It would not. The emblem system which determines rank is fundamentally flawed; and caps out at an area where most people reside.

The founding system for your rank is broken at it's core and does not work, the developers have admitted that is is broken and does not work.

You could argue rank based matchmaking is fine- but saying the current system as a whole would work for that purpose is just flat out incorrect. Regardless of how many killers or survivors there are in queue.

It is better than basic MMR.

It blows my mind after the last few updates and years of the servers people trust bhvr to make mmr function, especially on this code.

MMR will make me quit. I'd get sick of being punished for playing from the start.

I want a casual fun game for all.

Not a sweat-fest. MMR is never going to work for dbd. Hiw will it define skill?

A spirit with stretched res and stridor is just "better" than the worlds best Pig?

Claudette hiding with a key in swamp is better than me or her teammates?

Oh i ran killer for 5 gens and fid no objective. Guess I'm bad?

MMR can't work if bhvr can define skill, wins or escapes and do not understand the game as proven by recent design choices. Demo nerfs, Freddy nerfed instead of being fixed. Nurse being bugged for 2 years, huntress hitboxes, twin nerf instead of rework, using perks as Band-Aids for design, breakable walks, no events, absurd tome challenges, the rift grind itself, Tricksters weakness and never taking ptb feedback.

Mark my words, mmr will kill dbd.

How this matchmaking is fine? I believe all these guys were red ranks before rank reset. I have 80 hours and my opponent in that match has 6k. Is this my problem that there are not enough red rank killers at the moment? I want to play with my ranks.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KKJ797QBR54V/image.png

There aren't enough killers, im sorry that happened but please read post, MMR will not solve this. It will make less high skill killers play and increase not only sweat, but qeues

@Dweet_Unfairfield help me understand why you so adamantly believe that 50/50s are strictly coin-tosses?

Have you ever played a sport before?

50/50s are the closest thing DBD has to IRL Sports.

    Hockey is the perfect metaphor.

If a hockey skater is the survivor, then the goalie is the killer. In a shootout, the skater (survivor) makes the initial moves and the goalie (killer) is trained to position themselves for the best chance of success until the moment where they react to the opponent's movements and commit to a specific action.

In a shootout, no one is guessing what the other is doing. DBD chases are exactly the same way.

    VIDEO OF Killer's Winning Chases

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6SFCSwJJsA

If you think 50/50s are a guessing game, then I'm sorry but you're playing the game all wrong.

Because this isn't a tournament ready game or sports game?

I enjoy feeling like i used years of experience, knowledge and skill to outplay someone. Not just guess correctly or die? With 50\50s there's no skill or difference between great players and average or sometimes even bad players?

A football player uses knowledge and physical skill to beat others or sees something coming and reacts to it.

There is none of that vs a great blight or spirit, especially with bad RnG. Much like how a huntress can feel defeated by getting Lery's or Hawkins.

When skill is irrelevant due to things out of someones control, they don't have fun.

Why do you think Spirit and Slinger or Freddy get hate? Not because they are "op" but for the fact 2 of them are braindead and strong with a low skill cap. I feel like great Billy or oni outplay me and respect them, i feel like i guessed in correctly to a mediocre player and lost a coin flip out of my control to the 3 i listed. Slinger is just too oppressive in chase but lacking in 4v1. Bad design.

50\50s are unhealthy. Im guessing you don't play much survivor so I'll word this for you better.

When Survivors gets 20+ pallets on a big map with lots of clutter and you spawn in the middle. Do you feel like you were "outplayed" if you guess the wrong gens at the start and lise 1-3 because a bad first chase and spawn.. or do you feel like there was nothing you could do?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The most fun intense matches, win or lose, have always been when the matchup of skill has been on equal footing.

I have never enjoyed being slugged at 5 gens by a god nurse, or unable to hook a single survivor all game as killer. Same with doing 5 gens and like never seeing the killer at all, or wiping a floor with 4 survivors because they just all kill themselves and DC after first down.

Whatever gets me closer to the first thing, and less of the latter, is the best thing and what I support. I don't care how they do it but that is what I want.

