@Clevite you can only potentially have 8 hook saves per match. and the survivors can counterplay the perk by getting off gens and coordinating quick saves with borrowed. getting the full five stacks will be hard once Survivors get used to counterplay and even if you do get the full 40% it'll be late-game and probably only effect the last 1-2 gens.

The point is that it discourages Survivors from holding M1 and gives the Killer no incentive to camp. It also encourages sabotages and breakout, which is a playstyle that's not currently used almost at all

Fair enough. Appreciate your thoughts and the discussion!

Also really puts this post of his in perspective when he openly declared in another post to derive pleasure from ruining others' day by going through those "legitimate strats" (which technically they are). It seems to me this user just wants to get his kicks out of boredom through acting a certain way known to ruin at least one player's experience and then complain when they point it out that it's borderline bad manners.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/145063/campers For reference.

I just read that. You lose all creditably with me when you just purposely attempt to ruin someone else's fun. Good find.

    Next post please!

  • Going to encourage hook rushing.

And 40% max is going to be extreme in my opinion.

  • As a survivor, I tend to get mad at myself, usually because I made a mistake leading to me getting caught.

As killer, I feel much more competent, I have a lot more time playing killer. So I don't get mad as much, but do find it the more frustrating role to play. And since I have been playing survivor more, I don't take it personally when I get outplayed and some get out.

I may get a bit frustrated with some tactics, but then I take a breath and respect their right to play how they want, and send a gg and move on.

  • Well many killers camp until the team blocks and rescues the survivor, only to see the killer ignore everyone else, then straight tunnel the guy off the hook only to camp him again.

Play how you want, but this style won't gain you a lot of respect for skillful play.

Either way you get a gg from me, and I que up for another game.

  • I never camp. I find it boring and actually it only works to lessen one's skill level.

With that said, besides bubba, most campers can be countered. It's the early game tunnelers that really bother me.

I understand when exit doors are open, and perhaps your running, No Ones Even Dead yet perk. But I still feel your better of roaming and finding others.

A lot of people aren't saying spirit is OP because in the grand scheme of things she isn't, she's just incredibly boring to play against for almost everyone considering she has 0 real counterplay and it boils down to guessing based off nothing until you eventually die. Not very rewarding or interactive gameplay imo. Aesthetically I can agree, her crackling sound effects and the way her idle animation looks is really cool looking. Fun to play as though? Well that's up to you. If you think she's fun to play great, I personally like more interaction and interesting chases when I play killer and Spirit isn't about that. I liked her when I started playing killer for the first time, same as Freddy. But then they grew really stale because not only was I getting so much value out of such little effort, their powers kinda fell flat and I realised there's nothing unique about them and I was only having fun because they were strong.

But anyway rambling aside welcome back, this next midchapter update might be enough to keep you playing for longer this time

I have heard this argument a few times on this forum, freddy spirit, too boring to play.

But then I have heard many killers say, how gen speeds are to fast , maps too big, survivors just want to loop.

The thing I don't understand, is then why not play the killers that eliminate all these concerns, spirit and freddy?

Isn't it more fun to get those 4ks with a strong killer, then struggle to get 2ks with a weaker killer, only to turn around and say, "killer needs a buff, gens speeds...etc"

    Just a thought and a question I don't get.

  • Some of us have friends. Some of us like to play with them.

Trust me you can still get tunneled, camped, moried as a swf as well. I'd say probably more often.

Look, do you, live you, but why try to put others down that enjoy playing a different way?

  • And killers want swf nerfed.

Maybe this is the exact reason why many prefer to play with friends.

  • Campers are going to camp. Send them a gg and move on. They probably do it for the salt anyway.

Had a bubba facecamp me to death yesterday. Then proceeded to camp the next teammate to death. He got one more just as they opened the exit doors. 1 got out.

So, I send "Gg wp, I have seen the unicorn, a face camping bubba, lol"

He replys' " Reporting you for making fun of me"

    Smh...

