  • Instances of tunnelling and slugging would be x% higher.

The problem is that eventually bleeding out over time does not cut it if the Killer is intentionally extending that time by a lot while also preventing the gens from being done. We already know that "forever" is not the cutoff for what is considered "hostage holding." It only has to be well past a reasonable point.

But the killer can’t really do that. Best he can do is pick up one survivor until the wiggle timer or drop them repeatedly (which will allow them to wiggle free pretty quickly,) whilst the other survivor is either doing gens or bleeding out.

OP also mentioned that the Killer was intentionally making Survivors get back up, which makes bleeding out not a feasible option. That's the big difference in my book.

Yeah but then they can do gens so it’s not a bannable offence. They’ll either do all the gens or bleed out over time.

The DC situation is a lot better today compared to how it was a few years back when we did have DC penalties. Today I will normally get 1 DC in around 3 days of play. 2 if I'm lucky. And the killer will DC if I'm really lucky. A couple of years back you'd get a DC practically every match.

I'd say they are largely unnecessary, and I'm saying this as someone who has never DC'd in this game for any reason.

If you had to ask me what made the difference is a change in game balance to make the game less frustrating for both sides.

I’ve been getting several dcs a day since the penalty was disabled. Sometimes multiple matches in a row.

  • Reporting the killer will do nothing as they were not holding the game hostage. You should have just done the gens. If he kicks them, keep doing them. If he hits you, keep doing them. If he downs you, bleed out. There is no possible scenario where this killer was holding the game hostage.

  • Despite making up a significant portion of revenue, console players are highly under appreciated and I doubt that’ll change tbh. Terrible performance, no option to adjust brightness or graphics which puts you at a tremendous disadvantage, no option to chat, no test realm, no option to jump into an empty map like on PC, no mouse and keyboard support. Console players are an absolute afterthought despite brining in a ton of money.

  • It beyond comical. Killing a survivor who’s dead on hook anyway, in a game where you play as a killer and kill survivors, is considered “toxic.” Sums up society pretty well imho.

  • I’ve been using them every match and still have a few left. Almost have all the perks unlocked since the event.

  • Would help the atrocious new player experience too. It takes several thousand hours of gameplay just to get a few hundred hours of practice at looping if you play solo queue, and looping is the core mechanic of the game. A bot mode would make the learning curve far more reasonable.

  • I actually came back to the game because of the bot mode thinking it would be similar to mobile, but turns out it’s just a bare-bones tutorial on the same map vs the same killer. Still sort of cool I suppose but they could have made the new player experience immensely better with a proper bot mode.

  • I haven’t lost as addon-less perk-less trickster.

The report system works if done correctly, of course you need video evidence to prove someone is hacking, otherwise people would get banned for no reason because who reported them didn't know how specific perks work for example, this tend to happen quite a lot.

Again, we do not have details to share yet, since the system is still in development, I'm just explaining that actions within the game rules (camping and tunneling for example or tbagging) won't lead to a ban.

When people realise they can’t get someone banned for tunnelling or camping etc, what is to stop them from simply lying in their report? As you say, video evidence would be needed. But that’s not a new system. That’s the current system, and we know a new system is being worked on.

Granted, we don’t have the details yet but it doesn’t really add up. A new system coined “auto ban” that requires video evidence like the current system?

    Time will tell I suppose.

  • Vs. bad survivors I agree he doesn’t really take skill to play, but vs. good survivors he definitely does. That’s not me trying to have a dog at ya, it’s just how he is designed.

  • The only convincing argument I’ve seen for changes to Hag is to make her unable to trap right next to a hook, but even then the radius would have to be smaller than that of the Twins or else it would render many important trap locations useless and would nerf her in areas that don’t need adjusting.

  • Well I’ve given up on hook before when my team have let me go to phase two despite having ample time to rescue. The usual sitting in gens while someone else is in chase on the opposite side of the map.

The way I see it they didn’t care about winning so me leaving was mostly irrelevant, and it was more fun for me to get into a match with team mates who want to try and win, and I play for fun.

Would I do it again? Absolutely. It’s happened several times lol.

  • I digress. Survivors are massively overpowered. The whole game is balanced around how bad they are at the whole game though.

All you need to do to win a match is to equip several second chance perks and it’s a free win of the game. So many times survivors will run all second chance perks and just sit on generators doing nothing and the killer is doing nothing because he can’t hit a survivor when they sprint burst away or hit them again when they teleport with dead hard and if he hit them again they use descisive strike and then if he doesn’t pick them up they use unbreakable but if he does they will just use deliverence so the killer is forced to slug but then the survivors can just camp generators and teabag and the killer is forced to go afk.

  • Wraith is very solid now. Easily B tier imho. Top 5 is a bit of a stretch though as he’s too map dependant and easily countered by good survivors.

  • The answer is more that pig needs a small rework than anything else. Wraith is definitely not close to being overpowered, and despite what the statistics say, pig is definitely not a strong killer, however you can’t just buff pig without making her far too strong when she gets good rng.

  • Wraith is a very solid killer now but he’s still pretty map dependant. I’d say high B tier overall, which is a good spot.