It would be the current system if only there were more killers. The MMR won't work.

Especially if a god tier Killer on their main playes someone they never use for low mmr, they aren't "awful or new" at doc for example if they are an amazing wraith with 0 hours on dic.

Not yo mention per killer mmr means Survivors will only see nurse\spirit and never vs the new killers.

  • @Silver9 said:

Okay off topic question. I've played against blight once so I can't add any valid points to this post but i wanted to ask when did deathslinger join the ranks of oppressive killers? I keep seeing it come up but I've never heard that before today.

He can repeatedly spam ads without shooting to zone you and close distance, he has a tiny tr but is ranged, and his shot is literally un-reactable unless max distance.

He has no chase interaction or counter-play beyond "hope he misses"

He isn't op by any means but simply boring since he removes survivor skill with none needed on his own end. He encourages gen rush because the lack of chase interaction.

    Hopefully that explains his hate.

  • @Beefmur said:

Blights not even that oppressive. You get cucked on all indoor maps except midwich. He has to break pallets unlike some killers. Circle loops tell him no. picnic tables are his actual weakness. The only thing he has is speed and thats why his ruin tinkerer is so annoying. The fact that you complain about the one thing he has makes me sad.

On top of this who cares if you j flick i dont see anyone here complaining about stretched res survivors. Thats been in the game forever. The jflick isn't going to be removed its not even possible. Why do i know this? They would've patched it already if they could. GOD FORBID THE KILLER WINS WITHOUT PLAYING NURSE OR SPIRIT. ILLEGAL

I see complaints for both since they are both exploits used by sweaty cheaters?

Unlike most on the forums, i want balance for both sides. Not free 4ks or escapes.

  • @terminus345 said:

@Dweet_Unfairfield Honestly man, reading this thread and seeing people patronize you and trying to teach you how to "counter blight" when they have no clue what they're talking about is both sad and hilarious. I go up against these blights you described perfectly almost constantly and they all do the exact same #########, 3 gen perks (wow it can be either bbq or bbq as the last perk, how wild!), alchemist ring or 2x rush speed, sometimes compound 21 or turning. There's not a single moment in the chase where I'm having fun because of flicks hitting me around every corner, rush speed tokens showing me very bad hits on my side because of servers, and the fact they constantly do 2-rush combo which recharges instantly even if you miss. It's almost impossible to stop a snowball if the blight knows what he's doing, especially in soloQ where I assume the only time they don't get a 4k is when someone keys or finds hatch (if they don't get slugged for the 4k). There's a clear distinction here between this playstyle being prevalent in red ranks and these blights ALWAYS sweating for the 4k, and the casual blights everyone here on this forum considers fun, and nobody got your point. I don't really comment on forum posts but it made me sad reading this and getting this circlejerk of upvoted comments going "u wot m8 just learn to play against that looooool".

I just love getting bad rng against an exploiter with 3 slowdowns who destroys the solo teams i get, sorry but I can't "get gud" vs that type of Blight on shelter woods with 3 pallets and shack.

  • @just_teme said:

Its rare that i see a post i actually relate with here but damn i thought it was just me that thought this?

Id rather play against nurse for the rest of existance than face more than 1 blight per 100 hours.

    Thank you friend.

Im afraid most dont get to vs a sweaty blight as most on the forums tend yo be low skill killer mains who want free wins and enjoy complaining.

Or dumb survivors who want free escapes and to bully bad killers.

Its quite sad they aren't good enough to care for real balance or simply lie to bias.

50/50 mindgames are actually exactly what this game needs. Why should mindgames be in favor of the survivor? Or am I misunderstanding you here?

50\50 mind-games aren't skill, they feel very unfun for the loser of a coin toss.

I'd rather feel like I'm given a fair shot to demonstrate my skill and knowledge to beat a killer, instead of winning a guess a person with an hour on the game could've made through luck.

Much like i enjoy mindgaming at pallets or loops instead of chasing someone in a straight line through a deadzone.

Skill and knowledge will feel fun and rewarding.

