Had a game the other day on 2v8 where a sable sandbagged her whole team by racing around the map tossing every pallet she could find. We killed her... one of her teammates even t bagged on her real quick when she went down...but by that point, the game was ruined. Her team was royally screwed.
Me and my teammate felt bad, so we let everyone still living finish up and go. The last survivor turns out scoured the map for chests and left a treasure hoard on a hill as an offering before dying to EGC. Those "moments" are pretty great.
that just sounds like a new player. I also don't think the survivors would have given you the same mercy if your teammates was afk or getting looped.

Just a thought I had that I was hoping for your thoughts on. It has nothing to do with balance or anything but... Do you feel like it's just a less stressful experience on 2v8 for killers? Like if you lose in 2v8, it just feels easier to shrug it off than a lose in 1v4 IMO. Does anyone else feel the same?
How are you stressing in 2v8? i've found it rather refreshing to not have to worry about certain perks from both sides and not to mention the fun factor of playing killer with a friend. 1v4 is only really stressful if you let it be. No matter what anyone says, you don't have to win all your games, and honestly you will lose some no matter what. So just don't worry if you win or lose play the game for fun and enjoyment not to stress yourself out.

There are differences in the game between "time for yourself by adding up the survivor" and between "you doing this from the very beginning of the trial"
You're still going to bleedout in ~5 mins so just tab out if you don't wanna deal with it

This is the survivor equivalent of the other survivor is stealing my unhooks/working on the gen with me.

The 2v8 game mode was a fail due the insanely long queues for killers.
Some people state that the reason is because it is a killer sided mode, but I think the reason is because it is the first time we can play killer with a friend, a breath of fresh air.
Easier to find 1 other friend than 3 other friends to play with. I enjoyed playing both sides, i think the proper way to go about it is to give a big boost to survivor bloodpoints. I had more fun in 2v8 solo and with a friend as killer and survivor than i have in the regular game mode in a long while. A few adjustments to it and it would be great.

Not a massive fan of the change to where cosmetics are as it's in a weird spot preferred the old cosmetic button but the store overhaul was decent. Can at least see all the new/recent stuff.
-
Lights out was pretty terrible in general. Was only really decent as killer, trying to play as survivor felt really bad, i don't think the classes from 2v8 would really help that. you'd still get downed and camped more than likely.

BHVR, you need to remake the game. I say remake because I imagine DBD2 youd need to renegotiate all the licences again.
This spaget code is getting insane. Things are breaking in insane ways now. Even a health chapter wouldnt help at this point.
It would be a huge job, but in the long run it would be worth it. I get little bugs, but how do we end up with things like 2 gens being done at once….
An addon on one killer gets adjusted, and it breaks something completely different. The way everything is connected is so odd.
This had been the case from the beginning years and years ago. It was way worse then, back then there were no kill switches and you had to deal with bug exploits.

I agree, it's an issue and does need addressing. The problem is how do we define "excessive" slugging versus just pressuring for a down, or accidentally downing the same person, or any other sort of pressure downing this way?
Probably leaving people on the ground for multiple minutes or downing multiple people. I think a Recover fully when on the ground for longer than x amount of time would suffice in all cases. That's usually a bigger issue than downing multiple people but would combat both.
-
A lot more anniversary offerings on all my killers than I expected, around 60 on a few and over 100 on most. Felt like i slacked a little on survivor though only got around 100 offerings/items on 1 character and 60 on another.
-
I've had it happen maybe 8-10 times total in the past 2 years. Could have been internet issues a couple times but some were just server disconnects. I wouldn't think it's cheater thing but could be as when it's happened it was when i was doing pretty well early as killer. Again though could have been server issues affecting everyone in the match but not affected the killer yet. Also had someone super confused at the start of the event because 3 people dced early because i was playing skull merchant and they were so bewildered that they would dc because of a killer.

I think most of the PC player base is 18+ but console player base may be under it. I'm still surprised plague was added with the puking effects as that can trigger people to throw up/feel sick.

Gen rushing is also ignoring other game points of interest and "tunneling" the gen. IE leaving someone on hook to stay on the gen, ignoring healing and staying injured or doing a gen in the killers face even if it means you go down. You're essentially ignoring everything but rushing your objective. The same as the killer ignoring everyone and everything but their primary target they want to remove.
So doing a gen in the killers face to me is the same exact thing as the killer ignoring everything and everything to chase one person out till they're removed. Both just rushing their objective.
had this exact thing happen in a game last night, was playing billy downed this mikaela hooked her went after someone and as soon as she got unhooked my discordance popped so i chainsaw back to this gen that's a tile away and smack her down because why not at least heal or run if you can still hear the heartbeat.

