1) the understanding that voice communication is a very serious concern to balance and needs special precautions to be implemented
2) prestige affecting bloodweb rarity
-
Unique chase music is ok, but unique terror radius audio has proven to be highly problematic. All killers should use the standard TR audio for consistency sake instead of stupid audio choices giving some killers an advantage or disadvantage.

Is this on console? I'm a PC player and I'm not familiar with a chat that pops up over the ready button so I'm not entirely sure what's happening.

Agreed, demo is definitely the most fun killer for both sides to me as well.
Deathslinger is annoying to play against to me personally. And the fast quick scopes which are fair I guess, but nothing you can do against them to avoid and I hate that.
And there's people on PC who just use crosshairs like on huntress too, and get an unfair advantage that's not intended
Deathslinger has crosshairs built into his gun.
-
Has there been a public beta or anything? I'm curious how it runs considering that it doesn't even seem to be optimized for PC or console.

Weird, I remember Spine Chill working against Myers prior to the change. It just wasn't nearly as common a perk back in the those days.

Actually there's apparentely supposed changes to a wide variety of maps this mid chapter. Not just ironworks.
I wonder what killers will complain about next. 2020 is looking good for then atm
If I had to guess, it will probly be the primary thing that they've been complaining about for years that was only made worse with the Ruin nerf and still hasn't been addressed.
...but who knows what it will be
-
It's primarily because there are a lot of playstyles in the game that are extremely unbalanced or just destroy a player's fun and the devs are incapable of doing anything about it. Since the devs aren't capable enough to handle it, that means it's up to the players to play the game in a more fair manner which is absolutely not where that responsibility should lie for obvious reasons. Consequently, when the obvious problem obviously goes wrong, people start getting mad at other players for using busted or fun killing tactics.
If the devs would properly balance the game out and provide entertaining counterplay to completely unfun tactics, a huge amount of the toxicity would go away. But sadly, they struggle to even acknowledge the problem let alone solve it. The disconnecting without consequences issue took 3 years before they implemented the solution everybody with basic pvp gaming experience had been suggesting for the entire time. And prior to their solution, they allowed a fog streamer to actively promote disconnecting against killers that you don't like as well as at least one of them giving her warnings when her friends were about to go over the dc ban limit so that they could slow down the pace to avoid punishment.

I thought Slenderman was a folklore creation. Was he actually written by a specific person or company? I don't think he would have a license.

Really? Sure would suck to lose out on the hockey mask though. Its part of what makes Jason, Jason.
Perhaps just the license for the unstoppable killer, so similar to Ghostface?
No, the studio owns the rights to the hockey mask version of Jason. The first screenwriter only owns what was in the first movie (the drowned boy Jason and his psychotic mom as a killer). The studio is who DbD would need to get the rights from, but they wouldn't be able to use names like Vorhees, Camp Crystal Lake, or Friday the 13th because those rights belong to the screen writer. The real problem would be writing the character's lore description. They'd essentially have to leave out what was in the first movie.
-
It's actually entirely possible for Jason to be added to the game, but they wouldn't be able to use the name Vorhees. The original screen writer doesn't own the rights to Jason as the unstoppable hockey mask wearing killer. He own the rights to a drowned boy, his mom, Camp Crystal Lake, and the name for the Friday the 13th franchise inside the US. Since Dead by Daylight only needs the character, as long as they just call him Jason and make the map a generic camp instead of Camp Crystal Lake, they only need the rights from a single party.

How would it be completely overpowered? All it tells us is if the killer is camping and if I need to run entirely across the map to go for a save. SWF already have this with coms.
No, they don't. The incredibly limited and inaccurate locating abilities that SWF groups have don't even come remotely close to the exact locating abilities that aura perks provide. To think otherwise is just to blatantly ignore reality. However, if you think the only difference is the killer aura being visible while near the hook, I would agree with making that basekit after about 5 seconds so the killer has enough time to leave the area. Would be one of the best measurements to ensure that campers get the genrushing counterplay they deserve from intelligent teams.

