No, they have to hold down their 'active ability' button for 4 seconds and can cancel it by letting go of it.
So they just committed to a bad decision at that moment. Got it. Thanks so much for the info!

Self Care is nice to get a bit of my healing done when no one is near me or they are too busy to heal me. Once I get closer to them, the amount of time needed for them to heal me is even shorter because I've already done some of it with Self Care. It definitely has a place in the game.

Take my upvote because thats good lol.
Haha...that one was already teed up for me. I would have hated myself if I didnt take a swing! Lol

Im all for helping solos but that aint the way. Toxicity trust issues and frustration would be the norm. Also swfs wouldnt be in the chat anyway probably if they were whats stopping them from being toxic to the rando or not helping them itd become really bad.
That was my first thought when I read OP's post. The SWF have their own comms and arent going to be using the game ones that only let them talk when they are in close proximity.

He's been leaving the cookies and only drinking the milk this year so he's gonna be a jacked Santa lmao
Unless he is lactose intolerant. Then the bottles wont be the only thing spreading gas around the map!
-
You also left out the fact that a DC will pretty much kill your chances of getting a merciless victory. I dont even try for the adept killer achievements anymore.
-
Keep in mind, these players are learning a new killer while playing survivors who are using the same old, time-tested, tactics. Obviously the learning curve is steep when any misuse of the new killer's power will get capitalized on by survivors, especially in the upper ranks.

Yes, picking each other up the whole game untill the bleed out timers go down, what a fantastic gaming experience.
Not every match is going to be fun, just like not every killer slugs just for the sake of a 4k. I think you need to revise your "gaming experience" expectations.

I was just telling a buddy that I haven't played against a nurse in at least 3 weeks now. I'm actually starting to miss the old girl....

"I don't camp when I'm the Killer and believe me I could if I wanted to because I can't see that well, so camping would be a good way to get kills"
Camping is a terrible way to get kills. If the survivors have any experience with the game, they will team up on gens and the game will be over with you walking away with the single kill you camped. Camping only works on overly-altruistic players who insist on getting that hook save even though their teammates have tried the same thing and are getting downed.

DH works its just you don't know the killers latency to the server to adjust your timing. There are still plenty of useful perks and I do realize removing the passive affect remove incentive to run the perk. What I fail to see is how it ruins solo survivor.
Exactly. I only play solo and dont even use exhaustion perks most of the time. I think he's mad because his perk of choice was changed, but you can still be a strong solo survivor without it.

I always thought it was fun thar the rift encouraged you to play differently, and run different perks, it makes the game way less stale when going for challenges.
This. 100%. In order to do the "This is Happening" challenge, I had to run No Mither and This is Not Happening, two perks I have NEVER run before. I like being pulled out of my comfort zone and trying something new!
-
Definitely. Should make for more variety. I used to pick my killers based on the daily ritual.

Lord I see the Spirit mains are thicc in this Chili's tonight. I've played for months against her. I routinely lose matches as survivor to her and only her.
She's a problem. You're just blind to it, because you all love how fun she is to play as a killer.
Actually, I play all the killers and equally as much survivor and, believe it or not, have outplayed spirits (shocking I know). But I guess it's easier to post about your little protest then learn how to play the game. That's fine. If we are on the same survivor team, we will somehow survive without you. If I go against you as killer, thanks for the easy kill.

@Marcus said:
So after your statement, if I play against a gen rushing team with DS, DH, Adrenaline, BT and Toolboxes, it's ok to go AFK in basement, because the match is pointless and unfun anyway ?
You forgot about Object of Obsession. Those survivors really want you to chase them. By OP's logic, we should just stand there and stare at them (as a protest)....lol
-
@Xboned I had a similar post a few months back. In June, after playing only killer for the past two years, I finally gave survivor a try. I had the same observations as you. I found the games to be much more relaxed as a survivor than I ever did playing only killers. In addition, my experiences being looped as a killer helped me learn survivor much faster because I already had some routes to run when being chased by the killer. I play both sides pretty equally now. I play killer when I want to earn BPs faster and survivor to chill out when the killer matches get too stressful.
-
I hate using SB, not because it's necessarily a bad perk, but I always end up running towards an objective and accidentally wasting it...lol

I honestly swear I play against survivors that mostly have ZERO clue they leave scratch marks or disturb crows. I just can’t fathom why I come across so many bold/reckless survivors.
That's probably because they only play survivor and don't know what the game looks like from a killer's perspective.
-
Haha...that's LITERALLY my response to survivors who accuse me of tunneling. "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it does." :)

Halloween offering from last year got updated with new text, it's now gonna be fix 1gen to get 1token and hook 1survivor to get 1token
It's kind of sad that there's no 2nd objective anymore like it was last year :/
So sad. I liked having to find the plants and collect the goo. RIP goo plants....
-
I wouldn't change a thing. I've played her as killer and against her as survivor and always have fun. Even her lore is interesting to me.

Just try him out mate, just remind yourself that you try him out for the first times so losing won't feel as bad. And trust me, with the right perks, enough teleporting and m2ing on key moments you won't have it that hard unless you verse those 3k hours legacy survivors sweating their butts off.
Good point. Got to remember that there was a first time playing Spirit and Nurse too and how rough it was in the beginning. Now, they are two of my strongest killers. Might have to try a little Demogorgon this am. Especially being a fan on the series....
-
I've been leveling him up during the event and unlocked all his perks but have been too nervous to try him out yet. Based on all the sweaty, try-hard survivors I've been getting as killer this weekend, I'm going to wait until the event is over first.

