On Heal Tech, it's not a bug. It's just how BHVR programmed survivor-killer interactions. As far as I'm concerned, it's intended behavior and the only time it really matters is in very niche situations at the exit gate.
On Crouch Tech. This is likely a bug and not all bugs are quick fixes.
On Chucky. This sounds like a bug and will likely get fixed.
I don't think there's a double standard here.
-
if survivors want to complain that killers have too much aura reading than woo also needs a nerf for the same reason.

When I started posting on these forums, I was thinking that too.
But now, I agree with the general opinion, Dead Hard is fine.
That being said, I'm not sure why does it still give Exhaustion when it's almost irrelevant to the perk.
I think mostly so you can't combo it with other exhaustion perks.

losing 50 times in a row means you are likely doing something wrong. Even on bad nights I can still get multiple escapes before I'm done playing.

He moves at 3.86m/s while throwing knives. Slower than survivors 4.0m/s

You realize hooks insta kill the last survivor right? Even if its their first hook. A finisher mori is nothing much an ego boost for killers so they can relish their 4k.
No one was complaining about cypress mori before and it always had the power to do that.

I think I missed something. Why would the killer wait 60 seconds to hook the final survivor?
You're excuse for why you need to deny moris is due to DS. So would you rather killers force survivors sit on the ground 60 seconds instead of just executing the mori.

The survivor isn't already dead. They could have DS or some other perk that prevents them from getting hooked.
Also, dc is actively discouraged by BHVR.
So you would much rather killer waits 60 seconds to hook the final survivor instead of just ending the game immediately.

This doesn't defeat the point of moris. The point of a mori is to watch your killer murder their victim. Why can't survivors fight back against a mori?
It would be fair to say the chase is the fight against a mori, but the same could be said of hooking, and survivors still get a tiny chance of escaping being hooked.
The Mori is just a special way to kill off a survivor who was already dead. The only exception is Devour Hope.
If you really don't want to see the Mori animation, just d/c.

You have to play around the perks as if the killer has them, because you can't see their loadout. hth
Most killer aura perks are not a real concern since they don't see much use.
The ones you will actually see are as follows:
Lethal - aura reveal once at start. Changed Distortion still starts with 1 token if you don't want to be the first one chased. Otherwise just pay attention to your surroundings, something you should be doing anyways.
BBQ - Hide in a locker after the killer picked up a dying survivor.
Nowhere to Hide - Best thing to do is to get far away from the gen before the killer kicks it.
Nurses - Don't heal inside a killer's TR. If a stealth killer, be alert.
Friends - Really the same counter play as BBQ and just hop into a locker as the obsession. You can use the expose duration as a timer.
Undying - Killers aren't really using this for tracking. It tells you the first time you step in range of a dull, so start looking for hexes.
Weave - About to get changed, but currently it tells you when you are being shown so use that knowledge.
Honestly the best thing you can do to beat aura reading perks is to just be good at chase. It doesn't really matter if the killer knows you are there if they will either waste time chasing you or ignore you to try to chase an easier target.
-
I'm sure her killrate will drop, but a 0% kill rate will never happen for any killer.
-
Distortion has always hid scratch marks when it triggered. Not to mention the perk now charges up by being in chase which is where scratch mark hiding is actually useful.
I wouldn't take away the scratch mark hiding.

The reason why info was not meta is because it was just nurses bbq and bitter Murmur lol ,why would info be meta then?
Now starting with neme then up to knight the aura reading perks and add ons is through the roof why are taking about the past like that matter, it's about today and the future.
BBQ was meta and Nurses wasn't uncommon on many killers.
Likewise, there wasn't much slowdown either. You had Thana, Dying Light and Ruin. Pop was there for regression.

