  • It took me a hot second to process the pun, but I can appreciate it now, whereas my initial reaction was "why would they spell awesome this way..."

EDITED because I don't know how my phone autocorrected "initial" to "inroads."

  • I have experienced the kindred bug before, but the boil over is new to me. I have a feeling that it doesn't often get reported because it's somewhat a rare occurrence (at least when the penalty is turned on)

  • I haven't had a chance to see any of it yet (might check out some of the VOD later on) but I'm hoping to catch Umbra & Jason Sulli play later tonight.

  • The number of times I've been left to die on first hook in a 5 cake game is mindblowing. Events like this can be a nightmare in solo queue haha.

But for the first time a Pig let me boop the snoot, so there's that.

Actually, the best thing they could have done was have the survivors have the same conditions for obtaining the crowns as the Killer - find it and touch it. It literally makes zero sense why survivors have to escape to get the Crown when all a Killer has to do is touch the thing.

I think this is a holdover from one of the earlier Halloween events where survivors would collect the serum they needed and immediately disconnect.

The devs changed it so survivors had to escape to prevent the DC, which is why I suggested the secondary criteria of holding out for a certain amount of time across multiple matches.

Or maybe the Killers are just playing the game and the glow makes them easier to find.

Oh, I wasn't trying to defend the survivor gameplay, I was just trying to point out why they're playing extra sweaty.

Event of no event, killers shouldn't have to throw their game just to allow people to escape.

  • I think right now it's due to the event; a lot of survivors have had difficulty escaping with the crowns, so they're trying to genrush and leave immediately since there've been a bunch of killers specifically targeting anyone with the glow.

I think it would've been wise for the Dev team to add a secondary condition for survivor crowns, either escape with it or spend x amount of time with it in match to unlock it across multiple attempts.

  • I've gotten a crown on Ormond, so I know they spawn on that map, but I haven't been on Grim Pantry, so I can't speak to that one.

  • I think a nice change to the Crown mechanic would be to add a secondary unlock condition.

Escaping with the crown would unlock it immediately, or the secondary condition should be x amount of time spent with it active during the trial(a) allowing it to unlock automatically after having died in trial with it however many times.

But ultimately I agree with you, I had to play sweaty to get all the crowns, but now that I have them I'm playing as Tapp just burning the 4th year cakes I still have on him.

What I'm finding strange is that every time a lead an OG survivor or killer to a crown pedestal they seem to ignore it about 90% of the time. Makes it feel like I'm the only one wanting to meet the community goal.

  • If they decide to keep perk tiers, it would be a nice incentive to prestige if each time you did some of the tiers were removed.

Non - prestige blooweb: same as now

P1 bloodweb: all free pool perks start at tier 2 + that character's teachable perks at tier 3

P2 bloodweb: same as P1 but freepool perks start at tier 3, other teachables start at tier 2

P3 bloodweb: all perks start at tier 3

    Edited to fix an autocorrect

  • As far as I know I've only played against 1 person on the forums, and it was not a positive experience for either of us haha. He was playing killer and got hyper-focused on downing someone who managed to loop him for 4 generators. I didn't even encounter him in-match until endgame (I wasn't avoiding him, the match just snowballed out of his control and ended fairly quickly.)

Afterwards he sent me a slew of angry messages accusing us of being a SWF and calling me a liar when I said we were all solo. I ended up searching his name on the forums just out of curiosity, and his post history indicated that our match together was not an unfamiliar scenario for him.

  • I like this idea quite a lot; it would add a little spice every time you got one of the limited-time maps in your rotation, giving you something to look forward to once it rolls back in the next year, but also, if you happen to hate the map, you'd be like "at least I only have to deal with this setting for X amount more days."

Anniversary event starts July 1st, ends July 15th.

The Resident Evil chapter drops June 15th, and is not connected to the anniversary event.

I don't know why anyone tossed Tuesday into the mix. The next level of the current Tome drops on Wednesday, maybe that's what they were thinking?

