  • My only issue with the event itself is the envelopes. Half the time the map is so big and I can't even get a full rotation. I have made laps around maps and never found my envelope and it is kind of annoying

so we have to escape so killer going to be easy to get the masks?

Assuming the extra 2 is the Haddie and Dredge outfits in the tome

There's only one at a time, but it will respawn shortly after when someone takes it. They move frequently as well, so make sure to recheck areas you've already searched.

Is an escape/certain amount of kills required as well or just picking it up?

Nope. I just got a 3k and still got the reward, im pretty sure you just have to get the invitation is all.

Thanks for letting me know. Text on the description was kinda confusing. Would be nice to have a dev or someone confirm how it works

I don't recall seeing this? We had one not too long ago, though.

The flans serve as similar purpose, anyway.

I could have sworn I heard them say during the stream that we are getting everything we got last year and then some. If I remember correctly we had a bloodhunt during the 5th anniversary. Maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah. Back some time when you could see other peoples grades you had lots of posts saying "how is that possible? Me poor Ash 4 killer against Iri 1 death squad!!!1", and people would always come forth and explain that a) grade had nothing to do with MMR (true) and b) that it was just a function of time invested since last rank reset (false) and didn't denote any skill at all (false).

What this people fail to grasp is that you still have to play consistently good in order to reach the higher reaches; nay, not only play consistently good, but play 4-5 games back to back consistently good, without RNG or MMR screwing you over. Its really frustrating when you work your way up to 4 pips and then a series of bad games send you back to zero.

I would really, really prefere it a lot if grades were indeed just a function of time played. You wouldn't have to sweat your ass off, but still rank up over time naturally by the medium to good games you got, without the constant fear and frustration of losing it all.

Exactly. The struggle becomes especially noticeable after hitting gold. You could have a few good games only to be screwed by MMR/RNG and hit the bottom of rank again. Makes it a nightmare. I gave up ranking up my killer because it was just to much expectation for trying to play some casual matches

  • Definitely time for depiping to go. I struggle to have fun playing a lot of the time because I have to always worry about whether I did enough to pip

BHVR isn’t known for keeping to its word however. How long has it been since they said They would rework certain loops?

Also I had a Ace in my last game this morning before work and he was a very scary hook rescuer. I would spend like ten seconds looking around to make sure someone wasn’t hiding around the hook, once I took ten steps there he was. Pulling that Meg off the hook. Like a ghost.

This is true. And instead they created a new map with all the issues they have been working to remove from maps over the years. Guess we will have to hope.

Oh and I'm convinced there is only ten people who play Ace in existence but when you see one you know you are probably in for a rough time. We are a jack of all trades

  • I have been having quite a bit of fun giving killers PTSD picking up in pallets with my Power Struggle, Flip Flop, Unbreakable combo. Nothing funnier than watching them search the area, get pallet stunned anyway, then lose their mind searching the area again thinking they are going insane.

Apart from that: Renewal and Deliverance are two of my favorites when I actually get to use them because they encourage me to help my team while helping me. Also like Any Means Necessary or Windows of Opportunity so I know which pallets have been used

As killer, I prefer Dying Light for a gen slowdown that permanently will remain active (seeing as how no one normally dies in my games till way later). Hex: Plaything is also a lot more useful then some people would think.

  • I am an Ace main and I am proud. I linked the post in my comment. If they were removing them it probably would have said they would be removed

  • According to the article linked on their news page, the mori offering will be changed to fit the new system though it didn't specify how. I'm assuming this means the offerings will remain in the game but with a different effect.