Not optimistic about Midwich, who asked for this?
I don't think it's too fun for either side. Somewhat annoying to get to the second floor at times, breakable walls are terrible (not as bad as dead dawg but still not great), The pallet loops can't really be mind-gamed well and most are similar run around the tables/amalgamation pile, exits are easy to defend. Now i'm not sure how they could change it to make it better but we'll see.

Yeah, unfortunately more stuff you add into the game, more difficult It becomes to balance everything... This is another thing to put into the equation
I mean the simple solution would be to stop adding perks or stop adding so many problem perks. I guess you can see the trend with most new stuff released anymore as they are good in a sense but require so wild prerequisite to activate. for instance most of sables perks, unknowns perks, the bard perks, Vecna's perks, lara's perks (may be changed but most look very low to mid tier). They're not "bad" but not "good" either compared to a lot of other perks. You could probably go back this past year or 2 and see most of the perks are niche use cases or require another perk to make pretty good (only outlier i can think of would be knights No where to hide or pre-nerf Made for this).
-
Not really tunneling as it's basically having tunnel vision for one survivor and only going after them. If they go out of their way to interrupt your current chase or cross paths after having plenty of time to run away it's not your fault for trying to take advantage of it.
-
I think most issues have been getting worse with addition of certain perks and map design. With perks there are quite a few, most aura reading perks make stealth nearly impossible for survivors. Others are slowdowns and speed up perks on both sides. Personally i don't think gen speeds should be sped up by any perk and should be sped up only if multiple people are working on the same gen. On the opposite of that things like Pop and pain res really destroy gen progress especially when paired together. Map design is not great. You have massive maps like eyrie of crows and red forest while most new/reworked maps are relatively small and have a gimmick.
-
Depends on the killer. General staples i usually have are: 1 slowdown (Pop or pain res typically), 1 aura reading (no where to hide), other 2 are flexible depending on killer like: friends till the end, discordance, lethal pursuer, bamboozle, franklins+weave attunement if a lot of items are brought. Depends what you want these are just some examples you could slot in any perks you like really i just think having 1 slowdown and 1 aura reading helps a lot in general.

I am pretty sure that I am not alone who can agree that Rift needs to be infinite. What's the point of these Rift Fragments from event if we cant spend or use it? Would be cool if after completing the "main rift", rift could continue permanently and give at least bloodpoints, and maybe once every 10 levels it can give some Iridescent Shards.
Would be nice but i think the amount would have to be low. Maybe like 10k blood points and 10 iri shards a level.

Absolutely. Most of the time.... They weren't working on winning anyhow. Nobody on gens, some just hiding etc. my level of killer I go against have gone up while the level of my team mates have gone down. It's like a sick joke
That's a poor way to look at it. How can you tell how things are going early on? I've had many games where it looked like it was going no where only for it to become one of the better games i played that day. I don't think you should play the game if you don't intend to play regardless of what other players are doing.

Tombstone addons for Myers one of the most debatable because you can kill survivors without a hook. I actually like this addons cause they are unique and actually became a remember that you still play a horror game. The main problem is Tombstone piece feels overpowered and Judith feels underpowered. So this is my solution for them
Tombstone piece:
Nerf: You can kill only one survivor
Nerf: After mori you locked in tier 2 till the match end
Judith's Tombstone
Buff: Reduse speed penalty for 6% (from 9)
Buff: Now Myers can kill survivors in the lockers
Quality of Life: Unique animation for killing survivors in the locker . Survivors that being killed in the locker stay in them and living survivors cannot use this lockers to hide.
I think the best option is to remove tombstone piece and make tombstone do what tombstone piece does and make the achievement to kill 1 person not all 4.

Iri Queen typically works. Shock them, hook them in a corner go to the other corner and wait.

I had ~130K as killer while survivors had 30-40K.
But its x4 survivors, means they earned ~150K in total so its fair I guess.
Survivor point gains are abysmal compared to killer. They've gotten better over the years but are still pretty trash. big reason as killer you're scoring in all 4 categories, survivors only really score in 2-3 depending what they're doing and 1 you only get a lot if you escape.
-
So you're saying ruin 4 other peoples game because you don't want to play it? Why did you ready up to play if you didn't want to play the match? I have only left a handful of matches in the past couple years when i've played survivor regardless of what's happening whether it's being tunneled or slugged or camped. I never leave killer matches as it's just a skill issue on my part if i can't combat what survivors do or bring.
-
For killer i'm at like 60-100 cakes on each killer now. 220-240 each on 1 survivor around 80 each on another.

