  • Actually a pretty good idea.

I've always hated tapping, as both killer and survivor. It removes a lot of pressure on the survivor side too easily in my opinion.

  • Okay, I don't know why. But I'm reminded of Club Penguin just reading this.

It's kind of ironic. The main reason killer mains buy cosmetics is because of HOPE. We HOPE that killers will, one day, be put on equal ground to survivors. We HOPE that playing killer won't be an overall stressful experience. Seriously, I've seen just as many "Survivor is too easy" posts as I have "[KILLER/GAMEPLAY FEATURE] Needs a buff/rework" posts. You know the balance is ######### when the supposed "Prey" think their side is too easy.

Why do you think devs are starting to balance in favour of killers? They're not perfect and they certainly have made mistakes in the past. But that doesn't mean "they don't care".

I'm pretty sure comments like these are why the devs almost never reads and listens to the forums, because who would want to listen to people telling you off about how horrible you are and about how you "don't care" while you're breaking your back trying to fix, patch and add features to a game that is known to have a lot of issues, bugs and more spaghetti code than Source SFM?

  • The best I can describe it is that a game like Dead by Daylight is glorifying and honoring the characters they are representing in the game.

Dead by Daylight is a celebration of horror, same way that Smash is a celebration of gaming.

If you start adding real serial killers into the mix, then people will most likely not want to support a game that glorifies someone like Ted Bundy.

  • They're currently balancing in the killer's favour in the next patch.

They are adding breakable walls to the SHACK. The God Pallet Loop, that is basically removing a very strong loop from the start of the game if that is possible.

Devs care about either side because they need both sides to keep the game running. And they also sell cosmetics for both sides, do you honestly think killers would purchase any cosmetic if they feel like they are getting the short end of the stick?

Noone wants you to punish for that. Get your friends, let one of them be the killer, and everything is fine. Of course, if you bully that killer he might want to stop playing with you, or stop being your friend.

I'll just quote what my friend told me:

"Also, the “just play kyf” argument is pure bullshort. People shouldn’t be disabled from doing challenges or gaining points just because people hate losing (even if Just rarely)."

  • Oh dear, that looks like a massive bug with the Splinter offering. No wonder they are disabling them in the next update.

  • @DrownedFish said:

Just give extra random perks to killer per swf. I would be fun.

No.. I really don't think it would be. I wouldn't like to have a perk that could possibly randomly disable another perk I have. Like Ruin disabling Pop Goes The Weasel.

  • I'm pretty sure you'll find a lot of people agreeing with you on that one.

Object of Obsession is the one perk that no one likes to play against. Because it can completely disable the killer's ability to mindgame or completely counter certain killers like Freddy and Trapper.

Gotta love this bullshit arguement that is so ridiculously self centered that they think balance isn't important when "friendship" is involved. It's like some child's cartoon except instead of friendship triumphing over evil, they try to make it triumph over common sense

I'm also tired of being told that I can't play a game that has Co-Op in it with friends.

What BHVR needs to do is not nerf people who do want to play SWF with friends. Because not everyone is a death squad. SWF more often than not gets themselves killed with how altruistic they tend to be.

What BHVR needs to do is close the gap between Solo and SWF, and then balance the game around that. Give Solo advantages that SWF (admittedly) has.

  • I especially like the Object of Obsession change. It's an actual High Risk/High Reward perk that can either really help your teammates or be really detrimental to them. Which would take some pause on when you should save the Obsession from the hook. And having both sides stay at 6 seconds at Tier 3 is also good, meaning neither side have an inherent advantage over the other when this perk is used to it's fullest.

her getting stunned sound i wouldn't necessarilydescribe as cute

What do you mean? Her Waluigi scream is adorable 😁

  • Spirit, I just find her cute and adorable, and I love playing as her.

  • I would replace the Generators with Jigsaw Boxes.

Why? Because I want The Pig to represent more of the franchise she is meant to represent. The SAW series is about escaping certain death by choosing to sacrifice something to live. With Jigsaw Boxes, you can only do it one at a time. Meaning if you find someone doing one, you have to either wait for them to finish or leave to look for another one.

Everyone spawns with an RBT stuck on their heads at the start. They won't start ticking until you touch a Jigsaw Box. Same rules applies with old Pig. Chase pauses the RBT timer, being downed pauses the RBT timer, stuff like that. But since you're just looking through Jigsaw Boxes, the RBT timer needs to be longer and the RNG needs to be harder. On average you should escape from your trap every 4-6 Jigsaw Boxes. I also propose to increase the time it takes to search a Jigsaw Box. So you can't just go running from one box to another.

Boxes, of course, would have no aura reading as that would just be showing survivors where all the generators are.

