  • I've been thinking a bit about how killers can dodge survivors but survivors have no option but to dc a match they don't want to play.

What if you could rate a killer or survivor with a personal score at the end of the match out of 5. If they play toxic you could give them a 1 if they played fun like a champ you could give a 5.

The score would be shown in the lobby nothing else. The score would be personal and only you could see it.. Everyone would have their own score.

It could help the community with curbing the toxicity and dc'ing overall imo.

  • Why do we need to buff arguably the most used perk in the game? How about we buff some weaker perks to the same level to change up this stale meta a bit

  • Ive played six matches today, Three were 3 man games from the start, 1 was a 2 man game from the start,

One was a hillbilly with the same boring build that everyone uses.. he didn't move more than 10 feet from the hook, He 1 hooked 3 people and i got hatch..

The other was a wraith that didn't move more than 10 feet from the hook and just kept downing the same person.. So freaking boring.

The game is in a ######### state at the moment. There are a massive amount of bugs and problems.

The devs have their work cut out for them and they need to make some big improvements before they start banning players imo

  • There is no way a ban on disconnecting can be enforced in the current state of the game.. Killers bodyblocking stairs, infinite loading screens, stuck in place bugs, OP Addons, SWF bullies, 1,2,3 Man games(which are surprisingly common and unbalanced/unfun), Nurse, other random bugs, Hardcore tunneling(boring), Camping (boring), Toxic survivors, Legion snooze fests, etc etc etc etc.

Some dbd matches are either bug filled or #########.

There should be no punishment for dcing at least under 40% until most of this is resolved or had some vast improvements.

    All IMO of course.

Basically, to give both sides the same "powers" pre-game would be fair, yes. But I consider it Bullshit that Killers can dodge because of a Toolbox or paid cosmetics (yes, someone here mentioned it that he will dodge if more than one Survivor has paid Cosmetics..). And only because one side can do that, there is no need that this Bullshit is enforced even more.

I would prefer that neither side would get this information. At least names should be hidden.

And well... You can see the Killers Loadout after the game. You just need to wait until it is finished. Which is completely fine, to use your logic: The Killer also only sees the Survivors Loadout (in term of Perks) after the game.

I agree in large with what you have posted. I only want this game to be fair and balanced for everyone playing it. It annoys me a bit when a bunch of killers keep dodging and dodging lobbies to cherrypick the survivors they get to face.

I wish survivors could blacklist a killer or two and have a warning pop up in the campfire saying hey this is a killer you don't like.. would you like to dodge now?

Or maybe a rep system where you give the killer a score after the match. In the lobby you can only see the score of the killer like a rep sort of thing. And the score you see would only be made from your own rep given to the killer over time. Every survivor would have their own score.

Im just trying to think of ways to balance out the fairness a bit.

Hey thanks for chatting with me about this @Aven_Fallen :)

  • I've had that happen a bunch times.. It feels #########.. Ive also been hit like at least 20m from the window maybe more.. The killer then vaulted the window and walked all the way over to where i was on the ground lol

  • Less skill required than huntress.. but not as fun to verse (instadown hatchets not included)

  • There is nothing worse than a killer bringing in an ebony mori, downing you then coming straight back for you after the unhook for the easy kill.. Its so freaking boring.

Insta heals go hand in hand with them though. They would both have to be nerfed/changed together.

  • Yes, I deliveranced myself infront of a close up facecamping leatherface. He hit me as i was falling to the ground. I wobbled my way out to the exit gate and promptly teabagged him on my way out.

  • @HazeHound said:

16 perks vs 4. Is this fair to you? @CornChip

Also if that's insult for you, maybe you should actually find better things to do than finding things you can be offended by...

Im done talking to you. I am actively trying to participate in a topic of conversation. You seem to be baiting for a reaction. bye

  • I think that is a very very fair punishment for dcs. I would like to see the games dcd start a little higher, like maybe starting at three dcs in ten consecutive matches.

The reason being toxic killer players could do things like afk block stairs or block survivors in a corner forcing them to dc as an extended bm.

Also there are far too many bugs in the game atm. How would it play out if you had a row of 3 man games or less mixed in with a toxic killer?

I could see some negatives with the model but i think it has potential.

