  • Yes, they both suck to play against. BHVR’s strategy for selling killers is to release them completely busted so everyone wants to buy them, then nerf them after the inevitable uproar. They’ve been nerfed, but still super unfun to face.

  • BHVR has been able to get away with ineffective anti-cheat because the player count has been historically high. They would simply be spending a lot of resources for minimal to no revenue benefit. They won’t do anything unless they are forced to with a significant drop in player count/revenue.

I haven’t seen an obvious cheater in a long time, but subtle cheaters are fairly common. I don’t bother reporting anymore because it’s a huge consumption of time to report and usually gets no response from BHVR.

    Hello everyone,

since the topic of showing the perks from your teammates was brought up I was thinking about this question.

Which builds or perks would be a lobby dodge for you?

Self care and urban evasion are major red flags. Also, anyone bringing an invocation perk pretty much guarantees a loss.

Edit - almost forgot about No Mither!

  • Because if killers were allowed to leave a match for free, they would leave any time one little thing doesn’t go their way and survivors would literally never be able to complete a match unless the killer was stomping them to a 4K.

There are plenty of ways to counter “bully squads”. I’ve done it plenty of time myself. And honestly, there types of teams are so rare in my experience it’s not really an issue.

It's definitely baffling to me that they made this decision, but I tend to not assume they had bad intentions. Definitely seems like a case of "certainly no one is using the TAB key" but they didn't do their proper research. Frankly I'm confused why the match details were moved from the ESC menu to begin with, it was nice to have one location to see everything during a match.

That’s the things - there was zero reason to change from the ESC button, nobody was asking for it, yet they did it anyway, spending time and resources that could have been spent on far more pressing game issues. This kind of thing happens all the time.

  • I have this theory that BHVR makes some insanely terrible change every patch that they know is terrible and nobody is asking for just to rile people up and generate buzz on the socials, which keeps people talking about the game. It’s the old quote from Oscar Wilde: “the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” I’m thoroughly convinced that they do this on purpose because it’s the only logical explanation for making decisions that are this bad.

  • Regarding the stats tracker, until BHVR changes their inexplicable decision to exclude matches with abandons, there’s no reason to bother because the stats are completely bogus. Most matches have at least one abandon so the stats tracker is working with a completely invalid data set.

  • @TheVarietyKiller said:

I play both. I just prefer killer.

Even I feel like gens go too quickly and I win most trials as survivor because it’s just so easy.

Can you show your player stats from your past 10 matches?

  • @WoodenFox said:

I'm glad the changes didn't go through. Just ran into a match of compy survivors. All 4 same name with 8-10k hours each. I was able to beat them by slugging strategically here and there and some camping to force 2nd stage. Almost lost it towards the end but I forced them off gens by tunneling.

They were so desperate to keep their mate in the game that they all kept taking hits. It's very VERY fun to be able to play in interesting ways to beat a very good team. Rewarding brains and tactics instead of brainless plays. Needless to say I would've lost badly if all the handholding mechanics were implemented.

Id rather we not water down the unique aspects of this game for people who don't have the skill to counter these things. That team almost beat me anyways and other teams have beaten me despite me using those tactics. I think we need a causal mode for the people who don't want to learn how to play against those things. Then the "ranked" mode would just be normal DBD.

As a 50/50 survivor/killer player, I fully agree. Well said

  • @FearlessHunter said:

Played 4 games after taking a month break, either me or another survivor gets tunneled out at 5 gens, proceeds to take another break.

Good thing those anti tunnel changes didn't go through though right? :)

Ok - why is nobody on your team working on gens? Is that the killer’s fault? It takes an awfully long time to tunnel someone out unless they only last like 10 seconds in chase. If you are dead at 5 gens then your teammates are literally doing nothing. Even if you are really bad at chases as survivor, there should be at least 2-3 gens being completed before you’re dead. That’s not an issue of killers being too strong.

  • @Memesis said:

Not a great idea, we don't need survivors griefing each other for using lockers. This would be abused like crazy by toxic survivors who want to sell out their teammates for a chance of mercy.

Yeah, I agree. I’m an experienced player and yes it’s annoying when your noob solo queue teammates are hiding in lockers all game, but there any many situations where using a locker is a smart play. I’ve had many occasions where I’ve wasted a ton of killer time hiding in a locker when they came looking for me near a gen being repaired. Also using lockers to counter BBQ.

  • The only people who say tunneling needs to be completely eliminated are survivor-only players who don’t know from experience that there are some situations where tunneling is the only means of applying pressure to have a chance of coming back from a losing match. I have no issue with efforts to reduce/minimize early game tunneling, but “tunneling” when survivors have already had a chance to play most of the match and the killer is losing is completely justifiable. It shouldn’t even be called “tunneling” at that point - it’s simply trying to secure a kill which by the way is the only objective of the killer role.

