Thats why i asked for gamepley first but since you're too scared to provide that, I asked for you to show me your rank. Rank barely means anything but if you show me that you're a yellow rank survivor then that's all I need to know that you're hot trash
Again rank means nothing. I play far more killer but i understand the struggles of survivor.
Im a higher devotion than some streamers and have hit rank one dozens of times with or without perks and i never use items\add ons unless found.
Take the hostility elsewhere killer main big brain.

Have to admit, that does sound pretty nice. Z wall does need a use other than a meme structure.
Exactly, use Z walls, I Walls, and even solo L and T walls as los breakers, value for perks, and deadzone fillers that aren't loop tiles

I play on console as well as not sticking to the basic meta a majority of Blights use to keep things spicy. It sounds more like your leaning more towards high DPI PC Blights that can perform 1000x better than we can. To say he's basically Spirit level and as Oppressive as Nurse is absurd.
Im saying he is unfair, and top tier. He can be opressive but not nurse levels
Look at the responses. People tell the same exact counter-play for blight as spirit and nurse.
"Hide, lose line of dight, guess correctly"
Blight makes skill of survivors irrelevant if he's good.

Perhaps, but that doesn't make him more oppressive than Nurse, or even Spirit. And streamers like him, so what? Streamers tend to like higher-skillcap characters. Look at all the streamers that mained characters like Genji and Widowmaker when Overwatch first came out.
And that's just your opinion. I personally like Blight, but we all have our chosen hated killers. Hag is my Blight, I can't stand her. But that's just an opinion. Both are valid.
"High skill cap"
I somewhat agree that base blight is skillful.
But exploit blight isn't.
Only Blight mains enjoy him and the viewers who are never matched with blight tend to parrot their favorite streamers.
You don't see any streamers but nurse mains or tourny squads win as easily as blights do.
He is opressive and currently unfair. Fun or not.

I can definitely see why you'd think Blight is boring to play against. Very low cooldown on his power so you're free to use it whenever you want and you can't really use that cooldown to get anywhere safe as a survivor, if he breaks the pallet he's getting basically a free hit because maps have fun and interactive dead zones everywhere. And then on top of that Ruin-Undying-Tinkerer is ######### stupid on him and so are blighted crow+blighted rat, alchemist ring and compound 33. And on top of THAT you have the exploits which are hopefully getting fixed soon.
So Idk, you might change your mind about him when his exploits get fixed and you'll no longer need to play the "Is this guy gonna cheat" 50/50 anymore.
Learning to play as Blight might also help you when playing against him since you'll know what he can and can't do in most situations.
Agreed friend, nice pfp by the way ;)

If you think that Blight is just as oppressive as Spirit or Deathslinger then I'm sorry but you need to get good. Blight has a lot of counter play like breaking LoS, getting behind objects, windows, Dead Hard, etc. The counter play isn't just going to be handed to you, you actually need to learn and adapt to it. The problem with many people on both sides is that they don't want to have to do that and they want everything to be a cakewalk.
Ah yes duck and get zoned much like slinger mains tell people to do.
Do gens faster to avoid tinkerer and ruin
Get better map RNG to avoid the constant deadzones.
So insightful. Blight is more opressive than slinger, since he has better mobility than billy and oni. :)

But what would be the alternative to 50/50s? I dont think god spot/ dead zone is any better.
More unsafe pallets\filler just for the sake of prolonging a chase if skilled.
Use the lesser tiles more. Like move z walls into the maps instead of purely along edges, and boom less reliance on the 3ish jungle gyms and more diversity of loops.
Right now I'd take anything but the auto haven vallies and forests i get.

Well,i can definetely understand that versing a BBQ,Ruin + Undying,Tinkerer Blight with Alchemist Ring is super frustrating to go against.
But other than that he's pretty ok to go against.
Definetely better than something like Spirit,Twins or Freddy
I prefer all 3. But too each their own.. i think if i got twins as much a blight I'd agree.

