  • Wouldn't the actors want to do the game, too? Seeing as both are popular and all...

Yeah... and now you wouldn't use that perk if someone paid you. So no, technically not P2W. Besides I'm not that great and escape occasionally, so you can win without perks.

  • Hybrid Panda did a few vids pairing Mad Grit (that's the stabbing perk when carrying a survivor, right?) with Agitation, which increases your move speed while carrying. You zip around slashing people, it's kind of funny. Pair it with Iron Grip to hold them longer and you become more powerful when holding a body hehehe.

Who said anything about adding Voice Comms?

It's been suggested on the forums lately. I agree with leaving them out of this game. You don't need them. It's supposed to be a scary, thrilling situation where you are desperately trying to escape an unstoppable killer, and silence helps with that.

  • It only seems like too many when a) you have to grind a hundred new perks to get the one you want and b) most of them aren't ones you'll ever use due to having better options elsewhere.

There are a bunch of really good perks, and then a whole mess of mediocre/situational ones you might not use. And when you try different builds for variety, you realize you no longer have Lithe or We'll Make It or whatever you took off, expecting it to work from practice.

I do like having lots of options, and lots of new perks to play around with for different situations, but at the same time it takes forever to get what you want after you prestige/new char release. So yes and no, I guess.

  • As a Survivor, Ruin sucks, but I'd much rather deal with Ruin than Sloppy Butcher, slowing down all the healing to a snail's pace. Throw in Thana and Clownphobia and it's a damn nightmare.

If you're having trouble keeping Ruin up, run some of those other perks instead. You'll slow the game down every time you hit someone, and with paired healing that's two players off gens.

As far as Hexes go, I like them. They give totems a purpose and it's fun to run around Cleansing rather than work on gens (or rescue teammates; am I right guys? heh kidding!)

  • If the Killer quits on PS4, the survivor gets nothing. It will show you what points you earned at the end-game screen, but when you exit out you still have your old balance, with nothing new added and your Offering is now consumed. You only keep the offering if someone leaves during loading and the match ends right as it begins.

  • Battle Pass? What Battle Pass?

  • More on consoles? That's not fair =(

But you should wait until it comes out, because the characters will have cosmetics too, so you might want one of those in addition.

  • There are so, soo many characters from games, movies, and TV I would love! But I'm sure that's the same for any of us. We already got Ash, which I'm thrilled about, so...

  • I like GF, though I'm still learning. Definitely you don't want to run around the open, you'll get spotted (even if the survivor doesn't know they're looking at you, they'll trigger your stealth). That's why you have to utilize Crouch and Peek. Try to get as close as possible from around walls and objects so they don't see you when your Terror Radius is quiet so you can get a sneaky hit in or even a grab.

  • You hit a survivor?! You're lucky they didn't report you! ~_^

  • I hope we can! When I saw there were new Pig/Saw cosmetics, I was thrilled! My favorite of the Licensed killers so far.

That would be interesting. And scary! Remember the PTB can always change for live!

I mean, I hit them pretty consistently. With a bit of practice they become pretty easy even on Console. I just don't understand why people at my rank have so much trouble hitting them.

It's easy enough to get to red ranks, that's why. I can't last in chases very well but as long as I keep playing I hit R1. I'm getting better at Hex checks, in my defense. I can hit them more consistently now, which is great since I usually stay on gens anyway.

  • Everyone's excited for Scoops Steve but here I am wondering what Nancy's gonna get...

  • Yeah, try to go someplace she might not expect you to, but it's always a gamble. Iron Will helps. She knows where you are either by sound, grass moving (I think?) and if she physically bumps into you, which is how she grabs off gens. If you hear the vacuum, get off so at least you'll take a hit and not get grabbed.

  • I read: "Steve is really bad, and Nancy is really good."

    And I agree.

  • The problem is that getting booted out of a game really soon isn't fun, especially when people are pulling you off the hook right in front of the killer. Yeah you can just go to another game, but the point is your teammates are supposed to help, not hinder, you.

It's your job to kill them, and it's not against the rules, but each player is a person who likes kitties and helps their community, working towards a better future for everyone. You don't want to hurt someone like that, do you? =^.^=

  • I know this is a little old but I'd also like to know. I love Technician and before I took a break a few months ago, video testing showed that killers hear the generator louder at a distance, so I was hoping that by now it would have been fixed. I use it in sneaky builds, not necessarily for the chance of silence (though that's a great bonus, of course).

  • In regards to the locker ideas mentioned, it's still incredibly thrilling to think of the lockers as something to fear, rather than (relative) safety. Imagine opening the doors to hide from the killer only to be greeted by tentacles or glaring eyes filling the darkness. What if the killer could put fake lockers down that trapped you?

I don't know exactly why GF was associated with lockers, maybe since he's an indoor killer? It's not like he always popped out of a closet. Although if you look up an old Troma vid Monster in the Closet, there's an idea for a new killer.

