Yeah, I can't play. On PS5

I went on killer, then went to survivor and spammed the survivor tab. I am now playing survivor. I'm also on PS5.

I managed to get on survivor by spamming it in the menu. Maybe give it a try.

Good. That extreme gen pressure part of her kit is bad and should be removed. I just think the rest of the update goes a bit too far in nerfing her other gameplay elements
Who knows, the new version might be fun. It's hard to tell atm.

oh that is stupid, i didn't fully read the changes
...reading the alternative, i don't think that's horrible, the drone still forces survivors to leave a strong loop and get hit or stay at the loop and still lose a health state, but i think it does seem disappointingly weak
I don't think they do anything to stationary survivors either. So if you are on a gen, it won't pick you up.
-
I played as killer, then spammed survivor and it let me play. Maybe just keep trying and it might work? I have no idea.

I play on console so another few weeks for me but I'm going to watch videos or streams. She sounds like she has a decent power but I don't know at this stage. The anti camping feature is what I'm looking forward to. Bubba's are actually going to suck now since that's all most of them know how to do. No offense to anyone who doesn't play him like this. Anyone have any thoughts?
I am looking forward to facing the SM. It will be an interesting experience.
I'm also hoping the anti-hook camping mechanic will be enough to cost five gen hook campers every match they play. I have absoloutely zero sympathy for these people.
Every Booba I meet is incredibly good, I'm guessing they are character specialists. So I never see them hook camping.
Also, 👉️🐽

I'm on PS5, and it won't let me play as survivor, as I get the "PARTY CREATION FAILED" notification.
Edit: Even custom games are bugged. Tutorials, The Archives, and killer work.
But I can play as Killer. I guess it's time for Anxious Gasp Nurse. Look out, mid to low MMR survivors who can actually load into a match, I am on my way.
Update: Custom games just worked. This is really strange.
2nd Update: Custom games has stopped working again. Killer is the only one that works consistently.

I'm on PS5 and I can't play as survivor, only killer.

they could just have trapper start with all his traps... they could have him be like thor and like, magnet pull the traps from anywhere... or both of these.
but no... he's still the only killer that needs to go around the map to pick up his power to use it, and that after using it has to pick it back up or leave it there doing nothing.
"we know some traps spawn in the corners so they are essentially useless for the entire match. so we made more spawn to compensate" is not really a buff. it's a bandaid.
you would think that being in a world where every killer(not named myers) with a limited resource type power that just has it recharge somehow... would mean that trapper would get something... but no.
freddy, hag and I believe singularity all just replace the oldest thing with the newer one. which one can argue makes sense for freddy, but how is the physical drawing that hag did disappearing all of a sudden?
clown just holds a button.
artist, blight, bubba just... wait a bit.
huntress and trickster recharge at lockers... those are usually always close by and they never need to go to the corner of the map.
but trapper? no no no... you walk over there and grab the trap back up and then walk to where you want it and only then put it down. you would obviously be too strong if you could just set the trap down right away... or if you didn't need to walk a mini marathon around the map collecting the traps...
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3545190#Comment_3545190
with all due respect... who cares?
do you think deathslinger just carries a billion bullets in his pocket at all times? his gun doesn't work on compressed gas or springs you know? how does he keep getting those?
or do you think clown has a miniature laboratory in his belly? and a bottle factory? maybe he just starts the trial with 5000 bottles in his back pocket...
huntress grabs 1 hatchet from the closet, but it turns into 5.
but oh no... trapper getting his traps without walking to them is what breaks your suspension of disbelief? c'mon
The only issue I could see with him spawning with all his traps, is the potential for him to channel his inner Hag, and just set up a three gen right from the start. Him having to collect his traps at least gives survivors a chance to break the three gen before he can set one up.
I think he's genuinely difficult to balance. He's meant to be trash in chase, so it emphasizes the use of his power. But if his power is too strong, then you have a strong camping killer with a very low skill floor. Which is never healthy for the game.
-
I'm like 90% solo survivor, so I don't play many of the killers. I play Nurse as she was the first killer I tried and is fun to play. I met a memeing Ghostface, so I bought him and followed in his footsteps. The same happened with Nemesis.
Not having tried them, I can't comment on how they feels to play. But I can say that their reputation of extremely clunky gameplay combined with their aesthetic has put me off trying them out. Maybe if I met more of them I would feel differently.

Why do you keep doing this with people's posts? It doesn't make their statement look bad, it just makes you look weird.

I blame the SM. Not specifically for the delay to MFT getting changed, but for everything.

This still has to make it's way through the PTB. If she is weak then she will likely get buffed before release.
Then we will discover that she can hold the gate switches hostage somehow, and the cycle will begin again.

