It certainly can’t be that some of us play a pretty even 50:50 split of survivor and killer and have first hand experience of how easy it is to 4K as a killer and how much effort escaping in solo queue takes in the vast majority of games now could it?

I am a 50:50 player and I strongly disagree. But I at least respect your opinion knowing that you play both sides. There are many here who cannot say the same.

  • @YaBoi0215 said:

The gen rushing and bullying is so bad, there's no reason to even play killer

If they are unwilling to dissuade survivors from garbage tactics then they should put the last nail in the coffin.

Do you see how idiotic and childish you sound? You survivor mains are so used to being spoon fed wins that when you can't 4 out in 2 minutes will running the killer around for an additional 5 you just complain the game is dead and unplayable. Why not actually get some skill and stop complaining when killers play the optimal way. Always double standards with survivor mains.

I would have worded things a bit more kindly, but I agree with you in principle. The complaints seem to be coming from players who either struggle playing the survivor side and/or those that feel entitled to escape most of their games. Also, note how most of these players will never provide any evidence that they themselves can easily win as killer. They just assume that because they are losing that is has to be a problem with game balance or “unfair” strategies on the killer side. I’ve played enough games on both sides to know that tunneling rarely works against good survivors.

I mean, not sure how much proof we need how much they really hate survivors lol.

Wish they would sale the game to a new dev team before it's too late. It has potential to be a fun game.

Do you not understand that a lot of people that player survivor also play killer? When the devs make changes that affect the survivor experience, it’s not like “killer mains” are unaffected because, despite what you seem to believe, many of them also play survivor. The last people that BHVR should be taking input from are those who exclusively play one side, killer or survivor.

  • @ChaosWam said:

Oh boy another Us VS Them post.

Didn't we say the devs hate killer a few weeks ago, now it's they hate survivor?

I think the real answer is obvious: BHVR has no idea how to utilize feedback and goes too far with changes. We've seen it with perks on either side, we've seen it with killers, and we've seen it with maps. The fact we had TOO many pallets and now too few shows this isn't a bias decision, it's misunderstanding their game.

It’s been non-stop us vs them for the past few days from the same usual suspects who don’t play killer side.

  • @mecca said:

It makes sense if they balance their game with blinders on. They want killer to be braindead easy mode.

Can you show us how braindead easy killer is? So many of your posts are just complaining about how hard survivor is and how easy killer. Why do you feel this way? Do you actually play killer? If not, then how do you know it’s easy? If you’re only saying this because you have a hard time playing survivor, and you don’t have any experience as killer, maybe it’s just an issue with how you play survivor.

Think about it this way: what if I can on here and constantly posted about how braindead easy survivor is? How would you respond to that? Would you believe it? I assume that you would either not believe it and/or ask for proof to back up that opinion.

  • @Meg_Survivor said:

This statement is starting to get so annoying! “If killers are tunneling, you need to learn how to loop better” its honestly the dumbest thing i have ever heard in my life, killers can still tunnel even if the survivor is really good! or they can just tunnel for literally no reason at all, Tunneling out a survivor doesnt always mean they are bad at looping, honestly when most killers dont like a certain survivor even if they did nothing to them they will still tunnel them out, the way certain killers think will never make sense to me fr - we needed that anti tunnel update and now we get nothing smh

People make this statement because it’s 100% true. If a survivor can take the killer on an extended chase (ie THEY ARE GOOD AT LOOPING), it makes tunneling far less of an effective strategy. If you want to show us how well tunneling works against really good loopers, please go ahead and post some of video and I will gladly admit that you are right.

It had a yellow tone in the PTB it's now very green, I will say if you have your gamma slider up too high it will be bright cos of the fog - the recommended 2.2 for the gamma slider though does not have this issue.

Yes, it’s extremely radioactive toxic waste green. It looks absolutely awful and unnatural. Literally every single element of the maps is just some different shade of toxic waste green. I am at a loss for how anyone looked at this and said “this looks way better!”

  • It’s pretty clear that the devs spend little to no time in public matches. Things that are very clear to us public match players, like most of the maps were fine for pallet density before all this started, seem to be completely lost on the dev team. It often seems like they are playing a completely different game.

