"Legion gets a free hit and add ons reworked, we don't know the exact details because we are looking at this on paper." Good job gang, a free hit ignoring pallets and windows puts him above wraith and freddy already. With irridescent button, cold dirt, and bamboozle major loop spots become easy down places since he gets a free hit, breaks pallets, and moves at standard speed now and can block loops preemptively while closing distance with feral frenzy.
-
Since it starts when a gate is open, that could be a little late to start. Amazing visuals, but maybe start the collapse after the last gen is done? People can open the door and have plenty of time to teabag for ages. Since it doesn't take place until after gates are powered, my question is will there be a bloodwarden buff to compliment this?
-
Legion Rework: The Killer does not see the –only the Deep Wound bar to know that Deep Wound has been applied.
So they don't tunnel
-
I mean if this wasn't done there would be no counterplay.
-
Everything from the rework looks good except this The Deep Wound timer progress is no longer reduced by regular Feral Frenzy attacks. This completely renders Legion's power useless, catching survivors with Power won't work anymore since you will get stun every time after you use your power, and you need to wait until its fully charged, can't see Blood etc seems a bit overkill.
If this wasnt done, there wouldn't be counterplay to legion. Gauranteed downs with very little outplay potential.
-
I've said this in two places so far but I want to get this around because I think it will help Legion.
That lets him ignore pallets and windows like burse but with complete control and non linearity. No stun would make him stronger than nurse, dash hit, dash hit.

I dunno, being able to get the first hit on a survivor with little effort, getting 32 meter wallhacks after doing so (remember, Legion's terror radius going from 24 to 32 is a buff, not a nerf), and the fact that when you find multiple survivors at once, you can generally put all of them into Deep Wounds at once, make him pretty good.
They just changed the purpose of Feral Frenzy to no longer be about downing survivors, but be about finding and easily injuring survivors and make them have to mend, while he got a move speed buff so he doesn't need his power to down survivors.
New Deep Wounds is very similar to Pig's reverse bear traps in that sense; their main purpose is not to down/kill the survivor, but instead to just force them to waste time.
Someone smart that gets it, you can chain attacks, get a free chase. Good to find survivors, obsessions etc.
-
Play it first and then see, peeps out here whining. Also, there is no counterplay if he damages meter. Even the nurse has counterplay due to how she works.
-
Really liked this killers design and enjoyed playing them when not using exploits.
Wait for ptb and see how it plays first as well as check out the add on changes. With the old power there was no way around the exploits or lack of counterplay, a killer can unintentionally create a 0 chance scenario just playing them. Seems like you're judging without actually seeing the product so be a bit patient. A lot of people talking without testing like when peeps said legion needed a buff and had exploits and uncounterable down mechanics. Lots of people didn't see how he was.
-
Plague is fine, her add ons that specifically says they buff vile purge buffs her corrupt purge for some reason when they took away the machine gun build from huntress. Legion being updated is great, it shows devs can update the killer with the intent in mind. So I have hope for freddy and trust the devs. Just play the ptb he gets changed on, spend lots of time with him and give lots of feedback.
-
Since survivors don't use spine chill, it's on them. Survivors can easily prevent pig, wraith, spirit, tier 2 meyers, tinkerer, small terror radius sneak ups with this one perk that also gives benefits. But they don't. Survivors have the tool to make that add on worthless almost, but most don't do it. I run spine chill and every survivor I know who runs spine chill don't have that problem. Spine chill lights up, you dip.
-
Spirit main, rank 1 on Xbox since she came out. My main build is BBQ, Ruin, Surveillance, Stridor with speed/duration.
Survivors can easily stop stealth players from most killers with spine chill. Yet they choose not to. I never leave home without spine chill and never got gen grabbed.

Totem spawns should be improved though, it's supposed to be something that is hard to find and not something that just greets you right next to a generator. Though, TOTH can work well if you really want it to stay up.
But 4 survivors looking for ruin? That's such a timewaste, if I see other teammates are looking for it I usually just continue on working on generators.
Someone smart, 4 looking for ruin is a beginner play, it gives the killer way too much time.
-
It's gotten to the point that there is no point in carrying an ebony mori anymore because even if you don't intend to kill them after they get unhooked once, most survivors will just "give up" and more or less give the killer who used a really rare offering the giant middle finger.
Letting go to let people get hatch isn't about a middle finger, it's about being tactful. Sacrificing yourself to not screw someone over. That's pretty fair and gives the survivor less points and prob a gauranteed depip or safety at times.
Killers also prevent survivors from getting points so not a fair argument. Both sides if done really well or really bad prevents the other side from getting points to pip. Both sides if done too well will screw over that side as well.
Closing hatch coming back probably but there needs to be a balance with it. Just eat the fact that the person gets hatch for now, even as killer I swept and I wasn't outplayed, the survivor knows it's luck. There's no teabag, the survivor knows the power of your performance and just runs out asap.