  • When are you seeing long killer times and what region are you in? I’m in US and every night I’ve played recently, my killer queue times have been instant while my survivor queues have been around 5 minutes. I don’t get to play during the daytime very often, but I’m sure killer queues are longer during the day. That’s nothing new though - it’s been that way for years because there are fewer survivors playing with friends during the day.

I would love to see anyone upvoting this show evidence of abnormally long killer queue times outside of the daytime when historical killer queues have always been long. There’s just no evidence of the preferred narrative of some survivor-only players that people are leaving the game in droves because they don’t like playing survivor.

  • @kaneyboy said:

iv played for 8 years on and off with my friends. We now don’t play anymore, due to the games state. What would bring you back?

Where are you seeing any evidence of “so many survivors leaving the game”, others than a few complaints on a forum? Every night I’ve played recently, I’ve had around 5 minute queues for survivors, while my killer queues have been instant. Sure doesn’t seem like survivor players are leaving from what I can see with queue times.

  • @Leon_van_Straken said:

Yeah would be good till the cherry picking start.

Oh the Killer has 61 Ping? Next

Oh my mate has a 200 Ping? Next

Oh nice this lobby is well but someone saw the Killer only has a ping of 40 and thats to high for him… Next!

This could be avoided by BHVR simply having a ping limit to join a lobby, but we know they will never do that.

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

That's how it used to work, BHVR removed it without giving a reason.

When everyone asked for it back we got the silent treatment.

🤞 Wouldn't mind if they decided to bring it back without giving us 6 months of "we're collecting feedback" & "we're looking into it".

BHVR’s reason for removing it is that they don’t care if you have to play with people who have 300+ ping. As long as they get money from those people who are playing with unfair advantage due to high ping, that’s all that matters. The experience of the rest of the players in the lobby who have decent ping for a fair match is of no concern, apparently.

  • @Brimp said:

As most killers? You can never truly be sure what progress the gens are at unless you physically went to each one or have a dedicated perk slot for it. If I do have the information that multiple gens are being worked on it would be said best play to tunnel someone as they are doing their objective efficiently so it would be stupid not to do mine efficiently unless I really want to rely on a hope that they make game altering mistakes.

I'll wait for the silent downvoters that never really have a good argument.

The downvotes are survivor-only players who lob downvote bombs from their hiding places instead of contributing to the discussion and explaining why you’re wrong or why they don’t like your opinion.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/461412/killers-why-do-you-tunnel-so-much-q-a-investigation

Honestly, I rarely tunnel but whenever I do it’s normally because I’m at three hooks with two gens remaining, Gens are getting done to quickly so I tunnel for pressure, or pretty much when the game is basically over.

Agree. Survivors should never be mad if you’re “tunneling” in this type of situation. For anyone downvoting you on this, please tell us how you would try to come back to have a chance of winning (or even getting 2K) in this situation.

  • @bazarama said:

Tunnelling and slugging increased when all gen regression perks were nerfd into oblivion.

I do think this is at least a contributing factor. With less effective gen pressure tools, killers have to compensate (especially when they are falling behind) by applying pressure via tunneling.

  • I play killer about half the time and I have no problem with survivors trying to “bully” the killer. It just means that they’re not doing gens and it’s super satisfying when their bullying doesn’t work and they ragequit.

  • Looks like yet another virtual stocking filled with coal from BHVR 😂

Just like nurse, blight is very easy to perform well with. Mastering him, just like nurse, is a lot harder.

Its easier to perform well with blight than with most other killers. Low cooldowns, pallet break in the basekit, one of the best mobility powers in the game AND 4.6ms. Oh, and he has great addons as well.

I don’t think Blight is easy to perform well with. He seems similar to Nurse in that it’s very easy to get juked by good players. So you have to be very good at predicting survivor moves around loops to do well with him.

Maybe I’m just really bad with him. But I’d like to see the people complaining that he’s too OP show us how “easy” he is.

Ha, so we should balance around the best survivors but also around the worst killers.

How would you say if a survivor could win 2000 in a row? Surely you wouldn't think that is fine would you?

That’s not at all what I said. I said that the game should be balanced around the 80% players that are not in the top or bottom 10th percentiles. We shouldn’t be balancing the around outliers on either survivor or killer side.

  • Just curious - if someone posted the exact same thing but instead saying that they escape every single match as survivor and the survivor side is way too easy, would you believe them?

  • It looks more like a bright radioactive waste green to me, but either way it looks absolutely awful. I’m still struggling to understand how anyone at BHVR thought this looked better the the old version.

  • @Chrarcq said:

BHVR loves randomly breaking things that didn't need fixing instead of working on things the community queries them about for years.