  • Because the “us vs them” tribalism in this game is out of control. The loudest voices are those who only play one side or the other and do nothing but demand endless nerfs for the side they don’t play.

Playing both sides should be a prerequisite for offering input on game balance.

  • LOL the pallet that is standing there by itself is just classic BHVR 😂

Yeah, same experience here. It’s not that all Sables are bad, they just seem far more likely to be bad than most other characters. Leons, Sables and Mikaelas are usually the worst.

  • @PriestessPoppy said:

Might I add, this is the second time these changes get reverted, what are consultants for?

Yeah, it’s pretty clear that the consultant program, if it even exists anymore, is entirely ineffective. So much time and recourse waste could have been avoided by simply asking experienced players “hey, is this a good idea?” for all the terrible ideas that went live and had to be scrapped.

  • The players should not have to do their own scientific studies to investigate this. BHVR could simply come out and tell us how the stats work, but they haven’t and that is very telling. Based on the way they have handled this, there is zero reason to trust anything they say.

ok so what have they done about tunneling and slugging??? absolutely NOTHING - like i said its going to continue to be an issue and they will never do anything to fix it

Yes, and they should do nothing about it because it’s not a problem for survivors who know how to deal with it. Like I’ve said many times already, tunneling and slugging don’t work against good survivors. The demands that “something has to be done” are coming from players who honestly probably need to get a bit better at sustaining chases or if they’re not the ones being tunneled, get gens done.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

First off, how do we know that the people who call a group of players the "loud minority" aren't actually the "loud minority" themselves.

And if content creators are truly the loud minority, then i'd still rather their feedback be taken. Because some of those guys have SOLO QUEUE escape streaks. That's better feedback than a raging forum member's rant.

the biggest problem that actually exists in dbd is not the tunneling, because tunneling already has counters as does slugging, and camping. the biggest problem is the poor matchmaking (which was mentioned in the last livestream btw) and the lack of comms for solo queue. Fix just one of these two things and i think it would balance the game a lot more. These killer strats already have basekit counters and perk counters. And what's more is that (from what i remember, correct me if i'm wrong), anti-tunnel is not even getting nerfed. The OTR nerf is reducing the endurance timer from a stupidly long timer to a more realistic anti-tunnel timer. Because that extra long endurance was not for anti-tunneling, it was used for BODYBLOCKING! The bodyblocking survivor wanted to get tunneled! If you are complaining about this change then you must have either not read the change or you are not actually complaining about tunneling.

I'm not saying that solo queue doest have its weaknesses and bad moments, but from my personal experience, and from what i've seen in content creator gameplays, it's not remotely close to how bad some people describe it.

Agree. The feedback that BHVR is rightly listening to is from content creators who have a much better understanding of game balance than the random survivor-only players on this forum that are the ones who are upset about this.

  • The most frustrating thing for me is that matchmaking is by far the biggest problem in the game yet it continues to be ignored while the devs waste all this time working on other minor-to-nonexistent issues.

There IS no counter. None. If killer proxycamps and decides to down you off hook there is zero counterplay. You are dead regardless of skill.

This is 100% untrue. If I play pretty much any killer other than the very top-tier against good survivors who know how to loop, tunneling results in 1 kill because the other three I’m not chasing simply get all the gens done while I’m wasting all my time chasing the one target. Tunneling only works when survivors can’t sustain chases and their teammates refuse to do gens while the killer is occupied.

    Really?!
That's such GOOD NEWS! The crybabies are unsintalling! o/
I don't mind waiting 5 min to play killer if I'll be playing matches were no surv will DC after the first chase and ruin the experience for the four remaining players.

If the ones who are supposedly uninstalling are the ones on my solo queue teams who DC when they get downed for the first time or get downed 5 seconds after being found by the killer, then I am totally ok with it

There's a decent amount of survivors uninstalling to take a stand against the studio. I said let's just not give them any cash, but they're going ahead with uninstalls.

Ok - not sure where you’re getting your official uninstall count stats from, but whatever

  • @mecca said:

It'll be ok. They'll add play while you wait in 1v4 to help killers enjoy the game.