There are two major camps when it comes to Wraith, one thinking he’s overpowered and the other thinking he’s weak, but in reality he’s roughly in the middle.

  • Deathslinger is perfectly balanced. He’s supposed to destroy you 1vs1, especially vs. lower skilled survivors. This is compensated for by his lack of map pressure.

My advice would be, instead of submitting yourself to the deathslinger and killing yourself on hook for him, try to take a look at what you are doing wrong and make adjustments accordingly.

  • Lucky break is extremely powerful for low / average skill survivors. It’s a contender for the strongest perk in the game at that level. Luckily nobody has really bothered to look into it too much, so I don’t have to worry about it when I play killer.

  • Hag’s fine. She’s a strong killer but she’s certainly not overturned. I don’t think any changes are necessary.

  • Honestly it’s impossible to tell their intent unless they explicitly state it. I’m not doubting it occurs, but I’ve had many killers hit me on the hook from every angle.

The advice of trying to tease it out of them in end game chat is sound.

I'll never understand why they are so hesitant to give out bloodpoints. I can't imagine how hard the grind would look for new players.

1,000,000 bloodpoints, which is the cap, isn’t even enough to fully level 1 survivor/killer, let alone unlock their 3 teachables on 1 other character.

The grind is legit worse than most free to play mobile games lol.

  • Self care itself isn’t so bad for solo queue tbh, people just use it wrong. There are plenty of situations where you have to stand around twiddling your thumbs for a few secs and self care can be used to intermittently top up your heal bar. Is that worth a perk slot? Each to his own I suppose.

Self care + botany + desperate measures is great for solo queue though.

If they wanted to, they could also just all play Claudette, Adam, Tapp and Elodie and Play the racist card. I don’t get how the charm is problematic. There is enough pointless LGBTQ+ discussions currently here in the forums.

you can for example determine it by the end game chat. People that target others because of stuff like that want those people to know it - otherwise there isn’t even a reason to targeting in the first place. Or if it can be proven over MULTIPLE games with video evidence that the killer only ever targets people with the charm. Or people of color. Or people with specific references in their usernames.

I agree these discussions are pointless. I’m just saying I understand where the concern is coming from.

Yes but what if this new minority inclusion negatively affects me in some way? What if an unusual and unlikely hypothetical scenario my imagination dreamed up actually turns out to be the unfounded nightmare I've imagined? What if I get validation for my discomfort around LGBTQ+ issues?

Is this passive aggressive remark aimed at me?

  • @Mooks said:

you don’t get banned just because you Tunnel one survivor that wears that charm.

you get banned if you singled out and targeted only survivors that are wearing that charm. That has always been the case if you did this with other „reasons“ like targeting only characters that are people of color.

you only get banned for this if there is evidence that you are actually targeting with that reason.

the new ban system isn’t out yet and we don’t know how it will actually work. It doesn’t relate directly to LGBTQ+ topics and should be discussed separately.

I doubt any of this will be an issue, but I do understand where people are coming from.

If a % of charm wearing survivors reflexively report killers for targeted harassment on principle, how is anyone able to accurately determine the killer’s intent?

  • The pip system if highly flawed. You can easily de-pip despite successfully escaping whilst significantly outperforming your team. I don’t think any other game punishes players for performing well and successfully achieving the end goal.

  • @Mooks said:

To the topic: literally nothing has changed. Grieving and harassment has always been a reportable and bannable offense. Just like you could get banned if you singled out and targeted only characters that are people of color. That is no argument for exclusion of people of color however.

you won’t get banned without any evidence.

if you are worried about the upcoming new ban system, that has nothing to do with the pride charm or LGBTQ+ inclusion. That’s a whole different topic.

The concern I’ve seen is more about people being reflexively reported by multiple people who just so happen to be wearing the charm. If x% of people wearing the charm report anyone who kills, camps, tunnels them (etc,) there’s a genuine risk of innocent killers (lol) being banned regardless of their actual intentions.

I doubt it will be an issue, but the concern makes sense.

I'm 100% wearing this. And if I get tunneled, that killer is getting reported. Banning bigots one at a time:)

You can’t get banned for tunnelling. At least not at the moment.

  • Survivor is less stressful in general and you have plenty of down time where you can just chill.

  • Is it like the training mode on mobile? It had a chance to test it yet.

  • It’s a cool idea but I think revamping totem spawns in general is a cleaner solution.

  • Wow that sucks. I was looking forward to those blood points. The grind is doing my head in lol.

  • It doesn’t matter if face camping etc is not bannable, because people will simply lie. Do we really expect these types of people, who are using the autoban system as a weapon, to be honest in their reports?

  • @Mineguy said:

As I saw the livestream yesterday and saw the charm. I found it really cool and the charm looks really good.

But then I did the mistake and read the chat and Twitter...

So many (Bad word here) people who write garbage like "I tunnel every one who is wearing that" and stuff that goes in the ddos direction....

I don't know if this charm is "ready" for this community and so many people react like brain dead kids.