  • First of all that is an insult.. I'm not saying that survivors should see everything a killer has.. I am merely trying to show that survivors do not have the option to lobby dodge.

They have to play what they face.. Killers do not.

    Unfair? Yes

Yes there are perks that negate killers powers. There are also perks that negate survivors items. Fair that one can plan accordingly and the other can't? No

Should survivors be able to see the name of the killer to avoid the ones that purposely play toxic like killers can do to survivors? I think yes.

Should survivors have an option to lobby dodge or opt out of playing a killer they don't want to verse like legion or nurse by having an option to? I don't know.. It would definately bring down the dc rate though.

Btw saying git gud and playing survivor is very easy and spewing out some numbers of game times because you are a bad killer are not valid points.

  • @HazeHound said:

@CornChip you sound so entitled there. Every survivor is the same + you can change name every second. This gives killer no advantage, unless its 4 man flashlight so he can consider using lighborn. This is supposed to be horror experience, survival should feel like achievement. This is why i don't play survivor often, its just boring and easy. Most dangerous killers are other survivors, not killers themselves. Exceptions beeing nurse mains.

Are you kidding me bloke? Starting out with an insult when i'm trying to raise what i feel are valid points which could be contributing to the dcing epidemic. Entitled is such a ######### overused insult anyway. Try something witty and original for once.

It would be fair, yes. But not good at all. It is already sad that Killers can cherrypick their Games, this should not happen with Survivors too. Because one side can do this Bullshit does not mean that both sides should do that.

    @Topic:

It is not only viable Killers. Today I had DCs of Teammates vs:

Doctor-->two DCs, probably not SWF. Both DCed when they were downed.

Wraith-->after a quite long chase the Survivor got caught in a locker, DCed. But at least he wasted some Pallets so that we dont have to take care for them...

Pig in a 3v1..>Got downed, got his Trap-->DC. The other Survivor and myself were free2go

And I had two times the Killer DC. One time right after all Gens were down and the Exit Gates were almost open. And one time when the Map was Haddonfield (no Map Offering used).

It is ridiculous, for both sides. The Haddonfield DC was the most painful. Because before that I was not able to find any Lobby. Had to wait long at one point, got into bad Ping Lobbies, got dodged 4 times in a row... and when I finally find a game, the Killer DCs. Nice.

I dont blame anyone for DCing vs Legion, I feel the same all the time when facing him. But DCing because of a mediocre Killer or because of a Map... Or just to deny the Survivors the last 5k points... Not cool.

Kind of like lobby dodging when a few survivors bring a toolbox or items they don't want to verse.. Or a couple of claudettes.. Or some P3 clothing.. Or just the name of a survivor they don't like.

Survivors don't have this option. They have to play whatever bull ######### is in front of them..

From what i can tell in your post, you say it would be fair for both sides to see what they are up against.. But just no.. Because unexplainable reasons?

Survivors can no longer see the loadout of the killer once the game ends, Cannot see what killer they are versing before the game starts..

Killer can see the names of the survivors, which survivor is which, and the items they bring in.

Not fair at all.. so no changes should be made to even it out?

  • Maybe we should start letting survivors see what killers they are versing in the lobby and let them dodge if they don't like it.. Its only fair if killers can do it too right?

  • I knew a lot of killers relied on a no skill required, carry me please hex perk.. But damn.. Why don't you try not using ruin and practice some other perk build combos?

  • I would 100% be fine with NOED if it notified when the gens were powered.. Like all the other exposed perks. I've been saying this for ages :)

  • Every Killer should run noed until survivors surviving is addressed. (Because i don't know how to apply pressure on the map and probably only chase one person for extended periods of time).

    Fite me

  • Survivors truly cannot afford a perk slot for every broken addon/perk given to the killers.

  • We all have bad matches.. Especially solo survivors lol..

Besides.. the game would get boring fast if you destroyed the other side every game imo

Bloodlust got nerfed atleast twice, noed lost its acdr, that got nerfed in that sense too. Noed didnt suddenly become stronger, survivors simply became too lazy to cleanse totems after establishing the genrush metas etc. And since unhooks gave that much instant BP, hooks get darmed greedily with a care. Altruism is at a high so survs dont simply gtfo as soon the gates are open.

