  • Nah even with his new speed, he’s so lacklustre at chasing @ the majority of loops that his map pressure is still relatively low. Sure you can whiz around from gen to gen reasonably fast, but that doesn’t really achieve too much when he can’t back it up with actual pressure.

  • Head On: Remove the 3 second windup, increase the range + radius.

  • Chase potential trumps all else and Wraith is certainly below average because @ the majority of loops he’s an m1 killer with no power.

It’s true that he’s great at catching people out in the open and he can stomp newer survivors, but that’s certainly not enough to make up for his incredibly lacklustre chase potential.

  • Depends whether I want a chill game or a sweaty game tbh. If I’m in the mood for just relaxing I’ll play survivor, have a cuppa and a rollie while I chill on a gen, run around in circles a bit. If I’m more hyped and awake I’ll hop on killer and sweat a bit.

  • As a new killer playing on Xbox X I’m definitely not looking forward to the new lucky break. It’s hard enough to track survivors as it is because the game is so incredibly dark and there are no options to alleviate this. But aye Spies is actually highly underrated and on some maps it’s right up there with the best tracking perks in the game imho.

  • Although I agree with you and I think discussing + critiquing a video that compares the viability of two killers should be perfectly accepted in the general discussion forum, you’re probably going to get a warning for discussing forum moderation. Just a heads up.

  • Nah you’ll be fine. At least you’re not playing on Xbox lol. Game is so dark you can barely see the red glow until the killer is a few steps away.

  • This video is quite a decent demonstration of why The Slinger’s power is balanced or at least not overpowered/too oppressive when out in the open or at smaller loops.

    https://youtu.be/35vBSv7zPGw

  • For killer it’d a huge advantage vs most setups. I have quite an expensive tv with decent speakers but it’s pretty much impossible to discern the direction a sound is coming from, and even with the volume up too high, survivors sounds are quieter than with headphones.

  • What an incredibly tedious idea. Why are gamers so obsessed with which pixel is poking which lol.

  • Maybe they just want to learn how to loop. The new player experience in this game is relatively atrocious and as a new survivor you probably only get to practice looping for 20 - 40 seconds (on average) per match before you’re out of the game and queueing for the next.

I’ve done this a couple of times with object of obsession.

  • I’m new to killer so can’t really say which is easier, but I got to red ranks as survivor pretty easily without even knowing how to loop lol.

as a gay person i for one am super tired of companies making announcements about gay characters.

    1. my identity is not a marketing gimmick. it is not something to be packed up and sold to consumers.
    2. it takes away from the idea that people can just Be Gay. you know what would be great? if you just said that existing characters are gay. just pick a bunch of original survivors like claudette, meg, jeff, felix, ace, jane and then a bunch of original killers like nurse, hag, trapper, trickster, deathslinger, charlotte and just tell us they're lgbt in some way. like, wow! jeff is gay, and meg is ace, and felix is trans! why does it gotta be something i have to look forward to in "the future"? just give it to me now, you literally have the ability.
    3. i hate the idea of "every single character we've added so far is definitely cis and het, because we're making a big deal out of this next one not being cis and het. finally, for you homos out there, we're adding a new killer, The F-slur!" like okay. i doubt you'll be so tasteless as to actually name a killer that but you understand how it feels like that, right? am i getting it across?
    4. i'm so glad that i got confirmation that every single character is straight because you went out of your way to make sure that i'm hyper aware that the new guy is gay. whoever it is, you've circularly confirmed all existing characters as definitely straight, because you didn't sell them to me as a gay product to consume, so they're just not.

my conclusion is in point 2 - you already have characters, just tell me some of them are lgbt already. queer people just exist and you have every ability to just make some of these existing characters lgbt so just, do it already. don't make me wait, don't hype up the fact that people like me exist, don't market me to consumers, just tell me you support me and approve of me by making characters that are queer like me.

why do i have to wait?

Unfortunately so many companies do this because there are so many people within the LGBT community lobbying for more and more representation in every medium. It’s a double edged sword.

  • Spirit is easily the second strongest killer. There’s no way a tell on phasing would have that much of an effect on her viability. You already know when she’s phasing in 90% of situations anyways and a tell would simply help put an end to the “mind game” of standing still at short loops to get a free hit. I don’t see that free hit being the thing that makes her so strong, so I’m not convinced that taking the free hit away will have much of an impact on her power level.

