  • Saw is what brought me back after I trailed off following my beta/early play. QA was better back then.

Silent Hill was just clean on release, even by the standards of other, more competent devs.

  • Are you console or PC? Are you running programs which can interfere with DBD on mid-range PCs, like discord? Is it literally every map and are there any other factors in common with the lag spikes?

  • They don't care, and no they don't check reports. There will be people who lie and cowtow to the party line, but reports do zilch in this game.

That said, there's a large segment of the playerbase that's LGBT, including streamers. I'd suggest finding some people who you can play with for your forays into the fog, rather than going it alone - and I will say that it's a bad call to put money into this company.

I never camp anything but the basement box and those that touch it. It has an infection on the lock - if you touch it, I have to socially distance you.

They should have let us know that they were gonna remove the offerings when they did, tbh they should've been left alone, instead given a "this offering has been retired" label on it

Given that they're changing the icons and names of the perks, I think the offering may not be a salvageable part of their agreement with Netflix - even commemoratively.

  • Refined Serum is the survivor version.

Not that anyone cares but it's disappointing that the DBD YouTuber/Streamer HybridPanda is in support of NFT technology and is somehow convinced they'll be good in the future (no matter that what, in 10+ years...how much damage will be done by then if even true) and is also whiteknighting BHVR and saying they're not at fault for this whole thing.....like how dense are people? BHVR easily not agree to such a thing, not support and certainly not promote this #########.

Considering people are posting here "gloating" - despite not understanding context, the direction of any 'boycott', and not looking beyond their egocentric views - it's unsurprising to see people acting like that. A lot of people hopped into the crypto cult after media fed a sugarcoated version of events during this year's Gamestop/AMC fiasco.

BHVR could have just waited to deal with Barker, BHVR could have been transparent rather than putting a clearly incompetent PR person on the task of derailing the NFT talk, BHVR could have done a lot of things: until they do, the best people can do is review-bomb with accurate depictions of this whole debacle, and go into their varied communities to tell people not to waste their money on this company.

I don't subscribe to or watch Otz a lot, but I've seen a lot of nice things when I do catch him/someone links me to a video (like in the OP).

He's helped other users gain their own followings, raided channels doing charity/fundraising streams for various causes, hosted said channels, done 3+ hour videos on multiple topics to assist new/struggling players (ie explaining how every perk in the game works), etc.

What is your definition of adequate community care?

"Funny, communicative, uplifting" - I mean, it's what any fanbase wants, yes? Charity raids and fundraising, instructionals, they're just part of building a decent community. Otz may be considered to go 'above and beyond' for those he clicks with, that's just not me. I'm sure there's more good content, too, I'm just not invested - it's not like I hate the guy.

Are there repercussions from stream sniping?

On topic - I dodge every TTV I see. I refuse to play. Doesn't matter the side.

There are on Twitch, at least.

Fair warning, that sequence of actions could be used as evidence of stream sniping even if that's not what you're doing - being on their watch list during the match, then commenting with the same name.

I guess I understand, but I'd maintain you don't have to put them on a pedestal. He is genuinely hysterical sometimes, and he freely admits that his opinions are just that. Opinions.

He also goes out of his way to share his knowledge all the time and probably single-handedly elevated several killers, myself included.

I mean, I guess I expect more than what I view as the bare minimum of community care from a content creator.

Not knocking anyone who finds enjoyment or insight in his videos, and I'm not saying much against him as a person - we just don't jive, and that's okay.

  • My beef with Otz reflects my beef with Monto. They're not people to hold up as principled, objective*, or more than moderately skilled - they're both fine entertainers, and I'm never going to say someone shouldn't enjoy them. Their cult followings leave a bitter taste in my mouth, and while I wish them success in game and as a brand, I'm simply not a fan.

*with the note that I don't think objectivity exists, the fandoms are the ones who push this about Otz. Tru3's thinking of himself as objective is another problem.

Streamers, in general, are fine as entertainment. Their use as examples are what turns me off from enjoying them or taking them seriously - but a video like this one is a stark exception, and one I'm glad to be wrong about in this case. Not hard data, but a genuine attempt to show a consistent trend is neat.

I think he's stronger than people give him credit for. His chains can get the job done if you know how to use them. He's also got really good game delay and map pressure. Fun to play as and against. Although, if me playing as him means I'm playing an NFT associate, then maybe I should reconsider that thought.