I thought everyone got it automatically and didn't realize I had to claim it in the store. I'm glad I didn't miss it!

Look. I get everyone has their idea on what the rainbow charm is for, but the truth is. Nyancat. It always has been.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH2-TGUlwu4

This code doesn't expire, so everyone will be able to get it regardless of when they redeem it going forward. :)

  • I've been watching a lot of Carla's Twitch streams lately, she has a good vibe.

  • I got Thompson House for the first time since the rework yesterday afternoon, but haven't seen it again since. My understanding is that it's been re-enabled, but the pick rate is decidedly low. Not sure if that's intentional or not.

  • I would absolutely LOVE the opportunity to practice different killers without having to worry about embarrassing myself and/or giving a lobby of survivors a less than stellar experience while I'm learning.

  • For clarity, that's a total of 4 vaccines for the entirety of the match, or 4 spawned at any given time (with a new one renewing when one is used)?

  • For all the arguments I see flying around that Capcom would want the chapter to tie-in to their newest game entry, I'm confused why there's so rarely any mention about the RE Netflix series (starring Leon & Claire) that comes out on the second week of June.

If it was so important to Capcom that RE Village be highlighted in other media, why wouldn't the Netflix series revolve around Ethan? If that series is dropping at roughly the same time as the DBD chapter (and features iconic protagonists from earlier entries of the series,) why would Capcom not want to capitalize on that?

I'm not trying to railroad your thread into something else, I'm just trying to show I ultimately agree with you through what makes sense to me haha.

  • It would be nice if they could just create some kind of rotation for the characters so that everyone could get something new after x amount of time, and you would know they have another new thing coming after x amount of time again, or something to that effect.

I don't always like playing a survivor who has limited cosmetics simply because, in the event there are 3 other players in the lobby as that same character, I'd like to at least be identifiable to prevent an accidental tunnel.

But to answer the OP question: Jeff - he needs a lot more love.

  • You could try playing a game of killer and send the survivors in your lobby messages beforehand asking for help getting the gnome? It's not a perfect solution, but might be less stress inducing.

Question since i havn't played since the whole rift ... battlepass thing got added, how much insanely more do you have to play if you only do one side? Like my ~1000 hours worth so far i've played allmost exclusively killer, not looking forward to doing the solo survivor side but do you have to play like 8 hours a day if you only go for one side of it?

They've adjusted the grind on this one, so currently if you were to play 9 matches per day for 70 days, you would complete the rift without doing any challenges.

Doing the challenges in the archive will make this go faster.

In addition, you get that extra bonus for the first Survivor match per day, and the first Killer match per day, so if you count those it's probably closer to 7 matches played per day (assuming you do at least 1 match for both sides), and you if you complete all the challenges you will be much farther ahead of the game.

My goal was to gain 1 tier of the rift per day, but I'm on tier 18 thanks to the challenges (where I think we're only 10 days into it, so I'm roughly a week ahead of where I was attempting to be.)

Well I would love for you to keep updating it! Even if you don't post it here but have a link on any social media sites I'd love to take more looks every once in a while.

Thanks, happy to hear someone's getting use out of it! :)

My plan is to update the top post with every new rift - it was definitely less of a task to update it with this rift's information than it was to gather/sort all of the information from the previous six, that's for sure haha

I am not familiar with other battle-passes as truth be told, DBD is the only one I've ever played toward.

But I think, at the very least, the 'blank slots' should include maybe a bonus 50,000bp. That would be a nice touch.

I think they'll avoid putting bloodpoints into the rift since there are so many to collect via the archives, but I do agree that there should be no empty spaces; even if they just put 10 iridescent shards in each of the free spots that would sate me.

I asked this in another thread, but approximately how close to the laugh does the gnome spawn? I keep looking around and I can’t seem to find it.

My understanding is that the laugh is a global sound effect and has no relation to your proximity to it. People have been telling me to search in places where I know totems or chests spawn.

  • I have a word document saved to my laptop, but my brain never figured out a better way to present it than to just slap it onto the forums haha.