The whole thread has been about loerank possibly noob survivors being stupid and unwilling to learn. Harsh truth but thats reality.

I don't believe its laziness causing survivors to not cleanse dull totems. I personally believe its because they have to genrush like crazy to have a chance to survive. They have to be super efficient when playing solo. All imo of course

  • I could only imagine how sweaty and unfun a ranked mode could be in this game. But sadly i think its needed for balance purposes.

  • I don't hate ruin.. I just hate that its in nearly every game.. That's a yawn from me.

  • I started downloading Deceit last night. I had never heard of it until you mentioned it. Im keen to give it a try tonight.. It looks pretty cool

  • Why does the gen time need to be increased? Is it so killers can kill more survivors and 4K's become even more prevalent?

  • Also i cant imagine a wooden pallet stopping a xenomorph in its tracks lol

  • As long as we got the most badass chick in movie history.. Ellen Ripley.. Then im down :)

  • A patch devoted to bugfixing and solo survivor buffs.

  • Swap dance with me with spine chill and you pretty much have my build. Spine chill is so you can dip way before the killer reaches you at your gen, lightweight means they don't know where you went.

Also i would never use urban. Im not a croucher lol

  • I feel like this post pretty much sums up the forums lol

The problem with "working on the game to make it fun for all involved" is that doing so takes time. The next big mid season update isn't due for another 4 weeks at this point, and there's no guarantee that it will fix all of the gripes people have about the game. In the meantime the game is currently dying because of this DC epidemic, and if nothing puts a stop to that, then we might as well just stop playing until the game is either finally fun for all involved, or the excessive DC's are under control.

Again, I'm not saying a ban should be imposed right away for 1 DC or even 5 per week, but I believe a warning before a softban or short "Timeout" period because you are DC'ing too much would make a difference. Ideally They'd get the warning first, and if they DC again and receive a softban (even if its just for an hour), they would get a message after its lifted stating that anymore DC's in the next 24-48 hours would escalate their softban to the next level. Doesn't that sound fair? Do you think it would work to cull the frequency of DC'ers?

BHVR is a business, and taking care of their player base is as much a part of that as selling the game. If a wave of softban warnings hit, I think it would get the message across and allow them to keep their players, while also re-igniting our faith in them.

Thats a really good point. I think a mass warning could definitely scare a few players straight without stopping them from leaving the game.

  • @NathanExplosion said:

@CornChip "Sure you could impose bans. I would think that bhvr is worried about how much of the playerbase it would lose. That's why I think they haven't ever removed the leave mathh button

Bhvr is a business.. And at the moment I would hazard a guess and say business isn't great."

Not punishing is what Devs do since release.

No need to mention the few ridiculous ban waves that happened, it should've happened more often to be effective.

That means that they catered to the majority, asking for no punishments.

    In short this :

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/402/MOS09K1XFBJV.png

See how well that worked for their buisness !

At this, i often get answered :

"But look, that worked well for them, this game has nearly 3 years !"

    Only because this :

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/745/ARU8MVIPBLYH.png

Keep throwing them money as their life depended of it.

And here we are after 3 years of listening to this kind of peoples (even if majority) with a buggy unbalanced mess of a game, that still feel beta-ish for so much reasons that i don't even know where to start.

Peoples who still don't see any problems with all of this should question themselves.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/119/A959ZCAJSK7K.png

@CornChip Very good solos are in a better position than killers. I play mostly solo. If I get a good team, the killer can't win (Nurse and maybe Billy being the exception). Solo only feels hard because you get at least one bad teammate very often.

The thing is, you can't balance a game for bad or mediocre players. Any game has to be balanced around top gameplay.

The other issue: I agree that solo should be buffed and brought closer to SWF level. But that does also mean in consequence that killers need to get big buffs.

    Agreed.. Very valid points mate

BHVR has been tweaking the core game in every patch to address balance issues that make the game frustrating and un-enjoyable. They're not perfect, but because we love the game, we are willing to forgive a few bumps along the way and despite all of the new bugs and frustrating new changes... We know their efforts ARE improving it.

You know what else is a failure as a developer? Watching your player base go down in a fire due to toxic players ruining it for everyone else, and doing nothing about it. If you could put a stop to that toxicity by warning players to knock it off or they won't be allowed to play anymore, wouldn't you?