I agree he's very strong - and I was gifted a key, so I don't know how I feel having him in my roster.

I think the P-Heads are both the most balanced killers to come out, frankly, both with interesting twists on gameplay mechanics that don't interfere with externalized viability like Nurse does. I agree on every point, save an acknowledgement that survivors past a certain skill shelf are going to make using undamaging chains a 1 out of 3 or 4 value - Pinhead still breaking his own chains, or getting overeager, really hurts him when survivors can use it.

  • If we're talking narrative design, your list is basically upside-down, with some wibblies in the middle.

Honestly, though, I think the major 'balanced and healthy' one you got wrong is Cenobite. He's strong, can deal appropriate 1v4 and 1v1, his major issue is that Engineer's Fang is basically required to make him viable at all levels in an average player's hands - but even without, he's probably the healthiest release since Pyramid Head. Of course, the same can't be said for the actual DLC: I'm just talking about the matches that stay stable.

BHVR acknowledged that there's a problem with the Video Tape add-on: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/299

They just didn't disable it, and I agree with OP that they should disable it because letting players waste an iridescent add-on when you know it's broken is not a nice way to treat your playerbase.

Let me rephrase: "they're less likely to tangibly acknowledge it, meaning do something positive for a killer they actively ignore without outside impetus and a concurrent fix to roll out."

  • It's only negatively affecting Pig players. They're more likely to find a way to nerf Amanda's Letter than to fix or acknowledge a problem with Video Tape.

  • @Sabby said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2576627#Comment_2576627

Then what is the point if even making this addon if it does not kill them as they already get a 100% chance to remove if they hit all the boxes each box being 25% chance.

Yes. There is not a point until it gets fixed.

  • I'm boycotting, wallet-wise, and going to streamer communities to request they and their groups do the same.

  • Pips are based on emblems, not the kills/escapes in Escape-Based Matchmaking, which still are adjusted by how well you're doing by participating in the trial.

  • @BaldursGate2 said:

Wasn't a good solution. The letter should have no downsides. I mean, Wraith has no downsides, he is even super fast and with the silent bell, the slower uncloak speed doesn't matter in most maps. Pig is slow and with the letter she only has one trap, max 2 with an addon.

Sure, you can use the letter and the tape, so you have at least 4 survivors with traps. But the traps do not start pinging until a gen is done and i m pretty sure, people just remove the traps, because they know, you don't have anymore or max 1.

You can't use the letter with the tape. You'll end up with one survivor trapped at the beginning of the game, and no traps.

Let's be clear: the traps are being removed from Pig's inventory directly, sans scoring events. Go into a custom game as Pig with two survivor friends, and use the tape - you'll be down two traps, and have two in your inventory.

  • Empties your traps, plus it has an added nerf: doesn't kill them when the RBTs timer runs out.

  • He's also just plain out of place for Charlotte's skins, meaning the idea of getting her skins is kind of a non-starter.

  • Just has someone tell me over discord that she loaded in to a map despite all three other survivors disconnecting during the loading screen. Just her and a killer. This is wild.

Mass hysteria based on incomplete understanding of NFTs, inability to correctly comprehend tweets/text, unrealistic fear of Steam deleting DBD.

Many people complain about the environmental impact of NFTs, which is correct because NFTs use cryptocurrencies to work, and cryptocurrencies have high energy demand which mostly comes from coal plants. But this is a bit unfair, because I don't believe they were outraging when some companies started to accept e.g. Bitcoins.

You keep saying you never saw outrage at various things involving crypto - you really should start Googling, because you've been wrong every time.

  • @dbd900bach said:

"Another thing you could enable maps to be randomly selected instead of just choosing the exact map you want"

Random maps have already been added, so that's one check.

"The fact that for Perks, Items/Addons, and Offerings can only be enabled and disabled really limits how customizable Custom Game is. And again you can only enable or disable DLC killers

I so agree! Would be really nice to implement this, and just more settings in general so that it does feels more CUSTOM.

"Well, I think the easiest thing to improve customization would be allow the player to enable/disable the exact perk, item/addon, offering, and killer."

A good idea indeed, but would be time-consuming for some people. So maybe also add a way to disable perks, items, add-ons and offerings based on Rarity.

    Example:

    Ultra rare offerings = Disabled

Ultra and Very rare add-ons = Disabled

They're saying "Let us choose a smaller pool for the random selection"

As a response to the post - I'd honestly like an "Explore Mode" for us lonely people. Let us go around with an infinite flashlight and press a button to get developer commentary on parts of the game.