Guesses and 50\50s are unhealthy and boring. They remove skill

  • @AgentTalon said:

Feel like I need to be a part of this convo just to say that stretched res is an exploit and so is DPI manipulation.

On topic I haven't played as much as many people on here but I get a solid hour or two a day and I have only played against Blight 2 times in the last 2 months. Maybe it's because I only really started playing survivor and I'm only rank 7 right now but I just don't see him at all in lower/middle ranks.

I respect hearing a newer players voice on this.

And many people just repeat the streamers points of view sadly.

Blight isn't seen much at lower\mid ranks and is only getting more popular since they raised his pov.

  • @GaryFookinKing said:

This thread is stupid, blight has one of the most enjoyable counterplay mechanics in the game as it's not just a guessing game. The interaction of trying to put stuff infront of you and him when hes using his power makes for enjoyable gameplay as both sides have an equal chance if one outplays the other.

You can't tell me what i enjoy? I'd rather vs Nurse or Spirit than cane guy.

  • @VexTheHex said:

Blight isn't fun. It's just the hivemind of this forum has taken to that outlook. He's nowhere near as brainless to use as Freddy or Spirit while not being as busted as Nurse. But good Blights especially on maps that favor him like Shelter Woods is not enjoyable to face. Not saying I want him nerfed, but the forum has recently taken a Golden Child outlook on him lately that I don't quite agree with.

Agreed. I enjoy bringing hot takes to the hive mind and being insulted or called a troll\survivor main. It amuses me because I'm just trying to be objective. Mark my words, Blight's hate is growing quickly especially after Fredophile's defeat.

You know why you can't? Because I didn't say anything arrogant. This is an insecurity within yourself talking. Honestly at this point it's kind of getting entertaining.

    Ok mastermind.

Enjoy being life's main character and acting so intelligent. Mr protagonist.

You've made me hate blight 100x more now :D \s

In all seriousness though, if you won't stop acting like a know it all even though i probably have more hours than you, please stop commenting on my posts since you've added nothing but toxicity. I'm done acknowledging you. Please try going outside.

  • @KayTwoAyy said:

@Dweet_Unfairfield here is a clip demonstrating some Blight counterplay (zero guesswork involved).

This wasn't the best Blight, but he didn't make an huge mistakes in this chase.

For starters, I positioned my body behind the rock in such a way that I could move left or right, depending on which way Blight committed to. Blight decided to end his rush (a good call), so I ran off pallet to begin a full loop around bus. Unfortunately, he thought window would be middle of bus, which led to an awkward start of chase.

I decided to leave bus, which was pretty risky. A better Blight may have tried to punish me in the open space--I wouldn't have minded taking a hit.

He played the jungle gym the same exact way I see every red rank Blight play it, so I had the experience to know I could vault the window 3 times without throwing the pallet.

    https://streamable.com/qx2p0b

Thanks for the video and effort. You got much better rng than i ever do on autohaven forest.

That Blight was kinda sus though, he didn't seem to know he can hit through any window because his busted hitbox and thankfully you won the 50\50 that he wouldn't exploit.

    I appreciate it though :)

  • @JimbusCrimbus said:

I rarely see Blight play the way you subscribed. Good save saying "Except Scott" though. I'm sure he cares about your lips on his backside.

Eh he just refuses to exploit, and uses off meta (for blight) perks because every big brain blight main seems to run the same 4 perks, add ons and play the same.

Opinions exist bruh. Jeff or not, i disagree with much of what scott says, i just think he's the best example of a fair blight player.

Then look at xeno if you want to see the average rank 1 blight.

Same 4 perks, Rediculous stretched res on super low graphics with constant exploit abuse and insulting vhat\his opponents regularly.

Many of the blights i play act just like him and live to slug at 4-5 gens. Not saying all do, but i hate blight more than freddy, slinger and spirit for a reason.

  • @FondaDix said:

I guess my counter to Blight being op is that if you think Blight is op, then Legion is very op as they can leap windows and pallets and it's shut down by loops that Blight has issues with.

