But they dont work consistently. You drop pallets early against oni and if he still chases you until they are all gone he will lose, bring maps and object against trapper and he will always be useless. Iron will does nothing against stridor. Dropping pallets strategically and slow vaulting does nothing when they can hear you or learn your moves
So? If you could counter 100% of the killers 100% of the time this game would have died 3 years ago. Its why they stopped making perks that directly counter killers powers like slippery meat vs trapper. She has counters, sometimes theyre easy to employ and sometimes they arent depending on map rng and where you are on the map and depending on the killers skill vs your skill. Sometimes you get screwed, sometimes theres literally nothing the killer can do to stop your team spirit or no spirit. This is dbd. Accept it or play something else. PH has less counters than spirit.

on fred i run tinkerer + nemesis + dark devotion + hex third seal with chains and dream pallets. Friggin blast to run and suprisingly effective

But I was wondering, do people choose not to use the P3 skins to trick the killer into thinking they're not as experienced?
Depends completely on what killer im using and if they have cool cosmetics or not. Idc if they know im experienced or not.
Same with survivors

Since new matchmaking I can tell in a lot of games right away that the other side is way outclassed. What is the “right way,” to handle this?
I used to go easy, as killer if I snowballed too quickly I would walk to the other side of the map to let the survivors rescue, heal and reset completely. As survivor I would let the killer have a hook or even let them kill me endgame for points.
Now I wonder if doing that would make MMR inaccurate so I’ve been just doing my best which had result in some feel bad games man. I know Otz stopped giving hatch. What is everyone else’s opinion? No right or wrong answer since we don’t know what counts as a win anymore really.
I used to, but then i realized that sometimes i think their new and their not and i end up screwing myself. Ill still give hatch sometimes but i no longer take it easy on them
Edited to add: if i have 3 survivors down and one hooked i will let one wiggle free and let them reset. Thats more about trying to maximize bps than anything tho

We only found the totems when there was 1 generator left to be repaired, and we only just found out he had devour, honestly we were just in a situation where we couldnt win because the killer was defending all the generators and totems at the same time. It was a fair play on his part, i guess me and my friend found it very annoying to try and combat.
I just want to point out you had 4 gens dine by the time he got his 4th hook according to this statement...in what world are you not kicking his ass?

@Luciferr_2nd said:
Freddy is boring to go up against, he requires no skill, and anyone can win by playing him. Its the same story every match and it gets to a point where hes just boring.
Just had a match where this freddy had devour hope and thrill of the hunt. He had both power recovery speed addons, his totems were right next to generators. There was nothing we could do, it just made the match boring and unfun because he could teleport whenever he wanted and thrill tier 3 made the cleansing ridiculously long.
Im not proposing or even asking for any changes to freddy, im just wondering if anyone feels the same way.
Whats your opinions on going against freddy?
I think that people that use the word boring just havent figured out how to counter a killer yet. Its a word that says far more about them than the killer. I whoop freddy all the time. I also lose as him sometimes. Hes not unbeatable.

stealth
Then when you do get in chase break los and haul ass to another tile.
But if you ignore the stealth aspect youre f-in up

@TruffleTurtle said:
While ik most people enjoy being chased and stuff, I for one really like the stealth aspect of this game. While it may not give u more points it feels rewarding. Any other players like that?
I even got some builds I'd like to share for those interested. 1 is a meme build.
Fixated, sprint burst, iron will, pebble/repressed alliance
Meme build: technician, fixated, iron will, pebble.
With the meme build, its centered around perks that nobody uses so they wont expect it. With technician, you could work on a gen nearby the killer and the may not check you because your noise u make from working on the gen are gone. So you might just get away with doing the gen. Iron will and fixated enhance the stealth. And pebble op plz nerf.
I have fun with it. I run spine chill + urban + distortion + lightweight on my p3 claudette. My thinking is im pretty decent in chase, so if i can also incorporate stealth im wasting even more of the killers time.
But when im in the mood for a fight i got my p3 david 😈

Just a small criticism, if you tell people it starts at 730, dont make them wait 30 minutes before you start it. I could have played like 3 more games before turning the game off now instead im staring at a starting soon screen for another 20 mins
Starting it at 735 would have made sense