    Here's some tips I've learned:

-A lot of doctors will shock while you're both at opposite ends of the loop. In this case keep running forever, they won't catch you, since they lose all blood lust while shocking people.

-Calm spirit removes a lot of his tracking (not all, mind you) so if you're having a really bad time then use this perk. Be warned though, the lack of screaming from this perk makes you struggle sooner as there's no screaming animation before going straight into button mashing.

-The average game length is 6 minutes, as confirmed by a dev on one of these posts. This means the doc gets to use his static blast ability 6 times per match. When in the terror radius you also hear a directional audio que so you can either hide in time or book it in the opposite direction.

-Lots of doctors will shock where they think you'll run. Taking alternative patching makes them miss their shock and bloodlust and also probably a hit. For example, when at an L-T wall a lot of doctors will shock inside to deny the window (me included) so running to the other wall confuses them a lot.

Good luck, and I'll see you out there in the fog :)

Doctor doesn't lose bloodlust when shocking, he should, but he doesn't

  • Who's running self care still?

I never said nor suggested that it's easy. I'm suggesting that this game is probably the most balanced it has ever been (IMO of course). It is incredibly stressful to play killer. Here is what I suggest:

    • Don't focus on the number of gens that pop. Don't even pay attention to them popping.
    • Patrol gens not people.
    • Don't let survivors drag you away from a more important target.
    • Pick a location perk: BBQ, Thrilling, Discordance
    • Pick a gen slow down perk: Pop, Thrilling, Corrupted
    • Don't let survivors tilt you. This is so important. I suspect this is what loses the game for many killers.
    • Don't worry about flashlights. Survivors with flashlights typically play poorly. Learn to face walls when picking up or checking your surroundings.
    • Recognize that there is likely at least one survivor near the person you just hooked. If you have time, quickly check the area, and then head to a gen that you think is being worked on. Works well with BBQ.
    • Pressure the unhook. Go back to the hook. If you can, down the person that was just unhooked and leave them. Try to down the person that unhooked them.
    • Abandon chases against really good loopers, especially if they are near a great loop. If a survivor just looped me, I got a hit, and they threw a pallet and made good distance, I will abandon the surivor after breaking the pallet. They will either self-care, or make another survivor heal them. Both of these are great for you.
    • Don't always kick the gen. If there is a choice between hitting a survivor or kicking a gen, hit the survivor.

Most, if not almost all, of the games I 3-4k in, are done after the first 2-3 gens pop instantly. I have worked on just not caring about those gens. If they pop, they pop. If they don't, then they will soon enough. Teams fall apart after you've started hooking 1 or 2 people. My rule of thumb is that if I can hook 1 or 2 people before the 3rd gen pops, I can 4k them.

If you are serious about getting better at killer, do not use NOED. Personally, what I've done is play killer with NO perks and NO addons. This made me realize I was relying on my perks and addons way too much and wasn't doing what killers need to do: pressure the gens and hooks.

    Perks you should not underestimate:

    • BBQ
    • Nurses
    • Sloppy Butcher
    • Thrilling
    • Corrupted
    • STBFL (Demo, Deathslinger)
    • Monitor and Abuse (But not on Doctor)

If you are getting destroyed by loopers and pallets, then level up Spirit Fury and Enduring. After breaking two pallets you can eat the 3rd pallet and get an almost guaranteed hit.

I hope this helps in some way.

My misunderstanding was why you quoted me originally. I never stated that 4king at red rank ,doesn't happen.

I was addressing OPs point that killer at red ranks is not ez mode, but actually can be quite challenging.

I do have a lot of killer time in the game, and appreciate you taking time to offer suggestions.

Red Rank Killers 4k most of their games.. so the idea that playing Red Rank Killer is some how more difficult and doesn't lead to 4Ks is statistically incorrect.

And I guess that you agree with op that it is rather easy?

So what are your suggestions for making it harder as OP has requested. I guess we could make gennys take 60 seconds, that could make it harder for them.

I envy you guys that 4k at red ranks all the time, and go too ez! You must think survivor is a joke, because imo that is much easier than killer at red ranks.