When a single survivor manages to free themselves from their trap, they may choose to stick around and help save their friends by either distracting The Pig or helping them find Jigsaw Boxes. Or they could open the door, start the Endgame Collapse and escape to safety.

The Pig would mostly be the same, except her power wouldn't be the RBTs, those are now the natural time limit of the game. Her power would be her stealth and ambush attacks, both of which in my opinion does need a little buff. I don't exactly know what. I'm not a game designer, I just know she needs something else for her power other than the RBTs I mentioned.

  • I'll just let you in on a secret.

If you want to use Unlimited Evil Within 3, you'll need to sacrifice a LOT of gens. Unlimited Evil Within 3 takes a lot of juice, even with the Memorial add-on which considerably increases the rate at which you stalk survivors.

Just remember that for him to get Tier 3 in the first place requires him to look directly at you and gaining evil. If he manages to get enough before 3-4 gens are done, that's kinda on you for not being aware of your surroundings and staying out of Michael's line of sight.

I remember this one time where I managed to stalk two survivors inside the shack, and they didn't seem bothered I was stalking them even with my heartbeat nearby with Tier 2. They managed to get me to Tier 3 before 2 gens even gets done.

So yes, while Tier 3 is indeed powerful, it requires the killer to sacrifice a lot of time chasing in order to fill up EW.

Really? Didn't know that. But for the most part a DC does count as an escape.

    Not according to challenge/achievement statistics.

  • The reason there's a ton of pallets in Hawkins is because the majority of those pallets are incredibly unsafe. Try to loop the killer around that will guarantee you to get hit and get downed.

While yes it is unsafe, this map is a more dense pallet city than The Game is.

  • I almost got it with Agitation, Iron Grasp, Insidious and BBQ and Chili but one person DCed at the very end.

    I'm annoyed.

  • DCing in general should give more benefits to the players still in the game.

The one Peanits published, as I understand it, was created in advance and collated from a bunch of answers submitted by different members of the dev team. I suspect the notes in that post were the same notes that the devs had in front of them on stream. They elaborated on a lot of the questions during the live Q&A, though, which is why I thought it was worth writing down what they said and not just deferring to the official recap post.

As for how long it took me... can I plead the fifth?

No, no you may not. I will know >:)

  • Fibi, how long did you spend writing this down?

Because this feels somehow more extensive than the one Peanits wrote.

  • Typically what I would do is if I am in the middle of starting my phase and I hear the unhook animation, I'm going back to the hook.

Either I hit the unhooker or the unhooked person is a gamble since I am pretty much blind until I reach the hook.

    ok thats my little list:

GF - using m2 removes bloodlust (couple times GF marked me when he had BL2) "im so sneaky with bl2" xd

huntress - iri heads, and i see it 2 ways 1st: 1shot after certain distance, 2nd when target is healthy it gives him deep wounds (more slowdown) but in that case, remove -4 hatchets penalty, and she needs 2nd red add on

(i know forever freddy freddy was nerfed) but i still dont think using his m2 (pallets or puddles) and bloodlust shouldnt work together xd

thats pretty much it i just hate ppl abusing bloodlust (i know because of maps its needed in game, but when im getting bloodlusted on unsafe pallet im like "nice mindgame, BL2")

and imo all 3 are pretty reasonable

Freddy cant BL while using his power.

Exploit it? You mean facecamping to get 1-2 sacrifices, then going AFK for the remainder of the endgame collapse while the rest of the survivors waste time at the exit gates just because they want to teabag you? Sometimes that's all a green killer can do against a group of red survivors.

When you play against an SWF team, they become very predictable.

If someone is good at looping, you know who to avoid. If someone is altruistic, you know what to do when someone is on the ground or on a hook.

Sure they can be frustrating and bs to go up against, but sometimes the game needs an extra layer of challenge. And SWF provides that in spades.

  • SWFs are a part of the game and it's something every killer has to deal with.

I personally play with an SWF group myself even though I sometimes enjoy solo survivor. Going up against an SWF shouldn't be too much of a problem, since most of them are overly altruistic and trusts way too much in their teammates to do things competently. You can exploit that to your favour as a killer.

  • Usually nothing as I need my ears to concentrate on the sounds ingame.

Keys have a counter: Franklin’s. I’m trying to get the deplete 3 keys challenge and I’m struggling cause 4 matches in a row now killer has had FD. I think they see my key in the lobby and equip FD.

Just grab a broken key, literally any addon and mind channel.

  • I respectfully disagree.

I've had fun baiting killers to hit me while they're carrying a teammate and that teammate inevitably getting off after struggling for a while. It's challenging and fun to do.

