Reason 347:
He fools the survivors in to believing he's an actual Pyramid and attracts them with the prospect that he may contain ancient treasures.
-
I must admit, that survivor music is pretty dull.
-
It's possible, know people who play Fortnite and it works perfectly. I just get a feeling it won't happen in DBD. Hope I'm wrong.
-
I bet we get crossplay, but not carry-over accounts.
-
Hello Survivor.
You have two options.
Attempt to repair the generator in order for you both to have a chance to escape, but risk being chased by a patrolling killer.
Or, you can wait and hope the other survivor is found and killed before you, and hope to find the hatch.
Live or die:
Make your choice.
....seriously it is irritating. It's best to keep looking for them and as soon as you find one, hook them and make sure they don't get unhooked. You then can hopefully close the hatch and activate EGC, unless the other survivor has found the hatch which is probable. At least that ties up the game.

Oh no I hate Bobby even more than Jeff.
Do I agree Bobby was a lot more active an actually tried immediately compared to Jeff who basically just whined at the person in the trap for a solid 5 minutes whilst giving them the smug I'm better than you face.
At least Jeff genuinely felt remorse when he realised he ######### up and basically got the woman and Timothy killed Bobby just blamed the people in the trap.
Yes Bobby please tell the dead woman more how she should have been quiet when literally having a hook ripped out from her stomach despite the fact that getting punctured in the leg made you scream like a bi*ch
Despite what this stated above I can at least understand why people despise Jeff
In regards to Jeff...there was no personal urgency for him to immediately assist the subjects: he had deep hatred toward them after Jigsaw explained why they were there. He didn't share in their physical suffering (although he was injured whilst retrieving the key in the freezer and was at risk from being shot when going for the key for Timothy). There was no decision to seriously injury himself in order to rescue people he not only didn't care about, he held a deep grudge against. It was all a moral dilemma on his part. Torn between extracting the vengeance he had sought for so long or allowing another human being to live.
In regards to Bobby. He was a complete fraud. He exploited real Jigsaw victims at the self-help meetings and gained fame and wealth by selling his story. He even kept the truth from his own wife (who he met after he cooked up the whole surviving victim story).
He had no ill-feelings against those he encountered during his test, they were just the opposite: people who he loved and depended on. So naturally he would react with more haste to assist them: he didn't want them to suffer or die.
I can understand Jeff's rage (even though he makes a disastrous choice in the end), but Bobby is just a terrible person.

It's more new characters rather than new versions.
For example, and I mean strictly as a pure example, having Jason Voorhees be a legendary skin for Trapper (in our dreams).
Obviously it's only likely to have characters from the same franchise as legendary skin alternatives. So maybe Karen Nelson and Allyson Nelson (Laurie Strode's daughter and granddaughter respectively, in Halloween 2018) could be legendary skins for Laurie.

The main points with a he spent so long diddling about whining to the people rather than actually doing anything for example the first woman he literally could have saved her very easily if you didn't spend a good long while yapping to her about how she was a bad person for not doing something that let's be honest she wasn't obligated to do.
Hell even Amanda who was on her people don't deserve a chance mindset couple with her already fragile state with John's condition cried because this chick died.
Jeff is hated because he's literally the only person who run the gauntlet who has spent so long nothing about but absolutely pointless crap that he has got in everybody killed say what you want to about someone like Bobby but at least he went straight into it he failed but he didn't waste time.
Oh Bobby...now there was one first class douche.
-
This gets up my nose.
-Survivors encounter a new killer.
-Survivors are unaccustomed to the new killers power and abilities.
-Survivors get slaughtered in early matches.
-Survivors cry about how 'OP' the killer is.
-Killer gets big nerf.
-Survivors celebrate and exploit the killer's post-nerf weaknesses.
-The killer is far less effective and is used far less.
-Another success story.
-
I do like Silent Hill: the games, imaginary and even the films.
I'm not sure it 'influenced the whole video game world'. Resident Evil was released three years before Silent Hill, and Resident Evil was influenced by the game Alone In The Dark, first released back in 1992.
Even though I believe Silent Hill is a good fit in DBD, I don't believe people should just 'enjoy this great announcement'. If they're unhappy and don't like the prospect of the chapter, let them vent.
I would be worried if people were discouraged from voicing their opinions and told to just be quiet and consume.