They can't down you with their power, are barely faster than survs, run more diverse perk builds and have no op add ons

I appreciate the attempt mah dude. Maybe Legion is just too strong to actually kill Survivors and simply let people escape.

Do you know the definition of boasting? I don't think you do. Because if you did you would be able to quote exactly what I said that was boastful. But you can't do that.

Now if you have something intelligent to add then let's hear it. Or are we just stating opinions on here like I'm supposed to care about yours?

Please stop acting so big brain. Its very arrogant and just kinda proves the points made about forum killer mains being so.. egotistical.

I thought we moved past this.

You're not as intelligent as you think. And not life's main character.

Agreed the exploit isint very skillfully that makes him more of monkey man with stick than someone who has to prepare and option select

Mastering a killer is learning their limits and every thing they can and can't do. And destroying with what they offer.

Not just monke man with stick who removes any Survivor skill input.

    Glad you agree :)

Blight in my opinion was the most balanced released killer in dbd history. I get your frustrations over people parroting over streamers, but that's besides the point isn't it?

I picked up blight for the first time this week and his power is actually incredibly hard to use. I managed to win 2/3 games yesterday if I remember correctly but made a lot of mistakes. I don't use j-flick, and it's getting fixed so nobody will use it anytime soon. The fact that some streamers use stretched res doesn't have to do with playing blight, it has to do with the streamer. He has a good amount of counterplay since there are some loops that his power is generally useless and he's a 115% ms killer, for example the truck loops or the one pallet loops with one side bigger than the other (dunno how to rephrase it, if you want an example I'll send a pic). He takes a lot of skill to play and even more to master. I don't find him oppressive at all even as a survivor, since the blight might over-rush and lose a lot of distance. But it could be just me you know, I love going against nurses so I'm generally a weird cookie.

But saying blight is the most oppressive killer with no counterplay is incredibly incorrect imo. I understand if you don't like him, but he is counterable, unlike spirit and deathslinger that u mentioned before.

Btw his thematic and visuals are also neat, his skins are incredible and his tr music really boosts his character imo. I find blight as a really cool character design, not to mention the lore he brings.

Sorry if i came across as snarky. Just tired of massive brained blight mains insulting me every time i dare dislike 1 of the 20+ killers even though I've complained twice about him total on here.

Not saying you're one of those.

I just despite everything about this Blight on my fun over the last 5 years.

  • @onemind said:

What's there not to like about him. the same thing as nurse the. Bugs mostly sliding off objects

You have speed, fair control over his power a power that can down and break pallets ect he's 115 so he can be played as a m1 killer on bad maps like lyeres and has a fair counter play similar to oni sharp turns but you have to be quick with multiple reactions he has a 3s recharge per a token used with a 3s stun

The amount of sweaty exploiters that play him, how obnoxious his mains on the forums are, and i hate his design as a personal thing, he just annoys me.

I find him incredibly boring to go against and play as. After 300 hours as huntress i felt like i was still learning as her. Same with Oni.

But after nearly 20 with blight i feel like i just steamroll with no effort unless i get a bad indoor map. But those hurt all killers and survivors. Thanks for not insulting me though. I appreciate open minded people :)

  • @Beefmur said:

I mean he's okay, ultra sweaty Blights can be an absolute unfun nightmare to go against though. Tinkerer is nasty on killers with high mobility like him x.x but this can be said about many killers with similar power like Spirit and Freddy.

Just had one slug at 4 gens and proxy

    Rank 1.

    My team 13, 8, 7

  • @ukenicky said:

All I will say about the topic of Blight is that there's a lot of nasty Blight mains who have a sort of superiority complex and like to shame other Blight players who don't utilize the j flick exploit/tech whatever you wanna call it.

I can't condone that kind of behavior towards your own people like goodness, grow up and learn how to be nice to your fellow killer players??