I’ve honestly never seen anyone say that. I’m not saying you haven’t, but I really don’t think it’s anything to worry about. It’s probably just people memeing / larping. People like to talk ######### on the internet.

  • Zombies perform their intended role adequately on small maps imho. They can still be inconsistent at times but more often then not you get some decent out of them. However on large maps they’re far too inconsistent and unreliable. I think increasing the number to 3 on large maps would be a good start.

  • I think a cool idea would be to make his rocket launcher a side objective on the map upon reaching tier 3. Survivors would have a way of trying to prevent you from obtaining it, but if you outplay them you get a strong, one time use insta kill that triggers a really epic mori.

  • I just don’t see how this system could work. We don’t know the details yet and everything is speculation, but it sounded like a system to at least escalate based upon the number of reports.

Do the devs really have the tech and manpower to trawl through video footage of game after game, for player after player, to verify whether or not the reports are malicious or accurate? Highly unlikely. Which suggests the system could be designed to simply ban you automatically once you reach a certain report threshold, which would of course be disastrous.

    Time will tell I suppose.

  • I really like his power tbh. I do however think that in tier 3 it should damage survivors and break pallets simultaneously.

  • I’d really like to know how this is going to be implemented whilst preventing it from being used as a weapon against innocent players.

I have never once done anything “toxic.” Never camped. Never tunnelled. I just play the game. Yet in the last 300 or so hours of gameplay, I’ve received 28 abusive messages from many different players. Every one of these messages was angry and petty. I’ve even had abuse from people I’ve given the hatch to. If this feature had already been implemented, that could very easily have been 28 reports/strikes on my account. I would likely have been banned for simply playing the game (if the feature is implemented how it was worded.)

Also what is to stop people from simply lying in their report? Once people work out that you can’t get someone banned for camping or tunnelling, they’re just going to make stuff up.

What’s the quality control like? Can you identify false reports? If so, can people be punished for false reports?

What is there to stop a salty SWF from lying and backing up each other’s stories? Lots of questions.

I think the devs are dangerously underestimating the pettiness of a particular % of the player base.

I understand that we don’t know the full details of this feature yet and that it’s still in development, but I just want to say that if people can simply report you and that counts as a strike against your account regardless of reality, then it’s absolutely going to be abused and weaponised, and many innocent people are going to be banned, leaving the game and never coming back.

We’ll have to wait and see I suppose.

  • What’s worse is that you won’t be able to talk about your unjust ban on the forums without getting banned here too, therefore community pushback in this is gong to be a slow burn once/if it gets implemented.

  • What’s worse is people will work out that you can’t get someone banned for such things, and will simply lie instead. Imagine salty SWF all lying and backing up each others stories just to screw you over.

  • The Zombies are so cool lol. They certainly don’t do the killer’s job for him. They’re a part of his toolkit, nothing more. I love the fact that a zombie will, on rare occasion, push someone off a gen, or camp a hook. It’s great.

  • Even if the system is implemented well, what’s to stop salty SWF from just lying and backing each others stories up?

Same as people were missing about 4min chase in Otz's vid telling all Gen would be done by then.

People needs to understand those moment of starting a match, checking for Ruin, just about to run & find Ruin with Small game. Then a survivor already gets injured.

Now look back to the vid. 58sec chase with 3 pallets drop, and runner lead the Killer to your Gen, force you to leave. While Ruin is on.

Exactly m8. All the video shows is that even in unrealistic, laboratory settings vs. an extremely high calibre survivor, Spirit has no counter-play, and in an actual game of dbd under normal conditions with a team of varying skill levels, the issue is simply exacerbated.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2213223#Comment_2213223

Killers need to land hits in intervals of 30 seconds to be strong in the first place. A lot of the reason why the game balance breaks for killer at top-level is that most killers are not landing 30 second interval chases because of a lot imbalance loops(like god pallets, safe loops etc.). To put it bluntly, your skill as killer matters very little when your playing weaker killers like legion, clown, trickster(?) etc. you simply don't get the opportunity to mindgame the survivor because the loop has little to no mindgame when survivors plays safe loops perfectly. Its why changes like Billy and Freddy are very much in the wrong direction for when they're doing changes that remove skill-expression from those killers. Killers should strive to be closer to around spirit-level in power. Between the finding survivors, chasing the survivor for 58 seconds and hooking them, its easily around 80 seconds to complete 3 gens. Those pallets are there to get used. The biggest wasted pallet is the pallet that doesn't get used when you walk outside of an exit gate. There is enough pallets on the vast majority of maps that you will never really run out if you use them intelligently.

Not sure why people keep taking my words out of context. I’m talking about the video. Scott’s challenge. Not a real match.

In a real match you’re not lasting 58 seconds vs. a good Spirit, even if you’re above the top 1% of players, unless you get lucky enough to have your ideal map with every resource available, and just so happen to start at the ideal position in the ideal scenario, and even then your team is screwed regardless.

Pallets are there to be used, but you’re not supposed to just use them all as you approach them. Doing so will artificially extend a chase like in the video, but the end result is a loss unless you’re in a comp team, but we’re not talking about comp.

1 … 15 16 17 18 19 … 21