I rather not have jeff as a survivor. The guy annoyed me in the third movie due to him holding a grudge for far too long. He couldn't let go of his son's death. I felt for him but still he got mostly everyone killed off in the movie.
He was traumatized and left mentally unstable after the loss of his son and it had consumed him over three years. His obsession is evident when he encounters the three test subjects. He's obviously conflicted to help them at first, with Jigsaw reminding Jeff how each had wronged him. He was reluctant to let them go unpunished and took time in observing their suffering. But he did attempt to rescue all of them, including the man who took his son's life.
One mistake he did make was killing *spoiler* at the end. If someone has just explained to another character how they just lost their game in a really mixed up, unexpected way, and faced fatal consequences...I would be considering everything he said to me with maximum caution.
Obviously, Jeff's anger got the better of him.
-
Well I am disappointed it wasn't who I wanted it to be (Jason, then Pinhead) but the chapter does look good, the killer and the map at least. The killer chase music is great also.
Because it was announced that the upcoming chapter would be licensed and iconic, the conspiracies spread like wildfire. The devs were sending out red herrings to spice up speculation. The 23-hours a day online YouTubers took time out of their busy schedule of live-streaming while squealing and making baby voices to post multiple prediction videos. Everyone had an theory of what the new chapter was, myself included.
But from now on, I'm avoiding speculating extensively about new licensed chapters. It's not worth getting your hopes up.
I'm a Silent Hill fan and the franchise is a good fit. If it was just revealed without any fanfare or "It's a licensed chapter" announcement, I would of been totally happy.
-
Oh well.
I'm watching a horror any way.
Night!

The reception around Silent Hill and the fact that people don't think its a "major horror license" proves that this community is just full of 12 year olds.
I like the Silent Hill franchise. I also like the Resident Evil franchise. But if either were revealed as the new chapter, I wouldn't be as pleased as if we got Jason, Pinhead or even Alien.
Silent Hill is good, but not a mind-blower. But that's my opinion. I think Silent Hill is a great fit for the game, it's just there were other franchises I was hoping for. But not that bothered. Just feels like when I was a kid at Christmas and opened all my presents.
-
He debuted in Silent Hill 2.
Many here don't realise he's not a single character: there were at least two Pyramid Heads in Silent Hill 2, meaning it could a member of a 'mob' like Demogorgons.
They were very slow, first using a huge blade called the Great Knife and later with a spear.
There isn't much of a backstory with the Pyramid Head characters. They're just residents of Silent Hill who stalk, torture and execute their victims.
In Silent Hill 2, Pyramid Head is about the same height as a normal man with a relatively average body. In the film representation, Pyramid Head is a towering colossus of muscle.
-
I like Silent Hill, but people are not obliged to be 'grateful'.
If they're disappointed, they're disappointed.
We don't have to be consooooomers who love everything a company releases. People have their own opinions.
Even though the chapter does look good...I'm disappointed. I was hoping for Jason or Pinhead. But oh well, life goes on.
-
Pyramid Head and the Silent Hill franchise are a good fit...but the way this was trumped up we were expecting someone more universally renowned.
The killer looks scary, the map looks creepy and Silent Hill 2 was a pretty good game...but I am disappointed with this reveal.
In a month's time nobody's going to care anyway.
Oh well.
-
Well I think that covers various characters so we're good.

Exactly. I have watched the originals so many times, I think I watched the remake only once.
Also, I get a sneaking suspicion if we do get Jason, it'll be the remake version.

Just off topic, can I just ask, is Robocop free in Mortal Kombat?

I have honestly no idea.

I usually get excited for licensed chapters, if I am familiar with the franchise.
If not, I usually try and watch some of the media associated with the character.
Luckily I am familiar with all the licensed chapters, except Stranger Things. So I binged all three series and enjoyed them.
I have also never played a Left 4 Dead game, and know nothing about Bill.

I've been WAITING for actual classic horror. Creature from black lagoon, nosferatu, mummy, etc. I'm surprised they havent yet considering theres basically no copyright issues.
I wouldn't mind seeing a wolfman/werewolf.