I definitely feel your frustration. There's a famous Blight main streamer in my region that plays in the exact way you described: Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer, BBQ + stretched res + filters that make maps look like a doritos facility and for some reason people really like him lol.
He insults his fans too if i believe its who you're mentioning. If not i shudder at the thought of another

Blight is very fun to play as and against. J-flicking blights are very annoying but will hopefully be patched soon. (yes, j-flicking is an exploit, stop crying your not supposed to instantly turn 180 degrees in a lethal rush).
You also said that deathslinger is oppressive? Which makes me think you just aren't a very good survivor. I would love to see your gameplay if a deathslinger keeps getting 4k's in all of your games.
DeathSlinger is the definition of opressive in a 1v1 but bad in 4v1. He can zone and has 0 chase counters beyond predrop and hope he misses.
He isn't as opressive as blight since blight has mobility.
Oni and Billy feel much more fair, i just wish billy didn't get nerfed

I agree, map RNG can screw over any side at any time I think. Killer or Survivor.
I don't think it's anything to do with Blight himself. Bad map RNG for survivors would mean virtually all killers have a much easier time. The only killers who don't really care about map RNG are spirits and nurses for obvious reasons
Blight can be oppressive, but I'd like to ask you for a bit more clarification on specifically why you find him not as fun to face. Is it his mobility? Is it the perks people run on him?
I just wanna gain a better understanding of your POV because Blight's a character I've went from thinking was nothing more than filler to a genuinely good, well designed character
His mobility paired with a lunge that makes no sense, lack of cooldown, and zoning rivaling deathslinger.
Not to mention (nearly)every blight uses ruin and tinkerer which makes a lack of diverse gameplay.

"A good blight has no counters" if you're not gonna show gameplay, the least you could do is show us your killer and survivor rank
You lost me at rank meaning skill man.
All ya need to know is i have every perk on every character bar Ash and Twins.
Ash for a meme with friends and Twins because they are dreadfully boring.
I remember when shack had 2 windows and there were no entity blockers, exhaustion, nurse had 6 blinks and every map was huge
Sorry but rank doesn't mean anything these days. People at rank 1 use noed and self care... -Shiver-

Even though I actually like Blight, this is a great post. Most of us barely see any Blights and the opinion of him being fun came basically from great streamers.
A similar thing actually occurs with Demogorgon. With Rat Liver he has the same zoning potential of Deathslinger and Executioner of tapping M2 to make the survivor lose distance for free, but he doesn't get nearly as much hate as the other two above, probably because he's mostly a meme in the community.
Thank you for not just blindly insulting me or calling me a troll. I could have certainly worded it better but i agree.
Blight just feels so oppressive and his mains never shut up about him. If he was more common i believe he'd be hated.

50\50 guessing
A ton of survivor and killer interaction boils down to 50/50s if you think about it.
And that is unhealthy. But Blight benefits heavily from it.
I believe a good blight has no counters and is dreadfully boring to play against.
A good oni or billy feels fair and fun most games. But Blight just irritates me.
-
@Brokenbones said:
Blight is, for the most part a pretty balanced and well-rounded killer.
For me, a better way of understanding how to play against him is to try playing as him. You'll quickly realise what ways you can play around his power and understand his limitations. Of course, this is with the implication that most blight players are playing him the way he's intended with no exploits like stretched res or J-flick.
I've seen a blight streamer or two with that disgusting nintendo ds looking resolution and doing all that for an advantage is just silly, frankly.
His power's hitbox does seem a bit misleading at times, I can understand that frustration. His swing actually doesn't hit anything other than survivors which allows people to swing around objects with it.
I have roughly 11 hours as blight. I get Hawkins and Yama maps or Badham more than anything else. So i dread playing him play every killer regularly, besides twins.
I do not believe blight is fair.
At least as long as maps can have rng as bad as mine do. 50\50 guesses, are not counters.
Better map rng isn't a counter. I lose to plenty of mediocre teams or killers because map design\pallet density or rarity. Blight benefits heavily from deadzones and i get tonnes.
Lastly i hate the "spin him" argument. His hitbox is absurd and i can play a tile perfect but a jflick into bs hit gets me on the other side of a window already in motion. Spinning his power is pointless as its a 50\50 he guesses correctly