Even with calm spirit? Because in chase I was completely fine and was able to vault pallets and windows when he was shocking. Yet when I tried to unhook, it showed a red symbol in the corner stopping me. Either way I shouldn't need a perk to counter this as it's completely dumb. I bring calm spirit for this situation specifically and it's not stopped me from unhooking before unless it was suppose to then.
calm spirit just prevents you from screaming, you still get the effects from doctors shock.
-
@MissJupiter said:
You guys add anti-camp to the game which is great. But certain killers like the doctor can camp very easily. I was using calm spirit and the killer still prevented me from unhooking someone due to an addon. There's no counter to this other than 'just doing gens and let them die' but that isn't a solution. It's an extremely boring to play against and shouldn't be in the game.
if you get zapped by his power it makes it so you can't interact with anything. I don't think the iri add-on does it.

The event just emphasizes. As someone whose played this game for 6 years we need to recognize how the game defaults to the idea that a killer will face a SWF mfybmmmevery match when I'm reality, most games are randos. BHVR either needs to allow VC or internal communications or stop assuming every match is SWF. THIS EVENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FUN BUT IT'S BEEN A NIGHTMARE. I'll elaborate more if you want ((which the community will because it's clearly my fault and not the devs or killer or leaders fault it is mine)). But the event is just the tip off of how the dev and game design really thinks every survivors team is SWF. Try solo Q and understand the ABSOLUTLY FRUSTRATION dev team. It's awful. Rebalance THIS GAME
The game isn't meant to be balanced. It's supposed to be killer sided but i believe the issue began to stem when they started adding 3 perks per new character added and certain perks for both sides definitely have caused a lot of unfun times. Another big issue is map design, i feel no one wants to deal with certain maps depending which role you play but they've been making them smaller when maps are reworked most of the time. I mean look at haddonfield now it's very tiny compared to what it was. You're also playing a game where someone has to lose (most of the time being survivors) and no one wants to deal with that.

After rewatching the 2010 elm street I realized the micro sleep mechanic and survivors being able to see and be attacked by Freddy while awake is actually accurate to the movie, but seemingly only the 2010 movie. Later in the movie the main characters begin having "Micro Naps" which allowed Freddy to mess with them and hurt them even though they were awake and they only saw him intermittently which also happens currently in dbd, so Bhvr didn't make him not accurate to the movie, Freddy isn't visible while awake and he isn't just outside the dream world he's only visible and able to attack survivors because the survivors aren't fully awake and are having "Micro Naps" which in dbd is the mechanic Micro Sleep. Does this make Freddy less boring? No, but I still find it neat
i mean he used to actually pull you into the dream with his power and you couldn't hit anyone till they were in the dream state. It took like 5-6 seconds to do it.

It's a game and no one wants to be the loser. Some people can't accept that and get tilted/angry and say things. I can understand the annoyance of playing survivor and getting tunneled, it's why you see people running tons and tons of anti-tunnel now. On the opposite end, Generators will fly if survivors do them which is why you see lots and lots of slowdown now from killers. The toxicity is just a side effect of be annoyed by seeing the same 3-4 killers every game with the same perk set ups and tunneling. On the opposite side it's gen speeds, flashlights, harassing killers in endgame for whatever reason, and dealing with certain perks/map offerings constantly.
Not saying it's right but that's the state of the game because of the "meta" currently. -
I'll buy her for the perks/achievements. I don't really think i'll play her much though. licensed character skins are expensive :(

I would think getting tomb raider would be a big deal, it's a iconic series, and Lara is probably the most famous female protagonist in gaming.
I'm surprised they kinda just dropped her with no fanfare. No trailers, teasers or anything. It was just "Oh we added Lara in this PTB" The leak and thr accidentally published early Eurogamer article basically carried the hype.
I dunno, I just feel the lack of fanfare and marketing for such a prolific character and franchise is strange and that it deserves more. It also raises concerns about if Lara will be dumped into the live version with a few outfits and forgotten about after.
People will play her, it's just a survivor though so it's not really game changing. The perks are kind of mediocre as well so not a ton to really get hyped about with it. outfits depend on the license owner but she'll probably have a good few.