@TreemanXD Well, if you're getting tunneled off the hook, you'll probably never have the chance to use MoM.
Actually you would have it by your death hook, 2 hits initial down, 1 second down, ready for last chase

Maybe they should include the text, but it's once per match. Should do homework first.

@ShyN3ko I've ran this perk and it doesn't activate more than once anyone else will tell you the same if they've played it like I said unless it's bugged on PS4
Not a bug prob, would be dumb to activate more than once. It's once per match.

After getting hit 3 times by a Killer's basic attack, Mettle Of Man activates.
Mettle Of Man will deactivate the next time you are put into the Dying State.
This is description.
I would say you can use it multiple times.
Actually play it, it is once per match. Lol

Her power is easily countered by being outsmarted, relies too heavily on sounds, and her cooldown at base is atrocious. Also she's gonna be ######### by MoM once it's not bugged.
Yeah, she's mid-tier at best now.
Her attacks charge m.o.m and I faced a full team with it multiple times, swept even when I had to hit them 3 times. Peeps freaking out over this m.o.m. perk.

As a spirit main I haven't had any problems what so ever with this perk...
...because I stopped playing the second the update dropped and will wait for the game to be fixed before I start playing again
I play spirit red rank, not much of an issue, extends the chase a little bit. Spirit with stridor gets hits so fast mettle doesn't really add much time. I run the yakeyoke amulet with bloody hair brooch or amulet and dirty uwabakis everygame. I have enough on my p3 and plenty of black wards.

Yup. In a game a friend of mine had someone pulled off the hook, healed up, got hit, got hit again but MoM activated, got hit again into BT, Dead Harded, then got Adren. With any semblance of coordination/planning you can extend a chase for a stupid amount of time. It's insanely strong in an SWF.
One endurance perk per chase would be alright, mettle or borrowed time.

How do you PREVENT it from activating? I mean it's not terribly balanced, just a little but it needs something to PREVENT it from activating that's not a mori, 1 shot, or camping.
Secondary attacks prevent it from activating. Not just one shot. People seem to forget that.
-
Just today I saw a survivor yanking another one off the hook so i tunneled the freshly freed survivor for a quick down and yet they ran off like they got hit but were not downed.
There's a frame of invincibility they have if they cannot control their character.
-
Latency is the problem, it didn't register yet on the killer side, the killer recieves info from the survivor slower than they give info so it causes some stuff

Yeah but I figured it would just be easier to tweak an already existing mode than build a new one.
Have you not seen this community, we are all friends......
That's a good point lol. Maybe we don't have all the perks and items like kyf, but we still get devotion and bp

I'll just get straight to the point:

I mean so you can go into KYF and search for games.
If this is already an option I have not seen it.
Or an unranked mode cause kyf by wording is just friends, an unranked mode would be cool though.

now, i dont want to sound like a smartace, buuutt...
MoM doesnt work if a killer uses his power to hit you, right?
now, yes... freddy does have a basic attack, however he wont hit anyone with it, unless he uses his power on the survivor first. that way he is actually using his power (indirectly, but he still uses it) to hit a survivor, which should deactivate MoM.
its the same as with the nurses hits. a blink hit is achieved with her power, therefore it doesnt count. i bet when she gets a normal lunge attack on a survivor, MoM does work perfectly fine, doesnt it?
even though it probaply aint gonna happen that these get added / stay, i believe this is a good explanation for it ^^
Word, anything that downs with noed should work for mettle of man, bug if it doesn't.