Edit: This is the post: https://deadbydaylight.com/news/mori-rework

  • My matches definitely feel like they have gotten better at least for killer since the tests. I at least now stand somewhat of a chance. I just don't play at night against SWF because at that point it starts becoming not fun overall. I find MMR really sucks for survivor. It sucks at taking an average of SWF scores, it sucks at giving you teammates that match your score for solo queue, it sucks at giving you a killer at your MMR (most of the time the killer is significantly higher and I get destroyed or significantly lower and can't even compete). The win conditions are incredibly terrible for it and I don't know why they thought grading it off of that was a good idea when everyone told them they didn't like it

  • A private profile is far from meaning they are cheating. Here on Playstation a lot of killers have their messages locked as well. It simply boils down to the fact this game is toxic. Not a lot of people like being abused on their profile/messages just for playing a match and doing well (and even sometimes doing poorly). Mine ended up getting turned off as I had multiple SWF's wish death to me and my family, tell me to off myself, threats to ruin my game next time or take action against my account. It gets old

The Game is not survivor sided at all. Killers have free reign. I can absolutely attest to it, as that's where I bring survivors all the time for the fun games

I'd say it depends. On most cases it can favor survivors more. But if playing a killer with a decent anti-loop or someone built for enclosed spaces like Legion or Doc survivors will be in for a very difficult game. Take someone like Trapper, Wraith (assuming he doesn't have silent bell + wall add-ons), Demogorgon, Leatherface, etc. and it won't end very well. The map has a lot of pallets compared to others and a lot of them are decently safe as well. Once you learn the layout it becomes easy to escape

  • I disagree. It's been in the game for a while and part of the fun is going to a map that works well with a build/strategy. Sure sometimes it doesn't work out well but can't win em all.

This is the exact rule if you're curious. For the most part, names are fine as long as they're not the person people are complaining about.

    1. If your post may reflect negatively on another person or people, please censor their name(s)

Cheers mate! I'm part of the subreddit and all posts there have to have all names blocked out with no exceptions. Couldn't remember for sure if it was the same here or not

  • Even as someone who plays survivor I think it should go one step further. At the End Game Collapse it should deactivate permanently as at that point the killer is doing whatever they need to in order to secure kills. You are no longer being tunnelled. The gens are done. The killer is just trying to secure the remaining kills you have left. You are right about the doors. The devs said when changing the perk if you have time to touch a gen, it means you aren't really being tunnelled. I think the same applies to the gate

It's blurred enough where you can't read the name so there's no name shaming

I don't know how good your eyes are mate, but I can read the names you didn't cross out clear as day. I could write them all right here for you if you wanted to prove it

  • This is why killers get nerfed to uselessness. A new killer comes out that is actually useful and provides somewhat of a challenge to survivors and instead of learning to counter them the first thing people do is complain about it being overpowered. I have played many games against Dredge so far. Sometimes they are better than me, can corner me/cut me off and apply pressure causing me to die. Other times I outsmart them at loops, mindgame locker teleports and vanish into thin air. It is all about learning counterplay and accepting the fact that some people will inevitably outplay you.

If you have such an issue with nightfall try running literally any aura reading perk. It doesn't give you blindness. Bond and Empathy can tell you where other people are running. Windows will tell you where loops are. Any Means Necessary can show you what pallets are being dropped and where. Spine Chill will tell you if he is looking in your direction.

So if i go to prestige a killer/survivor for the first time after the prestige changes i won't get the bloody set? Or i do get bloody set plus whatever new changes they add?

The way it works is after the rework, you will be able to get the bloody cosmetic corresponding to that prestige tier (up to three) while keeping perks, items, add-ons and offerings. You only get the distinct reward for having a character prestige three BEFORE the rework goes live. I believe prestige levels one and two will be compensated as well, but they will NOT get the distinct reward because they were not prestige three. After the rewards are given for compensation and the rework is pushed through to live servers, you can NOT earn these distinct rewards again, but WILL be able to earn bloody clothes like you do now. Hope this helped clear it up and anyone who knows more feel free to add!

Earnable cosmetics by hitting devotion would be cool

I like this idea. Only issue I could see with it is that it wouldn't apply for outfits that couldn't be bought with shards. Maybe every level of devotion you get an "unlock token" and one token can be used to by 1 piece of an outfit (or a whole outfit. These are just suggestions) for any cosmetic that can be bought with iridescent shards.