    But, I do understand how you would think it would be frustrating and useless to use ^^;

It doesn't promote camping and it doesn't discourage camping. It gives you information. If I don't see auras after hooking the survivor I'm camping

I personally don't camp, but I will search the surrounding areas first. As it's more beneficial for me to do that rather than just camp. Then patrol gens again.

  • @Azgard12 said:

Ruin and BBQ need to be visited because most games involve both.

And I hope the devs don't destroy them. There are itty bitty nerfs that could work.

Ruin is only necessary if your killer has no stalll potential, and most people use BBQ for the Bloodpoints. The Aura Reading also helps people not camp.

BBQ is literally a survivor sided perk because it forces the killer to move away from an advantageous position (i.e near the hook)

Just read his nickname and the title of his topic. For me, it's provocation. Most of his arguments are dishonest and misleading. We all know very well what we are talking about, but some killers and developers are the only ones who do not understand... Playing on words and mixing situations...

We must learn to ignore them, and not be too disgusted by this forum and its foul atmosphere.

Camping is uninteresting. Camping does not require any skill. Camping is like doing nothing. Camping is greifing.

Yet it has netted me 4k before with how altruistic some survivors are.

  • I actually found this challenge to be really fun.

The match I got it was one of the best matches of DBD I've ever had, and I hope for more challenges like this in the future.

  • Probably Hag. Her jumpscares often leaves me vulnerable because I sometimes panic and move my mouse around.

  • Spirit (with her school girl outfit) or Pig.

There's a lot of positivity in the community, and I mainly focus on that. :)

I'm very happy to hear that ^^

  • I actually have a question for you @Almo and you don't have to answer it.

What is it like to work with BHVR and how do you deal with the community on a day to day basis? A community that seems to always has something to say about the game you and BHVR are trying to make.

I know I've had my fair share of complaints on BHVR in the past, the recent update being one of those (although I really enjoy playing as Yui and the Oni, I think they're fantastic). But how do you deal with a community this large and this vocal about every change made to the game they play?

  • I mean if they can't find you while you're downed from far away, they will find you downed and making noise.

  • This actually feels very nice to read.

I would love to know more about the people behind DBD and their backgrounds, this was an interesting read ^^

Thank you for sharing this with us @Almo <3

  • Been feeling better than ever.

In fact I feel like I've gotten better at the game because of these changes.

  • We are going to get crossplay at some point, it would be nice to have a keyboard and mouse support for console players.

  • I'm getting killers with Moris too in my games.

Red Ranks, Solo queue. I'm not a fan of being kicked out of the game that often :(

  • @switch said:

Its not the fact that the achievement is hard, some should be hard, but the thing that tilts most of us is: how easy the adept survivors are....

This is another way to show someone, on which side devs are...

Preferably just make it so it's consistent with Survivor Adepts.

    4k = Adept Achievement earned.

  • Or maybe you're just stuck with your own prespective and can't see that others find fun in different ways?

  • Nerf threads in general.

I'm kinda sick of seeing people to call for everything to be nerfed. Doesn't matter who the killer is, doesn't matter what perk the survivors run, doesn't matter what map it is. Someone will ask for it to be nerfed. Sometimes in a very very angry manner.

One I am most tired of hearing is the Spirit nerf threads. Mainly because we recently nerfed her and I keep seeing people refusing to play against her (sometimes outright disconnecting).

How are you going to learn to play against a specific killer if you never play against her? I sometimes wish the "everyone plays Spirit at high ranks" thing is true because I never ever see her in high ranks and I always want to play against her.

  • Spirit is probably my most favourite killer to verse. Despite people playing her a lot I almost never get her in my games :(

Out of everyone she's the one killer that requires me to think ahead of her in order to juke and confuse her. I wish there were more killers like her.

I like the chase, but I like outwitting my opponents more than running around a pallet.

Do you use any of the lunge add-ons by chance. I was using the two power cooldown add-ons and I had no speed boost after phasing. It’s most definitely a bug. I’ve only played one game as Spirit after the patch though. I have heard multiple players say they’ve had the same issue.

Nope, just duration and speed addons as usual.

  • Best would be Nurse, and favourite and most fun to play as would be Spirit.

  • That's strange, because I've been playing her since the patch and she still definitely has that lunge.

Really sounds like a bug then.

  • Are there any plans to change recently changed killers such as Spirit, Nurse, and Legion in the upcoming patches based on community feedback? I'm not talking whole chapters away, but like the next mid-chapter or something like that.

  • I'm honestly sick and tired of playing the game as Survivor and realizing I was playing with Rank 20s the whole time. Which is essentially a 3v1 against the killer at that point.

I wouldn't mind it being this way, but there is the white rank players to think of.

1 … 45 46 47 48 49 … 55
