We're really not speaking the same language here. Once again, I'm telling you, they're "fixing" stuff affecting survivors even BEFORE it actually happens, while stuff affecting killers takes AGES to get "fixed".

I'll just talk about piggy's changes, since the rest of the conversation is going nowhere, nor it will.

You're saying they foresaw a "problem" with EGC and Piggy's RBTs mechanism, so they changed how they work BEFORE they implemented the main change, to prevent "n" number of survivors dying from the traps during EGC. They completely rendered her powerless in the process.

Don't you think they already completely and absolutely knew what kind of "problem" would MoM bring to the game? Do you actually think there was no one telling them? They chose to release it that way, because they knew testing it would only bring them flak.

LF got released without a PTB, fine. Another low tier killer with a perk DESIGNED to encourage and reward people to leave hooks. You know, since camping is a problem mainly affecting survivors and their fun.

I don't intend to keep discussing this issue, if you answer I'll make sure to read your text but I won't reply any further. Have a nice weekend.

    @Condorloco_26

Each of those instances had a PTB, the pig's change was announced BEFORE the ptb, Plague was tested on the chapter PTB and that is why the change was made, you know thats the whole purpose of having one, the basement any fool can see it could give easy kills and its one of those easy number change fixes as the basement has been in the game since release so they know exacllty how it works and the potential for free kills.

ASH did not have a PTB and was put straight out for sale which means as full product the stats are a lot more widely spread and take longer to gather, its not rocket science.

Players had to purchase them, play the char get the perk and teachable and spread it out, while most players who want to jump into the ptb have lots of BP saved up to get what they need instantly as its announced way before its released, lets not forget the whole pupose of a PTB is there to directly gather stats and feedback so changes can be made, the live game is a completely different scenario.

If you have a scenrio where you test 10000 players compared to 1 million the results will be a lot different, its not rocket science.

Take of the killer tin foil hat and use some common sense instead.

    @twistedmonkey

Your answer just reinforces my points, meaning they're acting quickly when an issue affects or hyphotetically will affect survivors, with little or no evidence to back it up.

Piggy's nerf: ZERO data needed, no one asked for it, destroys her endgame strenght.

Plague's nerf: PTB data, no one asked for it. How many Plagues have you played against?

Freddy's burial: Roughly one week worth of data. Freddy is the punchline.

Basement nerf: ZERO data. Hypothetically possible to trap people there. This one I'll give it to you, although several other scenarios got indirectly affected too.

Legion change: 3 months of data. Or should I say, of DC's. Legion was a mistake from the beginning, let's be honest.

DS change: Two years of data.

Exhaustion change: Year and a half of data.

Ash comes packed with an obviously OP perk in a money-only DLC, without a PTB. Talk about common sense.

Obviously they knew the huge backlash they would've drawn if they made a PTB, that's why they didn't make one.

Perk usage does not equal power

Just because you are not getting your will does not mean devs are ignoring you. It just means they do not share your opinion and thus there is no need to act

Mettle Of Man is still a horrible perk, just use Dead Hard instead

I disagree. The first Dead hard of the match will extend the chase for 5 seconds maybe. Ten seconds tops if they managed to reach a pallet or a window with it.

The rest of the match DH can be baited and it'll just give you 1 - 2 extra seconds at the most.

Besides, having DH means no room for BL, SB, Lithe or any other exhaustion perk. Unless a survivor doesn't know how exhaustion works, they won't pack 2 of those any time.

MoM lets you keep your precious exhaustion perk without affecting it.

  • Survivors waiting long times for a lobby, and when they finally get in one, get matched with killers ranked all across the board.

Killers get instant lobbies, with survivors right around their ranking.

We don't need to be scientists to draw conclusions on this.

  • Interesting. But what do you mean with a failed mori? the survivor gets up and has an extra chance?

I'd be in for QTEs for struggling on the hook and wiggling on the shoulder of the killer, though. It'd make smashing keyboards and controllers a thing of the past.

  • @tt_ivi_99 said:

The reward is to see Billy and Nurse all the time :)

@tt_ivi_99 Hey, hey, hey. You have to partially credit MoM for that too.