That is both inaccurate and untrue, but okay.
Call me ignorant, but solo players are at a far less advantage than SWF teams.
You're definitely showing ignorance cause you completely missed the point somehow. I didn't say anything about SWF not being more advantageous over solo play. I said Kindred is too powerful to be basekit for survivors. Two statements that are obviously different for those who actually pay attention instead of only hearing what they want to hear so they can make irrelevant retorts.
While you probly missed the point so your "inaccurate and untrue" accusation was delivered to a fictional claim; for humor's sake, I'll pretend it was directed at my claim that Kindred would be too powerful to be basekit. Aura perks are amongst the most powerful perks in the game regardless of whether or not you're playing SWF. Nobody is actually able to let other players know exactly where they are without an aura perk regardless of what ridiculous claims they make. Kindred not only lets you know if the killer is camping the hook, which direction he's head off in, if he's placing traps, and if he's returned to the hook; but it also lets you know which survivors are closest to the hook, where a survivor being chased is (and therefore where the killer is), and whether other survivors are on the gens or going for the unhook so you can easily see what to do.
If you honestly think basekit would be balanced to make it completely obvious how to most efficiently play the game when a survivor is hooked, then you're definitely ignorant.
-
@Elena said:
I recently made a comment on another forum that kindred becoming basekit would be a very good idea to closing the gap between solo and SWF players because it rewards more altruistic communication that way.
Yeah, but it would also be a completely overpowered buff for survivors that already have tons of advantages as it is. This is something along the lines of making NOED basekit for killers.

actually no, well yes, but ALSO they make money off people who buy it for 1000 auric cells, then get their auric cells back, then spend those auric cells on some cosmetics and invest another 10 bucks in a 1000 auric cells later for the new rift.
@zimer said:
@Fibijean "Yes, they get the $10 you spent on the auric cells, but they also lose the $10 that you would have spent on whatever you end up spending the return cells on."
^This.
A flat basic math: the devs just sold the customer 2000 auric cells for 10$. The customer got 2k auric cells, the devs got 10$.
Not succeeding in making the customer buy, gets the devs 0$.
Its like you want to finish the rift to get 50% off 2000 auric cells, you play/grind for a sale.
Has it never occurred to y'all that you can actually spend the 1000 auric cells from completing one rift pass on the next rift pass? This is actually what a significant number of people do.

Being upset by the fact that he has only one shot when he can reload on the move was already irrational enough. But once you said that his small terror radius was practically pointless, it became clear you truly have no clue about the power potential of this killer. The rest of your points are pretty weak as well. You're upset cause you have to aim more carefully with him even though he actually has a scope to aim with unlike Huntress. You think survivors have too much struggle power which can only mean you've been shooting over stuff and then getting upset that the obvious problem scenario ended up being problematic. You're upset that a near stealth ranged killer only has 110% movement speed. And you're finally point doesn't even have to do with Deathslinger but killers in general.

Matching against people equal to your skill level is a reward in itself. You will never improve playing against people significantly worse than you.
The problem is you'll also never improve if you play at your best and it's completely negated by your side being completely overpowered or underpowered. In order to truly improve youself, balance and matchmaking are both incredibly important. Since BHVR struggles to do either, rank rewards are ridiculously easy to implement and could at least provide some relieve from the hassle.

And you just ignored most of what i said. Even most streamers if they play with friends on voicecomms they just play for fun and do stupid things. But of course you wouldnt mention that, cause you dont want to accept that the utmost percentage of SWF arent voicecomm tryhards.
Yep, because nothing says ignoring most of what you said like responding to every single part of it. And while I don't go around watching every single streamer so I wouldn't know the majority percentage, I have yet to see any streamer who doesn't use voice communication in SWF to tell people where the killer is, ask who is going for the unhook, request heals, say where totems are, and all the stuff that pretty much everybody on voice communication does.
-
They got all the money they needed when they made MoM one of the most ridiculously overpowered perks in the game on that DLC's release. Now that the DLC is old, nerfing that ridiculous perk that seemingly was intentionally made more powerful than the old Decisive Strike doesn't hit their wallets.
-
Actually, ebony moris really don't spawn that often on the bloodweb. What happened is that the vast majority of killers never used them prior to the Ruin nerf because they were too game changing. However, the Ruin nerf itself was so game changing that a significant number of killers changed their minds and over so much time, they had a large amount stored up. The influx of ebony moris being used is just one of the consequences of one of the least thought through changes in the game. Had they reworked gen speeds along side the Ruin nerf, it would have made sense, but on its own, it was just stupid and has resulted in a number of consequences that survivors are now complaining about. Hope it was worth it, but juding by the number of tears shed over the backlash, it doesn't seem so.