What are you talking about? I never have to wait for killer when I play during the evenings (which is when I play most frequently). There are more than enough survivor players. This is simply the same doomposting we always hear when survivor-only players are upset about not getting unnecessary, abusable and balance-damaging buffs for their side.

  • @Meg_Survivor said:

I swear so many people are going to stop playing this game, multiple PTB’s just for tunneling and slugging to NOT go through! This is the biggest issue survivors are having right now and once again you listen to your biggest playerbase (Killers) even in the community stream there was nothing but killer mains in the chat when they asked to tell them which side we mained, nothing will ever change, this is so ridiculous - survivors i honestly think we need to stop playing this game and play something else. BHVR literally does NOT care about the community as a whole, they just want to make sure they keep the other side happy.

BHVR is trying to keep both sides happy (as much as this is possible). People often forget that a lot of players play both sides and they want a game that is balanced for both sides. Many of the prominent voices in the community also play both sides, so they understand when certain things break game balance, especially at higher skill levels. You’re making this an “us vs them” thing as if every player either plays only survivor or only killer. BHVR needs to listen to people who have experience playing both sides, not those who exclusively play one side or the other.

  • @YaBoi0215 said:

Leave it to a survivor main to complain about not having their hand held even more than is already is. The whole mentality just feels like, "If I don't instantly spawn at an open exit gate the beginning of the game with infinite sprint burst and 7 millions pallets to annoy the killer than the game sucks and should be cancelled."

Maybe enjoy some challenge with the game. Learn to run loops properly. Appreciate the skill of good killers that now how to mind game and outplay you around loops. If you can do that then the game will be more enjoyable.

I’ve come to a similar conclusion that the whole initiative to “solve” the “problem” of tunneling is simply handholding bad players. I know I’ll get downvoted for this, but I don’t care because it’s a tough truth for some people to swallow. I play both sides about equally, and tunneling rarely works when survivors know how to deal with it. If I try to tunnel as killer against good survivors, I will usually get that one kill and that’s it. When I play survivor, if the target of the tunneling is halfway competent, they can keep the killer busy far long enough for the rest of the team to get all the gens done. Tunneling only works when the target can’t last more than 10 seconds in chase and/or teammates aren’t doing gens like they should be while the killer is busy focused on just one person.

    are we fr ?

i dont want blight to be nerfed because i quite like versing him. his add ons however? slight tweaks would be nice. his double speed add ons to be specific need to be reworked or lowered to 1% and 2% to give a max of 3% when paired together instead of 5% — or remove the ability to stack them.

I agree with you 100%. I love going against Blight and I don’t find him to be OP in the least. Sure, there are some god-level Blights out there, but I rarely run into them. And you know what - good for them! If they have the skill to be that good with a tough killer to master, then hats off. Most Blights I have faced are very easy to dodge and mindgame. I don’t care if this is an unpopular opinion, but the complaints about Blight being OP are coming from players who simply don’t know how to play against him.

  • So that my useless teammates can infuriate me when I see them cleansing totems all match instead of helping their team win the game.

I would be all for taking them out of 2v8 mode, but I think a better solution would be to make them more interesting. Something like giving individual survivors or the team some type of temporary buffs when they cleanse a totem. Or automatically uncage a survivor. There are a lot of interesting things totems could do to make them a relevant part of the 2v8 mode.

  • @mecca said:

Because BHVR insists on survivor being an underdog in the game. Nobody wants to play that.

    And killer is more fun.

Yes, survivors are supposed to be the underdog, just like every horror movie and video game ever made. That is the entire point of the horror genre. This isn’t COD or other similar PvP shooters - it’s not supposed to be exactly equal on both sides.

You say “nobody wants to play that”, yet somehow this game has been incredibly successful for 10 years. How does that happen if nobody wants to play survivors? I play survivor and I have plenty of fun, so do a lot of other survivor players.

What specific issues do you have with the survivor role?

  • @mecca said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4028603#Comment_4028603

I don't think I'm the only one. There's literally a 300% incentive and there's still not enough survivors.