The reason not too many killers run surge is due to their experience with it, and their experience is ruined because of the amount of requirements it has.
1- Upon downing a survivor
2- With a basic attack
3- Gens within 32m
4- After the 60/50/40s cooldown
5- That are not damaged or affected by surge
It's a bit ridiculous as @Warcrafter4 mentioned in a comment of his own. You really don't have to work THAT hard just to get a gen to get damaged and regressed 8%. The reward simply doesn't meet the criteria.
So maybe we can turn down some of the unneeded requirements a bit?
• Remove basic attack requirement
• Allow surge to apply it's 8% to already damaged gens.
So basically surge now damages and applies 8% regression to ANY gens within 32m upon putting a survivor into the dying state, with a 60/50/40s cooldown
Simple and straight forward :)
Either that or remove the cool down. Im fine with either

While I can see an argument against the magnitude. Thrilling Tremors is one of the perks that DOES need a cooldown.
Picking up a Survivor is something that can be done repeatedly even on just a single Survivor. And being able to chain uses of the perk to permanently prevent gen progression is a bit TOO effective, since without a cooldown there is no window to hop on a gen, and the perk is only balanced because it has that weakness.
I can understand a LOWER cooldown, but not NO cooldown.
Fair point. 16 seconds maybe
-
@not_Queen said:
The killer running Infectious Fright already has to fill conditions to activate the perk's effects. The idea of having the terror radius as one of the condition (and not a flat 32m) is to allow for perk synergy. As for the cooldown, adding something like this would greatly diminish the strength of the perk and we think it is unnecessary in it's current form.
Survivors choosing to remain in the killer terror radius while a teammate is getting chased nearby are taking a risk. Infectious Fright is a perk that makes this risk greater if the chase comes to an end. We think it is doing what it has been designed for.
TLDR
At the moment, we have no plans to change Infectious Fright.
I think the confusiin comes in the logic behind what gets a cool down and what doesnt. What requires basic attacks and what doesnt, and why the choice is made to apply those. There just doesnt seem to be much consistency.
-
I agree its silly for it to have a cool down. Same with Thrilling Tremors

Even otzdarva said that you basically have to hook 2 survivors over and over again and leave the others, maybe get a hit if they run into you but don't chase them. I always feel bad if one survivors has like 8k BP because he/she died after 2 minutes, but concentrate on 2 or even 1 survivors seems like the only way to get more than 1 kill if they all play optimally. Is it "clever" or "tunneling"?
Imo the stratdgy you employ largely depends on the killer you use and the survivors youre playing. If its an optimal 4 man and gens are flying stupid quick tgen no, juggeling isnt giing to do you any good. You need to basement proxy camp and hope theyre altruistic.
Sometimes juggeling is a great strat but you need to be hitting the others 2 to slow them down. 2 survivors can still do 5 gens pretty quick. Soley focusing on 2 people will lose you the game too if theyre competent

Im the only one who encounter those kind of survivors?
Thats not a new hack. Just good old fashioned lag switching

dodging hits. Some of them are really good at cheesing the aim dressing.
Theres also quite a bit in stringing tiles together. Requires a lot of map and tile knowledge which is a skill. Particularly in knowing when to throw the pallet and when you can get one more loop.
Theres a ton of skill in understanding the different counters to them, as evidenced by all the people crying about spirit and freddy having no counter when they do. Not just knowing the counters but doing them effictevly.
-
On azaroves i once had 4 gens all like 5 feet from eachother. Turned into an absolute war. I wasbt leaving the gens, tgey were a swf so they all knew they had to do 2 of those gens. I ended up giving tge last one hatch cause we all knew rng screwed them. They were good sports, told me it was a fun match

Works fine for me, as it has for others. So.. there MAY be something wrong with the system. But it doesn't affect everyone.
Same. It took longer than 10 games but it seems to be working appropriately for me on xbox. I suspect it has something to do with greater disparities in skill and not enough people to fill gaps.
In addition to that the systems goal is to hit 2k 2e. I had a game against a REALLY good 3 man swf, the fourth was a legit rank 20. It was still a really tough game. I got plenty of hooks, enough to safety, but onky 1k. So even though there was a r20 in there, tge game was pretty balanced. And ive had plenty of otger similar experiences.