Yeah, but with 25,000 bloodpoints earned, I'm willing to bet $100 that killer didn't camp. And if you're in red ranks, I'm willing to bet the vast majority of killers don't camp unless you're one of the entitled survivors that believe that if a killer doesn't instantaneously disappear from the map after hooking somebody then they're camping.

Easiest proof: Streamers with their community. Hardly any Streamer that plays with their community uses voicecomms. The same goes for people just gathering throughout forums or other "looking for players"-sites. Then there are those with rainbow ranks. Or those who use voicecomms just to chat with each other while playing. Or people with different languages which just play together, cause theyre "friends" in DbD. Sorry, but this list can go on many more times, but I dont think you would accept any of this.
I love how you specifically mention "with their community" when referring to streamers cause you already know that when they play with their friends they use voice chat. Obviously, popular streamers aren't going to want to run the risk of a random person saying something extreme on their stream that could cause problems. It's an incredibly desperate stretch to use the very specific and unusual case of streamers playing with their community even though the reason for them not using voice chat is obvious
I'm not familiar with any "looking for player" sites, but I did just check the last few threads in the PC section of Looking For Players section on this forum and every one of them had a discord profile. I find it extremely unlikely that other forums or "looking for players" sites are any different. People who add others as friends who they can't even talk to is a ridiculously small number and another desperate stretch.
You're right I won't accept any of your nonsense because it's completely irrational.
-
By same guy, do you mean the same killer? I admit Deathslinger is ridiculously popular right now because of his busted TR audio mixed with M&A basically making him a ranged stealth killer. But if you're running into the same player repeatedly, ironically the DC punishment itself should save you from playing with them again as it requires you to wait before you get into another game while they can get in right away. How do you actually manage to end up playing against the same player so many times in a row? The odds of that are so ridiculously low that I would just assume that God himself hates you, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about an omnipotent being who had decided to make your life miserable.
-
The last patch may have been killer sided, but it didn't do anything to address the gen speed problem. And after the Ruin nerf, tunneling is one of the best ways to overcome the hurdle of the extreme difficulty of slowing survivors down. If killers are camping in every match for you, that means you're pretty low rank. Ranking up as survivor is incredibly easy if you play the role properly. Check out some skilled survivors streamers and see how they play to see what you should be doing.
A significant portion of the killer playerbase is still furious about the Ruin nerf that the devs refused to address gen speeds with. Tunneling is going to continue being an issue until that's addressed.

And the annoying irony is that they won't give bloodpoint progression (even reduced) to KYF which is playing with your friends without a victim of massive imbalance.

What's easier, rework most maps or slap 5-10 seconds on each gen?
They're already added extra time to complete gens before. What I think they need to do is make every completed gen regress the progress of all other gens on the map by half so that you can't pop 3 gens at once.

It's popular with boosted potatoes who don't know what teamwork is, or are just selfish. Everytime I see someone self care while I'm on hook I just kms because I'm not keen on doing all 5 generators by myself while they hide all game. In all honesty, selfcare should be disabled in red ranks. No team is going to do well against a rank 1 Freddy/Spirit/Billy with slow down builds if one or more person is self-caring every minute in the corner of the map and letting the others do all the work (gens, totems, running the killer, etc).
I think the boosted potato would be the person who thinks that an injured person should unhook rather than a healthy person. But wow, the hypocrisy in assaulting intelligence as not being helpful and then admitting that you're the type that suicides on the hook. Between people that kill themselves and people who use self care, the former is 1000 times worse for teammates than the latter.
-
Let me put it this way. The objective of the killer is to rack up hooks. The more hooks they get, the better. The entity loves hookers.

You would have hit him if hitboxes matched character location. That really didn't have anything to do with autoaim. The problem was that there was a hitbox for a survivor that was visibly 20 meters above where their hitbox was.

