mainly to make players understand why changes happen.

  • Have you tried Killing the flashlight users??
That usually does the trick, instead of always picking up the person when you down them.

Welcome to Dead by Daylight, where you learn to deal with random chance in more ways than none.
I bet you feel the exact same way as a Survivor who runs into a deadzone without pallets by "random chance"

Unfair? Hell yeah, but thats only if you dont suspect anything can go wrong, luckily for you the chances are slim.
But next time pick up while facing a wall OR check behind a few things before picking up in the open.

Honestly the game would be boring if players could not suprise eachother by changing their strategies.
Flashlights should 100% stay in 2v8, infact we might need a flashlight class too for the people who are gods at it.

  • cause then all what it would take to ban everyone, is a hacker who increases the speed of other players. OR teleports them.
OR insta-heal them or complete a Gen they work on instantly, etc etc.

I don't think BHVR want to implement a way for hackers to more easily terrorize us.

  • Imagine a Killer Ghoul, The Ghoul we could call him.

But there is such a thing as honest disconnects.  Even when you have reliable power or internet, you know it's not 100% perfect all the time.  It's like saying humanity is 100% perfect all the time.  You know people aren't perfect, but you never know when they're going to mess up.

Also, wow, who resurrected this thread?

A disconnect is still a disconnect, if we cant disern the cause with certainty, then it doent matter if its honest or not.

I just noticed now its a necro posting.

  • No major J-horror chapter since Sadako

    What is Tokyo Ghoul then?

Sounds good anyway, but idd much rather have an Among Us Chapter killer to bear the title of The Imposter.

  • "I should not be punished disproportionally more, even though I'm a bigger offender by having unreliable internet/ power. Please allow the penalty to tick away while my power is out so I wont be inconvenienced, so I can play again and get disconnected faster again."

How about no, that sounds like a bad idea for the other players.

My take is, If you, your system or your power/internet grid is unreliable, then you have bigger problems than waiting.
I think the current system is better because 1. forces you wait to see if something fails again. 2. it keeps you out of games to disconnect from.

Please BHVR do NOT change the system,
Disconnections are a plague upon us and I think they just need to accept they have to wait.
You have NO IDEA how great it is to have fewer DC's cause now it actually blocks people meaningfully.

I once had a defective power supply in my PC, it caused many DCs and you know what I did, I stopped playing until I could fix it.

  • @CrypticGirl said:

Yeah, that is totally unfair. A huge "Eff you" to people who have the occasional power or internet hiccup. And isn't the first penalty or so supposed to be forgiving for those occasions?

But not so much of an "eff you" as to the people whos game you left.

If you maybe had to go in 5min more of less, why would you start a game? honestly people should fix their internet and power.
or move somewhere with internet and power that isnt reliable. No, we gotta have strict rules, if your computer may shut down in the next 5min, dont play a game, its so simple.

People are just wrong when they imply there is such a thing as honest disconnects, no you should know your system, you should know your power lines reliability. Stop ruining other people's games by joining and disconnecting.

  • the blast mine is cool, but I miss the gen speed.

  • image.png

There are so settings you can turn on that sorta hides this better. but its taxing on machines.. Its one of these:

  • Yeah this has been a problem for years, I always buy the cosmetics that dont have this problem.

  • I also want more points on Unknown :c

  • Unfortunately, its effectively ruining the queue time for people who dont enjoy 2v8.
Which is why I hope they add it to Custom Games.

We cant have the queue be ruined for normal mode players all the time and well I think its fine to have it as a mode that comes by once in a while.

    in 2v8 Comment by Emeal
  • I believe this is the point though, because the game is designed around hidden information to maintain balance and tension between survivors and killers.

It would also mean Survivors would not be able to meaningfully split pressure on multiple hexes. As you would be able to see which hex is worthy to sacrifice for a play.

  • @TheSingleQuentinMain If they can make it spawn there first of all then it will take from the numbers the that usually spawn.

  • Uhm, because that would strain Queues even worse??

  • @BugReporterOnly said:

It's been in Beat since the slider was introduced and a FOV tech has been abused since. Just look it up I'm sick of this garbage being allowed in game.

What can be reported without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

I can only find FOV Tech's from before it was introduced.

  • People killing themselves didn't mess with the game.

    Objectively untrue.

But please if this happens again make sure you add the game logs and share them here, so BHVR can see what went right and wrong with the system that checks for this. Additionally changes are coming to tunneling, camping and slugging in the foreseeable future.

  • 2v8 isnt great because of the lack of meta, its great cause the action is increased 300%.

  • The developers are already strapped for time at work, and you want their managers to squeeze out gameplay too?
Why don't you go watch the DBD Developers who stream in their spare time?

it''l show the doubters that the BHVR devs play the game.

The people who say that are not asking it as a question to be investigated, its just a tired old complaint because the internet makes it so easy to share our vapid commentary on everything, its a quip, it isn't true and it would serve no actual benefit to show them wrong, cause they will go to the next quip.

They don't care if BHVR actually plays or not, because if they did they would investigate it and find out they are wrong.
Our Community is absurd, you have to take whatever they say with a metric ton of salt.

  • One of the strongest Killers in the game

    hasn't truly received much love

    You cant have both.

  • I still use a GTX 970 and an i5, money is tight.

I would like to see a "very low" graphics option, one with very bad shadows

and I would also like to see BHVR take a look at how textures are loaded into memory based on distance, cause I swear If I get a skillcheck while the Killer is crossing that threshold, I wont be able to hit it.

  • You have no idea how many stuns and whiffs beginner Killers take, if you did this you would make the game absolutely unforgiving for new Killers trying to pick up the game. Please dont ruin this game for new people.

  • @tes said:

I don't understand what's stopping them from adding original killers, but the person above explained quite well why absolutely all killers are unavailable + queues will never be ideal

Cause Killers need significant changes to function will in the new game mode and those changes need to be tested too.
As well as changes to other Killers from recent feedback.
