Anxious Gasp being base kit would be so fun!! That's a fun idea that isn't too broken/overpowered but definitely elevates her creep factor.
I'm just sick of running out of it 😆

I feel like if the survivors get the gates powered, the killer should be forced to guess which gate to check and commit to it. Survivors are meant to be empowered when the gens are done. Being able to consistently patrol the gates shouldn't be a thing.

Just because something is "the norm" doesn't mean its okay or balanced.
The fact that killer can be put into an auto-loss situation just because of map RNG+spawn RNG is fundamentally unhealthy.
If BHVR considers that fixing the spawns is too much work, then putting 30s of basekit corrupt is the second best option to adress the survivors spawning 3-4 gens from the get go.
Hearing 2-3 gens pop while you're literally walking from your spawn area to the survivor spawn area to *try to find them* is one of the most unmotivating experiences in DBD.
It does suck losing two or three gens fast. It feels like most of the match seems to revolve around the last three generators. It's really rough if that momentum continues, but in most of my matches I find the momentum really slows down after two gens have popped. Two gens feel free as survivor. Only solo queue matchmaking results in a 4K before two gens are completed.
-
This seems fair. It's a nerf Pig moment, but it is annoying that screams can interrupt any action. Beginning the vault animation and then screaming is the thing that annoys me. I feel like if I'm already climbing through the window, I shouldn't teleport backwards and stand about screaming. At worst I should fall through the window and land flat on my face, screaming the whole time.
-
Myers: Add a toned down version of Scratch Mirror's aura reading to his basekit.
If you want to be generous, give him the ability to sacrifice a small amount of his time in tier three to remove his terror radius. Rework his insta-kill add-ons to be balanced around his new strengths.
Freddy: Freddy can now teleport to his Snares. Dream Pallets when dropped, leave the survivor blind and oblivious.
Nurse: Anxious Gasp becomes basekit.
Hag: Hag goes on vacation and never comes back.
Pig: Faster movment speed when in stealth. I've always wanted to see a Pig ice-skating.
-
I'm fine with them nerfing toolboxes, and I assume it's gonna happen at some point. I just wish there was some way to bridge the gap between matches where gens go by really fast, and the matches where they go slow as hell. But that's an issue of matchmaking, or just down to the times where players go AFK (I assume and hope it's due to some emergency bathroom break).
-
I always try to spread my hooks so I keep everyone in the game as long as possible. I go for the full twelve hooks and so avoid tunneling. I just want to have a fun game with survivors, the same as I want with killers when I play survivor. I'm either playing Nurse, where I can win if I don't screw up too much, or Ghostface, where I'm just memeing around. So either way I don't feel a need to sweat.
I guess I just try to be the killer that I would want to meet in a match.
Sometimes I hook someone a second time, not realising they went to second on their first hook.
-
One-Blink Nurse is never going to happen. You need to ask for something else.

Why would they do anything to gen times? They added 10 seconds to them a few patches ago. Any more and survivors will start whining (I say as if they didn't throw a fit over those 10 seconds), and they can't have that, so, no, gens will continue to fly, but don't you worry, on top of making sure you're punished as a killer if you're ever in the same zipcode as a hooked survivor, the devs are going to kill 3-genning to make sure you absolutely cannot pressure survivors anymore than you already can. That's what you actually want right?
In all fairness, you are a prolific whiner. You never stop complaining about survivors. If you are unaware of how much you complain, just go look at your own comment history. I'm not even close to joking, it's a constant stream of complaints and bitterness. I scrolled down a long way and didn't see a single positive comment.
Complain as much as you want, but don't accuse other people of whining, when that's literally all you do.

3 gen is said to be reworked soon, so I think that would not matter. Also, I think that doing totems should keep the progress if you leave it very much like chests. This would prevent issues with over protection of totems!
It could work if they fix the three gen issue.
-
Wouldn't that mean you could place your hex totems next to a three gen? It could make camping your hex too easy.
-
Couldn't we just have systems that limit camping and tunneling early game? It doesn't really feel like an issue mid-to-late game. Having something for early game just gives survivors a chance to participate in the match without getting singled out and removed early on.