Blight is still really rare to see.An actual good Blight ("streamer level Blight") is basically a unicorn to me
Lucky you. I wouldn't say i see him as much as Freddy but Blight is more common than nurse or spirit in my region\games.
Many just use 3 slowdowns, bbw and alchemist ring. I have no issues with bbq btw, i main Oni and run bbq on everyone. But my point is that almost every blight plays the same, and im sick of the circle jerk streamers have given him
-
@SilentHillOnDvD said:
Bro what? What i just read didn't make any sense and all i got from this is " im too bad to see that blight has clear counterplay". Show me gameplay of your survivor please

"I think he is the most oppressive killer in the game."
Nurse will always be the most oppressive killer in the game. Blight can't ignore the game mechanics like the Nurse can.
But Blight will become more common than nurse with the amount of streamers riding him? The average player is too intimidated by the stigma of nurse's difficulty to try her\learn her.
Blight is incredibly boring to face and more common for me.

Can confirm that going against an expert Blight is a total nightmare, and much more oppressive than Spirit. There’s just no escaping once spotted. Running anywhere is pointless.
He really is a killer that survivors need to be stealthy against.

@Zayn said:
I've been a Blight main since a few weeks after his release. The J-Flick is very counterable if you see it coming. As soon as you turn the corner that he intends to flick around, quickly side-step and run away from the loop. Whenever I 1v1 against competitive players, flicking can become very unreliable unless I'm right up against them with my lethal rush. You literally just turn around and go around the Blight as he's in animation of flicking. He's so fast that he can't stop himself and can't auto-lock onto you since he has already committed to the flick. Flicks are very easy to counter and I have clips of myself going against the top Blight, Ascension and countering him in chase. Anyone who want's proof, I'm more than happy to link the clips.
There are many things you can do against him in chase that throw him off in chase such as tucking into corners so he flies right by you, pre-dropping pallets and holding W WHEN YOU BREAK LOS. Most Blights will expect you to play the loop so while we're pinballing around a Jungle Gym, you can make extreme distance.
I literally have no idea how people can manage to complain about Blight, a killer who's only as good as the player who's playing him just like Nurse is. When there are killers like Spirit, Freddy and Slinger in the game, I don't know why you guys find the need to complain. Get good against him instead of complaining. We really want another nerf to a killer who's fine? Apparently we haven't learned from the Billy nerf.
50\50s aren't counterplay. Blight is loud Spirit or mobile DeathSlinger
-
it takes 30 minutes to learn and involve using 3rd party dpi programs to do something unintended and eliminate counterplay. The creator of Blight calls it an exploit, it is unhealthy, using exploits lowers the skill ceiling, i'd argue people who do it are not skilled but instead sweaty losers who hate fun, look at a Xeno video and tel me Blight is fine in his current state. it needs to go, i main oni and only 90 degree flick, i refuse to exploit for a 180 flick because i have skill mate
-
@Mister_Holdout said:
I actually somewhat agree with you.
Killers that suffer playing on indoor maps are a big turn-off for me.
And as you pointed out, the Blight flick tech is frustrating to play against. Even when you find cover as a survivor, Blight can still hit you with that bs flick mechanic.
All the negative aspects aside, I still think Blight is a pretty fun killer.
ITs not a tech, its an exploit that is unhealthly, im glad to see so many friendly replies tho
-
@DawnMad said:
As a frequent Blight player, I can understand you not liking playing as him. He is very map dependent and powerless against pallets, he is not everyones cup of tea.