Ahem, but yes to echo OP's point I'm not sure I really find Blight entertaining to watch. He's actually kind of fun to go against though (Depending on the map). I rank him up there with Billy in terms of funnest killers to play against bcuz when he zooms at you I jump every and that's fun in this game, actually being scared LOL

    I agree so much

BHVR trolled me. Just got a rank 1 blight with 3 slowdown perks who slugged at 4 gens and camped someone to second.

I'm sure the guy who designed survivor movement didn't intend survivor's to be able to spin a killer in order to avoid being hit. How you define a good blight is one that can be easily countered, which is worrying. In your other post, you even show disdain for how often the Blight can USE his power, not just for hitting, but the frequency it comes off of cooldown.

What IS the ideal Blight for you? What would actually make him a killer that would get your approval?

No J flick, collision on his lunge, no slides off stuff instead of slams, a cooler weapon that doesn't sound so lame on hits or misses and better map rng for both sides.

I think blight is just mobile DeathSlinger in his current state

  • The man who designed the Blight said it's unintended and to not get used to it.

Its an exploit. Like stretched res.

A good player can play to limits, but a bad player abuses exploits to eliminate limits.

The validity of a person's statements is not defined by a person's profile picture.

A Blight main will be more biased on the topic of blight being fun.

Much like I'm biased to Oni, Huntress and Yui. But i admit my favoring of characters and bias. Unlike many "rank 1 both sides" gamers in the forum

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2091800#Comment_2091800

Personally I just think the map rng needs to be fixed so that maps play more fluently while still being balanced for both sides instead of swinging to one side of a pendulum or another. Example of ridiculous map rng, Fractured cowshed with all 5 path pallets, and a rancid abattoir or father cambels chappel where shack window points directly at a long wall window. So personally I think the system just needs to be fixed to make it so mass deadzones don't happen but not to the point where each map plays like 2016 dbd or the game.

Map rng facilitates a lot of issues between players so having a blight on a map with less deadzones would probably make people enjoy playing against him more

I think more unsafe loops, z walls, and singular Ls or Ts toward the center. Quantity over quality to reward skill and reduce safe loops and deadzones.

I understand man I really do. I actually used to hate blight on both ends as well. Especially because I was trying to use an xbox controller to use him lol.

That's why I try to get people to really give him a second and 3rd chance a lot. Because he eventually became my favourite and I would just continue hating him if I didn't really stick with it. That's all brother.

And he will be my least favorite for a long time to come.

Its mostly the rng of maps and his "toxic" players that kill him for me

  • @Khar said:

No at no time did I call you a bad new or even insinuate that your a bad noob

Sir you just admitted in a comment above that you only have 11 hours as blight. 11 hours… So no you do not have even close to the amount of hours it requires to learn the ends an ounce of this killer. Whether you are facing him or playing him.

You need to calm down man. It's just the truth that is bothering you so bad that's why your getting very defensive. I'm not being arrogant I'm just telling you how it is.

Fair enough. I don't enjoy play as him or viewing him and i frequently go against him. More than spirit tbh.

And i suggest not acting so arrogant and pretentious as to insult my skill level and insinuate that im some "bad noob" for not liking the most overrated and obnoxious killer (in my opinion) you came in hostile and biased and yes I've enough of your comments and attitude to make a fair assumption i dont want to interact with you unless you get off your high horse.

No one controls map rng, there are maps which are suffering to play as blight and deadzones on maps where its suffering to play against blight, don't hate the player hate the system

Wasn't expecting you of all people to be rational as i see you defend blight a lot. Thank you :D

Map RNG certainly helps my hatred fuel for Blight. But i hate him and everything about him to the core, i just don't like him and think streamers beating him off and lack of encounters with him is why most don't dislike him.

Either way I'm surprised by your comment And thank you for the civility friend. Blight just isn't for me. Hearing the blight debates and fanboys just irritated me. I don't think I'll every enjoy him. But i appreciate your comment.

Buddy as a blight main I can tell you you are wrong. You are just not at the level you need to be yet but that doesn't mean you can't get there as survivor.

I face some serious top level competition and I am a decent blight. Those guys definitely know how to counter me and they do very well with a lot of adrenaline pump to both of our gameplay.