Anti-tunnel perks > Chase perks. Anti-tunneling perks can extend your chase quite a bit compared to a faster window vault.

No wonder this game will never make E sports.
i mean it will never make e-sports because that's not what it is. just play normal if the event is too hard for you.
-
if you look at the tier 1 and 2 challenges you can tell they've been dropped by a lot already. The first challenge was 3 million invites collected and they lowered it to 1.65mil because the community was around 1.5mil. I think the others in the first were also a couple million each but were lowered so we could complete them. It's not the amount that's the issue it's having to have that challenge selected to progress it that is and why it takes so long for high numbers.

He’s very outdated and poorly designed.
Tombstone Piece makes him broken but without it he’s arguably bottom 3.
He needs to lose his Insta-kill add ons and have some more power shifted into his base kit.
His point gain is also really low compared to other insta-down killers like ghostface. i'm not sure you could max deviousness without perks to increase point gain or 4k bonus. Add-on rework and power touch ups could do wonders but i don't think he'll be above mid-tier or even lower mid-tier.
-
@Qued said:
Maybe it's time that survivor's materials respawned as well like pallets or maybe even the generators you complete them and then after a few seconds they stop and you can repair it again.
I feel like the point missed here is hooks being down causes dead zones for killers who can't hook people in corners or on a different level of an area. It doesn't affect anything out of the normal aside from people can't exploit the hooks not being there. Having pallets respawn could extend chases and generators just makes it a matter of time before survivors do the same gen or 2 and escape.
-
It hasn't really changed much. I still play somewhat the same, mainly solo survivor or killer. I usually look around here to see if anything new has happened or bugs have come up or to talk about this or that issue.
-
I rarely spare anyone. Usually leads to getting flamed in endgame chat because of dc or whatever reason. I mean i've gotten flamed for being nice and letting people go too so i see no difference in letting 1 go or killing them anymore, just more points for me if i kill them all.

Sometimes the DBD community frustrates me with how quick they are to flip out over something that seems big but with 2 seconds of thinking makes you realize that it's not ever that serious.
I've been seeing folks all over Twitter, Tiktok, YouTube comments, etc, complaining about how in the next update, hooks after survivors are sacrificed on them will respawn after 60 seconds, discussing how it's a bad idea and how "unfair" it is. First off, I'm a survivor main. I believe that the game right now is steering ALOT towards the killer side and solo queue is at its worst. But sometimes I feel like all you survivor mains see is "random basekit killer buff" and are automatically up in arms about it when sometimes these buffs once again are nothing if you really sit and think about it for 2 seconds.
When as a survivor have you ever gotten CONSISTENT value off of a hook that is broken due to it being used after sacrificing a survivor? I bet you can only count on 1 hand. It's something that RARELY happens. Plus even then, Hooks are SO close to each other now that it doesn't really matter if a certain hook is broken. They'll just take you to the next one. For you to get value off of a broken hook, you would need to…
- Run and get downed (IF YOU CAN) around that hook
- Have the killer sacrifice everyone in the nearby hooks, making any nearby hook broken, giving the killer no chance to hook you OR have someone sabotage a hook nearby (Not a common occurrence btw)
- Pray the killer even picks you up because at that point, they can and will just slug you if need be.
All of these hypothetical scenarios happening in every match is a very small chance. And even then, if ALL of this was to happen, there's a even SMALLER chance these scenarios will help you win a match. There's so many variables that usually never happen in most games that makes you wonder why respawn hooks are even such a big deal.
Second, killers don't HAVE to hook you to kill you. There's slugging and Memento Moris, both can be achieved via perks meaning they can get guaranteed value almost every game. If killers can already kill you without hooks, then what makes a difference if they're able to?
The whole discussion of just saying "Hook respawn bad" with not actually counter argument just doesn't make any sense. What also doesn't make any sense is the "pick me" killer mains who go "I'm a killer main and this is bad" this is a buff. Hell this ain't even a buff more like a QoL change but even then, why yall as killer even saying this? If you played killer you know that hook respawns are inconvenient as hell. Why would you be okay with the opposite? It's very good QoL on certain maps that are multi-level. It negates dead zones that killers have. Like you said the chance of this stuff happening are uncommon but this will help alleviate those issues and encourage less "run to the corner without a hook around" play by some survivors.

