The Hallowed Blight actually felt like an event. The special hooks and gens were animated, the grounds were littered with cankers that made the realm feel more alive and unique. A new objective to do other than just generators with the chance of winning some great looking cosmetics.
The Hallowed Blight, for all it's flaws, was a genuinely fun and exciting event to participate in.
The Withering Blight introduced players with a Battlepass System, a list of challenges that can be done in a single day if you're lucky, and one of the worst (and I mean the worst) integrations of special event currency collecting I've seen in ages.
The Withering Blight has no atmosphere, the trials still feel the goddamn same. The hooks and gens don't even animate. They just glues a couple of extra models to the existing hooks and gens. Even the title screen felt very mute. Remember when you open up DBD during the Hallowed Blight, you would hear and see the oozing cankers as the menus start to appear? That set the mood far greater than just a couple of goddamn pumpkin heads.
I would go back to that mess anyday rather than play this "event"

I like to see myself as a fairly casual player on both sides. However I have gotten competitive when I feel like it. The rush you get after winning a game you were about to lose or the confidence boost you have when you decimate your opponent. That's something that I genuinely look forward to everytime I play DBD. Less to stroke my ego, but more to boost my self esteem if I am doing fairly well.
With how the game is currently being handled community-wise, I don't think the Casual and Competitive playerbase can be 100% satisfied. A lot of the complaints are derived from a more personal experience rather than an objective point of view. I know my complaint of Object of Obssession if mainly from my personal experience going up against SWF kill squads in Red Ranks. Maybe it's unjustified to nerf that perk, maybe it is. Whatever it is I have no say in the matter. The Devs do.
I don't think even if you make a killer that is 100% balanced will you be able to satisfy both groups. Freddy right now is arguably the most balanced he has ever been in recent years. His power is not powerful but they can be devastating when used correctly. Yet people still disconnect against him as a protest. He also has the highest kill rate according to the devs. Which is what scares me.
Maybe I should stay a little bit optimistic, but most people forget this game is a 4v1. 1 Survivor should never have the ability to 1v1 a killer. That would never happen in the movies and it should not happen in this game. Because the killer is already outnumbered by 3, he doesn't need to get his ass handed to him with just one of the four.
Sure a killer can still get kills, but that depends on the survivor's mistakes and a large amount of game sense, basically being a fortune teller, of what will happen in the game. If there is a killer that is 100% balanced, I assure you both groups will still yell bloody mary because they can still get kills.

When I read the title I thought it meant Rank 1-10.
Of course Ruin is powerful in low ranks, It's a crippling effect that is damaging to new players.
-
Yikes dude. Yikes.
-
Honestly I prefer if they know whether or not the killer is nearby rather than just crouch around not doing gens.

My last significant game was fairly enjoyable, I only noticed the one key because the person last second switched to it.
I also hate Myers so I was pretty proud, ofc - just bad survivors though.
I doubt "bad survivors" brings 3 keys and has a combination of Adrenaline, DS and Head On in their builds.
-
Object of Obsession.
Right now it's fine as Solo but stupidly powerful for a SWF team.
I really don't know how they could rework this perk, as I don't want them to just outright remove it. But it does lead to some upset if you see this perk being used at the start of the game as the killer.

Well played man! I always laugh at the people that rely on ruin. The next reply you get will be "They must have been bad survivors".
They put up quite the fight, I was desperately defending the last gen from being done with PGTW.

You must not be a red rank survivor, as ALL Freddy players run these perks and add-ons
Red Ranks. Freddy Main. Don't run this build. Don't even run Ruin.

New heist. Three new DLCs. Just had a 1 GB update.

Payday 2 just got rebooted. Might spend another 1k hours there if this guy shuts down.

It not as if Freddy is op, but he is boring to play against. Freddy can literally do what every killer does to the point where you asked, what is the point playing?
He has map pressure by being able to teleport to gens.
He has snare portals (whatever they are called) to stop pretty much all loops or fast vault (If you are a smart killer).
He also has dream pallet which becomes very strong during late game where most pallets are gone and you can used that to trick suriviors (granted the killer can't dream snares with this add on).
He can turn invisible at a certain distance.
He can slow down gen speed when in just dream world and can use ruin with other perks to slow the game down. So you can understand how boring it is being on a gen doing one thing for over 100 seconds. Granted this is also with an add on.
When a surivior is in his dream world. The dream portal would usually spawn very far away which makes it a long journey. It's even better when you leave the dream world just for the Freddy to wake you up again instantly. While in the dream world a lot of perks such as borrowed time becomes useless.
His lunge attack can be quite ridiculous because it seems he isn't hitting you from a long distance.
Obviously they are more things I can cover but I'm obviously listed the obvious ones without going into most depth on how annoying each one is. A killer that can pretty much do what almost every killer can do, is pretty boring. It isn't as if he needs a nerf but limit the number of powers he has in return of buffing other powers that haven't been removed.
Would you rather him be another Low Tier killer?
Plus it makes sense he could do most of those things. The Dream World is his world. Manipulating the things around him is his thing. Having the ability to go from gen to gen sounds like something he could actually do.
Can we stop calling killers "boring"? Because I'm bored having to face Exhaustion perks.