  • I don’t really think anyone needs a nerf tbh aside from spirit needing a tell when phasing.

If the killer knows the hatch location. It isn't a race it's killers choice. And you can't always bring a key into every single match for the few times this happens. Also that tactic won't work cause the other gate is trapped to that's the issue.

Well if the killer knows the hatch location and you don’t, fair play to the killer.

If you know the hatch location you can get there before the killer because he has to hook the other survivor first.

If you don’t bring a key try to find one in a chest.

You can still disable the other trap and probably make it out before he gets to you if you’re quick enough on the draw. Gates need to have good spawns for you though. Worst case scenario it’s stealth, rinse & repeat and hope for the best. One of you will mess up with their timing and to the victor go the spoils.

As someone else said, the killer has the advantage in this end game scenario, and rightfully so tbh. You shouldn’t expect to be able to escape all the time unless you have a key, which is a free win in the vast majority of situations.

  • Very accurate, although you forgot to mention all the perks they get for free.

  • It definitely needs some kind of a buff but activation on 2 protection hits would be waaaaay too strong.

  • You could get to the hatch before he does, or take a key. Or if the exit gates are far enough away from each other, disable one trap and immediately run to the other gate and you’ll probably get it open before he gets to you.

I used to run Spine Chill but I quit because I felt that it was too situational, I figure that with some aura and speed perks I don't need it. I don't want to have to use it just for one or two sneaky killers but you ARE right, it would help against Wraith.

I just don't understand why they felt the need to buff him. Why take away the one fair trade to making the guy invisible? I'm fine it he's invisible as long as I actually have enough time to run when I hear that bell. Now I don't even hear the bell. It's super cheap, and I'm going against him far more now than I was before.

I hear ya. I hate facing wraith because I’m terrible at looping and being a competent looper is honestly his best counter, but tbh I’m happy with his buffs because he was one of the weaker killers overall aside from stomping lower ranks. With the buffs he’s a lot stronger but still not top tier even though it can feel like he is when you’re not used to 1vs1ing him.

Try to only focus on gens next to larger, safer loops and you’ll definitely do much better vs him with a bit of practice. On T&L for example, if you can play the tile well he’s just an m1 killer with no power. Think trapper with no traps etc.

  • I couldn’t help but chuckle when Otz kept insisting that they should be on 4-man coms instead of 2x2, to “make it more fair.” What are you smoking lol. These survivors were using 50% meme builds and still destroyed the majority of killers. Imagine if they went full meta along with stacked toolboxes/Medkits. The truth is, all else equal the game is survivor sided, and bringing coms into the equation puts the killer at a monstrous disadvantage (for the majority of killers.)

  • I got everything in one go. Didn’t really regret it as such but it was annoying having to play for 500 hours to be able to use a handful of the content.

  • Pretty much everything is censored in chat. Even the word gullible.

  • @Sluzzy said:

As easy as killer is, why on gods earth is it necessary to crutch on the same things over and over for free wins? Does it not get boring winning very easy?

First game of the day: Hillbilly with Ruin and Tinkerer

Second game of the day: Nurse also with Ruin, Tinkerer, and even Starstruck on top of that

Third game of the day: Huntress with Ruin. I killed myself and exited the game. I knew the 4th match would be another Huntress or a Spirit probably.

This is ridiculous and very embarrassing for killers. It's more embarassing for the devs that are so incompetent that they leave all of these training wheels in the game for killer to get a 4K every game.

Once again, balance the game and make it fair for a change and stop pandering to baby killers that want easy wins.

We all now that survivors are the really crutch and your are being dum bass hell of your think that killers need crutch every game. All a survivor need to is to equip deadhard, sprint burst, desicove strike iron will and head on and it is pretty much unpossible to even get one hit.

  • I show mercy quite a lot if the game goes really well for me. But with how consistently I get spammed in Xbox messages post match it sometimes makes me reconsider, thinking this guy I’m about to give hatch to would likely be calling my mother a ***** ********* ** ***** **** lol.

