  • There will always be lesser desired perks. Most perks have a niche or synergize with others. Problem with the meta is it's hard to say not to run a specific perk like say windows or an exhaust perk when they help way too much. Perks have been buffed but they still won't be used over the meta because they don't provide enough value.

For the map + boil over abuse, that i talk about, there are no option but to stand and watch them bleed a full bar, or let everyone escape.

there's no map where that's necessary anymore though so i don't see that as a reason.

No… there are games where the killers have no choice but to slug people over and over, not long ago a video with a streamer that had this issue was posted on these forums.

I have also had SWFs that abuse map offerings with certain maps + boil over, the only way to kill them was to bleed them out, because they found a spot where the killer had no chance to get them to a hook, and they would run there every chase.

I play killer most of the time probably 90% and i know what you're saying. With that said i think slugging is unnecessary a lot of the time and if someone bleeds out for 1/3 of their bar in one down it seems a bit excessive.

It has only looked good on one or two skins since it was introduced, and honestly, it's a downgrade because almost all skins look better in their original colors. I think just about any other color would be an improvement at this point.

I think it's just supposed to be a status symbol of you did the pass instead of just bought a cosmetic. Different colors matching tome theme would be pretty nice though people wouldn't be happy because Fomo.

    @Feneroe said:

I agree with changing the color, but for the opposite reason. I like the blue color and hate that it's being used for skins that won't ever be able to be gotten again. I'd rather them change it to a color I didn't like (or just stop with the deep rift skins because fomo is stupid).

I think the reason they did the Deep rift outfits was to specifically give people who played at that time a reward for finishing i do agree with the FOMO is dumb thing though.

i use this old magic very rare so listen carefully…. i check their profiles.

Why? Does it actually matter that much to you if they were SWF? I mean if you're gonna come at me passive aggressively maybe learn to play better.

  • 85 or 86. Only really played at the beginning, for the 2v8, for dracula chapter, for lights out, and a couple days recently to get all the rewards.

  • I mean your first like 3 dcs are super short, you gotta be rage quitting or something to rack up a 6 hour penalty. I don't think i've ever had longer than a 5 minute dc penalty ever.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The only thing I could think of is basekit Unbreakable after 48 seconds w/ Endurance, and that could prove problematic. I don't think legitimate reasons to slug for 48+ seconds happen very often. Slugging for a 4k is a waste of everyone's time and nobody is throwing a parade for a 4k in a public match.

Base Unbreakable alone won't actually address the problematic instances slugging, because it's usually griefers who are slugging heavily for extended periods of time. They'd just keep downing the player until they bled out even with base Unbreakable.

Sometimes you have to slug. Especially in a close 3v1, it's often the correct play. But I can't remember the last time it was tactically necessary to slug players to bleed out. It's a playstyle the game doesn't need.

typically just a display of dominance i guess. Some killers force bleedouts because they're being toxic or tilted by stuff that happened.

  • i think 2 recoveries would be fine at most in a game which is why i said every third of bleedout timer. That's already a good chunk of time on the floor. Alternatively x amount of time on the ground similar to the anti-facecamp mechanic.

    (Screenshot from Chaos Shuffle.)

Slugging in DBD is the act of leaving Survivors on the ground for a prolonged period of time.

Slugging, in nature, is not necessarily malicious (in most cases), there could be many reasons to slug a Survivor, rather it be to gain pressure on Survivors grouping up or to try and prevent a flashlight save. This being said, slugging can also be used in ways to waste players' time, which normally involves leaving Survivors slugged until they bleed out.

In about 1-5% of my Survivor games, slugging is used maliciously to waste the time of players. In about 10-15% of my games, slugging is used minimally; and in the rest of my games occur normally where no slugging occurs for a notable amount of time.

I dont deal with Killers that bleed me out often, but it DOES happen, and whenever it does happen, it feels awful since Im effectively held within a match that should be over but isnt because the Killer decided that losing normally just wasnt good enough for us.

To which I ask, is this a huge enough issue to warrant basekit changes? What approach should be used to "fix" this if it is an issue?

perhaps a free recover after one third of bleeding out or a set amount of time on the ground?

  • Any 110% is going to be average at best for new players. Also doctor, legion, and bubba are pretty easy to learn killers, wesker is probably a tier or 2 too high. I wouldn't put nurse in the bottom tier, probably complicated as if you learn her you'll just win. Blight also would probably be in the complicated tier.

  • How do you know it was a 4-man SWF? I rarely see 4-mans usually 2-3 leaning more towards 2. If you want to play as killer and guarantee you do well you need to run certain perks and killers. Running someone like trapper or legion will probably not go great if the survivors are bringing their A game.

She's not even going to be like Trapper or Hag anymore when the patch releases, because they're killing the trap playstyle stone-dead

Now she just plays like worse Clown

She is still a zoning killer but maybe the worst now. Still drops her drone to try to zone off an area but it's not really effective now.