Well you guys seem to be in the minority that find killer at high ranks , the ez mode. Guess I'll keep trying to get good.

They probably weren't trying to be toxic, but they were the 3rd 3/4 man in a row I'd gone against, and I'm not dealing with more bs while I'm already dealing with relearning nurse AND her many bugs.

A challenge is fine, if I want one. I'd rather play a fun game though. Idm if 1-2 people escape, what I don't like is starting a game and seeing crap like that, it just screams 'we don't care you're a person, we just want to make your day crap.'

I don't really mind toxicity, it's more things I have no control over, like god-loop abuse or OoO+swf I dislike.

    That is certainly fair enough!

    Yeah I forgot about BT.

DS is supposed to be anti tunnel but we all know how most survivors use it. When they nerf camping, both should nerfed as well

I'd say BT is fine. It's really only strong at end game by the exit doors.

DS should just deactivate after you touch a genny, that's it. I've said it before I'll say it again, you are not being tunneled if you're working on a genny.

I'm with most tho, hopefully the map changes will promote more fun game play and find less fun tactics fading out.

  • Dude, c'mon. Swf is not going anywhere. It is the backbone of the player base and probably the biggest draw the game has currently, playing with friends.

Not to mention there are not as many seal team swf as people like to suggest, and many skilled killers still mop the floor with them.

The devs are shrinking the maps a bit, making more dead zones which should shorten the chase. Which is really all a good killer needs. Quicker chases won. Then they start to put pressure on the survivors, and get that snowball going.

4 randoms is almost a guaranteed 4k. Watch some streamers and perfect your craft and accept the occasional loss. It happens to us all.

  • Everything is slowly dying! Nothing lasts forever. Enjoy the ride while you can!

"There isn't a single thing survivors can do", not "There isn't a single thing I can do", maybe your reading comprehension needs work.

First off, insults say more about you than me. If I misread something than you can point that out in a more friendly way than putting someone down.

Secondly, I read your post to mean survivors cant do anything against her. I see that as a fallacy, as many good survivors can still loop a stridor spirit as well, at least enough to get some objectives done and escape

  • @Seanzu said:

Spirit is a brainless killer, stick on stridor and there isn't a single thing survivors can do.

Except most that have mastered her don't use stridor.

Plenty of good survivors can still loop a spirit as well, so if you believe there is nothing you can do, maybe your survivor needs work.

  • I think most are PC streamers. With that said my favorite is fungoose. He is an educational streamer, and his tactics and lessons are applicable to ps4

  • What's your stream page? Surely you must rank up there with the top killers in the game.

I can't wait to watch you 4k at red ranks all day, got my subscription money ready!

  • I 4k quite often without these changes. Maybe learn that sometimes your opponents get the better of you and win as well.

In this particular case I had been practicing nurse as is finally unlocked shadowborn. I load in to the game, instant OoO so I know this isn't going to be entertaining. I follow them to the main building, they're all there, I get head-on stunned and flashlighted.

In what way is that supposed to be fun? I have similar games at least once a night, and I only play 4-5 games a day.

I hear ya, but not sure it's toxic just yet. I played 4 neas yesterday. All dressed the same. I knew it was going to be a tough match.

I could tell they had already been dodged when I got into lobby. Anywho, same kinda deal, Object and body block madness, running to every infinite, switching out midchase, so now I'm suddenly chasing healthy one.

I ended up getting one at the end by tunneling him down, he had a toolbox.

In the end, send them all ggs and compliment their skills. Was it fun, no not really. Did I know I was in for a challenge when I readied up, sure.

Would I call them toxic, no . They were good and did everything in their power to protect each other. I got hooks and made it challenging for them at least and got one killed.

Guess my point is not everything is toxic , maybe sweaty is a better word, but hell I'm a sweaty killer, and these games let you see how you stake up to the best in the game.

  • You did well. Probably would have done better to have pop and discordance.