We're not talking about players DC'ing because the game is unplayable, broken, or un-fun. We're talking about players DC'ing because they can, for whatever reason they want, and get away with it despite how ######### it is to others. I'm not saying that people shouldn't have the right to leave a game out of frustration, I'm saying that people who make a habit of doing that excessively need a slap of reality that says "Yes, this is a multiplayer game, and obviously you aren't handling that very well, so if you want to keep playing you need to grow up a bit." I get that this game can be tough, one sided, or unfair feeling at times, but that's the nature of multiplayer games, and that doesn't give anyone the right to make the experience worse for everyone else playing by throwing the matches 6 times out of 10.

At some point a line must be drawn, or you risk losing your all of your players because they can't have any fun. Not because the game is bad, but because the other players are whiny, entitled brats screwing it up for the community. You've Seen hundreds of posts on these forums about this problem, and how frustrating it is when someone DC's in their games, have you even considered them? How many people, right now, do you think are ready drop this game soon if this is allowed to keep going? Do you think they with miss the game later and come back after that experience if the devs haven't taken any action? I don't think so either.

I get that you feel that way.. And I read your whole post.

I think it is far easier to work on the game and make it more fun for all involved than it is to fix thousands of people's behaviour.

Sure you could impose bans. I would think that bhvr is worried about how much of the playerbase it would lose. That's why I think they haven't ever removed the leave mathh button

Bhvr is a business.. And at the moment I would hazard a guess and say business isn't great.

    All imo

@CornChip The game isn't at all balanced around top SWF gameplay. The only killer who can stand a chance against top SWF groups is Nurse. This isn't balance.

I don't really ever swf but I know it's sure isn't balanced around most solo gameplay. The gap between solo and swf is far too great nowadays. Something needs to be done imo

  • Imo: The game needs 2 queues, ranked and casual.. Ranked for solos only.. Balance the game around solo survivors 50% escape rate or close to.

At the moment the game is balanced around top swf gameplay.. Solos are being heavily punished for it.. Game is becoming too frustrating, stale and boring for alot of solo players.. Again all imo

  • @TWiXT said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/391834#Comment_391834

It does, and has been proven to do so in many other multiplayer games because people WANT to keep playing the games. Any threat that they may lose the privilege to do so because of their poor sportsmanship incentivizes them to cease their bad behavior.

There are some extreme cases of people using alt accounts, or repurchasing the game to bypass their bans (*cough* Ochido *cough*), but as long as they keep up their toxic behavior, eventually it catches up with them, and they end up wasting their time and money. Most people won't go to those extremes to keep playing just as most won't let their punishment escalate to the point where they receive a perma ban.

There's no comparison between this and "Actual Crimes" because people who commit crimes can still be a part of society (unless they get the death penalty). In games however, earning a ban means you can no longer be a part of the game or community you enjoy, and you only have yourself to blame.

Decreasing the leniency on DC's won't stop people from DC'ing at first, but after they get their first warning, we will see a dramatic drop in the frequency of it, and that will improve the enjoyment of the game for everyone.

I agree with you that a dc penalty works in most other games.. However most other games aren't plagued with an obnoxious amount of bugs.. Every.. Single.. Patch lol

  • Knowing bhvr its probably going to be tuesday in about 3 months time

Playing solo can be a nightmare. It feels like I'm the only one actually doing something.

Yes, I know that i'm not the best player in the world, but for the love of god, can you stop crouching everywhere, ignoring gens or other objectives? Can you please keep a simple chase up for atleast 40 seconds? It's not THAT hard. Can you stop dropping pallets when the killer is 10 meters away from you?

Everytime I go solo, I feel like I am a magnet for immersed Claudettes.

I agree and it's very frustrating.. Sadly this game is horrible for new players.. New survivors get crushed by new killers, hence the very low survivor rate.. I think alot of the veterans have left the game too :(

  • Love alot of your suggestions..

I am 100% up for a meta shake up.. The game has needed it for quite a while.. Something needs to be done to keep the game fresh..

Sadly the devs have chosen to buff alot of the most used perks which only reinforced the meta.. All imo