  • Hopefully this isn't considered a necro, but I've updated the original post to reflect the information for the current tome, in the event anyone was curious about the new percentages.

Why do people keep suggesting Claire? It would make more sence to be Jill no? Jill is in re1 and re3 and some others, I get the feeling Claire is only in re2

Keep in mind there's a Netflix movie coming out this summer starring Leon and Claire, and I believe they both will also be appearing in the upcoming live action reboot (though Chris and Jill will be in that as well.) I would assume, for players unfamiliar with the franchise, they would see the hype for the chapter, and around the same time see advertising for the Netflix RE film, and might check that out?

But I agree that the casual player will probably be more familiar with the image of Jill than the image of Claire.

  • This happened to me too many times before I changed my settings so healing would be a different button from throwing pallets on my PS4 controller.

Or maybe Resident Evil is my favorite game franchise and I engage with the games daily.

That's pretty much how it came across to me, just a case of parallel thinking, especially given that Paulie states in his video that he's largely unfamiliar with the RE property and is learning as he does his research, so I'd imagine his theory is based, at least in part, on theories from RE fans that he's come across.

Myself, I'm only vaguely familiar with the franchise, mostly via the RE 2 remake, so Leon and Claire are the survivors I have the most attachment to, but know a little about Chris and Jill.

  • Maybe we'll get REALLY lucky and they'll do 5 variations of the realm. (dare to DREEEEEEEEEAM~)

  • I'm pleasantly surprised by the number of Jeff submissions I saw in those replies - hopefully he starts getting a bit more love when it comes to cosmetics.

  • I play mostly solo survivor, and am by no means a top-tier player, but all of my matches today I've gotten paired with other survivors who just have absolutely zero gamesense. Honestly, it's not unusual for me to be the first to go down in a chase, but my teammates today have been...horrendous.

  • I think it all depends on how people define winning. When I play survivor and I'm the only one to escape, I don't consider that a win. For me it's a win if myself and two other survivors escape, whereas if everyone but me escapes it's a "team-win," but a personal loss, if that makes sense.

Playing killer I feel like a 3K is a win, and a 2K is a draw, but I do understand that a lot of people disagree with me.

  • I completed this against a camping/tunneling Ghost Face.

Bill unhooked me with Borrowed Time, I immediately got hit again by the killer, I ran from the hook to the nearest locker and just jumped straight in knowing I was going to get tunneled to death anyway. Killer pulled me straight out, rehooked me, and then the challenge considered itself completed.

  • It will forever haunt me that Meg's shirt shows Diamonds as black and Clubs as red.

  • I was watching Paulie's stream last night, he mentioned that he and King (and I think 1 other fogwhisperer) had decided to change their twitter handles as a joke, but had not been asked to do so by Behaviour.

  • Playing the event offerings during the Lunar New Year event is what's getting people the extra points, otherwise they would be capped at 32,000 per match. I can't remember the exact numbers that the offering nets you per generator/hook, but once the event is over you should notice the scores returning to normal.

  • Even just a few minor cosmetic differences might feel pretty good.

Bill without hit hat, shirt sans jacket, jacket tied around waist.

Young Bill would be pretty cool, seeing as we've got old Jake and old David.

But I agree, I'd be happy with ANYTHING for Billiam.

  • The number of Prove Thyself gamers increases significantly during events like these, and with the relative rarity of the event toolboxes in the blood web, I think a lot of players are desperate to get as many points as quickly as possible in an effort to spawn as many event items as possible.

  • The few times I've had a killer clearly trying to get me to lead them to the other survivor while slugged, I've lead them purposefully in the other direction.

Either I bleed out, or they pick me up and hook me, but not every solo player is out for themself.

Kinda bummed the Rift cosmetics aren't exclusive personally but I get it. I wonder if the recolors are exclusive though. As far as I know the Meg and Dwight recolor outfits are the only full outfits from the first Rift that haven't released into the store yet.