No matter how strong she is, most people who play this killer play it in a very boring way, as the chase is supposed to be the most fun part of the game.

Just throw the drone and this survivor can't do anything. What a great design.

That's the ability basically. You want people scanned/trapped and to shorten loops/zone off areas. It's not good i agree, but neither was the old playstyle off 3-4 genning with drone zones.

none of those are particularly survivor sized so it’s not really a concern.

Personally if it’s anything like me I’ve been using map offerings because if I don’t I only seem to get cold wind or ormond and I’m sick of them.

They are pretty survivor sided. Eyrie is pretty big with some bad loops depending on killer, Garden of joy is arguably the most survivor sided map in the game, and autohaven is pretty bad with the tall walls.

I don't have an issue usually with these but i don't want to see them 10+ times in a row.

  • I mean she's going to be extremely useless after these changes, you probably won't see anyone playing skull merchant. She's a zoning killer with chase pressure. It's not super different than trapper or hag trapping a loop or something to counter it.

  • I mean you're going to deal with pc player either way, i mean probably 90% of my games have 2 or more players who aren't on steam so high chance they're console players. I don't really get where this cheaters running rampant thing is coming from either, they really are not that common. I've seen maybe 10 in 3700 hours.

  • I mean you obviously haven't had little rat survivors running into upstairs rooms while running boil over before these hooks were added.

I'm pretty annoyed about how the game is handling language and cultural references. It's not cool to use folklore and traditions without giving credit where it's due. The latest chapter with "Vlad the Impaler" (Vlad Țepeș) is a good example of this. I was really hoping the game would give a shoutout to the Romanian language, especially since it's gaining popularity in Romania. It's frustrating that they're not showing some respect to the cultures they're drawing from. The game is pretty straightforward yeah but with hundreds of mechanisms and perks present in the game , as a person not knowing the English language could very much take the "privilege" to play the game. Me included

you know the last chapter was taken from a show/game right? It's not taken from the traditional dracula stories.

  • That just sounds like dstrike in item form.

  • I have definitely noticed a lot more survivors burning map offerings, notably: eyrie, autohaven, and withered isle. I usually only burn bp offerings as i have a lot of anniversary cakes. I don't really mind map offerings till it's the same ones over and over. I think i played about 15 games the other night and probably 10-12 had those map offerings.

  • You're not gonna get a decent zone control killer that won't also garner DCs. There's only trapper and hag that are zone control killers and skull merchants power design is stronger than both giving a lot of good things like haste, hindering survivors, free injures, intel. Her only weakness is if people play the drone game and her map presence is lacking on big maps which is the case with a lot of killers though to be fair.

I've been thinking about this for a while and came up with a theory about why so many people quit at the slightest inconvenience, an epidemic that pains me to say has stopped me from playing.

I just want to test this idea with everyone and see if anyone agrees.

I think it's the burnout of course, but why? It has to be slightly more than that and my idea is the combination of Perk Changes and MMR.

    Let me explain:

You see, if you were a good player because of your perks - and let's be honest - everyone is helped by them - you won 🏆 a lot!

As a result, your MMR kept increasing of course. But, when your perks got nerfed, your mmr didn't change.

In order not to make this too long, my point is perhaps way too many players are in an mmr they should no longer be in but because it's so hard to drop now, they are stuck.

I think this also leads to "hot takes" with each side demanding perks be buffed and nerfed long after they've been available.

What do you think? Am I onto something or way off base?

    Again, please be respectful 🙏

I'm a Freddy Killer main and a Nancy Survivor main. I played both roles until this new trend just made me say enough is enough and I'd like to see it significantly be reduced.

    Thank you 😊 🙏

I think there's a few reasons but I don't think it's a perk issue mainly. i think specific killers, notably Skull merchant, Nurse, Blight, etc. No one wants to play an uphill battle or against something extremely annoying. I also think another big factor is people being very tilted from previous games or just don't like losing so being first down/first found increases the frustration and people just leave.

  • Twins is probably the worst for me. I rarely see them but when i do they all typically play the same, just slugging with victor. On top of that most people see them so rarely they don't know how to play against them. I could probably count on one hand how many times i've played against twins in the past year and all have been the same victor slugfests.

oh I see so that's the state of the game right now? survivors cry and whine about something so the devs just ruin the whole bundle, Good to know, Won't be bothering with future dlc if it means money can be spent down the drain because some crybabies can't read what abilities does.

i mean to be fair she's pretty oppressive if people aren't doing the drone minigame. I don't really think there's an easy way to balance a zoning killer though. They either have some oppressive nature like hags basement camping ability from anywhere, or just aren't super great like trapper.

  • @Atom7k said:

I think we all know the feeling when we see the killer picking a map. It is the same feeling killers get when seeing offerings for survivor sided maps.
In my early days I thought it was a tool to see more maps because the matchmaking doesn't feel very versatile sometimes.
Right now it feels more like a war. If I pick a map as killer half the matches never start because someone dc'ed. If I deny the survivor map offering with Sacrificial Ward some dc too. If we get on the killer map we get destroyed. If we go to the survivor map the killer has a hard time.