You can nerf things that nerf high level survivors without hurting low level players.
Trickle Down Balance.
This video explains it perfectly, i timestamped the part where he talks about the B.A.S.E. Jumper item in TF2. Granted the video is about TF2, but the concept remains the same. It is a great video though, so if you have 10 minutes, i'd suggest watching the whole thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1p42KtZOCw&t=203s
Not saying this is what should be done, but in DBD for example, look at killer shack. In the hands of a high level survivor player, they are able to waste so much of a killer's time at shack. But what about low level survivors? They are probably pre-dropping the pallet and still getting hit anyway. So what if you nerf shack? Well. Now it it won't be as powerful in the hands of those high skill survivors, but low skill/average survivors won't be effected, because they aren't using shack that way anyway, they are busy predropping it, going down 3 seconds later, and then DCing anyway.
BHVR actually did this at one point in the past, in the greatest balance decision they have ever made. And that was the change they made to Hex: Ruin. Old Ruin used to be this:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FQ9FE1SX2Q04/image.png
Then in patch 3.5.0 they changed it to this:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5GVAK5U1CZXO/image.png
This was the single greatest balance decision that BHVR has ever made. The OLD Hex: Ruin was EXTREMELY punishing to "average" survivors. Because they can barely hit regular skill checks as it is (i remember, because at the time i was one of them). Forget about hitting great skill checks consistently. Then on top of that, they are forced to cleanse this totem, and "average" players are going to have a hard time doing that reliably. It led to a meta of "gen tapping" where people would spam m1, so they wouldn't get skill checks.
Basically, the old version was HORRIBLE for low skill and average players. But against high level survivors, they are able to hit great skill checks in their sleep, and on top of that, they know totem spawn locations very well, making it so, even if they did need to cleanse it, they would be able to within 45-60 seconds of the match starting.
The change they made, made it so that it was weaker in low level play, but more powerful in high level play where a killer would be able to pressure multiple survivors and use their knowledge and skills to do so.
They can do the same thing with survivors in many different places.
That parachute dancing was hilarious. I never played TF2 but it does look fun.
Whilst I think balance is horrible to implement when it takes hundreds of hours to become decent at the game, there are definitely ways to sand off some sharp edges, that won't hit average survivors too hard. It feels like the maps are the worst offenders.

i cannot emphasise enough: this is still a long long way away.
Like please do not go “when is myers rework???”
this could easily go into year 9. Hell, it most certainly will.
It could take a while if they try to completely rework him. I'm hoping they just modify his existing kit.
I'm guessing he's going to get some basekit improvements coupled with nerfs to his more extreme add-ons. I wonder if he would be better if he got a toned version of scratch mirror's aura reading incorporating into his basekit. It would seriously amplify his stealth potential whilst keeping him as a strictly stealth killer. I don't want rush-down Myers unless he has a chainsaw.
-
I feel like they should have reworked some of her stronger condemned add-ons. If she gets easier global condemned, she probably shouldn't have access to them. There's already a downside to holding a tape, as it stops you from limiting her teleports back to a hook or a gen. They shouldn't be any more of a pain to get rid of than her basekit allows.

If this was just a joke: nvm.
It's probably just someone stretching the meaning of bullying to include winning easily.

Word to the wise: don't rely on it to the point where you lose game sense. I've been using Calm Spirit and I'm literally having killers pass by me next to gens or even just standing there in full view of them. If I lose chase they'll just open a locker then leave the area when they don't hear a scream. I'm just behind the wall next to them. I remember similar situations with Nowhere to Hide during the gen kick era. I'd have Distortion and be repairing a gen and hear the killer coming, so I'd just let go and stay crouched next to the gen while they kicked it on the other side, then they'd just turn and leave when they'd see no aura. Rinse and repeat until the gen had popped.
Yeah, this is definitely a problem that inexperienced Doctor players have. If you run CS, they will blitz right past you, as they are just autopiloting with the static blast. They won't even notice your portrait change.
-
It's definitely weak compared to some other exhaution perks. You get two uses, and a lot of the time unless you can guess exactly when the killer will attack, it's kind of useless. You can beat lunges, Nurse's blink ect consistently, but it isn't as consistent or reusable as other exhaution perks.
It could have been a great anti-tunnel perk, but it's unusable if you get put into deep wound, so it's use off the hook is limited.
Hopefully they find some way to improve it, but it won't ever go back to what it was. The perk kind of needs to stay dead.