You know what the difference is here? Tension, hope and the fact that it's easy enough to swing the game back in your favour when perks like NoED exist because you can't apply pressure.
Gen-rush sucks, but in this scenario the survivors did kinda earn their lives more than the killer did a kill. You can get zero kills, and still get Brutal or even Relentless results if you play right.
It's a bit hypocritical to say that survivors earned a 4 man escape if they dominated in a thread complaining about killers trying to get a 4K when they dominate.
-
The devotion level prizes are cosmetics and free unlocks which are something that costs the developers undetermined amounts of money to begin with.
-
Well, consider that he's "so weak", it's utterly amazing what his popularity is. The fact that a ranged killer has a less than 16 meter audible terror radius with M&A because of his busted audio cues is definitely a sign of weakness. Honestly, the fact that the Deathslinger can utterly destroy on Lery's which should be a death sentence for a line of sight killer is a complete giveaway that there's something about him worth considering.
I honestly can't understand how somebody can call the Deathslinger a worse version of the Huntress . He has all of her strengths with none of her weaknesses. What's the big crux that Deathslinger has that Huntress, doesn't? Oh right, he can't always get the downing hit in all the same situations even though he can if he just waits a tad bit longer for certain pallet loops.

Lol, this actually happened to me. I gave somebody a party hat put them on the hook. After they got unhook, the first box they tried was the one near my totem. They did the box while I was chasing somebody else, but it didn't have the key but they did see the totem. After I hooked the guy I finally downed. I went over there because I saw a survivor near my totem. Checked for a while but didn't find anybody. Then the guy on the hook got unhooked so I went back there and heard the totem break while I was looking for one of the 2 at the hook. Turns out the key also wasn't in the next box she checked and she wasted too much time to get the totem so the trap ate her and it killed a crapload of my malicious and chase progress.

With the huntress I can throw my axe across the map and often hit, With Hill Billy I can pretty much move from one side of the map to the next in a few seconds, I don't even need to learn other killers because these alone are unbeatable. If ANY OF YOU SURVIVORS with RED rank, want to go vs me with a killer, I challenge you.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1175942#Comment_1175942
As for BBQ, there are several ways to counter it. The easiest is to hide in a locker, which will hide your aura completely from the killer. Get in the locker when you see them pick up one of the other survivors, wait until they hook them, count for five seconds, then you can safely leave the locker. If there are no lockers nearby, you can hide behind an uncompleted generator - generator auras and survivor auras as seen with BBQ are both red, so it makes it much harder for the killer to see your position at a glance. If all else fails, you can walk or run in one direction when your teammate gets hooked, and then after five seconds, walk back in the other direction. The killer will generally assume that you kept going the same direction you were heading at first and search for you in that area.
I doubt he's serious, but I would definitely join in on that wager as well. I'm not even that great a survivor, but based on his attitude, I'm pretty sure I'm good enough.

Dude you need to chill, seriously, we're not your enemies here. I believe we all want the same thing here, which is to see our beloved game thrive and become something more than it is.
However, we can't do that if you're going around telling people they worship the developers. Please be reasonable and discuss why you dislike other's opinions. Then, we can work with you after that, I promise you that.
Let's start over and pretend nothing happened beyond this point. 😁
Please, tell me, why do you dislike DC penalties?
From your OP, you dislike DCs because you don't like bad games. However, it's something both sides have to put up with, not just the one you played. Furthermore, you can ######### on the hook once you know the game is practically over, according to Peanits:
OMG, I so want to know what word got censored there. It definitely doesn't look like profanity from the context. And if it's what I think it is, then the censor for this forum is easily triggered.
-
Since you're new, I'll explain the issue for you. Killers are ridiculously easier to pick up than survivors, but the survivor skill cap is ridiculously more powerful than the killer skill cap. At low ranks, killers will be more overwhelming on average. At high ranks, survivors will be more overwhelming on average. If you're having that easy a time, you should be able to race up to red ranks real fast. At that point, people will take you more seriously.
-
Oh, a rage quitting killer? I'm used to the rage quitting survivors, but I don't run into these very often. However, I still have equally as little respect for children playing a game that's made for adults. Grow up before you play an M rated game.

The most significant changes this game received since then were nerfs to survivors, or buffs to killers. Pallet vaccuum was removed, Healing Time increased, and maps were made more balanced, especially with the change where they increased the minimum distance of pallets, which reduced the pallet density on all maps and reduced the amount of pallets that would spawn on a map at average.
LMFAO, I love the way you pretend it's been nothing but killer sided patches. But the irony is that if that's true, and then Marth comes back and does the experiment again and still destroys killers, then I guess that would mean survivors were just completely overpowered to begin with if they still have the upper hand now. Of course, the reality of the situation is that you're wildly biased, and a replication of the Marth experiment in today's DbD will only be even more devestating for killers. Hell, I'm currently rank 2 and a survivor and rank 9 as a killer even though I play killer more often. And trust me, that's not because of all the major killer buffs that have been happening.