Ok, but you still didn’t answer my question about what specific issue you have with the survivor side. Why are you not having fun with it?

  • @mecca said:

Once again, there's a massive problem of survivors NOT enjoying the game and killers waiting and waiting to play. Why are we mad they are trying to find out what survivors dislike? We really can't be this out of touch.

How do you know there is a massive problem of survivors not enjoying the game? Maybe it’s just you?

I have played solo queue survivor most of the time in this edition of 2v8 and I’ve had a lot of fun. Killer queue times are still way too long, but this has been the easiest and most fun I’ve had on the survivor side in 2v8.

What issues do you have with the survivor side in 2v8?

  • @Memesis said:

I love how there's detection to punish and ban "going next" when it was already solved by deleting 4%, but there's nothing to detect permanent haste, actual teleporting, modified action speeds etc No, you need to record upload that yourself to ban a cheater, like you're filing taxes

1000% this. BHVR spent all these resources trying to detect players who are not participating in an “acceptable” way, yet apparently they can’t figure out a way to detect players cheating and doing things that are literally impossible in the game without cheats. Instead they force us innocent players to spend hours recording, editing, uploading, filling out forms, etc to maybe get the cheater banned.

    All the facepalms…. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  • At bare minimum, BHVR should show everyone’s ping in the lobby so players can choose if they want to play in an unfair match. It’s incredibly frustrating that they don’t seem to care about the quality of player experience. They just want max number of players no matter how much it negatively impacts the fairness of matches for other players.

  • @Willish said:

Don't lots of the killers just disregard pallets, insta break them, vault over them or use their power over them? It might feel like a pain if you're a trapper for example, but if you're a Wraith or that silly head thing, pallets aren't that big of a deal. There needs to be a middle ground or all killers need to deal with pallets the same way. Behaviour caused this issue.

A few killers can “disregard” pallets, but most cannot

  • I play on PC and I’ve seen some very good console players, but in general the PC teammates/opponents seem to be more skilled. I assume that one of the main reasons is that it’s just easier to play the game with a keyboard and mouse.

Anyway, I don’t think cross play is the reason for bad matchmaking. I think it’s just that BHVRs matchmaking system is terrible. It prioritizes queue time far too much and basically “gives up” after like 5 seconds of trying to find a “fair” match. I would be more than willing to have longer queue times in exchange for more consistently getting competent teammates in my solo queue matches.

  • @THE_Crazy_Hyena said:

Who keeps necroing all of these old threads?
I'm starting to notice a funny smell in the forums

I was going to ask the same exact question LOL. Seems to be happening a lot lately. I saw one of the mods recently closed at least one thread where this happened. Why don’t the mods just implement an auto-close on threads after a certain period of time? Seems like there’s a very simple solution to this problem.

  • I say this as someone who plays both sides: the fact that some are complaining that killer side is too hard is probably a good thing given that the queue times are still horrendously long for killer. It’s just a basic fact that we need some people who would normally play killer to either pick survivor side or just not queue up at all if there is going to be any reduction in the killer queue times.

  • They also didn’t add “no Legion” as a choice which was by far the best change in this edition of 2v8.

  • Wesker is fine. He’s almost universally regarded as one of the most balanced and well-designed killers in the game. He’s like literally the last killer we should be complaining about.

  • @riri101 said:

I’m escaping through hatch or gate & I’d rather let the entity take me than let a killer get a free grab

if you wanna survive , stay off that hook otherwise I’m not saving you .

also add me if you wanna play

”You’re staying in hook an I’m not saving you” and then “also add me if you wanna play”.

I’m going to guess you won’t get many takers on that offer 😂

  • It sounds like this is a problem with the DC penalties not being harsh enough. If Scott is constantly seeing survivors DC in his matches, clearly the current penalties are not enough of a deterrent.

  • @BorisDDAA said:

We've been telling BHVR to add more classes and not just new killers for over a year and still nothing changed.