Almost like multiplayer games should be balanced around high level players not people with 10 hours.
I feel like if the game was playable for casuals, balance would be easier to achieve. I've played plenty of technically challenging games, old school Guilty Gear games for example, but the growing pains in DbD seem so much worse by comparison. Getting casuals over the skill floor and up to a competent level of play takes way too long.
I don't know how BHVR balances the game, when it takes new players a good hundred hours to be competent. Maybe if BHVR could find some way of streamlining that process, they could balance the gamer easier.
-
I don't think anyone enjoys being camped. It's a pretty universally boring experience.
Getting tunneled is fine if the killer sucks hard and you have teammates with brains. If the matchmaking works getting tunneled sucks as an experience.
If most of your experience in match doesn't require you to be holding your controller, then it's a bad experience.

It was fixed in 2017 if i remember correctly. He has a small minimum range and survivors get like 2 seconds invulnurability from bear traps after unhook.
Ah, I didn't start playing till 2021, so I missed that. I wonder why Trappers keep setting one up to catch deliverance?

He can't place under hooks.
Is that a new change? As I currently see Trappers placing one down to stop Deliverance. Although I've never actually seen whether it works or not.
-
Can you elaborate?
-
Now I think about it, what if Trapper just sets a trap in front of the hook? Endurance doesn't help with that, right? So Trapper could just ignore the anti hook camping mechanic?
-
@RubberBrain said:
Tunneling is fine, both sides do toxic things that neither side like, tunneling is the most effective way to get killers and if killers continue to tunnel even after other survivors take enough hits for a down you think they’re gonna stop from endurance? And not only that but it’s not like every killer tunnels if you give survivors incredible anti tunneling kits survivors will abuse that even on killers that don’t tunnel
Wouldn't it be better if tunneling was made harder and killers were all buffed to compensate for it? That would be more fun for everyone in the match.
Hard tunneling should not be the most effective way to win as killer. That just ensures the most miserable tactic is present in every match. The game should make hook camping and hard tunneling the least appealing option. At least early in the game.
-
@Venusa said:
De-pipping is outdated and most of the time out of your control. Your performance in game doesn't matter if you get baby teammates or a killer that decides to facecamp/tunnel you out. But you're the one getting punished for it. Remove de-pipping PERIOD.
It is weird that a player who gets facecamped out at the start of the match, is deemed to suck by the MMR system.

What makes you say that? Me vaulting, running away then getting sucked back over has something to do with skill and not poor coding/people's bad ping? My ping is a steady 20-40ms fwiw. Also not being able to drop palettes has to do with skill? It says press RB, so I do, and nothing happens. In all my other games, my controller works flawlessly.
I play plenty of other games, FFXIV, FFXI, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Resident Evil Resistance (of all games, it doesn't even have problems here haha), MHW, GTA, RDR2, no issues like this whatsoever in those games. I tested my button and it works.
When I stun the killer, run, and then suddenly I am dead does it also somehow have something to do with skills? I am really confused.
I have over 3 P100 characters, I know how the game works lol. This has nothing to do with me, and everything to do with latency issues. It's not like FFXIV, where they have dedicated servers to connect to per region and this game allows VPN, which, causes these problems...if you use a VPN there, in FFXIV and most other games I play, you get banned, because you can have advantages. This clearly is not the case with this game. So I want to know if this will be fixed, or allowed, so I can just uninstall it and move on.
So, perhaps it is you who has the "skill issue" understanding what is really going on over here.
Please offer something more useful then some flame comment. Thank you.
Don't waste several paragraphs responding to that.
Here, have a boop 👉️🐽

The reworked maps do look nice. But I prefer the old lighting. Everything is so bright and clear now. Are the mist offerings even useful now? What's a whispy pube of mist gonna do on Toba Landing?
-
Flashlight are one of the most technical and interactive tools survivors have. It would make the survivor experience more boring overall if they didn't return.
They can definitely be a pain, but there's ways BHVR could address bully squad tactics without removing them. At least there's a base game perk to completely nullify flashlights.