"And the worst thing is, the killer getting punished for HITTING the guys."

Damn, this tilted the scales for me.

I've been 50/50 on this subject and damn, you made a good point.

    @CallMeSpidey

Yeah in the initial MoM discussions I was trying to make analogies, and I thought it would be similar to getting 30 or 40 seconds of your gen progress wiped if you hit a fourth skill check. What am I supposed to do then? NOT hit skill checks?

Same with MoM, what am I supposed to do? NOT hit people?

  • @ClogWench said:

The fact that it's taken a while leads me to believe they realize it's not nearly as powerful as bad killers give it credit

The fact is, MoM came with a money-only DLC. Draw your own conclusions.

  • @MegsAreEvil said:

Just stop complaining about something that isnt an issue to be fixed. MoM is nowhere to be gamebreaking it has at worst the effect of 4 more hits within the game. that not an issue as you would see that there are still more than enough killer who can handle this without any complains.

By reading your response, I can infer you've obviously never played a single match as killer in the red ranks.

And makes me doubt about your survivor skills, too.

In the red ranks a single non-hit, weapon wipe, LOS and sprint burst can extend a chase for 40 - 60 seconds. Half a gen. 3 other guys working on gens at the time means 1.5 gens get done with a single MoM hit. Now consider at least 2 guys have the stupid perk. There you go, game over. And the worst thing is, the killer getting punished for HITTING the guys. Not even punished for whiffing.

  • @twistedmonkey

Yeah sure, like with the addition of EGC they waited for all those stats and numbers to show % on how many survivors' heads exploded with Piggy's RBTs before even considering touching her power.

They also waited for stats to show the insanely high number of people getting trapped in the basement during EGC before touching collision (only on the stairs, of course).

They spent months gathering info on Plague too, before even considering touching her movement speed while charging her power.

And the most notorious case of them all, they waited a long, long time before touching Freddy after release too.

It's not as simple as changing numbers around when the issue affects killers, obviously.

  • They knew it from the beginning, and everybody told them even before it was released.

They won't touch it unless queues get to the point of being so ridiculously long that even survivors consider leaving the game.

For me now, it's only a couple of weekly matches with Huntress, Billy and Bubba. And that's it.

After being my favorite and most played game for quite a long time.

insane? do u know how to run shack? plus it's mindgamable, it's not as safe as u think

Of course I know how to run the thing in both roles, that's exactly why I'm saying it's the safest place in the map, meaning the place that will waste killer's time the most (except for maybe Crotus central building).

At least there was a "reward" for enduring and winning that chase, hooking the survivor down there meant dangerous unhooks.

Now it's just a normal unhook, as safe/unsafe as any other.

Then surely... There's nothing to lose if the movies have disappointed recently.

Anything new and different is a great idea. Predator and Alien fit that gap. They got the rights to a terminator killer in deathgarden. Why not get it here?

Maybe they should focus on getting pure Terrestrial horror characters first. Pinhead, Pumpkinhead, Human-form Chucky, Candyman, The Nun, Samara, Carrie, maybe even fixing Freddy, you know...

  • @Warlock_2020

Sorry for the long, non-requested answer.

I get what you're trying to say. You're probably also an adult playing games for fun just like me.

These kids grew up watching only crap content, either on TV, social media, Youtube, whatever. Their role models in those channels are mostly no-lifer entitled jerks that somehow manage to gather a zombie following around. A gullible one.

People playing too much videogames tend to not participate in sports, that teach 'sportsmanship' in people's lives. And sports are also lacking in good role models nowadays anyway.

This is "their" world now. So long for good manners, good sportsmanship, respecting opponents, etc.

I took a long break from videogames after the PS2 peaked and just came back a couple years ago. I found online multiplayer challenging and fun, but also almost full of people with the absolute worst traits, personalities, manners, and such.

The best advise I'd give is, take whatever you want out of the game (in my case, the horror element), but don't engage in trying to find ANY redeeming qualities in this community. People worth befriending are very few, and far in between. And some of them I found via this forum.