  • Nancy has become a cultural icon. Smash hit DBD and the incredibly popular Stranger Things will put her as the face of this generation.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/83280/ps4-ruin-vs-pc-ruin

You basically lose the game on PS4 If Ruin is up for more than 5 minutes. Ruin skill checks seem to be extremely hard for console users to hit for some reason lol

Framerate. You have to time the hit before it reaches the mark or you won't get it. Consoles still seize when changes occur, such as when the EGC begins, you become Exposed, or you take a hit while running. Watching PC vids and playing on console there is a slight gap in making that vault or getting hit on the other side.

  • She can put traps on everyone and then zero generators are being done. People prioritize getting the trap off above all else.

  • Yeah it's variable. I leave them on second hook because some are really trying (or new). A lot appreciate it. Some send you hate mail because you're "a lousy killer." Clearly I could have won, but chose to grant you a bonus. Why send hate? If it irritates them it should be their teammates who don't rush over right away for the revive.

There's also a struggle at the hatch (in the old days) when you were just trying to show them where it is. They won't follow, and when you try to carry them over they keep wriggling free. But that's another problem.

  • Going back to Wiggle, it's pointless. There is virtually no scenario in which you could free yourself, outside of Flip-Flop. There simply is not time to wiggle out. To test this, I got into the furthest corner of the exit gate, while a teammate was hooked nearby (on the closest hook). This means I had to be carried farther than the nearest hook, and still was unable to wriggle free, without Iron Grasp or Agitation. Please at least make it so I'm not ruining the controller trying to do this.

  • I think Surge only regresses the gen, not counts as a physical kick which would trigger Overcharge. I don't think all the gens affected would get a skillcheck. We won't know until PTB, though.

  • I thought we'd get taken into the Upside Down kind of like how Freddy takes us to the Nightmare. And even though we have two killers who can warp around, it still would have been neat to fight a monster that can show up almost anywhere, startling the pants off you whenever it shows up suddenly behind you.

The survivor in me likes that you can pull apart the warp pads, though. That looks fun.

  • I wholeheartedly agree. Also something else for wiggle, it was neat at first since it feels like you're actually wiggling (using a control stick) but by now it's just wearing out a $60 piece of equipment I cannot afford to replace.

  • He says one line when he enters the lobby. Ash is a great character played by a great actor and you leave Bruce alone! >:{

  • It was for people who don't use or like the leaning mechanic. I think it works great from a survivor's point of view.

  • Leaning Ghost Face is one of the most iconic images now, along with seeing a Meyers peeking at you while you were unaware. To glance over and see a ghost peering around a corner is frightening, because you get that Exposed blast a moment later and have to run like a headless chicken.

  • I assumed they'd share the same three. If not, then I imagine the overall quality of the perks will be mediocre (no offense). Not all the perks are amazing, and if three powerful perks came out for any side people would complain.

Ash (while amazing) wasn't a Chapter, was he? I thought he was just a licensed bonus. I'm pretty miffed that GF and now ST content are our chapters. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled about this new demon killer and the double-up on survivors, but they're still licensed content. My favorites are still the creative studio creations, not based or restricted by movies and media. Sure an Alien would be fun, but what would we get with total control over powers and abilities?

You got the wrong theme park my friend xD You went to Universal Studios, MGM has Indiana Jones, Aliens, Twilight Zone, Rock n Roller etc.

Oh haha yeah that's where we went! Down in Florida. They have a movie shop with props from films you can buy. In the Terminator scene when Reese enters the department store to find clothes, there's a silver bust of a man focused for a few seconds. That bust was on sale for $4,000 as well as some other things from film.

  • I cleanse religiously now, and I see more people doing the same, which is good. It also helps with TotH protecting some other Hex, as each successive Cleanse gets faster. Your teammate will have an easier time getting that hex with less dull totems in the map.

  • I've tried This Is Not Happening, and it seems harder to hit the Greats for some reason. The game and the graphic are not matched. I have an easier time hitting the small ones. I dropped it in favor of the 9% speed boost, which I took up when Plague released. You're going down in one hit anyway, so it made sense. I can't avoid her vomit for the life of me, it goes over every obstacle and she can just shake to spray a wide area and you get hit around a tree.

  • What?! They didn't have any of that when I went to MGM Studios! They didn't even have the Terminator scene back then T_T

All we got was E.T., King Kong, Jaws (which ruined everyone's cameras), and Back to the Future, which was a movie not a ride.

  • Even though there are issues, every game should have DC penalties. It's poor behavior that would have gotten you laughed out of the circuit in the old days. Gamers were about challenge and ingenuity, not quitting when facing an obstacle they didn't like. What happened to everyone's pride?