You do realize you left out allllll the classic characters right? Dracula, Wolfman, mummy, creature from BL, Frankenstein, etc. My $ is on one of them. Time for a change, and a different style killer too. Jason definitely will not be anything new. Just a quick cashgrab
I don't mind all the old Hammer Horrors etc, but I would be really disappointed if it turns out to be one of those guys.
I bet there would be bloody uproar on here! π
-
Yeah me too, I've had it for the last day or so.
It should get sorted out soon.
-
It's actually a good point.
I will be very happy and totally shocked if Jason is the big reveal.
-
Mr Bean would be too OP.
It won't be Hoffman, sadly. That would brilliant. But I'm of the opinion he should of been in over Amanda...but I've had that argument so many times.
Predator had his own game released about a month ago, so you can count him out.
Slenderman is a real marmite with fans...I'm not sure he'll ever be included.
Pyramid Head is also not a valid candidate, although he was a rather creepy villain in Silent Hill.
Pennywise may be difficult as Stephen King is protective about including his creations and property in games, apparently. But wasn't Pennywise originally teased for Fortnite? He's a maybe.
Alien has been overexposed in games, in my opinion. But is a possibility.
Jason is my ideal inclusion, but there might be too much legal red tape to include him. I am hopeful however.
Pinhead wasn't listed and he could actually be likely.
But my pick is Candyman...
-
I hate going against Death-Slinger. Very irritating experience. Doctor is a pain in the butt too.
-
It's not Predator.
-
Easy lads and ladies, we'll all know in a few small hours.

Yeah in tge case of both its a case of less is more.
I get what you're saying, of course thd back half of tge franchise fell off. Thats true of my franchises. My only point is while not amazing, most of them followed tge same formula as the original, or very close to it anyway. And I enjoy them personally.
I remember one that was ok...I think about a train full of dead people or something? I started watching Hellworld but it got removed from Netflix before I finished it.
It just seemed Pinhead was there in the later films, but not really doing anything meaningful.
It could actually do with a really decent reboot. I would be open to that.

Pinhead was only in the original for like 7 minutes totoal. Seriously.
But his presence was impactful and meaingful. He had a more involved in depth role in Hellbound and he's the central antagonist in the third film (while the character is conflicted).
How about this: Jaws, widely regarded as one of the greatest, most iconic horror/suspense films in history.
The shark's screen time? 4 minutes.
-
For me, Jason and Pinhead are the only killers who I would be 'excited' about. Jason ideally as it would a real shock for him to be in, but Pinhead would be a great fit.
Candyman would be good, but I'm not as invested in the franchise than I am with Friday 13th and to lesser extent, Hellraiser.
Alien has been over exposed in games and the novelty has gone stale for me.
I'm not particularly excited at the prospect of Pennywise.
Pyramid Head would feel like somewhat of a cop-out. He would be a nice inclusion but he's in no way a 'star attraction'.

In the comics, Kirsty becomes the hell priest/pinhead. It's pretty wicked. And in the Scarlet Gospels, the detective guy from Lord of Illusions takes on Pinhead in a bid to stop him from taking over hell. There's also been some crossovers between the cenobites and the night breed. There's so much to the world, it's awesome.
I've always been a Nightbreed fan.
I have often thought how cool it would be to have Dr Decker as killer, Boon as survivor and Midian as a map.
But the chances of this ever happening are minuscule π
-
Hoping to get through another day's work without being coughed or sneezed at and manage to walk, avoiding the dozens of dog-walkers and joggers, to my temporary accommodation.
...and then find out what the new chapter is.
-
Well how would they do the map?
The house that Kirsty, her father and her evil stepmother move in to in the original film? I don't think so.
Maybe they could go for the hellish Labyrinth with Leviathan looking down at you...but that's too much like the Entity.
We will see later.

You bring up some VERY good points, especially lore wise but, just on a personal level, I most certainly havemy preferred characters but that's just me
Well the main elements with a character inclusion are suitability, demand and availability. Then of course the understanding that they'll generate revenue.
I agree lore is not essential. People are buying the popular killer, not really for their backstory as detailed in the character profile.