    @[Deleted User] said:

I agree. There's literally no point of devotion right now. They could have just made it so you can level up past 100 and 1000 if devotion is not supposed to do anything.

Now, look for a game with the one you rock, and once you have your teammates assigne, change to that awful survivor and tell me what happens

Honestly, make it an item, like an adrenaline shot. An item that on use just Dead Hard's you (assuming you're injured). It would provide a lot of counterplay options as killers could run Franklin's, Overwhelming Presence, etc, and know to run them if they see the item in the lobby. Meanwhile survivors could play around with other exhaustion perks, because why the hell not, let the adrenaline shot stack with Sprint Burst. It also limits how many times a killer can be dead-harded in a match to the item's remaining charges.

I don't think this would fix the issue. If anything, stacking it with another exhaustion perk would make it worse. Everyone would run that item and stack it with something like Lithe or Sprint Burst so now they have the speed boost plus the invulnerability/distance from the adrenaline shot.It only takes the use of dead hard one time to double a chase. Plus you would have to then find a new use for Dead Hard. They won't remove the perk. It is as simple as that. People need to accept the fact that perks in this game are here to stay (with the exception of the ones turned generic from licensing)

  • The devs have confirmed that is how the system works as of right now, but that it will be changed in the future to accommodate better. MMR doesn't really work right now so it wouldn't shock me if you were right

It doesn't have anything to do with winning. I've escaped plenty of matches where I was hooked within the first minute, sometimes being double hooked before the second gen popped, and a few of them even being the only one surviving, so "winning" is relative.

But one thing is playing a disastrois match because the killer is playing you like a punching ball, qnd a different thing is being unhooked in the face of the killer, without BT. Because basically, you are not playing, someone is just being an idiot and running your game.

On the other hand, we are ignoring the real punishment: MMR. Once you start to drop, it's a nightmare. I main Jake and my MMR is decent, usually getting nice matches with nice teammates. The moment I play Leon, for example, escaping becomes a utopia, because I barely user him and I'm paired with worst players and it's really hard to move up on the ranks with him

I hate to break this to you bud, but killers are the only ones who have different MMR. Your survivors all share the same MMR...

  • Ah. I wonder what it could be. I've been suspecting a charm honestly, but I'm hoping to be surprised with something else

  • While I'm not denying that Dredge is an absolute beast and pressuring all over the map with hit and run, I've also noticed it isn't just him doing well. I've noticed the Boons (especially Circle of Healing) starting to die out and the hit and run tactic making a comeback.

  • @tofurkey_jerky said:

Nobody knows, all we know is that the reward won't be a cosmetic. I really hope the reward won't be too good, I don't even have the builds I want on every killer, never mind p3.

Did the devs actually confirm it wouldn't be a cosmetic? It would make sense because I can't imagine they would be able to make a new cosmetic for licensed characters without talking to license holders.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2993037#Comment_2993037

I am okay not knowing WHAT the reward is. I just need to know if having every single perk at purple tier on a character "counts" or if they expect me to flush that all down the drain.

Considering it says evaluated based on Prestige I am assuming that means Prestige one, two and three. So no, level 50 probably wouldn't count. I've only seen a mention of rewarding prestige 3, but I'm also out of the loop severely

  • There is no such thing as removing the perk now that it is is the game. Dead Hard is here, and to be completely honest it will probably always have some sort of ability like it does now. I can see reworks for sure, the easiest being removing the invincibility frames or the distance so you don't have both.

  • @anarchy753 said:

I think comparing this stretch to the Dark Days is a bit of a poor comparison.

The Dark Days was largely due to the growing pains that any game goes through, and from there they largely improved the game drastically in terms of balance.