While I do agree that on the whole games should be fun, strong add-ons should be few and far between, a once-in-a-while hurdle that throws a wrench into the survivor's game, but when 9/10 spirits run Beads or people wait only for powerful items to run a killer it becomes a real nuisance.

On the other hand, some of the most fun I've ever had in this game involves Myers with certain addons on certain maps, so there's still some room for thrill here. Remember that the killer is supposed to be stronger than the survivors. That's why they're defenseless, but have perks to help them stealth, escape, stun, etc.

Games like this are incredibly difficult to balance. Do you set it for the majority of players, leaving the top tiers griping about issues that high skill can involve? Or for the best players, leaving the vast (or at least large) portion of players griping because they're not skilled enough to perform well? It's a real nightmare and I think more people should consider all aspects rather than what bracket they specifically fall into. We occasionally get new players as well, which is great for the longevity of the game.

  • That sounds weird, doesn't it? Why does Disney own Predator? I mean, I get it from a business perspective but imagine hugging a friendly Predator at Disney World.

They used to be a children/family company, but now they're just as money hungry as every other predatory business. It's sad.

  • That does sound pretty powerful. The checks are important so you don't give yourself away. Automatic stealth gens would be a bit strong. I do think it should be tweaked or at least fixed; last I heard it actually made them louder and not silent.

Although, I would love a silent gen perk, where the killer had to be kicking it to hear any sound at all.

  • I'll trade for Freddy, sure. This demon looks a thousand times cooler and isn't the size of a child.

  • I'm not remotely that good in chases, so not every survivor is like that. And when I play killer I have to go easy on the newbies because I doubt these people have a dozen games between them sometimes. From my perspective, killers can be quite powerful and perks don't always save survivors.

  • I consider the other side's fun no matter which I'm on. I know both sides. I know all the dirty tricks anyone can do, and a lot of them are really scummy (teammates blocking you into a corner, for instance). I give everyone a fair chance even on survivor. If I can tell the killer tried, but didn't catch anyone, I'll die to the endgame. We all deserve points, because we all know how the grind can be.

The point is each side is responsible for holding up the game properly. The killers have to chase, and the survivors have to survive. It isn't fun if the survivor just stands there pointing at a hook, is it? You want to catch them in a chase. To outsmart them, or outmaneuver them. The same with the survivor. If the killer stands there spinning in place, what's the fun? What's the point? You won't even get much BP at the end. People are encouraged to play to their objectives so everyone has an exciting experience.

Abusing other people is not fun. We've been saying this forever, if you drive away too many people by bad behavior the game will fail. I don't want that, and I'm pretty sure a lot of you don't want it either. I know there are rough patches were you have a few bad games and get angry/vengeful on whatever irked you, but treating each other with sportsmanship is the way to play this and any game. Next round, that guy might just be on your team.

You forget that this is an online game, you likely don’t know the people you’re facing. Of course you’re less likely to ‘cheat’ when playing up against your friends but when you don’t know anything about the people you’re facing, you won’t care.

That's true; based on their behavior they might be a complete jerk. They might be a stranger. But you have to remember that not only is another person playing against you, but a fellow gamer. It doesn't matter what side you're on, we're all in this together. We have to be better to each other.

You forget that there are two sides to this story, the killer might not find being looped fun. It isn’t either sides job to care about each other’s fun.

Yes it is, but only in the pursuit of fairness. When you play Hide 'N Seek with your friends, you play by the rules so everyone has a good time, even if your buddy is much better than you. You wouldn't want to be cheated against (loosely defined, I know).

It's the same in a game like this, to a small extent. When you understand how the other side plays and have experienced the same behavior, there are things you won't do because you hate when they do it.

As for looping, that's a mixed issue. I don't believe the game was designed for it, and they might have said so a long long time ago, but it is an effective method that seems to be within the confines of the rules and, again, what are they supposed to do? Running in a straight line is asking for a blade to the back. The Killer moves faster than the Survivors. I think it falls under the topic of things that cannot be enforced, therefore the counter is to mind-game them, build Bloodlust, break the pallet, or simply find a new target.

  • I'd rather see environmental hazards or traps that the killer can trigger. Some room where they can pull a lever and spikes come out, or the ceiling falls, or the floor electrocutes; something of that nature. Only the killer would be able to trigger it but it would make some of the areas more dangerous for escapes. Maybe that's not a great idea for a game like this but I always liked these little spots in online shooters, so it could be a neat addition.

How about something like the stage hazards in ME Online modes? The map is really cloudy, or stormy, reducing visibility, or there's a swarm of Entity bugs flying around and can make the survivors yell or move slower, or something. Maybe there are plant-like snares akin to the end-game thorns that can grab someone running by for a moment (not the killer, probably). I don't know if anyone else likes this stuff but I think it's a neat occasional hazard to be wary of. The nightmare realm is a dangerous, shifting place, after all.