There are actually 25 reading aura perks (plus a lot of addons) for killers. Distortion was the only genuine counter to killer aura perks and it's useless now. A killer can see survivors aura almost from EVERYTHING. Hit gen - aura. Surv finish repair gen - aura. Surv repair gen together - aura. Hung on a hook surv - aura. Carrying a survivor on a hook - aura near scourge hook. Open locker - aura near all lockers. Surv healing - aura. Surv open chest - aura. Surv destroy totem - aura. Run near totem - aura. Surv go at basement - aura. Surv staying near open gate - aura. Run near empty item (Weave Attunement) - aura. End chase (Predator) - aura
That's insane!
1. BBQ & Chili
2. Awakened Awareness
3. Lightborn
4. Territorial Imperative
5. Nowhere to Hide
6. A Nurse's Calling
7.Undying
8. Rancor
9. Bitter Murmur
10. Friends 'Til The End
11. Face the Darkness
12. Weaved Attunement
13. Darkness Revealed
14. I'm All Ears
15. Gearhead
16. Lethal Pursuer
17. Alien Instinct
18. Blood Warden
19. Deerstalker
20. Grim Embrace
21. Hex: Retribution
22. Nemesis
23. Predator
24. Scourge Hook: Hang Man's Trick
25. Shattered HopeI'll be on the lookout for killers running 25 perks
-
Killers still only have 4 perk slots. Most aura reading perks still see practically no use. Weave is already slated for changes.
Plus Distortion is already confirmed to get a buff to charge tokens in 15 seconds in chase instead of 30 seconds.
Overall, survivors will be fine.

@Halloulle said:
the reduction to 15s makes it quite a bit better. - Though, given that there's plenty of killers where you effectively don't have chase is what makes the whole while-in-chase-thing a mit meh. But for that chase as a mechanic needs to get overhauled. - You can have a three gen chase with a Wraith and still not even have thirty seconds of chase according to the game. You can dodge a huntress for three gens and not have a single second of chase. And so on. It's not all killers but it adds yet another level of conditions that are out of a player's hands and make it miserable. —- That being said; I don't hold my breath for the chase mechanic to ever get changed.
There's far fewer cases where survivors will never be in chase compared to survivors never being in TR. Also Distortion was already hard to regen against good Wraiths and Huntress since Huntress has a small TR and damage you at range and Wraith can stay cloak until they setup for a lunge.
With the buff to 15s, it'll be a solid counter against I'm All Ears or the new Predator since Distortion also hides your scratch marks meaning you should be able to easily lose the killer.
Overall the perk rewards keeping the killer busy and the nerf overall means the dev have an easier time adding in new perks that block auras without Distortion being the defacto best in slot.
-
Unless you make pickups instant, this would make it too easy to secure pallet saves and killers would just be forced to slug any survivor under any pallet.
-
Killers were slugging for the 4K before the Mori update. This isn't a new issue and the solution isn't to give survivors unbreakable basekit. If you really care about reducing the need for killer to slug survivors for the 4K, then hatch needs to be reworked so it's not just a luck based escape for the survivor.
-
I doubt they were trying to avoid the mori.
Also it would be silly to ######### on hook to avoid the mori that only is available when you are the last survivor standing.

How many legitimate accounts do you think downloaded the game when it was free and haven't played a single minute since then? I'm only talking about accounts that haven't played it a single minute since they downloaded it during the free period, not people who have played it but then took a break for a very long time. I think the number of real people you would be negatively impacting would be close to zero.
Whether or not you believe this would be valid for DBD, I would rather this not be something storefronts just do to fight cheaters. It's about not setting a precedent that it's okay for companies to remove unplayed games from people's accounts.
-
@I_Cant_Loop said:

If the account has never played the game once in the however many years it's been since the free game was offered, that's a pretty good sign that it's a burner account for cheaters and not a legit account. The number of legit accounts that got the game but haven't played it yet since that time way long ago is probably close to zero, so you would be impacting almost no legitimate accounts.
I would rather not give these storefronts permission to remove game access from accounts just because the game they have access to hasn't been played for years.