As a Freddy Main. I only have one thing to say to survivors.
Welcome to my world, #########!

How do you tell them not to wiggle? I'm asking cause a friend of mine moves his head saying no as a "you're not gonna live" threat
Smack the wall. Usually that'll tell them to stop wiggling. But some survivors dont get ir.

Your favorite horror icon is a child molester? Wow!
I mean he is already a killer. So.

Kind of hard to make builds around Freddy if I have to use one of his unique perks. Although I do do that as Survivor.
-
Love indoor maps, makes for great jumpscares for both sides.
-
No. I just want another original killer.

PC seems to have some sort of memory leak issue and it gets pretty laggy after playing the game for a while.
It can get so bad that if I'm struggling on the hook, I will just outright die if a lag spike happens.
It also sometimes doesn't close properly, forcing you to use the Task Manager to close it.

@Carlosylu - When I get home from work, the first game I have, I am going to facecamp the first survivor I hook until they die.
This, I do for you.
What if that survivor is @Carlosylu ?

This is what I gather from the posts voicing the survivor opinion. Maybe I'm wrong but. .
1. Survivors didn't like Freddy's slowdown mechanic so they complained until it got changed.
2. Freddy was changed but the devs left the slowdown option as add-ons. (The slowdown makes sense for the killer. Things in dreams don't behave the same in real life.)
3. Survivors told devs they didn't like slowdown but the devs still made it available. Now survivors must circumvent devs and punish killers who use those add-ons by DC'ing from match because devs didn't 100% meet their demands.
Am I missing anything?
Can we just have one killer who specializes in Slowdown please? Just one.
Like genuinely slowdown the game if you stay in his world.
This is Freddy Krueger we're talking about. The Dream World is his world. So of course he would do something like slowing down generator repairs.
Freddy is not even anti-loop. His snares and pallets are great but they are nowhere near overpowered.
I just.. I'm desperate because I don't want him to be nerfed. I love playing as him too much.

Someone already posted it but it just reminded me of Otz's latest video, to be honest.
I'd always just take the first one in that situation, although I'd likely not message to offer a farm at that point in the game, especially not in red ranks. As survivor and killer, I can safely say red rank players are the worst.
I actively avoid Red ranks every season but I always fall into that pit of despair.

That just brings up a new issue entirely, I'm all for nerfing the Spirit and then bringing up the other killers to a viable level, that's how it should be.
But right now people don't trust them to balance so they are clinging onto Spirit like the Nurse players clingned onto Nurse.
Well, you know how BHVR gutted Legion. The community at large right now is very wary in confidence to BHVR's ability to balance the game properly.
-
I like survivors who can challenge me as a killer. But around this rank I also filter out the survivors who play using that goddamn perk, Object of Obsession.
Usually I can find survivors who are good at the game but still curteous enough to not use every meta perk in the game. Because I tend to not use every meta perk for my killers as well.

There is tons of threads discussing the exact same thing that OP posted about, if he wanted to give his input he could of gone to these threads and done it there, not create a brand new thread that brings nothing new to the table with the Spirit discussion.
Maybe he just wants his opinion to be voiced louder, which is why he made this thread. We're in a public forum, everyone has the right to voice their opinions.

@Cyro said:
I just find it funny that everyone will preach that Spirit is fair and balanced and that there are reliable counters to play against her. Yet none of them have posted ANY evidence backing up this opinion, there was Groot posting about what Marth said about her but that was it. Every single streamer I've seen (bar Tru) have voiced their concerns about the Spirit and have brought up a good argument with conclusive evidence to back up their claim.
All you people are really saying is ''go for windows, fake things!'' This. Is. Not. Counterplay.
You can't tell what on earth she is going to do, is it REALLY too much to ask for the Spirit to get some sort of telltale sign attached to her so you can at least tell when she's phasing? And before you say ''but duh glass lights up!!'' this has already been proven false by a lot of youtubers so don't make this argument again.
If you find Spirit fun to fight against, good for you, but from a balance standpoint she simply isn't fair to fight. Yes, she might be FUN to fight for certain players, but she isn't FAIR to fight. And yes killers shouldn't be fair to fight blah blah, but every single killer has some form of counterplay.
Why is Spirit the only exception to this rule?
Probably because right now she is the only realistically viable killer in the game. And some killers don't want her to be nerfed because well, you know what they'd have to do.
I am in agreement she needs a sign on when she is phasing, like for example if she's phasing we hear her glass breaking noise that the killer hears. If she isn't then she doesn't make that sound.
-
I am usually the killer that readies up before anyone else. I prefer for the game to just start already. But I will wait if I see them carrying certain items.
-
In Red Ranks, if I see a flashlight of any kind I will put on a Blindness addon or perk.
Most of the time, it's an Object of Obsession team. And most of the time, that blindness addon makes it really fun to break their aura reading to me.
Edit:
Oh #########, I didn't read the whole thread. My bad. Give me a second to make another answer.