I started to bring a Sacrificial Ward into every match because I am so tired of this. Especially flash light specialist seem to love to bring an offering. The matches where no map offerings are brought are very rare lately and it never is a neutral map its always either a heavily survivor sided map or a map that's really benefitial for the killer.

So overall …. nobody really likes map offerings, well at least if youre not on the side who brought it.
Reworking the problematic maps could be a way but honestly im not the biggest fan of it because chaos is good for a game and rng cannot be flat and fair all the time. On the other hand removing map offerings from the game does sound extreme.

So is there something we can do?

I don't really care if people burn map offerings but it's always autohaven, withered isle, ormond, or eyrie offerings when i'm playing killer. Very little variation from those 4. In my past 20 or so games i see a map offering for one of those about 70-80% of the time, actually was debating on burning sacrificial wards.

Are those skull Merchant changes some april fools joke or a meme or something?

what about them? People don't like playing against her so they're nerfing her into the ground.

  • isn't that the point of random perks though?

    @Royval said:

please just remove the perk not even trolling it’s getting to the point I don’t wanna play the mode.

  • who really knows, they seem to tip-toe around this bloodpoint bonuses thing. Similar to why they removed it from were gonna live forever/bbq&c. Then they change the incentive modifier now but then do bloodhunts that give 300-400% bloodpoints and anniversary event that gives a ton of cakes. More surprised they're keeping the free mori on last survivor.

  • There's not really a good way to go about changing her without making her really weak or really annoying the play against. It's just a flaw with her power and design, any zoning killer will be awful to play against or be absolute trash. I mean look at hag and trapper, trapper is weak and hag is just annoying and can camp basement at ease.

  • maps can only have a certain amount of pallets, also maps can have extremely poor random generation at times that leaves 1/3 the map a deadzone but makes pallets spawn other places like crazy.

  • @angel_pellegrino said:

I don't think some people quite understand that a ton of people adopting the meanest, nastiest attitudes in a fandom are the cancer that eats a fandom up. It takes something that should be enjoyable and fun, and turns it into a toxic energy drain that people walk away from. And know some of you are already going "Well, play something else, a hole!" But let me put it to you this way, not only does toxicity drive current players away, it also keeps newer players from wanting to play as well. Eventually, what you end up with is brutal, miserable gameplay and a lot more players remaining who do things like dc, either because the game has become virtually unplayable or because they no longer care, are toxic themselves, etc.

Dead By Daylight does not HAVE to be a game that makes a person feel miserable playing, with nasty, frustrating matches that build up one after another until somebody quits, it's been made to be that way. Some issues are simply outside of one player's ability to control. And until that's understood and dealt with, nothing is ever going to change.

Toxicity is a product of the game loop of the game. You are constantly needing to focus and having an opposing force that you sometimes are powerless to. No one likes losing and this game is pretty bad with that.

I will say a big issue for new players is learning to loop or to play killer effectively. I've seen multiple times friends trying it out getting very disheartened because of how difficult it is to learn killers/maps/looping. Not to mention the price tag as i would say you almost need some of the dlc perks to play more efficient. It's just a big time commitment to learn things if you haven't been playing so it will deter a lot of people.

  • @MrMori said:

DBD mobile has a shared inventory. We could for sure have shared items and addons for survivors, and offerings for killers and survivors.

Although nobody would run out of anniversary cakes ever again so players would on average get far more bloodpoints, and I think BHVR don't want that. Only reason I can see not to do it.

I mean you only really need 1 survivor you main to invest points into and others either p1 or p3 depending if you want perks for all or just for your one survivor. It would only really start to help for challenges or if you wanted to play a different survivor who has nothing. Killers offering sharing would be pretty strong though.

  • To put it short i feel like my killer games are against people who can play and my survivor games are with people who don't know how to play well.

i don't know if they count ties at all so you almost never lose if you get 2k.

  • I know they announced adjusting prices because of cross-play, though I think steam also adjusts prices depending on region which is probably the reason.

  • skull merchant butchered, distortion butchered, killer aura reading buffed like crazy, last person mori-able. i could see why people are annoyed. I'm not sure why the mori thing would be hated aside the offerings being basically useless now unless the bp bonus is crazy.

  • There's also the sable perk that if you hook them in the basement they can first hook. Sometimes just lucky, i've had games where 2 people have done it.

  • because unlike billy you can flick his demon dash hit to behind you or around stuff. You can also skate around obstacles unlike billy and it's very easy to snowball as him. Keeping the tradition I suppose. All killers/survivors came with 3 perks from the beginning and I guess they want to keep going with it. There's a lot of perks that are too situational and you'll almost never see. Not everything needs to be super amazing but I don't think there's a good middle area of perks. It's either Super good/meta or pretty bad/Niche.