Isn't there a way to simply deactivate any of the free Epic accounts that haven't been used yet? If so, seems that would be a good way to at least get rid all of the Epic "burner accounts" that cheaters have been using.
Epic should have the ability to revoke game access. Personally I find it to be a bigger issue if platforms start revoking unplayed games to stop cheaters even if the games were initially gained for free.
-
It shouldn't effect Snap Out Of It and I would report that as a bug. However, Doctor should be draining these tokens quite quickly if survivors are missing skill checks often due to his power so I imagine it should be harder to maintain stacks with greats.
-
It's not that the devs don't care about addressing cheaters, it's just that cheaters don't just stop trying to cheat because old cheats got shut down. They simply look for new ones.
Also this came into my recommended one day and I watched it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGa_sAwljUAThe other issue is that cheaters even if they do get banned, will create new accounts and continue cheating anyways. Really helped by when Epic was giving the game away for free a few years ago.

I refuse to believe it was due to “balance issues” alone. Yes, there are extremely obnoxious builds and playstyles that almost intentionally invite “going next”, but that doesn’t explain the sheer amount of it happening right now. People are going next in perfectly winnable games, throwing them in the process.
SM is the perfect example. It never was a balance issue with her. Was she obnoxious? That’s ultimately subjective. Yet even after her, what, fourth major update, people are still going next against her.
I say remove hook suiciding altogether. It’s become its own symptom regarding low survivor morale, and thus self-perpetuating. That way, people are actually forced to play, and in doing so may actually figure out how to counter the strategies/killers they so despise.
Yes, forced. You queue’d up, you’re here to play a game. If that turns out to be an issue for you, the dc button is right there. Take responsibility and either play the game, or eat the penalty.
We’ll figure out the balance issues from there.
Also by removing the easy ways to remove oneself from the game without a penalty, maybe some of these people will realize they don't actually like the game and stop playing altogether.
I feel like many of the constant hook suiciders just don't enjoy DBD as a whole
-
Slugging for 4K only exists due to how the hatch works. If you actually want to reduce the need to slug for 4K, then you need to change how hatch works.
-
The finisher mori is not what incentives slugging for 4K. It's the hatch and how it works. If you want to reduce slugging for the 4K, then you need to change up the hatch so that killers don't feel helpless at getting the 4K if they kill the 3rd survivor.
-
Survivors need to learn how to waste time with chases. It's far more beneficial for the team as a whole of everyone can keep the killer busy and not just rely on never being found.

survivors already do. The fact still remains that killers still only have 4 slots for perks. Weave is on the next batch of perk adjustments and it's the only too strong aura perk killers currently have.

Umm killers have 8 perk slots, that will be their 4 perks+ two add on + their power . Oh how about a plague killing every healing builds in the game and robbing the arti emblem for free is fair? I think she should be changed then and what's wrong with asking for aura reads to be more limited to 4 stacks like distortion. If survivors ain't to perm stealth killers should not be fed free info 100% of time. Use nth 4 time's? Ok now you gotta search harder to find a survivor via old tools scratch marks pools of blood or game sense and knowledge of possible hiding spot. Also again lighborn should not negate a flashlight or flashbang infinitely for self defense or team saving but I guess it's OK right?
I didn't realize Killers could run 8 perks. I should log in and run a build like Pain Res, Pop, BBQ, Lethal, Corrupt, Nowhere to Hide, Surge, and Bamboozle with this newfound knowledge.
If you want to count "addons and powers" then survivors have 16 perks, 8 addons, and 4 items compared to a killer's 4 perks, 2 addons, and 1 power. Survivors have more tools whereas Killers have stronger tools.