I'm a bit of a fence-sitter on that one; on the one hand, I worked really hard to finish the previous rifts, so it does feel like something of an accomplishment to have everything unlocked. On the other hand, I started playing after the Summer BBQ event, and I remember really wanting Kate's Songbird shirt, and was very excited when it unlocked for everyone.

I feel like a fair compromise is putting them in the shop where people have to pay a premium to get them, but I also sympathize with those who were unaware that the cosmetics would eventually unlock and feel as though they've lost the appeal of exclusivity.

More Mobile cosmetics could come out though. They usually like to wait a while before porting them though. They haven't released anymore since the "Back to School" collection have they? There used to be a new collection every month.

As far as I know there haven't been any other collections since the Back to School ones, but you're right, that could (and likely will) change.

But some of the previous rifts also included recolours of pieces that belong to sets, and I'm hoping they'll finish those off eventually (I think there are 2 Blueberry-coloured pieces to Claudette's Shrub Scholar set, and Jane's pink hair is a recolour belonging to her Waterfront Massacre set.) I actually do think it would be encouraging to play the next rift if you knew it had the final piece you needed for a collection you'd gotten through previous rifts.

That being said I (clearly) just like having options to make my survivors look distinct from the others in a trial.

Thank you for collecting these stats and running the numbers. It's very interesting to see

Thanks - I was curious when I realized that Hag was in every tome up until this one (and Legion has been in every tome since the second.) Meg, however, is the only character to have been featured in every tome in some way.

I really want the Jane red suit recolor from mobile. Hopefully it's in the next Rift!

I feel like that's a likely possibility, since there are only 3 more survivor recolours to go (and I can't imagine they'll put both Claudette recolours in the next tome since we're still waiting on her Community skin.)

  • Fast Facts:

     • Excluding charms, Tome I offered the fewest individual cosmetic pieces (with 32), Tome II offered the most (with 40.)

     • Tome II offered the fewest charms (with 26), while all others have offered 28.

     • Dwight Fairfield and Meg Thomas are the only characters to receive more than 1 outfit ported in from mobile.

     • Meg Thomas appears most consistently, having cosmetics featured in each of the first 6 rifts.

     • Jane Romero has had the shortest timespan between her introduction and being featured in the rift (11 months, 20 days.)

     • The Trapper is the only character to have a cosmetic of Common Rarity released in the rift (Pain Flail.)

     • The Deathslinger, and the Blight are the only killers featured in the rifts to receive recolor cosmetics only.

     • The Blight is the only playable character to have been featured in the Archives before being fully introduced.

     • Bill is the first licensed character to be included in both the Archives and the Rift.

     • The Boomer, from Left 4 Dead, is the only character to receive a Horrible Doll without otherwise being included in Dead by Daylight.

Excluded Characters: Shape||Michael Myers, Laurie Strode, Cannibal||Bubba Sawyer, Nightmare||Freddy Kreuger, Quentin Smith, Pig||Amanda Young, David Tapp, Ash Williams, Ghost Face||Danny Johnson, Demogorgon, Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, Executioner||Pyramid Head, Cheryl Mason, Nemesis, Jill Valentine, & Leon Kennedy.

  • I'm hoping this extra week extends to the rift going forward. 77 days for 70 tiers is still tight, but it offers a little bit of leeway for those who lack the time required to grind it out.

I've found the time between rifts I tend to take a break from the game because I'm so exhausted from trying to finish, so extending them by a week and starting the next one immediately thereafter would allow me to play slightly more relaxed while also encouraging continued play without a break.

  • For April Fools Day can they all be changed to Dueling Banjoes?

  • Meg already has a Christmas sweater, it's in the store, you just need to check under the shirts tab (because it's not a full outfit.)

Everyone released before Zarina already has a sweater in the store as well (with the exceptions of Laurie and Quentin.)

  • My understanding is that all the rift outfits will eventually come to the store, but the charms will not.

  • Sometimes in the endgame screen random survivors will lose their hair (happened once to my Dwight and a Nea, another game it happened to only a random Kate, my most recent match it was all 4 survivors - Dwight, Claudette, Elodie, and Ace)