Yeah I think this is the biggest reason why there is lack of interest in the 2v8 survivor role. I’ve escaped most of my matches so far as survivor, so I don’t think it’s because survivor side is too difficult. And it’s certainly not BP incentives because those don’t seem to help at all. I think it’s like you said - nothing new or interesting for the survivor sides

  • @mecca said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4027411#Comment_4027411

Yes, but you also forgot one half of the game, optimal killers. Two killers on discord mops the floor and survivors can't do their objectives.

I’ve escaped most of my 2v8 matches. As long as teammates don’t screw around and waste their time, escapes have been pretty easy. Are you having a tough time escaping in 2v8?

  • Yeah, this is never going to happen again. Every time they’ve done it in the past has been a complete embarrassment for them because they always expose the major problems in the game.

  • My guess is that the devs realized that no BP bonus no matter how large would help balance the queues. So I suspect they just buffed survivor side more and lowered the max BP bonus. This has felt like the easiest version of 2v8 on the survivor side for me. I’ve escaped most of my matches on the survivor side, and the few killer matches I played were extremely tough as gens were flying left and right.

  • @sprogster said:

    Insane surv handholding.

Remember when killers were supposed to be the power role in this game "dead" in "dead by daylight" being the operative word?

Now, with "updates by spreadsheet" by devs who never play as and don't understand the role of killer, we have a game that is essentially a "pallet break simulator" for killers. Survs run to a pallet, drop it, run five feet (because pallets are genuinely that copious and close to each other these days) rinse and repeat.

Don't even get me started on this recent mess of a ptb where killers are punished for having just about any kind of valid strategy play.

I’m not going to uninstall, but agree with the “handholding”. Good survivors who know how to properly loop have no problem escaping either against me when I play killer or as my teammates when I play survivor. Every game has a skill curve and it feels like all the complaints asking for killer nerfs/survivor buffs are coming from the lower end of the curve.

  • Ok, you’re entitled to that opinion. A vast majority of players found Legion miserable to go against in 2v8. I am one of them, and I am enjoying 2v8 much more now that there’s no Legion.

  • @Blueberry said:

Well the original reason it was done was supposed to be because of separate killers mmr's. Which would have made sense. Realistically though that just doesn't exist. I can pick a killer I've never played a single game on and it's still throwing me against groups with thousands of hours that my mains would be getting matched against. Their % of main mmr to other killers mmr is way too small to justify preventing killer swapping as it was supposed to. I don't mind still preventing us from swapping if they gave us actual separate killer mmr's.

It's super annoying trying to learn killers I'm new on and I still have to face high hour sweat squads. Some of the mmr from my mains applying because of general knowledge I get, but it needs to be significantly less than it currently is.

I agree. There is no difference in matchmaking based on which killer you choose, so there is no reason for killer to not be able to switch characters in the lobby.

There is an option to close it but i guess people just dont know about it.

I think people know about it, but just because there’s an option to close it doesn’t mean people are going to do it, even if they should. It’s just way too tempting for people to be toxic to each other. Best to just not give people the option. There is literally no upside for having an endgame chat.

  • BHVR should just get rid of endgame chat. It serves no purpose other than to give people a way to be toxic and hateful to each other.

  • Killer queue times are still insanely long, so as long as that remains true, there needs to be as much incentive as possible for people to choose the survivor side. Seeing some complaints about the killer side being too difficult is a good thing because killer queue times will never get better unless more people choose survivor side over killer side, or if some people who want to play killer decide to just not play 2v8 at all.

  • As long as BHVR excludes matches with abandons from the stats (still trying to understand the logic behind that), these stats are completely invalid.

  • @sinisterstubbs77 said:

I don't get this. Literally for me since yesterday, when I play as a survivor, I've only escaped twice. That's because all the other times, my whole team, as usual, won't do gens, they hide, etc. Oh, and I did have a shot at the hatch once. It spawned next to a window, literally, and an Oni was behind me. Did I make hatch? No! The game thought I wanted the window instead! Smacked and killed by the Oni.

When I've been able to play as the killer, the survivors finish the gens in minutes, flashlight save, have time for tea bags, all of it. This is ridiculous.

If it makes you feel any better, the same thing happens in normal 1v4 matchmaking

1 … 6 7 8 9