Committed to chases a bit, I mean if you saw them on bbq on a genny, and you hit one and they run the opposite direction they are leading you away. Prioritize those gennys at that moment.

Also some bad luck with missed hits. If I was playing survivor they probably would have landed with the hits I've seen, lol. But if you got credit for 2 more of those hits you might have 3ked at least. Just bad luck there.

What ranks were they, because they did well coordinating and pounding gennys on you. Think with the hooks you had and if you had pop you would have won.

  • @SaltedSnow said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1211998#Comment_1211998

When I DC, I do it because the survivors I'm playing against clearly just want a game of bullying a killer. I'm trying to relearn nurse now that I've got shadowborn, I load into a game with 4 survivor offerings, one map and one BPS.

When I get to the main building it's survivors who clearly just want to bully me. ######### that. You want to play the game after queueing you treat the other guy as a person too. Especially if you're a ######### 4man swf.

Well that is not us. We play to have fun and escape. But bullying is not what we do. It is often hard to find more then two of us together as we split up to put the most pressure on that we can.

With that said, if we face a hard tunneling killer. You know , just chasing the same guy all game, ignoring all other survivors, tunneling right off the hook, we will attempt to take the hits and force the killer to at least see how bad their tunnel vision has been.

Can I ask, what do you consider bullying? I have played a lot of killer and rarely find those I would classify as good enough to bully me.

  • Usually just restarting the app fixes it

  • I would love this. I only use medkit because I like the security of at least one heal.

All other items are up for grabs!

I still dont see how this strategy is enough to not make a change. Unless youre a swf group most people wouldnt do this automatically. Also how would people know they were 99% once you start cleansing it would break..if someone left it at 99%. You wouldnt even know if it had been worked on til you go to work on it themselves. Also how many times have you seen someone 99% a gate only to watch someone else run up and finish it instantly? People dobt really work together with these strategies.

I think SWF would be the only ones who would really have to worry about these strategies.

I was just throwing one idea out there for arguments sake.

I just think they reset to reward the killer for chasing you off a totem. Plus if they didn't reset a coordinated team could just hit and run your totem until it is destroyed. Maybe your protecting you DH. It shouldn't be easy to destroy.

  • It just robs survivors of points and possibly a pip.

But with that said, if you dc because we are kicking your butt, that is like triple pipping for me!

Sorry but you queued up to play killer, then dc because you got outplayed and your noed didn't pop. Boohoo so sad. Thanks for giving us a great laugh, as well disrespecting us killers that play fair, albeit maybe a bit sweaty, and take the occasional loss with class.

  • @Dolls said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1211938#Comment_1211938

Would you, though? If you 99% all of them why not just 100% them all? You'd have to track up to 5 at the end game with your method..rather than just break them all right away?

The resetting is dumb..it should at least slowing reset..not instantly.

Because if you miss one. Then you have to search and find that one totem that no one saw all game.

If you leave easy to remember totems up. Then you have much better odds of knowing where noed is.

Same thing I do now really. I do totems in front of doors so a noed killer cant camp door and totem.

I leave easy to get to ones alone. Because if noed pops I have just increased the odds that I know exactly where it is.

Oh please no. I can't stand Tru3. I'd rather watch Minecraft.

    Haha, I totally agree!

  • @Dolls said:

I'd still rather them not reset. It's so annoying to constantly start over. I'ave had to redo some 3 times cause the killer was close enough that I knew the breaking noise would get me killed. Just stop restarting progress on them..it makes no sense.

No this is what makes them effective. If they didn't reset, you could 99 all of them and at end game have a greater chance of finding noed and destroying it in 1 second.

Which admittedly sounds nice to the survivor in me.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

Fungoose is extremely biased. I stopped watching him because he became annoying by how repetitive he was in trying to push his narrative.

Guess agree to disagree on this one. I haven't seen it myself. Perhaps was before I started watching him.

But if you think goose is biased, you gotta see how much of a whiner tru3 is.

  • Watch fungoose if you want a unbiased take on both sides.