This recent stretch has instead just been a huge period of stagnation and poor decisions from the devs. MMR was not well received, the meta has been phenomenally stale, and that's not just the last year, it's been stale for a long time, but the longer it goes on the worse it feels. They keep making decisions that show they've unlearnt lessons they learnt in the past, ie. not leaving too many windows open on one building, not making maps ######### enormous, hell even just map reworks like Gideon show that they for some reason think it's acceptable to have a god pallet every 2 steps after years of removing broken pallets from older maps. Perk and killer reworks for the most part have been unsatisfactory and show a lack of understanding of why they needed reworking. Also don't forget it took them like 3 years to balance Self-Care to the point where it took the same net time as a two-man heal, then slapped in a perk that gives everyone on the team Self-Care with a speed boost.

I would say this has been 100% the worst period for Dead by Daylight, not necessarily because the game is in its worst state, but that the general enjoyment has dropped steadily and the decisions have been somewhere between bad and baffling. We've had lots of promise that there'll be changes, but not much change. I'm eager to see this 40 perk rework to see whether they've actually changed, or they're maintaining their nonsensical approach to buffs and nerfs.

I don't think I could have said this better myself. Like someone mentioned above, Fog Whispers should play a major role in balancing as they play the game consistently and a good bit of the time make accurate recommendations (however the community as a whole still should be listened to)

  • I believe they said in the anniversary stream they are looking into base game changes as well and I hope that is one of them. Gens definitely go way to quick, especially against people who know what they are doing. I'm worried that a change to speeds won't change much though as gen rushing will always be the most effective strategy to secure survivors an escape (and I can't fault them for that)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2992909#Comment_2992909

You’re missing the point. I report the DC as unsportsmanlike too. But the new reality is 4 people (killer included) are in an unfair game through no fault of their own and only one player, the killer, has the ability to remedy the situation and make it fair. Choosing to recognize the unfair situation and make it an equal experience for everyone is sportsmanlike. Choosing to slaughter 3 other players that are at a massive disadvantage is unsportsmanlike. That’s just the fact.

You dont fix the DC situation by making the penalty harsher. People will always DC and/or suicide on hook. Recognize the reality that survivors will often quit and ruin a game and create this situation. They need to allow the survivors to surrender. If a DC happened and I could hit surrender and take 0 points and and give the killer 20k i would. If they made it a vote where all the survivors have to agree to leave, fine. Something, anything would be better than forcing us to play an unwinnable match. It’s frankly just cruel but they don’t care. What? Make the poor killer get in the same boat you’re stuck in? Heavens no!… lol. Best to just let them run roughshod over you guys so he’s happy.

So judging by the last few lines of that reply you want the killer to be miserable with you and have to sit through 20 minutes of everyone doing nothing. In that situation I would let myself die as well so I could move on to the next actual match (unless my team was actively trying in which case I'll go for it). If I play killer I am not waiting for you to make a few extra points just for the sake of your entitlement. Take that up with the person who disconnected and punish them.

What are you gonna do if a surrender system is implemented and you can't get that last person to surrender? You gonna complain about that as well? There is nothing unsportsmanlike about the killer performing their goal to kill you. It doesn't matter how much of a chance you stand because of your teammate's disconnect. If you can't see that then this obviously isn't the game for you and maybe you should go play Civilization ;)

Put a leash on the entitlement buddy. It doesn't always revolve around you, but I know you won't bother to see it from the other side

  • I would be all for this. Lately I have seen a lot of people use Dead Hard moronically, but when used right it is crippling to the killer. One perk shouldn't have that much power. I would even be up for a trade as others suggested whether it be a killer like Nurse, Corrupt Intervention, Pain Resonance, etc. Perk definitely is in need of a rework

  • Boon totems (considering that without Shattered Hope, which in all my matches I've played since the update I've seen used a grand total of once, there is no penalty if it gets stomped out and you put it back up.)

The Freddy Rework-Newer players won't remember this but I stand by the fact that Freddy was better in his old version. Even though you had to wait for survivors to fall asleep, the aura reading across map, gen slowdown and forced failed skill checks were amazing for pressure

The multiple tiers of Badham-Too confusing to learn tile locations and spawns for five variants when the tiles can still change each time you load in. Keeping the original map with some of the tiles changing (ex. pallet and window spawns) would have been better in my opinion

Midwich-Because for some reason my teammates always have the navigational abilities of a person without their glasses, get lost and become no help

  • This is one of the issues that I would love to see a fix to, but have just accepted the harsh reality. Bubba is meant to counter hook rush and pressure areas and some people in the game who use the strategy of camping will obviously use that to their advantage. At the end of the day he still has to catch you to place you on the hook. I accepted the fact that when I play against Bubba I do whatever it takes to not be the first one hooked or test the waters.