Some wish to share things, bad or good, but then get twatwaffles that seemed to tinge and hate things, I mean why? trolling? no life? just to be a dick? maybe have a good word, helpful word or just stfu unless have something nice or positive to say, does it make these peeps sleep at night to spread or post the negative crap? Let us maybe strive for some positive thoughts, lets encourage people on their experienced and not verly be such dick heads in the process. There's a bunch of kids on the forum, and they look just like everyone else. Although they give themselves away with the hysterics and the insane levels of self-pity they show off.
They make everything seem more toxic than it is because of how loud they are. But they are a minority. They don't represent most of us.
Don't ask me about DbD on Twitter. I assume it's like most things on Twitter, garbage that's not worth even reading.
Maybe the forum could just add two threads, one for survivor complaints and another for killers. Sweep all the trash into those two threads, so the front page won't be flooded with so many negative threads.

the title says it all.
for more context, i'm a survivor main, but mainly only because of this reason: i'm scared to ######### up as a killer more than as a survivor...why? most of the time, it's those bully-swfs that make me feel like this the most. the feeling of disappointment after losing is just...real. how do i stop feeling like this? don't get me wrong, i actually enjoy playing the role of a killer but it's always the survivors that "scare" me most of the time.
Bully squads are so rare. Plus if you barely play killer you won't be at high enough MMR to likely cross paths with them. The only reason bully squads are effective is because there's four good players coordinating it. I mean, you're just as likely to meet a killer that will target and BM you. You never know what you're getting as survivor. It's a crapshoot.
Maybe it's just nerves. Playing killer is nothing like playing survivor. The roles feel completely different. Plus you have to multi-task a bunch of stuff. I usually go into matches and try to let the survivors know I'm not gonna sweat. Spamming Nurse's Anxious Gasp usually does the trick. Maybe try something similar. It could help relieve some of the pressure you are feeling as the survivors won't be bracing themselves for a bunch of hook camping and tunneling. So they will be more relaxed too.
btw BHVR, please reduce the rarity of Anxious Gasp. I want enough of it to use it every match. It's not OP and it's hilarious. Give me more Anxious Gasp, please. Thank you.

I'll be keeping an eye out for a suspect porkchop then 🐗👀

@Rapteriurz said:
I understand the situation where the last 2 survivors are alive, one kills himself to try and give the remaining survivor a hatch, that's fine.
But when a survivor gets knocked down only ONE time, they get hooked ONE time and killer doesn't even camp/patrol the area, I see survivors literally "trying" to escape at 5 gens and missing skillchecks on 2nd stage thus "legally" leaving the game without disconnecting.
In most games trolling and ruining matches on purpose by dieing a lot, giving enemy opponent/team kills for free and other griefing moments are reportable and can be considered as bannable offense.
If a survivor joined a match only to get downed 10 seconds into the game and instead of rage quitting they decide to rage kill themselves, that's same griefing and should be punishable because it's clear the dude decided to ruin the match for survivor's team at least.
There's a bunch of reasons why people do it. If someone is being abused on the hook, I don't blame them for trying to unhook. Nobody wants to sit through that for three minutes.
-
@Nun_So_Vile said:
Like y'all don't understand I will let a last surv out from time to time, but I rarely let them in on it. Even if I'm farming I like to rough them up some throughout the match just to keep them on their toes while I'm going for 12-hooks or whatever... Like, yeah I'm not going to kill you but YOU DONT KNOW THAT. So the Pig just standing there, watching you open gate warms a piece of me.
I'm assuming this is you then 🤣

The matchmaking started going south for me just before Alien released. Since then it's been completely inconsistent. I should not have to wait till most of the UK is asleep before the matchmaking works.
-
The matchmaking is so poor that the only time this game is playable for me as survivor is past midnight. Otherwise it's just baby survivor/killers everywhere. Bad killers just five gen hook camp/hard tunnel every match. It's garbage to play against.
-
I guess having a map gives survivors Detective's Lunch. That's kind of a fifth perk. The only problem is, ######### is a map? I don't know her.

