Prestige allegedly gives you rarer items. But I've not had any luck on having better items in my prestiged characters

Agreed.
I'm getting really tired of this "survivor needs to know when she is phasing" stuff. No you don't need to know when she is phasing. The whole purpose of her power is to be confusing and force mistakes. If you know EXACTLY when she is phasing then you can always apply the optimal counter play. If you aren't sure, you have to take something less optimal but more safe, unless you want to guess and take a risk.
Look people, what you need to do when she stands still is to act like she is BOTH standing still and phasing. This sidesteps this entire issue altogether. You end up making plays that counter BOTH tactics at once (when available obviously, sometimes you have to take more of a risk). Do this and I promise you will never fall for the stand still trick again. You will escape more chases. It's really not rocket science. I honestly can't even remember the last time I fell for the stand still trick.
Another important thing is to realize what she is actually capable of in phase walk. That means knowing the distance and speed that she can move in a single phase and tracking when she uses her power. If you do that you will know where to run to in order to make it the most difficult for her to hit you out of phase walk.
I was going to comment under the 2 hour video but... one of the earlier games on Mother's Dwelling a David uses the super strong window at the main structure to get away. COMPLETELY AWAY. This is a really smart move. He realized that there is absolutely no way she could meet him on the other side of the window in a single phase walk. He knew she was almost definitely following him. You vault this window, she can't do anything about it. Now granted this window is very strong, borderline broken, for all killers, but you can do this with almost any window, just how you do it depends on your and her positioning. This window just works no matter what. And while he could probably go around if he predicted it long before he used it, that's a big risk because it would use her entire power and there is plenty of room for the survivor to sneak away or something.
But when it comes to "tells" just stop. Please please stop. She is not supposed to have one. You aren't supposed to know. As Scott makes very clear, all these "tells" are clearly bugs, and inconsistent ones at that. If you are relying on them for info it's just going to hurt you, both because you will fail more whenever it gets fixed and because you might not see it and make the wrong read since it is inconsistent.
Play like she is doing both at once. I promise it works.
Can I like, give you a hug?

Thanks for clarifying these as I wasn't sure myself, despite being a Spirit main.
I do wish her shards would glow brighter or she does her hand animation when going into a phase. And before anyone says, sound cues that she's using her power is going to be the death of her. There's absolutely no reason for her to use her power if a survivor knows for sure what you are doing. Keyword there being for sure.
Spirit's whole gimmick is her unpredictability, so being able to predict her 100% of the time would defeat the purpose of her power. It needs to be subtle but pretty obvious if you pay attention.

I'm also Tier 44 and I've finished all the challenges.

They would only appear when she appears, never during her power.
It'd mostly just be used so survivors who successfully evade her know what they did to evade her, and for the survivors who go down they will see what she did so they know how they went down, instead of her just popping up in their face and getting shanked with zero feedback as to what she did during her phasing.
With it, perhaps survivors will feel a little less frustrated when they see feedback on what happened and why, instead of being left completely left in the dark.
I think the only way this would nerf her is if the Spirit player moved the exact same way again and again and again and again in the same match and a survivor who saw her scratch marks notices and takes advantage of that.
I can agree with this when you put it that way, it wouldl force players like me to play more unpredictably and I like that. I like the random jumpscares I give people ^^

How would they effect her power if they only appeared after she does?
All it would do is show the path the Spirit took AFTER she finished using her power, not during.
If it's after she finished using her power, then it's a pretty useless telltale. If it's during her phase, then it would killl her.

But you pay if you want, this not going broke the game, not going be a "pay to win", only make a "BOOST" for some peoples don't have patience or time to farm BP in the game all days, and can play only in weekend, and want so much your survivor or your killer with P3 and All Perks or Unlock perks for others killers/survivors, buying a new DLC, and make a P3 LV50 with your EXTRA BLOODPOINT.
Everything you said is what AAA Executives in the Gaming Industry want to happen and make normal.
While this game has a horrifically long grind, you should not be able to pass it by paying 100$. It's literally pay to win. You are paying to get all the perks in the game without putting the time into it.
You're paying to get Ultra Rare and Very Rare addons that can be broken to go up against.
You're paying to basically max out every character, thus defeating the purpose of a grind in the first place.
-
I don't think this will go over well with.... Well anyone.
What you are describing are pay to win mechanics. What you're basically saying is that you can just skip the grind if you fork over 100$.