He definitely has a lot of counterplay though, survivors just have to get creative just like the Blight has to get creative. Even going behind a tree can turn it into a 50/50 against his power. His 270 flick you mentioned also is very counterable, with many objects it's not good enough to reach a survivor behind it if they are actively trying to evade you. Maybe with the speed addons it can be very oppressive, which should be the case anyways.
Its not a flick, its an exploit using cranked up dpi and must be removed. it gives him a 50/50 and halves his counterplay
-
Ok buddy, Let's just play out games where i spawn in and get stuck, unable to move or use my power. Or a hacker ruins the fun for everyone. I clearly gave my reasons i dc'd, and it was 1 hour, not two. People will just leave dbd for functional games because the devs won't fix legit reasons to dc and punish the veteran players they already neglect,
I'd love to hear of this fabled Slinger counterplay though, and not think "Slinger is a selfish killer ruining fun for the other four players"
-
@Reinami said:
TLDR.
But seriously, its a multiplayer game. When you queue up, you signed up to play a game of Dead by Daylight. It doesn't matter if your team is bad, it doesn't matter if you don't like the killer. It doesn't matter if they camp or tunnel you. If you don't like those things, don't queue up. If you don't like the team you get, play with your friends. Every other online multiplayer game actually has FAR harsher punishments for leavers. In fact, many of them will suspend you for several DAYS to WEEKS if you are a habitual leaver. Personally i think we should do that here too. if someone leaves the game, it literally ruins the game for the other 4 people in the match.
DBD is not like other games, other games with harsh bans aren't pay to win, bug riddled messed plagued with hackers and bad balance. Punish quitters when i don't spawn unable to move/use my power
-
@NomiNomad said:
Look, I get it, going against BS is unfun, but the DC penalty is a necessary evil. Most multiplayer games I can name have a Disconnection penalty, because it's a incredibly selfish thing to do.
I'll put it into terms of something like Overwatch. A very different game, yes, but with Overwatch people can join if another player quits, and the player that quits still gets a penalty.
You can't join a progressing game in DbD. There is nobody to take your place, and rightly so. Once you are gone, you are gone, leaving your team a 3v1. Yes, people get frustrated, but because you get irritated at a videogame doesn't mean we should disable something that is healthy for the game.
If penalties were disabled, people would DC because: They don't like a specific killer, they got hit earlier than they would've liked, maybe they don't like the map, they're trying to de-pip, they just wanna be #########.
They are necessary.
They still dc/hook suicide, now i'm trapped in a 3v1 on a bad map or vs a "boring" killer with no chance to win. The penalty only works in a perfect world. Not one where i spawn stuck in the ground.
Dbd is NOT like most games, stop using that as an excuse for crap bandaid fixes like the dc ban and the awful mmr that will suck all fun out of veteran players
-
@kaeru said:
Dude. You are not the one who have hard time playing against sertain killers. But guess what. If you leave, your team will lose. And you are the whole reason your team lose. And how do you think they feel when they lose not because they played bad, but because they don't have enough hands to make gens in time and escape. You talking about frustrations, but bring frustration to your team like it's not a big deal. That's pretty hypocrite, you know.
I advice you to learn how to play against this killers. If you leave early you never learn and you never get fun time playing against them. Die trying and lose is more satisfying than lose without trying. Am I wrong?
If you don't want to play, you better not play and not ruin games. I tired to report people like you for intended losing and unsportsmanlike conduct.
I've been playing since haddonfield had a killer shack, respectfully I ask you to shut up. Quitters still quit, I get forced into 3v1s constantly. Fix the balance, bugs, hacking, and game design. Then punish quitters. I'm open to hear about chase counterplay for Deathslinger tho, especially since he ruins every survivors fun ;)