Ahem... Not to be rude but um... Scream was a tv series for a long time. Stranger things is a Netflix show. Leatherface is based on a true story. Anything can happen my friend...
Not rude at all. When I said movies, i was including TV. Leatherface, I would argue, is still a movie character. Otherwise the killer would be named Ed Gein. 5 Nights at Freddys is a kid's game. Would not fit
-
Ironically, it actually got me interested in the actual Stranger Things show...lol. I never followed it prior to the DLC being released and decided to check it out. Now I'm a fan!

Wait… Bill is based on the movie? Isn't he from the left 4 dead game?
Haha...you got me. Damn. I totally forgot about the Left 4 Dead DLC.
-
Dear God no. Besides, all the DBD content is either original or based on movies. Making a chapter based on a competitor's video game would just be a conflict of interest.
-
Because they suck.
-
Exactly!
-
Change your mind? Heck, I'll double down on your statement. When I play killer, it's one of those maps where I tend to struggle (just like yamaoka's estate as someone pointed out earlier). I always seem to be on the defensive and rarely get a good amount of map pressure. Now as a survivor, I tend to do quite well on that map.. lol
-
I use the hell out of Tapp's perks, especially Stake Out. I used to bring Detective's Hunch all the time as well, but have recently swapped it out for Small Game to find those annoying totems even when I haven't completed a gen yet.

I know what you mean. I had a match the other day where the only thing my teammate said in post-game was "useless Feng". And it was like... yeah, I only did a gen and ran the killer around for half the game, completely useless. Just because they didn't see you doing anything, somehow to them that's proof that you didn't.
I don't even know why it bothered me as much as it did. I guess just because it feels so unfair and unprovoked. No one likes having other people telling or believing lies about them. So yeah... I got your back. Know exactly what you're talking about. It sucks.
I know exactly what you mean. I have someone say the exact same thing ("Feng did nothing"). I had to remind that person that I did two solo gens and three totems while they ran the killer around. Person was just salty because they got caught and camped by a huntress during the endgame and I wasn't going to sacrifice myself for him.
-
I stopped caring about my rank after i started getting that "unable to update rank" error after almost every game. Now i can only depip, so my rank never improves no matter how well i play. Fortunately, i hear that error is being addressed in the new patch so i just have to make it a few more days...
-
Yes, i sang it in my head using the captain's voice...lol
-
Find Kate and Jane and work on repopulating the realm! (Hey, you asked....)
-
I can juke a nurse easier than i can juke a spirit for some reason. Probably why i like playing spirit so much more when i play killer.
-
Absolutely. There was just something really fun about juggling survivors to keep them all in the dream state at the same time.
-
Im always happy when someone gets hooked and I realize they have Kindred. :)
-
I usually take a second to see where the survivor went. They arent getting far and im not wasting time taking an immediate swing and missing.
-
I usually play my "second string" killers to satisfy a daily. Even if i don't do a great job, i still usually get the points from the daily.
-
Killer is definitely harder. Even though playing solo survivor and watching myself move to the struggle state on the hook while my teammates are just putzing around the map, i still think it's less stressful than killer.
-
The only time I ever sabo is when I get it as a daily. Otherwise, i spend that time chunking gens...
-
All you would get from an extra slot is people able to have their boosted four perk combos and then one more slot to have a "fun" perk. Part of the challenge of the game is the trade-off you get by having to only choose 4 perks out of your entire collection. You want Devour Hope? Use it in place of Ruin. You want to run We're Gonna Live Forever? Maybe you have to pass on Adrenaline this round.
-
Yep. My killer games usually invovle waiting 8-10 minutes to search for a match, only to get into a lobby with less than four people and have to wait some more. When you add in the fact that some people just refuse to ready up, it makes for a long wait to play one match as killer. Its amazing how many survivor matches i can find in the same time frame. The matchmaking is definitely worse now than it was.
-
@SairekThats why your logic is faulty.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Maybe remove her ability to outright body block into you while she's phasing.
If she's a ghost she shouldn't be able to physically run into you and block you, and vice versa. Makes it too easy to know where the survivor is.
@Sairek by that logic, she would also be able to walk thru walls which would be even more frustrating for survivors. Watch what you ask for as it may have unforeseen consequences...
-
im a hag main and right now i have barbecue and chili, nurses calling, noed and monitor and abuse. is there any perks i should change?
I am not a big fan of NOED. When i use nurse's calling, i pair it with sloppy butcher to maximize the amount of time i can see their auras.
-
@Tsulan I've heard that too! However, I have a ways to go before I can get mad at other survivors. I started my first game apologizing to the team in case I did something stupid in the match! LOL
-
@Poweas said:
Just wait until you see the bs that some survivors make you go through. Or when you're the only one doing totems, and the killer decides to tunnel and camp you so he gets the NOED :P.
But if you enjoy survivor, keep playing, I wanna see what you think of solo survivor.
Solo survivor is going to be what I use when I need a break from killer. I'm still going to main killer, but I intend to balance my survivor games much more. Just thinking about all the survivor dailies I have trashed in the past because I only played killer makes me tear up over all those lost bloodpoints....lol
-
@Mochan My friend was just saying the same thing. Having played really optimal survivors before, I know what worked well against me and what didn't, so I already have a good foundation. I had two pallet stuns against a killer during the chase and was never hit because I've seen other survivors run those same paths and stun me as a killer.
@thesuicidefox Camping and tunneling doesn't bother me, as I've used those same techniques when I need to change the momentum as a killer. I think the people that really get upset about that stuff are the ones who rarely, if ever, play killer and don't know what it's like to do whatever necessary to create map pressure against a team of optimal survivors.