  • @funnyboy1548 said:

Just had a game where someone DC'ed instantly, which resulted in a 3v1... A bit surprising that nothing like this has been implemented yet.

A suggestion for a handicap could either be an increase to total blood points, or 1 less generator (which would be randomly selected)

This should only apply if someone DC'ed early on though (1-2 minutes maybe)

I feel like both of those could be abused by SWFs - which is a repeatable phrase liberally applied to most suggestions for improvements on the survivor side.

The current 'objective ratio' is 5 gens versus 12 hooks. If you were to delete a gen for a removed player, we're at 4 gens and 9 hook states - a little bit more survivor sided, since a proportionate ratio would be 4 gens to 9.6 hooks.

A SWF team could have a rotation of disconnects for farming gen progress or bloodpoints this way.

  • I would like a refund of auric cells, DLC value, and thousands of hours of my life.

    Not happening though, sadly

  • It's a theoretically effective strategy, but it's not a good strategy. Same with a hard proxy camp being situationally effective.

Both also run the chance of turning quickly into a proper loss, but the odds of finding that in 'new player' games is astronomically low.

I think you might have misinterpreted what I wrote and used my quotes outside of context to make arguments. I haven't been a "kiddo" in a couple of decades, but I'm just going to assume that's a term you use like people would use "dude" and not a patronizing/condescending term. 😃

I never insinuated people are just in their feelings. The just is an important adverb. People who are outraged that BHVR is supporting NFTs and believe NFTs are terrible have every reason to be upset. The people who are claiming that they were outright lied to are in their feelings, IMO. That was my insinuation. Outside of the good point you made on contractual obligations, my stance hasn't changed from my first post. Seeing that I'm pretty ignorant on the NFTs, I don't feel comfortable giving any opinions on them, but I will take everyone's word for it that they are environmentally damaging. Everyone has that hill that they are "willing to die on" so to speak. That line if a company crosses they can no longer support. NFTs aren't mine, but I respect anyone who has made that decision for themselves.

Agreed. Honestly, the older I get, the more capitalism disgusts me - but that's a longer and possibly political story, so I won't go there. Suffice to say, everyone has different things they can and cannot accept from the companies they purchase goods and services from. We need to understand that it is different for each person, and philosophically speaking it is incredibly difficult to normalize. My stance is: understand where your line is and let your money do your talking.

I'd also like to apologize for my initial reaction that was dripping in sarcasm. I think we agree on more than we disagree, but I also think we are both comfortable with our points of disagreement - and I hope we understand each other a bit better.

I say this with the utmost sincerity and no sarcasm whatsoever: Good luck in your boycott!

You're correct in your assessment of 'kiddo' - it's a bit of a tic when I write, even, and while I realize it sets some people off it's a surprisingly hard habit to break.

I disagree that you've not been insinuating people are just in their feelings, and yes - it's an important adverb. There's been a lot of defeatist rhetoric in what you're saying, much less in your recent responses, in line with but not the same as the people saying "Oh, you're quitting? See you next week."; including your repeated insistence that people weren't lied to. Was there a literal 'falsehood transmitted' lie? Not really. Was there a contextual and connotative lie, and were there lies of omission as per a fairly typical PR script? Absolutely. Is that enough for everyone to accept that there was a lie? Probably not, but that's not really my problem nor yours - it's a pretty individual experience.

I applaud and accept your apology, and offer my own for a second time - but hey, if we meet on the 'battlefield' again, know that I'll do so smiling as I do here, and I hope you can have a little fun should sparring happen.

Ok whatever, dude, I'm done trying to explain where your thinking is off. Me explaining why you're wrong doesn't mean I don't "comprehend" what you're saying.

You haven't explained why I'm wrong, because you've been arguing with a strawman.

My point is one of consistency, the Video Tape's 15 seconds per RBT at the beginning versus Corrupt Intervention's 2 minutes, one costing all your mid-late game slow and the other costing a perk slot.