Texts from DbD sore losers flooded my inbox all the time, which I had to set to friends-only, and I also had to block all friend requests since they also can text you in those.

What I'm trying to say is, this is the nature of the beast. An M rated horror game about murder played mostly by people not old enough to hold a driving license, and promoted by man-children in their 20's and 30's. I play it, but I don't expect to get anything out of it, other than occasional scares and some horror-related simulated violence.

  • No. Please.

    No Alien, no Predator.

The guys making the awful movies in the last years have already done a great job making those creatures and their lore a complete mockery of what they were in the beginning.

Please don't make them part of this cartoony chase circus.

  • @White_Owl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/462837#Comment_462837

    It was a rethoric question.

One was a toxic and unintended mechanic, the other is how the game works.

    @White_Owl

If you remember, looping was an unintended new mechanic that came along with survivors' hitboxes becoming smaller, a long time ago.

The original vision of the game had survivors hiding, running away and juking, using pallets and windows in order to break LOS.

The way the game "works" now is completely an unintended result of that 'smaller hitbox' change.

Why is it fair for the killer to have a larger hitbox and get mindlessly and almost endlessly looped, but when that larger hitbox represents an inconvenience to survivors it gets a quick one-sided fix?

Now, about bodyblocking: while it's silly to have a Feng Min block a Trapper or Clown carrying someone, I'm all in for survivors using that resource in order to try to save a teammate, or at least make hooking more difficult to accomplish.

The question is why on Earth is it fair to bodyblock as a survivor and not as a killer? I'm not talking about holding a game hostage (a problem allegedly fixed with EGC's introduction), but waiting out cooldown/recharge/BT timers?

  • @Weederick said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/462594#Comment_462594

    1. Bodyblocking for a chainsaw
    2. Bodyblocking the next survivor after hitting one
    3. Bodyblocking to counter BT
    4. Bodyblocking to throw hatchets for shorter cooldown
    5. Bodyblocking to reload clowns bottles
    6. Bodyblocking to recover cooldown for Spirit (and Legion)
    7. Bodyblocking to vomit on survivors
    8. Bodyblocking to trap the stairs
    9. Bodyblocking to counter endgame DS

Idk about you but i benefitted a lot from blocking the basement to my advantage. I never held the game hostage before and i have no intention ever to. This game is getting dumbed down, tech like this should be preserved not removed.

@Weederick Exactly. All those scenarios mean a killer is playing his cards in an optimal way, and punishing greedy survivors in the "most dangerous" place of the map.

Now all those killers get nerfed because it would be possible to trap people there until they die.

Sounds to me like they didnt' design EGC correctly in the first place, then.

Kinda like the Legion - Borrowed Time connection. BT was fine. Legion comes with all his bullshit and BT gets buffed. Now stupid new Legion is even deeper in the trash can, where he belonged right from the drawing board, but we all have a stronger BT that won't get reverted.

It's the same story with EGC - Piggy - Basement. Those two were fine. Here comes EGC with its new mechanics and nerfs killers just because.

Anyway, what really annoys me at this point is that a hypothetical scenario affecting survivors gets defused even BEFORE it actually happens in regular gameplay, while at adressing stuff like MoM and such, we need to gather more and more and more information of course.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/462190#Comment_462190

I kind of wonder about the collision hitboxes only being affected on the stairs. Has anyone noticed more hits not registering than usual?

    @fcc2014 I don't know man, I missed the Q&A scheduled for today.

  • @Karl_Childers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/462190#Comment_462190

Not the same thing at all. Yeah, it really makes a lot of sense that at any point in the game after getting a basement hook, a trash killer could wait in the distance for a rescuer to come and then go back to block the stairs for a guaranteed 2K. Anyone who thinks that should be an option for the killer and a valid strategy is nuts and very entitled. Sorry if you were hoping you could exploit EGC for cheap kills.

@Karl_Childers Sorry to ruin your narrative but I'm not talking about that scenario in endgame collapse.

I'm talking about punishing stupid, unsafe, in-your-face unhooks that are backed up with borrowed time.

