Good grief. This is madness.
Firstly, killers are not meant to expect Hexes to last long periods of match time. Killers need to grow up and accept the high risk that is meant to be associated with them. Sometimes they’ll be cleansed within seconds into the match. It’s SUPPOSED to be this way. Build your load out accordingly to still COPE once a hex is gone. Even if it’s at the beginning of the match.
Secondly, there’s already been a range of totem detection abilities in the game for a ridiculously long period of time. A Rainbow Map with range add ons will always trump Small Game, Detectives Hunch, and Counterforce.
Thirdly, the whole point of Hexes is help the killer buy more time. In the case of Counterforce the survivor needs to find their first totem before they can get ANY use out of it. The perk will then continue to send the survivor the absolute longest distance possible to the next available totem. And THEN the survivor needs to try and remember the approximate location of the revealed totem. If Counterforce gets 1 survivor wasting monumental amounts of time to clear away all 5 available totems, including any Hexes that were being ran, what does it matter?! You have still been granted the time (delay) in the match you were SEEKING from the Hexes in the first place.
Chill out.
If you put way to much investment into a hex, and get upset when they’re cleansed, then don’t run Hexes. Run perks survivors CAN’T remove from your build.
But I think the main point that they are trying to express is that at this point totems aren't a risk. They're deleted. You find one totem and you can just go from one to the next faster and faster. I don't run totems because they are so unpredictable. Now I especially won't.
-
@Firellius said:
Did OP not stop, at any point during that entire essay, to realise that both Small Game and Detective's Hunch are in the game already? Counterforce isn't even the best option for anti-totem.
it is when its cleansing potential gets compounded for each one you finish. You cleanse a totem fast enough already. I run detectives hunch and a map so when a gen is done all the information is saved...You can add a add-on so everyone knows where the totems are.
-
@Squirrel_Thicc said:
This is probably mean but in the spirit of being completley honest, I think noed is very cringe and rewards bad killers.
But isn't it bad survivor play to not cleanse totems? I myself don't run noed as totems have the habit of being cleansed.

I came in expecting a complaint post about how diversity ruins games, because that's just how these forums are. Instead, I got a pretty cool chart and map of where the characters are from. I don't necessarily agree with some of the choices made, like licensed characters shouldn't be included in looking at diversity because the devs can't do anything about that, Jane, while definitely of latin descent, is American (her lore puts her father's house in New Jersey and her archive makes a big deal about her wanting to just be considered American), and Jamaica isn't part of Africa, so Adam should be put in a Caribbean section if you're going to do that. But other than some of these small nitpicks (and other things you might have forgotten such as Elodie's parents being from Madagascar), this was well done.

First paragraph of Trapper's archive firmly roots him in Seattle, Washington.
Oh I'll have to take a look. I may have missed that. Thanks.
-
I've always been curious about where The Trapper is actually from. They gave him a Skin that's a reference to My Bloody Valentine which is a old Horror film from the late 70's that's set in a small mining town in Nova Scotia. Kinda wonder if the Macmillan estate is in NS, would kind of be nice to have a stage that encorperates beaches and maybe a lighthouse.

Nah survivors should always have a counter ro camping, even end game camping. You're not entitled to that one kill.
Not camping when you hook them and the pull them off in your face. What's a killers counter to borrowed time? Seems like they dont get one...

Yeah, such a weird situation.

There is a reason why 80% of the killers right now run Hex Ruin/undying, enough said.

Hey pal, I didn't assume anything, at no point did I say or direct the comment directly at you. Stop internalizing things people say in conversations they didn't even know you were part of. The only thing I've noticed is that you're on here crapping on people, Also I never mentioned Freddy.

Im just trying to figure out why does everyone want a specific gender for a killer or survivor it shouldn't matter if a character is just a male or female and not lgbt related I mean its just a game. Idk why people want to get deep down into the killer/survivor lore. Im not saying im for or against people who support lgbt because I respect people regardless of their gender so dont think that this is an attack its just a question. Maybe the devs could put out cosmetics that represent that particular community so that those who support it can be happy i guess idk. Even though Im straight this is just something I wanted to know so again dont think im attacking people.
The reason why you dont understand is because you are (I'm guess) represented in the game. When you're playing a game no matter if you're a minority or not there is a reason you choose the characters you do. Especially in a game where the characters are just a skin. From what you're saying it makes no difference if Claudette or Jake or Tapp is in the game, The game could be all Megs and Dwights and that would be acceptable. 90% of games have heterosexual white males or females as the main cast. I think there is value in wanting a diverse cast. Behaviour even said last year that in the past they hadn't taken a stance on the sexuality of their characters to be inclusive of everyone, but in the end said that this wasnt true the because they had created the full cast thinking they were straight.
Seeing a minority in a game symbolically says you exist, that you have value that your life experiences and struggles are worth a damn. In the end you can say that a person's sexuality or any other element of their identity that makes them a minority shouldn't matter. But the only reason anyone would say that is because it doesn't matter to you. I'm a gay white Male and I think there is value in having diversity, black females, Asian men or people who dont identify as a specific gender. In the end having representation makes the game and the community richer.