My teammates continue to kill themselves on hook whenever they verse him, and I'm a solo queue player so this obviously is annoying to deal with, that and having to deal with engravings that make overdrive miserable to deal with.
Hillbilly has been so common for me and I just want normal matches where people don't kill themselves on hook, people are treating him like Skull Merchant where they want nothing to do with him, and when I play him the amount of salt I get is pretty surprising, I thought people like playing against him? I'm guessing his buffs made him too much for some?
People I've encountered say he's the new "Blight", or that they will instantly kill themselves on hook whenever they see a Hillbilly, I myself won't go to that level, but he can be quite difficult to deal with, but I do enjoy chases with him from time to time.
What are your thoughts on him, is anyone else having similar experiences?
I'm not really sure if it's just hillbilly. I see it on any killer almost now. Seems like every other game someone suicides on 1st hook or disconnects because of the killer or they were first down. Notice it a lot playing as survivor and a lot as killer anymore.

The reason I didn't say Ruin is because I didn't know it was part of the meta plus I think I had a white noise moment where my brain forgot it. Overall Ruin isn't bad it's not good but it's bad since it rely a bit on RNG since you can get a nice middle finger from the Entity with it spawing out in the open.
you also forgot grim embrace and corrupt intervention.

The forgotten status effect only accessible through Knock Out, Flashbangs and that one Hag add-on none of which is used particularly often. It is perhaps so unused that it's the only status effect that doesn't show up in the HUD when it comes up.
When are peoples thoughts on this status effect? For those that don't know it gives you a tinnitus sort of sound and dramatically lowers the volume of everything else around you.
Personally I would make the tinnitus sound go away because it's extremely annoying and as someone with chronic tinnitus I don't wish that sound on anyone. But the noise dampening portion of the effect could have interesting applications on perks. For example it would be interesting if Wraith had access to it and it could throw off how close people think he is if people couldn't hear his bell as well, just look how good the bone clapper add-on is. Twins might also enjoy it to make it harder to hear Victor coming, there's more examples but that's just to point out it could have it's uses. You could also give survivors more access to it and it could help them lose the killer if they're injured, some people might not like it but iron will plus a new deafened perk could being back old iron will.
I think because it's not super useful and hard to implement well with stuff aside from what you listed. If i remember right it completely removed sound or something before and was changed.

So I constantly see pain res and pop in ever match because their part of the meta...what about the other perks that I won't lie have some potential.
Surge/Jolt: Good information perk as you will know if someone is repairing a gen while you down someone plus it stacks and also you don't need to do anything other the down a survivor.
Oppression: I'm surprised barely any one uses it. "It's because it takes 80 seconds to recharge." I won't lie that's a nice cool down for a perk that kicks 3 gens at once and adds to it if someone fails a skill check.
Eruption: basically Jolt...but a bit better effects all gens you kick and you don't have to be anywhere near by the gen for it to go boom. Plus aura reading. With a 30 second cool down.
Call of brine: It regresses gen really quickly for a full minute. Plus it also gives notification if someone wants to go ahead and poke it again while the perk is still active.
This is coming from someone who plays survivor a lot these perks I never see used maybe Overcharge once in a blue moon but all the others just nothing.
"Because Pop allows you to take a lot of regression away." Some of those perks do also not in one go but still.
"Pain Res allows you to know where the gen is located and regresses a lot at the same time." Okay but you have four tokens once those are gone boom perks useless plus if a survivor just doesn't touch the gen you don't get a notification.
So I don't know why those perks are slept on is it the cool down length or just the fact that you would rather have the most progressed gen destroyed? I don't use the meta because I want survivors to have a taste of something different I hate using Pop and Pain Res because I don't like using the meta since mixing and matching is fun and allows you to experiment with things.
Surge is used but has been nerfed a little so it's not as good as pop or pain res. The other perks are just kind of bad either require too much, don't do enough, or take too long for cd. Also it's about perk synergies. Pop also works with no where to hide so you get double the value for kicking.

Your on death hook so you know there's a mori coming your way the quick thing like what Pyramid head has but no your instead picked up and hooked. So it confuses me why not mori the person with the hand or eye it's a quick kill and saves a lot of time. I would more expect it when Vecna first came out because not many people knew but he's been out for a while so why do people still not do it? As far as I know it's not toxic because well it still requires you get the person to death hook and they need the item on them.
Perks probably. You lose your obsession perk or you don't get bbq&c. Some people may not know still though.