  • Doesn't do anything as far as I'm aware. My question is do you only play Myers as a main? Myers has no real anti-loop and he lacks severely in map pressure. Killers like Sadako, Freddie, Billy, Blight have decent map pressure from quick movement speed/teleportation and killers like Legion, Nurse, Pyramid Head have strong anti-loop which can end chases quickly. I'd say consider trying a few different killers and see if you get decent results. I agree, the gen speeds are way to quick right now, and it is even more efficient for 3 people to work on separate gens than on the same one because of how quick they are and how you can produce pressure. Until that changes, you either need meta perks for gen slowdown or you need a killer to has a fighting chance

  • Pretty sure this is bait and everyone is falling for it. But hell I'll bite too.

The problem you should be focused on is your teammates disconnecting so early in the match. The DC penalty needs to be harsher in my opinion. Someone who does it 3 times in close proximity should be a few hours banned at minimum. You really expect the killer to just sit there while you farm? News flash buddy, the killers don't find it fun when someone disconnects either as it ruins the game/thrill of the chase for us as well. Most of the killers want to move on to the next actual game instead of sitting around so you can get a few extra points. Stop throwing in false reports. It's reasons like that why the system hardly works in the first place

  • You could always just force them out the gate? Most times that is where they are at

I mean I win plenty of games without playing toxic....I just choose to do it anyways half the time

Basement Bubba is unfortunately not even the meta, just pure facecamp bubba with 4x slowdown perks or nemesis rancor is way better

I'll have to keep that in mind

But according to your other post you want to continue the toxicity? This is why I’m thinking of giving the game up because of the BS on both sides. I’m just not enjoying either role right now.

Not continuing the toxicity, more of fighting back against it. The toxicity on the survivor side is much more prevalent and I can almost assure you that is the motivator behind a lot of killer toxicity. In this case where I'm having no fun with the killer role I am fighting fire with fire

  • @Lx_malice said:

I think the issue is your "nice guy" attitude. You seem to think that the survivors owe you for you playing "nice" when in reality they don't. It's your choice to play that way. If you want play toxic then just do it. These posts always give me the impression of that one guy who buys the girl all these gifts and then gets mad when she doesn't want to lay him. If you want to be "nice" you do it out of the kindness in your heart and not because you expect something. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Sure the survivors should at least have the decency to say "Wow this guy didn't tunnel anyone out of the game and still got 9 hooks, maybe I shouldn't act like an ass an tbag at the gate." Yeah they're #########, but it's not like they forced you to play that way.

    Just do you bruh.

It has nothing to do with being nice. It is just the way that I'm used to playing and what has worked for me. But obviously it isn't working anymore so I changed it up. I don't believe that anyone owes me for playing the way I play, but I'm also sick of having game after game of getting every build snuffed out while people sit there smug at the end game

  • Unpopular opinion: you shouldn't have let yourself get caught. There is a bunch of pallets on the map, perks to prolong chases, and you have 3 other teammates where if all else fails you can pass the killer to. Next time don't get caught first.

Side note: You are seeing camping a lot because it is becoming more effective or people are reaching the point where they are frustrated enough to camp. If there wasn't so much toxicity in 85 percent of matches there might be less camping. But I forgot this is a game and God forbid some people play it for fun

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

You do you I guess although you'll eventually inflate your mmr doing that and get people who won't fall for basement camping

Doesn't always have to net all 4 kills. As long as I get someone I technically still did better then the games I keep getting. And MMR doesn't seem to work anyway so the concern there isn't that big

1 2 3 4 5 … 23