it's not a get out of jail card, yeah it sucks when it happens at EGC but Bt is still doing what the perk is designed to do which is to counter camping.
But in the egc you kinda have to camp if you want to secure the kill. Short of running noed, and I know how survivors feel about noed.

There were so many cool and different concepts made by the community during these last couple of art-contests and yet all we get is something that pales in comparison to those incredible fan-contributions. How hard can it be to finally give us some proper fanservice? Is it too much to ask for a pretty or healthy Plague skin?
I am extremely disappointed with the way BHVR has handled this. No good cosmetics, no QoL changes and still no chase-theme for this killer. You better do something about this soon or else she'll continue to remain the least played killer in the entire game like your previous statistics said.
I kind of agree. I like her cosmetics, but I think it would be neat to have a skin that really shows how she is a being who's existed has predated all but the entity. Itd also be neat if she had a cosmetic that would display her worship of the entity.

I guess my main concern with barrowed time is downing a survivor at the end of the game heat the gate. You hook them and with barrowed time they get to walk out the door. This is not a uncommon occurrence. I dont think folks should have a get out of jail free card.

Was that warranted? Did you wake up this morning and thing, jeez I need to put on my big boy pants and go to the form and tear someone down? I swear, Killers are just hypocrites. They complain about the Survivor-Meta being stale ("Every Survivor uses the same Perks!"), then another Perk might be Meta, but this is also not alright.
Just say that you want Survivors to have only weak Perks when you are against buffing Perks to become Meta.
Let alone that if you really have problems with Tracking against Lucky Break/Iron Will, equipping Stridor will counter both Perks (since Iron Will gets countered and with Sounds, it does not matter if Lucky Break hides anything). Two Perkslots negated for one Perk Slot sounds pretty good.
naaaw, that's an out and out lie. what we want is to have survivors be creative. You have absolutely no idea how boring and taxing it is for killer mains to come across the same 6 perks over and over again. Yes, I know that a lot of killers run Ruin Undying(i do not) But usually killers try and shake it up. This is not so for survivors.

"just because a killer can't do well against red ranks, doesn't mean that they're easy to use."
I never said that. Also, all killers can do well in red ranks.
"Freddy and Twins over-reward players for doing simple things, sure these simple things won't apply to good survivors, but against a non red rank, it's an easy win"
The things Twins are doing is not "simple things". Also, winning at low ranks is pretty meaningless as then they're just losing because their bad. We don't balance around bad.
I feels like folks who say The Twins are simple have never really played them. You're basically playing chess with Charlotte and Victor. You can easily be punished for any wrong move. It's a shame how some folks can't see their difficulty level.
-
Agreed. The Twins have a very high skill ceiling. Like you can proxy camp with them, but what is the fun in that? There is more value in setting up traps with them where folks get stuck between Victor and Charlotte. I'm new to using The Twins, but I figured I'd start maining them since no one uses them.

They were all a mix of dark black (including skin) and silver, and it's a real shame they were never added.

Because gens. In fact. Do go by to fast. People don't like slugging and hook camping. But sometimes its neccesary to even slow the game down. And your scenario...? If you even find your first chase and commit for 30 seconds max..That's probably 1 minute in to the game (60 seconds) and a survivor without a tool box or anything can repair a gen in 80..So just at the start you can lose 3 gens before even one hook. That doesn't sound like a problem ?
It's not only what you mentioned but I know from when i play survivor i usually spawn right next to a gen. It's happened a number of times I didnt have to move at all and just started to work on the gen. If that happens to me, how many other survivors does that happen to. Shouldn't survivors have to find gens as opposed to just spawning on top of one.

What do you think the RE chapter is for? To hook a bunch of new players to play killer. Then once they realize how the game is they will leave and the devs will come out with another half baked killer to repeat the process. Literally all a chapter is good for is boosting the player basis for a week.
That almost sounds disingenuous.