Blocking the stairwell for 20 seconds should teach unhookers to play smart. They always deserve going down in my book.

  • Just wait for hatchets and chainsaws also counting towards MoM build up

    :)

  • Remove the basement now, along with the killer shack. There's no point of having those hooks there in the safest place of the whole map, with that insane window/pallet combo.

  • LOL

Reworked collision in the basement stairs so killers can't block it to secure a kill.

But didn't touch collision in the rest of the game so killers can continue getting looped to oblivion, and blocked while carrying survivors.

  • Dude, how many people you need to block the map from the current rotation? If they don't fix it at least they should not force people to play it.

  • It's been mentioned a hundred times now and still they won't fix it. How many people do you need to crank up aura brightness at least??

  • Colorblind support.

    Performance on consoles.

Fixes for bugs that have been around for a long time.

All those before any kind of season pass.

  • They talk/act trash in a videogame because they're real life losers, with no feasible options to get out of their misery, ever.

  • At this point, throwing Ormond offerings as a survivor should be considered an exploit.

The map is completely broken for killers.

    Especially colorblind killers.

  • @Dolphin9192 said:

The sad thing is that Dark Devotion is a new perk, that the devs thought would be good or fun.

    This! +1

  • @BoxingRouge said:

They will never change swf, no one will play with the options listed above. Killers will just see a burning campfire.

Why not? Is it that hard to quit the cheese?

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

@Condorloco_26 you can use the steam menu to get their names even if they are perfectly hidden in the game itself.

    @NuclearBurrito

Ok thanks, I didn't know that since I play on console.

Although thinking about it, console also gives that option.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

I mean you're being a little disingenuous. Knowing the approximate location of the killer or another survivor is not the same as seeing their aura.

I'm not sure what your point is. A team that communicates well will do well? So what's the solution? Buff killers until everyone is forced to play SWF because solo survivor is suicide? Remove SWF because sometimes killers lose, making it so friends can't play together and thus losing a massive chunk of the player base?

    Option 1.

Separate mode for swf with stronger killers, i.e. 6 perk slots.

    Extra bps for everyone

    Option 2.

Hide survivor names in lobby so there's no chance of joining party chat with randos.

Then, nerf perk slots for people joining the lobby in a swf team.

2 man team: 3 perk slots

3 man team: 2 perk slots

4 man team: 1 perk slot.

    Extra bps for all survivors.

    Now we're talking balance.

  • @fluffybunny Yeah I'd also like to try a more horror-oriented hide and seek playstyle, but we both know they're not doing it with current map design and speed at which objectives get done.

  • @MegMain98

Precisely. Huntress and Billy are my main killers. PS4 by the way, so no nurse for me.

With Huntress I try to land the first hatchet from long range and then just finish them off at melee without engaging. With Billy I try for an "Interceptor" playstyle, BBQ, Bitter murmur, M&A, and try to surprise people away from looping spots/between gens. If I'm not able to down them, I just leave them injured and go look for another guy. I'll play Myers with insanely small terror radius too, trying to surprise people instead of chasing them for too long. LF can end chases real quick also, but your presence won't be felt map-wide.

There are a lot of maps where I don't even enter the main building in the whole match: Crotus, fractured cowshed, rancid abbatoir, grim pantry, temple of purgation, are the worst ones. I just concede the gen inside and save me the hassle of breaking 6 - 8 pallets there (Crotus) just to land a couple of hits. Whenever a survivor runs to those places, I know they're wasting time because there's no objective for them either, after the gen is done. Haddonfield is the worst map overall, I just go for the 3 gen strat right from the beginning.

I used to play a lot of Wraith, Piggy and Trapper, with 100% chase builds. But the increasing number of pallets lately and second chance perks just sucked the fun out of it.

  • @NuclearBurrito

Yeah I know. Should've kept my mouth shut LOL

I don't even see scratchmarks (thanks devs for adding colorblind mode), so I'd go for the change too. Perhaps that way DbD would be a genuine horror game.

And Temple of Purgation is not too far from the 40 pallet mark right now...