  • @miketheratguy said:

Whatever the Wraith has. They went and buffed a character to the point of essential perfection. He's invisible, insanely fast, and silent. All he needs to do is rush up on you from an angle you may not be happening to look in and boom, he's uncloaked and hit you. From there it's pretty much just prolonging the inevitable loss.

This is demonstrated by the (anecdotal) fact that I'm now against the Wraith four or five times more than I was before the latest patch, and I usually don't even know it until I or another teammate has been knocked down. It's a pain in the ass. What counterplay is there to someone who just suddenly appears right next to you and can hit you before you have time to get out of their reach?

You gotta pay extra attention vs wraith and if you’re not running spinechill be sure to have an out in mind. He’s going to get a free hit on you pretty consistently but he’s quite weak at anything above the smallest of loops and you can just run him around while your team does gens. If he’s smart he’ll leave you alone after the free hit and will look for a weaker target who’s out in the open or by a small loop/unsafe pallet.

  • To survivors:

If you get me down to 2 gens before I even have time to walk across the map, I’m going to try and get one of you out the game ASAP. It’s called playing killer.

If you’re going to play sweaty, I’m going to play sweaty.

If you try to unhook your teammate before I’ve even left the vicinity of the hook, I’m going to test for borrowed time. If you do it again, I’m most definitely going to attack the poor guy you just unhooked in front of my face. It’s called playing killer and taking advantage of your terrible misplay.

If however gens are going at a reasonable speed and I actually have time to check every gen at least once before the last one pops, I’ll play more chill and will go for max hooks.

Just as if you respect my killer and don’t try to unhook directly in my face, I’ll allow your mate to scurry away and I’ll hook you instead 😁

  • Let’s be honest though, according to most survivors if you attack the same person more than one time per match you’re a filthy tunneller lol.

  • @xEa said:

You actually name the reasons why people dislike Slinger:

"Doging his gun the best you can" - You cant. He is missing, you are not dodging. Leaving ALL in the hand of the killer.

"Throwing pallets early" - Extremly boring. The same reason why many people dislike Clown.

On top of that, he has a very small terror radius. This on a killer who can quick scope with a long range rifle in a game where the opposite site is not able to shoot back is annoying and not to mention totally out of place.

I’ve watched many hours of high level Deathslinger play including tournaments and survivors can absolutely dodge/juke his shots.

  • Only issue I have with it is that I play on Xbox X so most maps are near pitch black even with brightness turned all the way up.

  • Nothing much as I’m on Xbox and am thus not deemed worthy of communication with PC etc.

Agreed. I’m just saying people who said he was “killed” clearly don’t know what they’re talking about

    Fair enough.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Im not a billy main so can someone please explain to me why overheat is so bad? The only thing it seems to prevent is billy just looping you with the chainsaw reved until he gets in point blank range.

And if you think billy got screwed look at nurse. Shes still the best killer in the game but playing her is so damn frustrating with all her bugs.

He can’t do that at loops because because he moves slower than survivors whilst revving. Overheat is bad because it severely limits the use and versatility of a potentially powerful ability, rendering it relatively weak for seemingly no reason whatsoever.

  • @Phasmamain said:

I don’t know mate. I do just fine with him in most my matches.

Fact is his add ons needed a nerf. Overheat is debatable

Anyone can do just fine on any killer, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t weak.

  • They don’t just use data but they clearly rely on it far too heavily, disregarding objective observation in favour of spreadsheets more often than not. There are numerous improvements that could be made to the game that are dismissed simply because the data disagrees despite objective reality telling a different story.

Trapper for example. Why doesn’t he have the bag addon as base kit? Because the data suggests it isn’t necessary even though reality clearly shows that it is. There are many such cases. It’s an incredibly flawed and shortsighted way to manage a game’s development.

  • Killer will most likEly be Nemesis. His perk will make him break walls 10% faster.

  • I found it interesting when he said you’ve got two choices, kill or be killed. Doubt they’d ever release a killer you could kill but one can hope.

  • Vs. the majority of survivors spirit is OP. She is invisible, can move at lightening speed and can essentially still see survivors. Vs. good players she’s more balanced albeit still annoying.

Saying "just bait out Dead Hard" is the equivalent of saying "just do bones against NOED." Just wanted to point that out.

Please don't start an argument about NOED though, let's just talk about DH here.