I do have to say, having come from the free for all that is Friday the 13th quick play, rank does help. Is 20 ranks necessary? Debatable. But some levels around a certain amount of time put in does help.
Maybe, there can be ranking or match making based on some ratios...but swf screws that up lol.
-
@PunL said:
@LightsOut88 Maybe if you see this builds neccessary, then its maybe the games way to tell you that this rank is to high for your actual skill-level? I really dont want to be rude, its just as it is.
I am stuck in the purple ranks and thats ok i guess.
As for @bendermac
The dark times are long past... have you experienced pallet vacuums, the ultra long loops like the old cow-tree, or the time when a SWF group could tell each other which perks the killer uses?
The dark times are long gone. I really would like to see the distribution of killer and survivor ranks atm, but from what i see there are far more red killers than red survivors.
Word, cause the rank system changed and survivors are sabotaging each other, it's pretty bad.
-
Now I know this is gonna sound insane, but I constantly find myself coming back to this game regardless of how frustrating or even broken some things can be at certain times.
I agree, also maybe different queue options. Ranked and unranked, survivors cannot squad up for ranked if the rank gap is too big, only 2 survivors squad up at the red ranks in swf like identity v. That game handles some balance pretty well.
-
@ShaneQ said:
I'm Down for exhaustion and broken status after use so it cant be stacked with dead hard
And broken so you can't heal 99% then take MoM hit and finish heal
but permanent broken (may as well change perk name to Mettle of Mither) is too excessive people will just run dead hard instead and another survivor perk nerfed to oblivion lol
Broken for a period of time sounds cool, but can lead to some weird balancing issues. You can also give at 2 exclusive rates, survivor obsession perks tend to have two affects, a weaker version of the effect for the non obsession. Maybe 4 hits to charge for non obsession, I see that at the most. When you play in the higher ranks you should play better killers anyway due to rank and meta.

Hindered doesn't counter MoM. Pinky Fingers aren't sustainable if you need to bring them into every trial.
We also don't know what will come in the future, peeps gotta be patient, where one side is given, the other is given after that. Makes it interesting.
-
@DocOctober said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/403517#Comment_403517
That's absolutely not the point. It is not acceptable that 10-11 Killers will be required to run very specific Perks all the time to counter a single Survivor Perk that will be meta.
And News-flash, for Devour Hope to reach 3 Tokens, you need 3 Hooks and also hope that the Totem won't be destroyed beforehand.
Your argument is utterly ludicrous. Same for @Dabrownman1812 : your solutions are not sustainable.
As with any games, some characters are better for meta. That's how metas work. Too bad yo. I understand, I wanna take freddy to rank 1s and do well but I cannot unlese I use a cheesey strat anyway, that's how it is. I have so many ebony mories on my killers it's nutz, classphoto and black box, so many black wards, p3 so they come up often. These things are doable and that's why it's worth it to p3 your killer. But, I have much better results with better killers, that's how it is.

@DocOctober said:

MoM will become a meta Perk, we all know that. Do you honestly expect Clown mains to bring an Ultra Rare Add-on every single trial? News flash, Survivors, Killer Add-ons are single use, that is not sustainable.
I play plenty of killer, I have loads saved up and still, extra hindered add on helps mitigate damage. I have tons of add ons, I know how killer works, thanks though. I play clown, spirit, freddy, plague.
-
@ricardo said:
''if you are playing the one-hit kill killers this is not an issue''
Thats literally the issue lol, i also dont mind MoM since im only playing nurse and legion but there are people who enjoy playing m1 killers like freddy, wraith, hag etc. This perk forces them to play killers who ignore MoM. Dont you think thats an issue ?
With any game, people playing lower tier characters get punished and have to keep in mind they are at a disadvantage, I play clown, freddy, spirit, plague. Freddy is my main but I know I can be bullied with or without mettle of man because most m1 killers without secondary attacks just get bullied anyway, so I plan accordingly with perks.
-
@DocOctober said:
So you consider 10 out of 15 Killers not able to avoid MoM unless they run 4 specific Perks and hope that they'll proc as completely fine?
The Survivor bias reeks 10 miles upwind.
more than 5 killers can get around mettle of man with their kit
Billy
Legion
Plague
Huntress
Clown
Myers
Trapper can pull trapped survivors from traps
Leatherface
-
@HazeHound said:
If mom will be used as often as ds was you will be seeing Hillbilly on 90% of your games. Especially when windows get fixed.
Mom could work in similiar manner as old ds, obsession gets current perk, while non obsession users have to take 1 or 2 hits more for perk to activate and are revealed on heal no matter the distance.
Would be still strong and it would discourage using it every trial.
Devs once again made perk that is ok when seen once per trial but they forget survivors always abuse such perks and everyone uses them. Yet another way toxic depiping ######### can bully new players with. Good job so far.
There's plenty of killers besides billy that get around m.o.m. in the higher ranks like plague, huntress, legion too but screw him, etc. Clown can get around it too if it runs pinky finger or run extra hindered to make it not too effective. Clown took loops and survior bs well due to the versatile kit. Myers says screw m.o.m too
-
Been playing a few rounds.
Clown can use pinky finger and get around m.o.m. gas with extra hindered also gets quick hits limiting m.o.m.
Billy
Leather
Clown
Huntress
Plague
Legion
Myers
Trapper can pull survivors from traps
Nurse is nurse
Some killers that can get around mettle of man. As with any game, weaker characters have a harder time adjusting to better opponent loadouts n such.