I can't stand tru3, to whiny for me

  • Swf is not going anywhere. And if you want them gone then say goodbye to the player base. Playing with friends is what makes this game fun and competitive.

4 randoms is almost a guaranteed 4k. Maybe a guy gets the hatch.

Great killers will still 4k against red rank swfs, check out some of the top streamers. Does it take time to get that good, sure.

But the basics for killer remains the same, when to break chases, when to slug, recognize the opportunity to snow ball.

All swf can really say is, "he's own me, do gens". Which a good killer already knows that the other survivors are doing anyway.

  • Gotta agree with the majority, that is not really unfair. A killer takes more skill than survivor, and ranks up slower so I'd say a rank six killer is pretty equivalent to rank 2 or 3 survivor.

This is a fair match, especially with spirit.

I like pop and discordance, then haunted ground and devour hope on my spirit. Man you can really snowball on them, then.

Not quite, it rewards the killer for the survivors playing poorly not cleansing totems, it can be stopped easy. Unlike other hex perks it can be stopped from even activating meaning the killer is playing the game with 3 perks instead of 4. This is what you would call a "end game build" perk. The point of the perk is to create a secondary objective for survivors to aid in the gen rush. What happens however, is killers are called bad for using it and getting kills with it when the survivors walked past the totems 20 times in a match. It doesnt take long to break a totem and the killer isnt even notified of dull totems.

This was not the intention of noed. Remember it wasn't a hex perk when designed.

This has become the mantra spewed by those trying to defend this perk. This perk simply rewards a killer for failure to do their objectives.

Not to mention no killer is putting this perk on with the intention of teaching survivors the importance of doing bones. They put it on because they expect that the exit door will be powered, failure. Unlike adrenaline, which you put on because you expect to finish the gennys, completion of objectives.

Play it if you want, no hate from us, we love the killers reaction when they get a hit and doesn't activate.

But if you address one, out of respect for the other side, you must address the other.

  • @alaenyia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1210066#Comment_1210066

I agree with your statement but the key word is "we". The changes over the last year have made solo play almost obsolete. Without friends and comms, the chances of survival are pretty low. Changes have been made to make SWF and 1 killer a compatible match-up but it has really killed the solo surv game (what I am 90% of the time).

Yes, I certainly mean we. I won't play anything less than a 3 man swf. If I'm playing solo, I'm playing killer.

That's why as killer I always assume I'm going against some kind of swf

  • Highly skilled strong killers are hard to deal with. But that is why they are in high ranks.

But a good team of survivors are also pretty strong. Last night we survived almost every game. In fact we only lost 3 games and they were to red rank spirit and billy and we took those games to the last genny each game.

So both sides can be pretty strong when played optimally.

  • They are trying to promote more fun game play and interactions with the emblem system.

With that said, you have to play how you want for your own win conditions. Either try to pip and rank up using emblem system as a win condition. Or play to your own win conditions and f the entity.

  • Pretty meta for me I guess.

I run iron will, kindred, dead hard, and adrenaline.

It's a build that allows me to play injured and still win some chases. Also to coordinate rescues and make sure I am using the most of my time.

  • @DeadHardMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1207446#Comment_1207446

Well, the "extra drama" isn't exactly fun when nearly 90% of the game was you outsmarting the Survivors and them just cheaply escaping at the last second.

    Oh and "Entity Displeased"

Dude you aren't getting entity displeased if you won 90% of the game. You must have at least 2 dead and plenty of hook actions if you won 90% of the game, in which case is at a minimum a safety pip.

If you are getting entity displeased, then you were not getting hook actions nor a good gatekeeper emblem.

Also killers say "bring a key and I bring a mori" so now we want to punish them for luckily finding an item too?

They still needed to complete enough gens for the hatch to spawn. It's also pretty rare. I have only found 2 keys in chests. And both times I was running plunderwrs , so I basically gave up a perk slot to get lucky, which is what the perk is for.

Yes it's certainly not every game!

1 … 63 64 65 66 67 … 80