100% this. It’s one of the most frustrating things about the game.

Community: “hey BHVR, please fix the matchmaking!”

BHVR: “here are some updated map colors!!”

  • I can understand how you feel because I felt a lot like this for the first few years of playing the game. It took me that long to start getting decent in chases as survivor because I don’t play hours per day - I play probably around 6 hours per week on average.

I play both killer and survivor side , so my opinions on game balance come from the perspectives of both sides. When I was bad at survivor, I would have loved to have the survivor side buffed and/or the killer side nerfed. But when survivors got buffed more or OP survivor perks were introduced into the game, the killer side became incredibly frustrating.

So it’s always a balance between how I feel about the killer side and the survivor side in total. The balance seemed to be in a good place before the mass additions of pallets. Certainly now it seems like BHVR went too far the other way with mass pallet removals.

Just curious - do you also play killer? I’m interested to know if you feel like killer is too easy and thus would be ok adjusting the balance to make killer a bit harder and survivor a bit easier.

Making this post because the Nurse has been bugged for two years and this is my frustration, DBD still didn't fix her, her FOV, fatigue, animations, everything is bugged and they do not care. A big company who can't fix bugs that have been in the game for years, genuinely wild that she's been bugged for two years, my friends and I quit because it's pointless waiting now, 2 years is a lot like #########. I genuinely hope a dev will see this and maybe try do something.

This posts explains the FOV and animations, and I think everyone knows that the Nurse has rubber banding issues.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/461325/the-nurse-has-been-bugged-for-2-years-fov-animations-etc

There’s too much content in the game and BHVR doesn’t have the resources to maintain it all. That’s why bugs stay in the game for years and bad perks and bad killers that desperately need reworking continue to get ignored. The problem only gets worse with every new chapter as the mountain of content to maintain grows bigger.

  • I played last night. My survivor queue times were 3-5 minutes and my killer queue times were instant. Basically the same as it’s been for a long time. Survivor players are not leaving the game en masse like some here want us to believe. They’re doing just fine.

Go ahead and downvote all you want, it’s not going to change reality. Honestly if you guys are so miserable playing the game, why are you still playing it?

Hasn't it already been shown how overpowered he is, I think people have winstreaks in the thousands. A PvP game btw.

Those winstreaks prove nothing other than the killer player is on the top end of the skill curve. There are very few people in the world who can do that. I’ve never played against someone like that, and you likely haven’t either. You can’t use the most extreme cases to make conclusions about the game balance. That’s not how statistics work. Statistics uses a large population to draw conclusions about the experience for the vast majority of players who are in the middle, not on the very top or very bottom of the skill curve. That means all killers, including Blight, need to be balanced around how the middle 80% of the curve play with him. The middle 80% of Blights are very beatable if you know how to play against them.

  • The emblem system would be far better than the insane system we have now. Just use the scores in the four categories and base their MMR increase or decrease on that. BHVR literally has a better system staring them right in the face, yet they refuse to use it. It would take BHVR almost no additional work to make this change. Unbelievably frustrating

  • @mecca said:

Because DBD is not supposed to be a fair and fun game. One player is supposed to have agency and control over 4 other players (Power Role).

Honest question - do you actually play killer? You should try it sometime. I think you’ll find that it’s more difficult than you think.

  • @mecca said:

His basekit is simply too strong and oppressive. I don't think it should require justification, but if you play against a decent Blight, not even a good one and walk away feeling like it was fair.

No, you just need to learn to play against Blight. I have no problem evading him in chases unless he’s god-level, and I haven’t run into too many of those. He’s one of my favorite killers to go against.

Blight is actually very difficult to be really good with. If you want to show me some of your own gameplay to prove otherwise, I’ll gladly agree with you.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4033616#Comment_4033616

Ghoul, Blight, Nurse to name some? Why? Unreasonable mobility, which mostly has nothing to do with chase… then the anti loop and chase potential where they ignore half the game comes into play and it's even more obnoxious.

It doesn't take much too see why some killers are broken, arguable Vecna is also to be on that list as his official kill rate is really high since his buffs.

Blight is fine - he’s actually one of my favorite killers to go against. Nurse is OP in the hands of very skilled players, but it takes a lot of skill to be good with her. Ghoul is probably the only one that I agree is problematic because even bad players can clean up pretty easily with him.

Even if all three are in fact “OP”, that still leaves over 90% of the killer roster that isn’t.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

There are 41 killers and like 4-5 of them are OP.

The number of OP killers in and of itself isn't an issue. The problem is that killer balance is so bad that you see those 4-5 a disproportionate amount of the time.

Nerf the top end, buff the bottom bottom end.