Just for this thread “maxed out,” means you have all that you want. For example I have all perks on all killers, and all survivor perks unlocked with the survivors I actually like to play with all perks. Only pyramid head is prestige and it’ll stay that way it doesn’t interest me.
Anyways, even though I’m basically just doing extra webs for addons I still haven’t played a killer game without BBQ in forever! Even when the auras looked garbage I still used it just for double Bps.... is anyone else with me or should I open up that slot on some killers that don’t benefit as much from the aura Reading?
I prefer TT to bbq, but sometimes i dont even use tracking perks 🤷♂️

I can land FF shots pretty well but it kinda stinks that they can't actually down anyone.
Doesnt matter, get right behind someone and cancel it. Their already injured so 1 tile and its done. The others are either healing or working gens. Run bbq/discordance and youll know which. Eventually theyre going to get sick of healing if you keep hitting them with ff, then the game gets easier.
Im not saying legion is great. I get the weaknesses, just saying ive beaten some ddcent teams with them. Clowns far worse imo

Hes not as fat as clown tho 😳

They haven't silenced clowns grunts when he vaults to announce he is vaulting. It seems strange to me why they
haven't changed that yet. He's the only killer that does this and loses out on some window mindgames, I thought
they would have changed that when they changed spirits vault animation cause they want all killers to be
on a "fair" playing field when it comes to that sort of thing.

So? Would you rather hold m1 for 4 gens?
-
@DragonMasterDarren said:
I am not naming names, but i was just tunneled and facecamped by a billy on Azarovs, his reasoning, i was "willing exploiting" the invisible body bug
first of all, no, i wasn't, it is physically impossible to abuse a bug that happens randomly, my body was fine on my screen, i ain't switching to a different cosmetic because of a bug that i have no control over
second, nice excuse, spent 4 gens chasing me across the entire map, then camped me in the basement, everyone else got to leave because you didn't abandon chase
i have no control over this bug, it is not a ######### excuse to tunnel and camp someone
Im confused. I thought the fun in this game was interactiin with the killer. He chased you for 4 gens. Even if you died you still kinda won. As a team you certainly did. So why you mad?

@dspaceman20 said:
i'm very confused as to my so many people have a problem with hatch. It seems balanced to me. Sure it can be annoying when survivors bring a key but without it its fine. It gives last survivors a chance to escape a almost hopeless situation. The key word here being "a chance" it isn't 100 percent guaranteed that the survivors are going to find the hatch before the killer does it or the survivor. So with can someone explain what's so wrong with it.
(P.s im a survivor main so im open to the idea that i could be bias)
Im fine with hatch minus key. In fact its a good thing i think. I think some people get mad cause they see it as cheap for tge survivor to get an escape that way. Its a win for them without earning it, which is true but im just kind of indifferent to it. I already got my W so whatever.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/180138/do-red-rank-killers-win-every-game
I'd say I win the vast majority as a killer I've got a lot of time and points invested into. Four red ranks solos is usually an easy win due to the lack of info on their end. A Swf can be tought depending on their playstyle. A lot of them play fast and loose/dangerous and end up screwing themselves over, but optimal Swfs can be VERY tough to beat and it becomes largely map dependant.
An early hook is really the dealbreaker against a good team. If you don't get one before the first/second gen you won't be able to apply enough pressure.
Well said. Accurate

I’m on my way to reaching red rank killer however I’m faced with matches where I don’t get every kill. I watch streamers who are seemingly flawless at killer. It gets me a little discouraged if I can’t get kills every game. So I just want to know, do the higher up’s also have bad games? They don’t possibly dominate 24/7 right?
Absolutely not. Ive been r1 for close to 6 months now and get my ass kicked plenty. There are games youve lost before youve even spawned in thanks to rng. There are also games you onky won because of rng.

However damn near every game, I get the common comment of "Who hurt you?" followed by racial and homophobic slurs due to me running a build they weren't used to. My response typically?