No, I'm just afraid that getting rid of the key is their next goal, if so, I'll stop playing.
Keys does have to be nerfed. Not removed. Same with Moris.
Its basically a free escape if they find the hatch. Same with moris being a free kill for the killer.
-
Let me explain everything you told us one by one and why they were nerfed:
- There was an abundance of safe pallets before the update that reduced them so survivors couldnt loop the killer from one pallet to the next continuously without breaks. They had to be changed.
- Perks like Decisive Strike were used too often to the point where killers had to start "dribbling" to deny the survivors a chance to even use it. It has now be changed to become more of an anti tunneling perk (though I disagree with that notion)
- Old BNPs could've LITERALLY ended games before it even started. Having all 4 survivors fix 80% of their objective in the first minute was ridiculously overpowered. They had to do away with that.
- Insta heals were used more primarily on a downed survivor, effectively robbing the killer of their deserved hook. You can tell why this was removed to now become a Mini BT
I agree we should remove Ebony moris from the game, as they typically do what BNPs did for the killer.
But those nerfs you mentioned were warranted and made live with good reason. There are 4 survivors and 1 killer. That's 4 possible Instaheals versus one person. That's not really fair is it?
-
BHVR please keep this "bug" and make it a feature.
-
I think I found out who are the Dads of the DBD community.

1) I feel that a lot of people want Spirit to get nerfed, not changed.

Must be nice. I get like 20 minute queues. Not even worth it at that point.
I mean the only games I will get are games with Object of Obsession users so it's not like it's all good either..
-
Hopefully you'll recover soon!
Usually you won't feel any actual pain during a surgery, at least that's my experience when I got one for my blood condition a while ago. You'll most likely be knocked out cold with anesthetic.

Lets not give Survivors a perk that basically gives them 5 free heals please? If they hoard them all.

Killer queue times give you plenty of time to do that ;)
Oddly enough I don't have much time waiting for lobbies as Killer. Usually I get one every 1-3 minutes.

I have a saying that if you Disconnect, you admit you suck. You admit you didn't try and you admit you just want to get an easy win without even trying.
People who disconnect from games like these tend to not be ready for actual hardships in real life. You can't just look away from something frustrating and "unfun" and just cut yourself from it all. That's not how it works.
If your ego is so fragile that you would rather not give the killer the satisfaction of a hook, or give the survivors the satisfaction of an escape, then you shouldn't be playing games with other people.
No one cares about your ego, same way some people say they don't care about other people's fun. But I do, even if they bully the ######### out of me I'll humour them until the exit gates are open. After that I'll afk until the next match.
Just don't disconnect from a game, people. It's a game. Disconnecting is the same as throwing a tamper tantrum because you lost in Monopoly. It's childish, and for a game that is rated Mature, that is saying a lot.
-
I'm already feeling it, sometimes I just leave the game open in the background and not play it while I contemplate whether or not I want to play a match.
-

Kind of a useless thread, your ideas are the exact same stuff reposted over and over in this forum.
Let it die, she is getting nerfed.
I don't think it's fair to say someone's honest thoughts on a highly contested killer is useless.
Just saying "Let it die" or "She will be nerfed" is counter productive to having an actual discussion about her powers and how to accurately make her still powerful and fun against optimal survivors.
If there's no actual discussion then it will just turn into another ######### show.
-
Well, this thread will be interesting to keep watch.
🥗
-
As someone who has played both sides, yeah I agree.
It's easy to forget that Survivor is more than just Holding M1 on generators until it's done. You also need to have situational awareness of where the killer is and whether or not an area is safe.
Sometimes you can even use the killer's powers against them and get away easy and scott free if you can accurately gauge what kind of player you're up against. Changing your strategies accordingly.
I know there was that one time I made a Hag with invisible traps confused when I run all over the traps she placed down right after she started a chase with someone. Basically using her advantage against her.
-
I just honestly wish they would punish people who DC.
Like banning them for 10 minutes, then an hour, then a whole day, then a whole week if they consistently DC.
-
Uh excuse me, why did that not stalk anyone? Is that a bug?
-
@arslaN said:
How do you feel about killers being punished for tunnelling?
Fixed for you.
If you are really too optimal, you should have no trouble catching them again.
What happens when the person who went down was downed because his teammate unhooked him with the killer nearby?
Shouldnt that teammate be punished for his failure to unhook safely?

But its Tyde. He is about as credible as a wet rag.