Survivor seeing killer breaking stuff with Alert, no survivor input required.
Kindred: doesn't matter if you or your teammate is hooked, it shows the aura.
Object: every 30s you see the killer while you do nothing. See the killer when they see you and still do nothing.
Bond/Empathy: do nothing
Should I go on?
Object does require you to be the obsession for the every 30 seconds reveal.
Also Windows is probably the biggest offender of "no input required" aura reading.
-
So nothing has actually changed, because killers were already slugging for the 4K due to hatch mechanics.
-
@buggybug said:
me healing or being heal by someone else aka nurses= takes no input from killer
Me unhook and gets reveal = takes no input from killer
Opening a locker and finding me still don't count as input from killer.
Kicking a gen which requires a survivor to work on one also is no input from the killer.
Hitting good(use to be great skill checks) on gen the killer sees me with yet again no input from killer
Notice how far killers get free info for nothing but from survivors doing their jobs? @Crowman. I still need a answer why killers must be allowed free info. Also don't be shocked when things like nth be asked for nerfs.
It's a 1v4. The killer perks are going to be stronger on a direct comparison to what survivors have access to, because a killer only has 4 slots whereas a team of survivors has 16.
Also everything requires no input if you ignore things that do require input. Gearhead requires you injure a survivor. Opening a locker is an input. Kicking a gen is an input.
Nurses may not require a specific key press, but the killer still has to be close to you for the aura reveal and often means you already see or hear the healing action already. Nurses isn't even popular right now as it's not very strong for the slot.
-
@buggybug said:
I love how killers think aura reading perks from add ons or perks arent as crutch or more of a crutch than distortion, obviously why distortion use sky rocket was cause of too much aura reading. I challenge a killer to give me a add on or aura perk that takes skill from their part other than BBQ that requires you to hook someone. What killers use to do when aura reading never use to exist? Side note I run OOO so don't ask for that to be nerfed please.
If DBD was a 1v1 game, then previous distortion would have been fine. But it's not a 1v1 game, it's a 1v4 game. Distortion was too strong for what it did and it affected your teammates by making them easier targets. Now distortion requires survivors be a little bit aggressive for stacks instead of just hiding the entire time.
Plus what people always seem to forget to mention when they bring up killer aura reading is the slot cost. If a killer is running 4 aura perks then gens should fly meaning that while the killer is capable of finding survivors, they lack the means to effectively defend gens. Not to mention many aura reading perks are still bad and don't see use. So ultimately survivors really only need to be prepared to deal with whatever the top 5 aura reading perks are.
-
This is ultimately why Skull Merchant changes are problematic, now we have survivors asking to nerf Freddy.

Well at least the killer playing the game and looking for them this is called gameplay, what is my gameplay when I was on the ground ?
If walking around looking for survivors is considered gameplay then being left on the ground for 4 minutes is just as much gameplay as you can still crawl and move around the map.
-
It's just entitlement. People have decided that the only games worth playing are ones where they win in the way they want to. Anything else is just "go next" , because very little has been to done to reduce the reward for match shopping.
-
@DeBecker said:
Cause devs think that BMing as killer is fine. Why do you think this killer community is so disgustingly toxic?
Survivors are free to bm killers
-
I think the concept of a "healthy gameplay" is too broad and way too overused as a complaint about game balance.
Frankly we've seen plently of anti-tunnel and anti-camping systems be added to survivors basekit yet they will never be happy, because they don't want to weaken strong strategies used to win. They just want to be immune which goes against the fact it's a 1v4 elimination game.
Yet never do we see rewards for killers opting to not tunnel or camp which are strong ways to build pressure when done right. In fact we are seeing a rise to slugging, because hooks have been nerfed several times without any meaningful buffs elsewhere to the killer.
Plus if focusing your objective to completion was unhealthy we would also see mechanics in place to prevent a survivor from doing a gen from 0-100 by themselves.
-
I remember when teabagging at exit gate was complained about at people said you couldn't just ban players for crouching.
In the same vein, you can't just ban players for walking back and forth.

You mean how everyone was happy about Haste removal only for them to re-add it back. Or how they decided to randomly nerf her speed when using her scanner.
None of the changes coming to live have tackled any of the issues people have with the ptb version and are just as bad if not worse than the original ptb stuff.

Current distortion is necessary, with how out of hand these killer aurora wallhack perks have gotten. They are crutching on aurora you can literally see a killers brain melt then they kick a gen expecting to see an aurora but get nothing. Aurora reveal in general needs a rework if you are going to nerf distortion.
a killer can only run 4 perks and most aura perks see no use anyways. Weave is already set to be nerfed next. It's really not an issue that requires distortion to be as strong as it was.
Also what do you want killers to run because we've already nerfed slowdown and chase perks. The rise in aura perks is a direct response to slowdown being nerfed. In other words, killers adapted meanwhile you complain