I have lost all hope that BHVR has any idea how to balance the killer roster. They’ve had years to do it and they either F up any attempt to adjust killers (e.g. Skull Merchant, Clown, Freddy) or they just ignore the killers completely (e.g. Hag, Trapper, Ghostface)

  • I don’t understand the point of the PTB either. Countless times we’ve seen broken things that lots of people in the community were complaining about go live into the game anyway.

  • We seriously need some live stats (and stats that are actually accurate). It’s impossible to draw any conclusions about game balance because BHVR provides as little data as possible about kill/escape rates. We can’t even use our own stats because the player stats page has been proven to be completely bogus data because it excludes game with abandons (which is probably most matches).

  • What killers are OP and how are they OP? I agree that a few of the top-tier ones are very frustrating to go against, but most of the killer roster is beatable if you know how to play against them.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4033242#Comment_4033242

The 2v8 mechanic is horrible and exploitable and just leads to more problems. Organized survivor teams will actually 99 multiple gens so they can pop them in quick succession instead of taking the penalty. Organized killer teams will tunnel out survivors so they only get one penalty (you don't get the penalty for tunnels)

In theory yes, but I myself never saw that happen in 2v8. I think it’s very rare. But you do have a point that it could be exploited in 1v4 and probably more easily since it’s much more likely to have a coordinated team in 1v4 than in 2v8.

  • What is the point of a roadmap? We have seen countless times in the past that proposed items on the roadmaps were 1) forgotten about completely, 2) attempted and scrapped or 3) pushed into the game to make it worse. Literally the only good roadmap change I can remember in my entire history of playing the game is the HUD improvements for solo queues. That’s it

  • This is only like the 57th time that BHVR has gone way overboard in making adjustments. They just have no ability to make minor adjustments or fine tuning. It’s always a massive sledgehammer to one side or the other. It really makes us wonder how these changes get play tested, if at all. So many times things get released that anyone who has even a little experience in the game immediately knows is busted AF. BHVR should just pick 20 random players to test any changes and they would do a far better job of deciding whether or not to push them live than any of the devs would.

  • Can you post some video to show what is happening? This has never happened to me, so it’s hard to believe without seeing video evidence.

  • @Reinami said:

This has been proven time and time again to be a bad thing. Lets say hypothetically you hook a survivor twice, now that survivor becomes "immune". They can intentionally throw themselves at the killer, get in the way, and be a bother and the killer can do nothing to stop them because if they do "oh well you did the bad thing so now you get punished naughty killer".

Even with the whole like "oh slugging for a long time is bad and slugging the whole team is bad. Like, there are plenty of times where like a bubba, or a trickster can just down the whole team because they get totally outplayed. Why should they be given another chance at that point to get back into the match when they messed up so badly that all 4 of them get downed in rapid succession?

I don't understand this fascination with punishing a killer for playing well and doing exactly the thing they are supposed to be doing.

Because some players feel entitled to escape no matter how poorly they play.

I would actually be ok with some kind of minor comeback mechanic for both sides just to make it slightly less likely that one side steamrolls the other. The 2v8 gen speed buffs/nerfs depending on number of hooks seems like a reasonable thing to try in normal 1v4 mode.

  • @random1543 said:

"If anti slugging and tunneling come through all you will see are the top tiers"

Well they didn't go through, and I would say the majority of matches have been ghoul and blight since the update

Making the game easier for low tiers while doing nothing about the high tiers, people are still going to just play high tiers but now swamp solo q even more

Need to stop this "we need to nerf survivor for the low tiers" then that is done and the majority of matches are still high tiers..

The low tiers should be thriving this update, but because we still have killers like blight unchanged, people who want to swamp matches are just going to pick them.

Edit: played a fair few hours today and yesterday, and haven't even seen a skull merchant who was changed.

OK. My recent matches have not been against top tier killers. Last night had matches against Twins, Trapper and Huntress.

Isn't that what their consultancy program is meant to do?

Yea, exactly. Given the fact that many of the content creators who are likely consultants are always complaining about the changes that BHVR makes to the game, it’s very difficult for me to believe that BHVR is actually listening to consultant feedback before incorporating changes into the live game.

Are these bad survivors? Season 10 had 2.9 kills/game average. These matches typically revolve around tunneling.

I’m talking about the middle 80% of players, not the ones on the extreme side of being really good or really bad. Using comp leagues to generalize about the player base is extremely flawed.

Can't speak for them, but Killer is pretty easy.

The asinine changes to pallets during the update before this one were annoying but didn't affect overall strength much.

These changes, however, do buff Killers that were already performing well.

Seeing your previous posts, at least you can show some evidence that you actually play the killer side (even though the player stats are bogus). I can respect a difference with players who have experience on both sides. It’s the ones who don’t that I have an issue with.