They should've stored them differently then, have them attached to steam accounts through the inventory like exclusives and anniversary skins are.
Here is the thing. They are attached to the Steam inventory. But it still went missing.
So even with that they can't be sure it will stay in your inventory.
I myself have had my Chuckles mask go missing from my inventory, I sent a ticket and I had to wait a couple of days before I could get it back.
If this is the best way to deal with customer support tickets (because they will only be doing this if it's a real problem for them), then it should be done this way.

Yes maybe they shouldn't have the skins randomly dissapear from players?
The way they were stored caused the game to randomly remove them. I don't think even the best developer in the world can forsee something like that happening until it happened. So the best course of action is to give everyone the exclusive cosmetics. Basically making it permanently for everyone.
-
I'm pretty sure her phase sound is only mute inside the TR radius. It's not a blanket number as perks like Distressing that affects how large your Terror Radius is will still mute the phasing sound inside the Terror Radius.

Maybe they should've thought about making it so skins that people earned didn't randomly dissapear so they have to be given to everyone.

Tier 70 on the Archives.

Because exclusives is now for everyone it's no longer fun?
How does that work?

BHVR is giving out the skins to everyone. Including Golden Feng since they don't want these skins to stay exclusive for much longer.
People are furious because they feel like the skins will now either be worthless or has little to no value because everyone has it and will be wearing it.
-
I've seen survivors DC even when we are absolutely demolishing the Spirit
The person that got downed was down after 3 gens. But someone still DCed just because they heard the phasing sound.

As are all markets in the whole world, do you suggest the whole world just stops trading and selling things between eachother?
I'm not getting into this.. But if you can't see why a skin being sold for over a thousand dollars is ridiculous I can't help you..

There are csgo skins worth over 3k, this is hardly as bad.
And we all know how terrible and predatory that market is.
-
Then you're seriously misguided in thinking that DIGITAL PIXELS costs over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
-
Then are you seriously suggesting you want to keep the black market alive?
A market that can sell something like Golden Feng for over 1000 dollars?

I dont know why they removed collision. I didnt even noticed free hits bcoz of that. Good spirits go more for sound I think.
well at least without collision they cant body block you anymore in phasewalk. This will be fun xD
I see no collission as a buff rather than a nerf, honestly. Makes bodyblocking pallets much more easier.
-
Is Ghostface underrated? Because he is the only killer I genuinely am afraid of other than Spirit.
Not afraid to lose, afraid to see, because he is really good at jumpscares.

@justarandy said:
Imo her core issue isn't fixed and I will call it now: survivors will still hate her the same and DC/suicide as often as previously. Maybe less because of prayer beads.
I mean, any killer that can down you with their power is doing to get flak.
Old Nurse, Rework Freddy, Billy like a while ago, the list goes on.
I feel like what's the problem here is that some survivors dislike being put into the Injured state before a chase. I mean who would when you had little time to react?
But that just means the killer got the drop on you, and they'll use that to their advantage.

Because of the archives you will see a lot of trapper. Not a fact, true, but definitely unfun for the majority of survivors otherwise they won't make these changes.
And these changes are fine in my opinion. I will say however that what most survivors want is to know exactly when she is phasing.
The problem with that is that she can't use sound ques or obvious animations that tells everyone that she is phasing. Her whole gimmick is that she's unpredictable. You have to assume she's in both states at once. However, I will say that she does need a very subtle change to her animations that lets the survivor know she is phasing.
Have her glass shards glow like they already do but brighter, but have her glass shards glow at random intervals even when she isn't phasing. Make it so that when she does phase, survivors who really pay attention can understand "Oh, she is phasing" or "She might be phasing". Because you can't be sure if the Spirit is phasing or not because her glass shards glow at random intervals, but at the very least you can be confident in knowing she is phasing if you kept a close eye on her.
She can also have her hand animation while she is phasing happen at random intervals as well, but will also happen the moment she's charging up her phase. Which again, forces Survivors to pay attention to her. These two telltales are probably more obvious than how the current glass shards glow (which they do by the way, it isn't a myth. But it isn't obvious and some maps make it bright all the way making it hard to spot)
What I am saying is, sure, give Spirit an indication that she is using her power however don't make it be obvious and make it happen in a sea of fake tells. So if she stops in her tracks around a loop to phase and you missed it, tough luck buddy but you might get a hit. This is probably more fair than actual Scratch Marks like I've seen people suggest in this forum (that would absolutely kill her as she is a killer that also requires a level of prediction on her part, if a survivor sees she has scratch marks it means she is phasing. And if she is phasing it means it's an obvious telltale that you don't need to do anything that generates noise or make a very easy guess as to where she is at to juke her)