But...that’s all you need to do to counter NOED lol. You have the entire match to find the bones, even after it’s triggered, and there are multiple ways to speed up the progress. Sure sometimes you can get unlucky with spawns, but so can the killer.

With PC, there are so many things they can do with the graphics cards to adjust things. Filters and resolutions.

When we were talking about crossplay being integrated, i always hoped it would be console to console and pc to pc.

Aye I love my Xbox but really miss my PC lol.

  • Perhaps it sounds too strong on paper but simple reality is, for the average survivor DH will extend a chase by a few seconds at best. Yes, in theory it can be an extra health state and can double the length of a chase, however this is in the hands of a skilled survivor, and unfortunately you can’t balance this game like that and you must take heavily into account the vast number of potato’s. DH will probably get nerfed regardless due to the relentless complaining.

  • Xbox series X player here. The game is like PC on max settings but with less FPS. Some maps are so dark you can barely see properly. Killer’s red glow is only visible when he’s right next to you and it’s a dark red as opposed to PC’s bright red. Huge disadvantage for sure.

  • Most of my games have been survivors running the killer into me multiple times, letting me die in first hook or unhooking me right in front of the killer lol. Been a crappy day for DBD.

  • Dead Hard is fine. Old DS was fine. This game has a huge spectrum of skill-levels and you have to take into account all the potato’s when balancing. Dead Hard in the hands of your average survivor will extend a chase by a few seconds at best. Sure it can sometimes double the length of a chase when used by a skilled survivor, it you can’t just balance it around that.

  • Trickor is OP he like huntress but instead of 4 hatchets he get a bajillion only trade of he have to hit you couple more times plus he fire like every .01 secon.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

... So you tell me that by playing with my friends i get an automatic notification that a totem was cleansed?

Im sincerely amazed how many people get the actual cwf advantage wrong.

HUD, UI, aura reading is spontaneous, automatic spoonfed info you dont have to activatre a braincell for.

Comms let you inquire others about info which they might not even have. Each survivor still needs to actually think about intending to inquire about info and relaying said info.

Yet everyones talking about all that free info. Swf doesnt have free info, they can talk about stuff they need to find out first.

You’re clutching at straws a bit there. Of course SWF get a ton of free info, it’s very disingenuous to deny it. There are so many perks you get for free, opening up slots for other goodies. I get that people want to play with friends and that’s fine, but let’s not pretend SWF aren’t at a huge advantage when it comes to information. The game was designed around working with limited info, alleviated to a degree by a few choice perks and SWF cheese their way around this design.

  • He was put in the game to appeal to all the creepy kpop obsessives so they can fantasise about who he’s dating and whether or not he’s gay etc, imho.

  • I’m finally getting to red ranks despite the weird de sync / lag I seem to have where the killer can run at me from half the map away and hit me 5 seconds later through sprint burst lol.

  • @Axe said:

head on + sprint burst combo. you stun the killer then speed boost away from him... pretty sure its a reason why its a exhaust perk my guy.

Man it’s so cringe when people say that. “My guy.” Reeks of condescending fart sniffing lol. How is your wine?

If you spend two perk slots and actually manage to pull off that combo consistently then I think it’s perfectly fair enough as the killer has to be pretty terrible to even get hit by Head On given how easy it is to bait out. This isn’t even taking into account what has to line-up to be able to use it in the first place besides the meme of hiding in a locker hoping the killer walks right past you.

So if everything lines up and the killer fails to juke out the puny range, with Sprint Burst you manage to get away and the killer reprioritises. I don’t really see an issue tbh. The cool down can even be longer than the exhaust effect.

As it stands Head On is far too situational to warrant the exhaust effect over the possibility that you might once in a blue moon get away from the killer for free.

  • @Mugombo said:

I don’t think the OP means it shouldn’t have a cooldown, but more why is the cooldown based on exhaustion rather than just a timed cooldown.

This lol. It should still have a cool down ofc but shouldn’t be tied to exhaustion. The effect is too weak and situational. A 3 second stun sounds great on paper, but good luck using it effectively in the majority of situations, unlike Dead Hard or Sprint Burst for example. I’m sort of surprised this is a controversial take given how weak the perk is whilst still having the exhaust effect.