I said it in another post already. so im gonna copy paste here:
"However. It is odd that the Xenomorph is nerfed this fast and made for this isn't despite an equal amount of people being upset.
On top of that: as killer I always play against survivors. They dont change. They don't have different power or abilities. Therefore I can always see made for this, resilience, Windows, adrenaline, lithe, sprint burst and the like on every survivor, every game.
As survivor you don't see the same killer every game, despite what some people say. Blight, Nurse and Huntress are 3 killers.
What do I do when I play Pig? Myers? Trapper? Wraith? Doctor?
I cant just switch to blight mid game and even the odds.
I would argue that survivor sees a bit more variety than killer does. Therefore the things that are unchanged sting a bit more. Killers see them every game. Survivors do not. For the most part.
If something is seen every game, players will be upset.
Just like with Xenomorph.
Again : I know where OP is coming from."
It was basicly about the same thing: killers complaining about mft not getting nerfed right now but Xenomorph getting nerfed. Its more about the when rather then the "is it coming at all".
I know it's technically a nerf, but the lack of slow down on missed tail attacks really did feel out of place, and was probably easier to modify (looking at the forums, it may have broken several things at the same time 👀). Reworking MFT into something less annoying would take longer.
I definitely think perks won't get changed if they are paid for and popular, right away. I don't think UW will be nerfed straight away. It's paid for and it's very popular. I'd wager it will get nerfed in a few months. But I could be wrong on that.
-
I taught a baby Pig how to boop a snoot. It took the entire match but they finally crouched for the boop. It's like swimming with dolphins. The moment will forever be etched into my memory as one of the the proudest moments of my life.
https://youtu.be/qf0GI3OnpdII did plead for my teammate's safety, but Madam Pokers demanded three deaths 💀
-
Xeno still feels really strong. You can still wreck survivors at loops, but missing with the tail now give the survivor some room to get away when it misses. It's now more mind game dependent, which makes it more fun to engage with. Similar to Nemesis' *****. I wish BHVR hadn't made that change between the PTB and live. In hindsight it was going to be an issue. Xeno having Nemesis' *****, with no need to level it up, and with a much smaller penalty for missing just seems like a bad design choice.
I kind of feel bad for Nemesis, as Alien feels similar but better in almost every way. At least he has Bert and Martha, or whatever they're called.
I feel like Xeno is kind of perfect now. Other than the bug, of course.
-
The game will keep going, because when it's good, it's really ******* good. The casual/solo queue experience is where the biggest problem lies. The game just isn't built for them. It's absurd you need to dedicate even 100 hours to really understand how to play.
My survivor MMR dropped really low in the last few weeks, so I've seen what casual players experience constantly. It's not fun. Killers are completely overwhelmed, as they don't have a clue how to do anything other than hook survivors. They rely on the most obvious thing, camp the hook. The match falls apart for the survivors as they don't know what to do. Killer gets propelled up the MMR ladder where they get annihilated by more experienced survivors. The survivors stay at low MMR, where they encounter the same sorts of killers. It's a miserable experience.
I've got my MMR back up, and now I'm back playing against experienced killers and it's a blast. They get their hooks consistently so they never feel the need to camp. They will even meme and give hatch. You get hatchets only Huntress, Nurse running Anxious Gasp, Pigs that will let you boop. All the best experiences for survivors are barred to most players, as it's too much of a grind to get to a skill level where you meet killers who don't need to rely on five gen hook camping or hard tunneling to win a match.
I wish BHVR could find a way to ease the growing pains of survivors, so the playerbase overall could be more stable and healthy. I've tried to get friends into the game, but their survivor experience is so miserable that they stop after a few games. I wish they could experience the best parts of the game like I'm able to.
Killers need help at the higher end of MMR. There are ways to deal with it. If tunneling and hook camping are dealt with, then there's no reason why killers couldn't get basekit buffs to help them deal with things like chain blinds or chain stuns. If the three gen problem is fixed, then there's no reason toolboxes couldn't receive a nerf.

Its a good thing only 3 killers are viable at my mmr, otherwise i'd have to learn to play against so many different ones!

@Thusly_Boned said:
People playing any kind of game would prefer to win. This is something as old as humanity and isn't going to change.
But having some awareness of the game you are playing and not allowing winning v. losing to define your experience is vital to enjoyment. Especially in a game not designed in a way where outcomes or clear, or really to support intense competition.
One thing I hear a lot is "I wouldn't care as much if killers/survs/whoever weren't so..." - this is BS rationalization. If how someone else plays the game dictates your values, that's a you problem, and blaming others is a cop out.
I am someone who in my younger years had a reputation for being so ruthlessly competitive, even in things I wasn't great at, that my own friends wouldn't play games with me. I wasn't a poor sportsman, I didn't taunt or gloat, I just engaged in anything remotely competitive with intensity, and I didn't play anything casually. I was not fun to play with.
One of my points of greatest personal growth is letting much of that go, because it led me to have a miserable time doing things I should have loved. DBD is a great example of this; it's simply a game so ill-suited to equivalent, balanced competition that putting a premium on "winning" turns fun into misery, for one side or the other, and often both.
Don't get me wrong, I do not want to lose at anything and there are still arenas where I am intensely competitive, but it just doesn't make sense in this game, if you want to really enjoy it. I have the most fun playing DBD when I don't allow myself to get heavily invested in the outcome.
I just wish more people were more selective about where they indulged their competitive bloodlust, because DBD isn't a great place for it.
If I go to someone's stream, I basically treat it like I'm walking into their house. I check my manners and try to not be negative unless the situation really calls for it. It's not my space so I treat it with additional care. Always online people rarely check themselves. They treat community spaces like their own, they discard their crap on the floor and expect everyone else to work around their bad attitude. But I have no idea how to fix that.