Well, I personally will enjoy the fact that she won't be able to lunge at me from 16+ meters away, or being able to go from one side of a loop to the other side of a loop in a single lunge.
The changes also slightly raised her skill floor, which I feel was very much needed. I think a little bit more needs to be done with raising her skill floor juuust a bit more, but when it comes to changes I prefer taking one step in front of the other at a time too -- rather than changing a bunch of things at once and completely overstepping the target like they did to Nurse.
I think the only real other change I'd like to see from her phasing is her moving grass/corn. Would also like my ectoplasm "scratch marks" idea just so she provided more feedback after the fact to help people learn to play against her a little better.
I'm pretty sure scratch marks would be the actual death of her.
-
I do play on the Survivor Side and even though 50% of matches aren't Spirit (They're Trapper for obvious reasons), I still enjoy those matches against the Spirit. Everytime I correctly predicted how fast she was going to pallet stun her is satisfying.
It may not be fun for you but "Spirit is Unfun to go up against" is not a fact, it's a subjective opinion.
-
Can you stop making these threads? omg.
-
I can't really say I like this system very much ^^;
Like it sounds nice but I can't say I agree with having it be tied to Devotion xp. Just The Rift is fine, thanks. No need for more than that.

All the whining over cosmetics is crazy. I also hate hearing the whining about the "predatorial" battle pass that is optional and even gives you free stuff.
I only half agree with you there.
The thing about Battle Passes is that it can be psychologically damaging to someone with addictive behaviours. And that's one of the reasons why many people oppose it. I am not someone with an addictive behaviour perse, but I do often times realize how much time I spent on DBD just from playing the game.
-
I will say this as someone who owns a Chuckles mask from a giveaway.
Why is it such a huge issue? Like genuinely, other than "loyalty" or "I was there for the event" or "I paid for it"
How is giving everyone exclusive cosmetics a bad thing? Surely this is just a good way to get even more loyal players right? Because this shows that the devs want to give something to the community for free.
They could've put it up on the store but they decided to just make it free for everyone with a couple of exceptions that had reasonable excuses as to why it can't be given to everyone.

Why is this in International Discussion and why is it a poll?

I wouldn't mind having a casual game where you can use perks and bring addons and a competitive game where you're forced to use your basekit.

Then it sounds like her kit needs a redesign. If giving a killer counterplay would make them useless, then clearly, their kit is fundamentally flawed in its design.
What do you propose as a change then that would keep her powerful but gives survivors this counterplay?

I mean, what difference does it make between be EARNING it through grinding on events vs people who grinded bloodwebs? Absolutely none, they killed the hard earned event cosmetics, so why not kill Legacy as well?
Those cosmetics were given during events, not during the beginning of the game when prestiging bloodwebs were more difficult.

They used the word "Global" which tells me everyone including the person in your TR. Which would make the addon trash.
If however it still doesn't play for people in your TR then it's just meh now. Honestly just addons reducing your power cooldown and activation are probably better.
BHVR does have a reputation for poor choice of words when describing how certain mechanics function.
Lets just wait for the PTB shrug

I mean oh wow they step off the gen for a couple seconds because they think you could be phasing near them wow. That's honestly pretty irrelevant.
It's also destroying your chase because now the person you're chasing knows when your phasing every time.
I assume they still cant hear you if they are inside your Terror Radius. If they can however then this would make me completely avoid Prayer Beads.

It was bound to happen. Spirit's power is designed in a way that if they nerfed her to give direct counterplay she'd be outright a terrible killer but people still want to be able to know when and where she's phasing.
If they basically just gave survivors a completely obvious telltale her potential would drop beneath the floor.
-
Yakuyoke is the only nerf I am a bit iffed about.
Other than that I am fine with every changes she got.
-
@Bongbingbing said:
Because of outcry. The spirit was untouched for a very long time with not much complaints at all until some people and streamers claimed she was unfun after that it snowballed.
Don't get me wrong the changes were most definitely warranted, She wasn't OP but simply very unpredictable so I guess she could be considered unfun to go against.
I just hope the changes are a happy medium for both sides since they don't seem too bad of a nerf but we'll have to wait and see how she plays.
Given the forum reactions.
Both sides are still unhappy I'm afraid :/

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/834826#Comment_834826
Nope, this would be the complete destroyed of the power tho.
No, what I mean is I can reach the pallet before them and hit them before they could get near.
Now without collision, it makes it that much easier.
-
Don't know about you but Prayer Beads is a pretty good telltale given that it's now a global indicator rather than strictly be inside her Terror Radius.