  • Although people playing on Xbox are not kept completely in the dark about some of those numbers...

  • If Rockstar lets me know how many hot dogs have I eaten in their games, why is it that BHVR won't let me know how many guys I've handed to the Entity for sacrifice??

They're obviously hiding all that info for "balance" reasons.

  • @DingDongs said:

But isn't they give DS shrine even Laurie is also DLC money only?

I forgot when but i already have DS with buying shrine

After a long, long time, yes. Besides, that DLC also included Michael, so the perk was not the only selling point. Those not interested on DS, would buy the DLC for Myers instead.

Ash is different. Who would buy him, outside of the fanbase of the Evil Dead series? There is no killer in this DLC. Non-fans are buying Ash just to unlock MoM.

  • @GT_Legend2 Yeah I know. Luckily I own and play other fun games too. I have also other hobbies and activities - besides work, you know.

I just log into the forums every now and then to see how things are going, play a couple of weekly matches and that's it.

  • @fluffybunny

That would effectively tear down one (and arguably the strongest) of survivors' defenses against killers. The other 2 being stealth and loss of line of sight.

Unless you're also planning on placing 40 pallets on each map, removing scratchmarks and reworking all the aura reading perks, you're leaving survivors with no tools to, well, survive.

Even if I almost exclusively play killer, completely dislike the Tom & Jerry meta (I don't engage in chases longer than 10 seconds), and would welcome a whole different playstyle, I sadly believe 80 or 90% of the game revolves around looping. You would need to go back to the drawing board and release a whole different videogame.

  • LOL

Just respawn these guys 30 secs later in a random location within the map.

  • And all of a sudden, Bond, Empathy, Aftercare and Kindred, were built-in perks of survivors. Only 3 out of 16 perk slots could be devoted to Alert, Dark Sense and Object of Obsession and their effects could be multiplied x4. Survs could now designate 1st team and backup runners, unhookers, healers, gen jockeys.

Knockout, Franklin's Demise, Insidious and Hex: Third Seal had now zero effect; besides, Killers' element of surprise existed no longer.

But yeah, I like challenging myself.

That's why I team up with my 3 friends to just have some fun.

  • Why would the basement even exist, in that case?

It's designed that way so it's a dangerous, risky and scary place.

Besides, smaller killer hitboxes would mean the END of looping. That would mean a swift END for DbD. Just look what happened when survivors couldn't loop a weak ass killer (a.k.a. Pre-PTB Legion).

At least Nurse takes a lot of skill, but now you'd be talking about not being able to loop Billy, Leatherface, Trapper, Clown, Doc.

I'm only slightly colorblind and i struggle sometimes i can't imagine playing it with a more severe case.

I saw a post by a guy who legit didn't know the game had scratchmarks due to being colorblind. Jesus Murphy.

I only see scratchmarks in The Game and Lery's. Rest of the maps have no scratchmarks for me.

  • Now try being colorblind on top of it.

It's impossible to play, plain and simple.

  • Why would they, if ever? Ash DLC is money-only, for a reason.

  • I strongly disagree about Leatherface. He's a very dangerous guy with certain builds. And once you master turning while chainsawing, you can apply lots of pressure.

He's only weak vs 4man swf, but the same could be said about all killers except 2 of them, 3 in PC.

  • Welcome to colorblind life

That's the way we've always played the game, without scratchmarks

And still they won't do anything about it

  • "Tag'em and lose'em"

  • @PiiFree

I don't know man, I already barely play a couple of matches in a week. I'm getting really tired of DbD.

All the audio bugs that hurt killers

The fact that I'm colorblind and I struggle in many maps just to find the damn gens and hooks - and they won't just add a simple setting option where I can change the aura color -

    All the balance issues

And the absolute worst kind of people in the gaming community texting after matches end

Sooner or later it'll be time to move on

  • Chainsaws and hatchets inflict deep wounds now

Trapper's traps are now glowing neon yellow for everyone, except him

Doctor: Madness tier III buffs survivor repair speed by 50%

Spirit: Added an audio cue that will prevent her from fooling survivors when passive phasing.

    ...Oh wait!