Just. Take. The. L.
Really we wouldn't need a disconnect penalty if people could lose with some dignity.
BOO HOO bad things happened to me in a video game. Ragequitting happens in a lot of games and in DBD it's not different, only players can make more excuses.
Let's face it the amount of people legit quitting because they were stuck or their house caught fire is not even a drop in the bucket of people that just do it because they don't want to see themselves lose.
Sorry not sorry. Just play the game and stop acting like you deserve something at the expense of everyone else. When you quit early you ruin the game for everyone. When you quit when you are about to lose you are a sore loser than can't take an L.
Oh yeah because getting stuck from the start of the match and held hostage, or going against a hacker makes me a sore loser who can't handle losses. Grow up, i bet you play toxic af and enjoy ruining fun. Quitters still quit, they just go play other games now, the only ones punished are those who get actual issues. Like stuck in place while survivors refuse to open gates for 15+ minutes to tbag/bilnd you
-
There are many legit reasons to dc, like bugs, hackers, farmers, game breaking glitches etc, people who rage quit, still rage quit, the only people that get punished are those who play the game regualrly and deal with these terrible things.
If the game functioned properly and was balanced i'd be happy to welcome back the penalty, but right now it just kills the game. Smh people trust the devs who have their current rep with a functional penalty and mmr, fools.

We need MMR.
Yeah because I'm sure it will work out nicely just like hit validation, dedicated servers, the ruin Nerf and hillbilly rework. Oh yeah and the DC penalty which does nothing but force me into a 3v1 when one of my teammates Rage Quit or force me to play one of the excruciating unbalanced Maps repeatedly. Fix the hacker problems and all of the bugs. Then add a disconnection penalty. I'm sorry but I don't trust MMR with how the current ranking system performs and how the dedicated servers have been performing. Especially when we don't know how the MMR will work and it will punish people who play the game frequently by giving them nothing but the sweatiest and most boring matches against the same Killers or survivors repeatedly. It will also hurt queue times. Get rid of the ranking aspect of this game entirely. Just have point-scoring categories and throw everyone together. People need to stop acting like this is a tournament competitive game. It's a casual game.
-

Just Revisited this post. After taking a long break from this game and coming back to find it even more of a disastrous nightmare. Insane they keep pushing the DC penalty. I'm not a religious person at all but it seems like the divines are influencing them at this point to show them it wasn't meant to be. Stubborn developers. I cringe every time I see Ethan quoting statistics on the forums when discussing balance. Thanks for your comment now. And inner strength is my favorite Perk btw

@SweetTerror said:
I'm not saying that higher rank matches won't result in sweaty gameplay, but right now the game doles out sweaty matches anyway, and that's without the current MMR up and running on every system.
I play this game casually, and even then I find myself going up against far more experienced players than I should. Perfect example, I played a killer match the other day with Freddy. I'm a rank 13 killer, but the game matched me against an all red rank team who were clearly on comms because they were far too coordinated not to be. I had no business going up against people that far more experienced than myself. Needless to say it was an absolutely miserable match.
Personally I welcome the new MMR because anything would be better than it is right now.
Scott Jund made a great video talking about why even good MMR will kill this game. It sounds great in theory but so did dedicated servers, dc penalty and so on.
I love the devs but if the anniversary cakes were broken for a week, and ruined auras as a "minimal" change, i don't trust their mmr system.
Matchmaking sucks now, but on my tests using Xbox, it has been the worst i have ever seen in 4 years. Plus it will ruin all fun for long term/high level players and content creators.
MMR will ruin DBD, and i am terrified the devs won't listen to the negativity and force it to stay like dedicated servers and the dc ban.
-
MMR on Xbox has lead to the worst matches i have ever had

PC has the largest playerbase and xbox is easier to work with than sony, so they started with xbox.

Being that there's no way to hold a game hostage anymore with EGC existing, no, you shouldn't be banned for it. That being said, regardless of what they did, it was still a dick move; and that's coming from me, a killer main.
Thank you, i felt bad about it, but they all last second swapped, tbagged, emote spammed and did 3 gens in 2-3 mins. I just needed to get one.