The 1st couple people that commented on this post are right. You just don't have quite the skill yet but you can develop it with many many hours. Stay with it and try not to get frustrated every time it's the blight.

Dude shut up you pretentious... ugh.. your pfp makes your arguments irrelevant and i probably have more hours than most on this cursed game.

I can dislike an overrated and opressive killer without being insulted.

You CANNOT beat a good blight as solos. I am simply pointing out his lack of counter-play and that i find him boring, not unbeatable, but boring and opressive, especially bad with my horrendous map RNG.

You're one of my least favorite forum members and far too biased to be reasoned with. If you're willing to be civil comment on my posts and actually try to sway me, instead of being so arrogant. Until you grow ip, i ask that you do not comment on any of my stuff as anything you say is meaningless to me.

I loathe indoor maps with a passion no matter what role I'm playing.

They're a 100% knowledge check. Have you played this map enough to know all possible places a gen can spawn? Have you memorized all the tiles/rooms/possible layouts that can spawn? If not, have fun spending 75% of the game desperately looking for a gen to do and depip unless you get lucky...

I love hearing a gen being done but i have to walk 45 seconds to get to it because indoor maps are bad.

Those asking for new maps don't realize every post launch map has been garbage.

The instant 50/50s were labeled as not "legitimate counterplay" is the instant this thread delegitimized itself. It's effectively admitting that you're crying about being bad. You basically just admitted evidence of couterplay as evidence that counterplay doesn't exist. The mechanics of DBD is all about 50/50s or a series of 50/50s. The only time this is not the case is when the gameplay has a power that always works in a scenario, or safe/god loops where the survivor can't be hit with the kit that a killer has. This immediately sounds like you want simply knowing how tiles work to be a 100% guaranteed win in a chase, which is the definition of killers having no counterplay to survivor. Do you complain when a killer does a red-light mindgame or Ghostface hides his? It's the same thing.

My other post is asking to add unsafe loops as los breakers and filler to mid map deadzones like Z walls, single Ls or Ts. Non safe pallets.

And less long walls and pallet gyms.

So no. I want more debris, filler and small loops with less safe loops.

Im sorry im not biased to killer or survivor unlike yourself.

Counter-play should be knowele5and skill. Not luck, rng and other crap as it makes the players feel like they have no skill or ways they could play better.

"Oh damn. 3 pallets and nothing but trees, should've played better"

" Oh i guessed wrong but would've been hit either way...darn..."

My other post of the day is asking for less safe loops, and to add z walls, unsafe pallets and single Ls or Ts to mid mad loops instead of mindless ones or deadzones. Thanks for trying to misrepresent and smear me as a biased survivor who wants mindless safe loops though.

    Screw Blight :)

Counter-play should be knowledge and skill not lucky guesses and map RNG. There's a reason this game's comp scene is laughable

A good Blight on Shelter Woods or any other small, open map, is not fun to go against.

Agreed. "Hide or lose los" aren't valid as long as j-flick hits me around the los breakers

More Z-Walls? And have the strongest loop in the game be more prevalent?

It's like you dont want killers to stand a chance!!

True. Shame you've seen through my elaborate ruse

Is it really healthy to discard people's opinions because "I don't like it and they won't show me a video of them playing"

I mean, if you disagree then just say why and move on

Thanks, you're a wise forum dweller friend.

But they aren't wrong though. Keeping something between you and him while correctly guessing which direction he'll take is the best counter. When he's not using his power, he's still an m1 killer, but going against a loop rusher takes alot of adaptability to avoid it. Unfair is a bit of a stretch imo.

And when maps are deadzones and the blight is decent, he will always zone and hit you.

His only counter is stealth, and chases with him will never be fun to me.

Regular Blight does have counterplay. Junk tiles, rock tiles, car loops, houses, pretty much everything that isn't a maze tile, shack or main building. No matter how good a killer is with Lethal Rush, those loops are forced to be played as an m1 killer except in very rare circumstances.

Map rng and guessing isn't counter-play. That is the same as saying use iron will to vs spirit or wake up vs fredophile.