Despite that 15 seconds potentially stretching to a half hour if the survivors play hide and seek, nothing beyond that 15 seconds is consistent. That is the end-all and be-all of my point, with anything else being superfluous. I wasn't making a judgement about good or bad, or declaring that 15 seconds was all you could gain, I was making a frank assessment of maximum consistence.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573843#Comment_2573843

Worst-case scenarios are not the be-all end-all of risk analysis. You need to know both the worst case value AND the probability of that worst case. For example, just making up numbers for the sake of argument, if your win percentage decreases by 20% in 1 out of 200 games using an add-on, but increases by 10% in 1 out of 3 games, then obviously the benefit to your win/loss ratio is completely outweighed by the benefit because it's much, much more likely even though the absolute risk of the worst case scenario is greater. Or in real life you don't avoid flying airplanes versus driving by car for a long trip, even though a plane crash is much more likely to be fatal than a car accident, because the probability of the plane crash is exponentially lower than the probability of you crashing your car.

Or on the flip side, it's silly to argue that Devour Hope is insanely overpowered because the "best case scenario" is that you get 5 tokens early on and kill everybody with your own hands. Yes, you can get 5 tokens and free kills with it, but the probability of it happening is low and the more likely scenario is you might get one exposed hit or two before the totem is destroyed or the game is over. It may be a good perk, it may be a bad perk, but it would be really dumb to only look at the most extreme possible case and conclude that's the most important thing about it.

That's why I'm telling you that you can't use your "worst case 15 seconds" number as a reliable measure of how good or bad that perk is. You can make other arguments for whether or not the perk is bad, and even argue whether it's good or bad using more realistic estimates (I estimated the average was about 40 seconds I believe earlier for instance.) But when you take that 15 second number blindly and just assume the worst for every game you're getting an incredibly inaccurate picture of things.

Again, if you ever bothered to comprehend what I wrote, you'd see I'm not claiming the worst-case is the end-all be-all. Your diatribe is a fine addition to the conversation, if overwrought, but it's not a counter to anything I've said.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573810#Comment_2573810

And what point am I ignoring? You tried to argue that the add-on is ineffective because the minimum guaranteed time per survivor is about 15 seconds. I countered that it's foolish to give much weight to a 1/256 scenario. To which you're saying I'm ignoring what you said and arguing in bad faith.

How about this, why exactly are you using the bare possible minimum value for your estimate? One that happens only one in four times per survivor at most and which requires them to find the box right away. Why do you think that your 15 second estimate is more accurate than the method I suggested to estimate?

I said that the add-on is inconsistent - an incontrovertible truth when it comes to RBTs, and thus the new Video Tape, at best. You 'countered' that the numbers you used (which are contextually relevant and correct in your argument) are going to be a more typical experience. You're right, it's just not relevant.

Worst-case scenarios are how to evaluate a risk-cost assessment, only later tempered by best-case and average scenarios to find what someone is willing to deal with.

I agree that NFTs are absolutely horrible and a scam, but they're not a ponzi scheme; a currency doesn't have to take up resources to have value, therefore an NFT has legitimate value (however small) and a ponzi scheme is not possible. If it was, money itself would be a scam.

It's possible, however, and very prevalent to basically mass produce extremely similar NFTs at no cost and completely nosedive the price of the bought NFT's value, completely screwing over consumers and keeping all the profit. This is why it's a broad scam: investors aren't being tricked into investing by being promised profit, consumers just straight-up get scammed by giving away money like idiots, wasting energy/resources, and losing most if not all public credibility.

NFTs and crypto aren't real currency, and NFTs do not have legitimate value.

    @fogdonkey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2573739#Comment_2573739

I don't agree, because nothing in Bitcoin says "buy me and you will get more value back" or something similar.

There are people speculating that their value will go up. There may be companies selling Bitcoins with fake promises of their value going up. But it is not Bitcoin's fault.

Based on your logic everything is a scam, because e.g. someone can create a scammy business selling that thing.

Everything can be a scam. Not everything is. Crypto is just a scam skirting a long documented history of backing being a limiting factor by deluding people into thinking it's not needed.

The entire selling model for Bitcoin and crypto is that promise of value - saying any different is just proof positive of bad faith.

In Ponzi scheme the organizer claims that the profit comes from a legitimate business (which is in reality fake or makes no profit).

So what is the fake business in Bitcoin? Isn't it obvious that it has some value, because people believe it has value? Buying Bitcoin because you think their value will go up is speculation, but not a Ponzi scheme.

The fake business is Bitcoin itself. No, it doesn't have value, and the lie that people tell themselves that it has value is just part of the ponzi scheme, not a miraculously self-evident fiat currency.