MoM should not trigger with Phantasm Attacks. And also not wih Hatchets.
MoM is now used a lot. It is not that good. People will stop using it, since it is not as good as the Meta Perks. It is decent and tbh it is good that there are finally decent Perks with a Survivor. The last 4 Chapters at least brought nearly no good Survivor Perks.
Mettle should trigger with any hit that gets the noed buff since noed buffs basic attacks, that includes phantasm strikes. However, there are plenty of killers that can bypass mettle of man. As with all games, the meta changes and better killers for the most part adapt better.
Shape
Clown
Huntress
Legion
Plague
Billy
Cannibal
Trapper can grab survivors out of traps
Nurse is nurse
Spirit can rack up hits fast
Several killers who aren't affected/barely affected/can get around mettle of man.
-
@thrawn3054 said:
@NoShinyPony I get that. I also think there are balancing issues that need addressing. But it's still up to the player whether or not they'll allow it to make them miserable. I get the frustration, but how we deal with that frustration is up to each of us.
Well said
-
Myers
-
This time its not a joke. I think its time. I no longer consider dbd fun and worth my time and money.
How does it destroy you as a meyers main? You have exposed and can take people out who are healthy, making mettle of man useless. Maybe you're not playing it right. Mettle works only when a survivor is in injured state. Even if you charge it with the exposed attacks, by the time the third hit is done the survivor is down and death hook, denied the mettle of man. You can also run tombstone piece. Meyers has many options lol.
-
People complain too much.
Billy
Cannibal
Nurse
Huntress
Plague
Legion
Shape
The better killers get through mettle no problem
Trapper can grab someone from a trap and hinder mettle stacks
Clown gets hits really quickly and can run exposed add ons to make mettle of man irrelevant.
Spirit gets hits really quickly so mettle isn't too bad with her.
As with any game ever, better killers deal with meta changes better. With rank and meta, not all killers are equal.

As I answered in a similar post, we are bringing most feedback back to the team and we are even planning communication on some of the issues you mentioned, we just can't go ahead on the communication and we need to stay on the schedule for now.
When it comes to feedback, we do take most of it back to our Design team. Feedback isn't ignored, it is explored. For different reasons, the ideas might make it or not to the game.
Thanks! There are many killers I see in the top medium ranks barely affected by mettle of man. And as with any match, if you pick a weaker killer you'll have a harder time with the meta. Keep up the good work!
-
I faced a full swf team with m.o.m. with freddy and swept. I ran a devour build so will attribute it to that somewhat. But many killers have secondary attacks or ways to bring them down to injured like plague, preventing them from reaping rewards. With meta and tiers, the better killers offer more rewards. All killers are not equal.

Ok, pls tell me how would you counter this perk if you was playing as Hag, Clown or Wraith, I let you choose...
Edit:
Keep in mind everyone in the team you are facing is running MoM, just like old DS...
Lower tier killers can't so rip most of em. Hag, wraith freddy. Just gotta eat it and try devour or other exposed effects. Clown just run the pinky finger. The exposed effect will give them 3 charges but they will be downed and on death hook already. In top rank play anyway you run the best stuff.
-
Missing the point. Secondary attacks prevents it from charging quick. One hit from a secondary and one M1 makes it so it never comes into play if you down them in those chases because it will have 3 stacks when they are already down for death hook. Hitting twice with secondary makes no mettle of man charges and gives you downs. Not all killers have secondary attacks or exposed like meyers/clown but they tend to be lower tier anyway. Rip them. The way they are pushing the ranking, higher tier killers eat mettle of man players up by not letting it proc often anyway.
-

Nope, and the tend to be lower tier for the ranks anyway so rip them.