You need to play during the day the lobby are a bit better but at this hour forget that most of the survivor are with friend and because the game have a lack of killer they need to get the lower rank killer for them. Honestly like you said you should just go in a corner depip until you reach rank 15 and hope you play against rank 10 and 8. Or you could just play survivor and get into those 10 minute queue
Like I dont think I'm a terrible killer. But jeez its impossible to get good with a killer you're trying to pick up if you're only against try hards. There is nothing to learn from that. I was close to ripping a phone book in half.

Be charitable. There's quite a few saying don't touch him at all. I myself, for the sake of those that find his M2 spam annoying would like a tradeoff to weaken the zoning but give him more mobility (his current weakness).
We say "spam" it's not as if it's a machine gun. There is a fair amount of time between shots. He actually has to go through the reloading animation between each shot.

I've seen many threads about Deathsligner and how unfun or oppressive he is in one vs one. From personal experience playing as him and vs him I've notice that he's far from being as oppressive as people say for a couple of reason.
First let's that about ingame cool-down:
- ADS have a 0.15s Activate/Deactivate delay
- Firing have a 0.5s delay -> that delay is from the moment you click on the attack button to the moment he fire
- Projectile speed is 40m/s aka it take 0.25s for 10m and 0.45 at 18m (max distance)
I think we can agree that most of the time you'll get shot at 10m or more distance wise which mean a delay of 0.15+0.50+0.25= 0.90s from the moment Caleb start aiming or 0.75s delay from the moment he click the attack button.
In addition to this delay the killer has to factor in the lag/latency.
At base minimum the Caleb player have to predict where the survivor is gonna be in 0.75s after he click the attack button + latency which can give enough time for a survivor to drop a pallet or vault a window allowing the survivor to not get downed. Also keep in mind that his hit box is really small.
Now for the other cool-down:
- 0.5s for successful Spear Hit
- 1.5s for missed Spear Hit
- Reload time of 2.75s
- Broken Chain Stun penalty of 4s
Now we may disagree on how strong he is overall but it's quite clear that adding even the tiniest cool-down would add a lot over an entire game.
Personally I wouldn't mind having more cool-down for ADS in exchange for lower firing delay
He also get highly punished for a missed Spear Hit & Broken Chain Stun, more than any other killer. Maybe we could lower these cool-down if his initial ADS take somewhere between 0.5-1.0s.
Is it not enough that he has to watch the animation of the missed shot but also has to reload his gun?

agreed. I'm a killer main, but also a red rank survivor and I'm surprised how many killers I come up against who will down me when I get pulled off the hook and don't think I have DS...which I don't since it's a waste of a perk slot.

What doesnt add up? I took a month off, came back, got back to red rank and did a challenge without using any gen regression perks. I have over 3500 hours in the game. Getting 10 straight 4k without them doesnt mean I have plenty of "potatos", It's called knowing when to leave chases, knowing how to pressure multiple survivors at once, knowing how to force 3 gens, knowing how to loop tiles in order to force survivors into directions you want them to go.
People act like it's impossible to win as a killer and that's simply just not true.
Oh jeepers creepers, give me a second I need to search my pockets to find you your medal. ಠ_ಠ I'm a killer main and there is nothing more off-putting than hearing this kind of bragging. It adds nothing to the conversation to say "I'm good look at my success" It totally undercuts other folks who are having difficulty and helps no one. In the end what actual response were you looking for? "Oh right! I never thought about it like that. It's so easy, I won't be terrible at killer anymore, you've opened my eyes"

There are built in counters to Franklin's. Personally I jump in a locker to get grabbed but you can also drop your item if you're about to be hit. Someone might steal it though so you can also hide it in a corner until you need it or after you use it.
Do any of those guarantee you'll keep your item? No, but items are not some precious resource and should not be treated as such. I go into every match expecting to lose my item, there's no reason to get attached to them.
I'll be totally honest, I always forget to jump into a locker if I wanna save an item. I should do that more.

Franklin's dropped items despawn after a certain amount of time.
Sorry clarify, they don't vanish immediatly. Usually, your to busy chasing folks to camp out an item. So it's really on the survivor to just run back and scoop it up.

I also think that the totem counter should've be relegated to perks like Thrill and Small Game. Just make it part of the base HUD for killer and survivor.
I think making it basekit would be too powerful. I don't mind small game giving a totem counter because survivors have to equip the perk to have the counter. It was designed to find totems so it makes sense that it helps. If it was base kit then it's a flat buff to all survivors. At least making the counter tied to small game forces them to take off 1 meta perk to get the benefit.
You say that but with a SWF team the whole team will now know how many totems are left if one person is running it. The information is to powerful for a SWF team.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment here that Franklin's is fine. If you want your item, go and pick it up. It's not as if it vanishes. Killers need some sort of counterplay to the keys and flashlights and toolbox.