Would more BP help balance it out? It's probably gonna suck either way.

Ok, then the SWF Bloodpoints are obtained in secret and awarded monthly.
The killer will receive all of them for all matches played during the season on the 13th of every month with rank reset BP.
I play both sides by the way. 60% Survivor I'd estimate. I really do think that this is fair.
Fair in the sense of what? What are you being compensated for? Having a harder match? Some SWF matches are easier than against solo queue. I'm not sure what the additional BP is meant to compensate for.
Edit: Okay, I can see you have another thread about getting beat up by a SWF. So is the BP bonus to compensate for the challenge of the match? It does suck to get wiped out and gain very little BP, for either role.
-
@CountOfTheFog said:
After facing a SWF, the killer should earn additional bloodpoints, just like a matchmaking incentive but they won't know until the match is over to avoid lobby dodging SWF groups.
For a 2 player SWF an extra 50%
For a 3 player SWF an extra 75%
For a 4 player SWF an extra 100%
This will be in addition to the regular matchmaking incentive, should it be on Killer side at the time of the match.
But it would let you know so you could dodge them the next time. Besides, most SWF are not that bad. The majority are just average skilled friends playing together.

so i reckon i fit into your third category
also people who pick certain survs for "gameplay advantages" are weird, but whatever makes you confident i guess
i do feel that female models are less janky and its easier to moonwalk though

also maybe this
i'd play a little gremlin
i'd like an old hunchback creature as a survivor also
The gays stan a strong independent woman. Let's go Haddie!
I definitely get the cosmetic side for female characters. I grew up playing fighting games from the PS1/Sega Saturn era, and there was always more creativity with the female characters than with the males. This also extended to their movesets, as males were often just boxing essentially, whilst the female characters were doing backflips and all kinds of interesting things. Their designs were over-sexualised, but there was more creativity than most of the male charaters. Taki in Soul Calibur is over-sexualised but she has a much more interesting style and moveset than say Mitsurugi.
Of course if you're a gay guy, you can just appreciate the creativity and ignore the sexualisation. Ivy in Soul Calibur is definitely super sexy, but who cares when she has a sword that turns into a whip!
-
I've only ever met three cheaters in the two years I've been playing on console, so I've been lucky.
I've only ever met one cheater that I sort of liked in any game I've played and that was here in DbD. They kidnapped me and took me to the top of a building so I could see the entire map, it was actually kind of cool. They were using their BS to show survivors things in the map they would never be able to see otherwise. It was a very emotionally confusing match lmao
-
There's definitely a huge difference for certain killers between when they run common add-ons and when they run the best. It spices up gameplay but creates balancing problems.
How do you buff Myers when he has access to Tombstone Piece? You can't really. Especially when BHVR measures killer balancing based on kill rates. The best they can do is make the best add-ons extremely rare, so the killer isn't busted in every match they play. If I had the choice, I'd rather his more extreme add-ons were toned down and his basekit was made better to compensate.

- Why does garden of joy window still exist?
- Why hasn't badham been nerfed?
- Why is MFT still not nerfed?
- Why is buckle up + FTP still a thing
- Why are they gutting skull merchant to be completely useless despite the fact that 3gen is beatable, and they could have simply fixed it by taking the "while working a gen drones don't affect you" part and just made that as part of the currently live kit?
- Why did they nerf alien tail attack even though alien is objectively weaker than blight and nurse and neither of them have been touched?
- Why do they STILL not have something in place to deal with the fact that SWF using discord get literally, and i mean literally i counted, 90+ perks for free, and many other things that aren't perks?
- Why are tournaments such a joke that only 2 killers are viable in them?
- Why are tournament such a joke that the only way they become playable is by:
- Creating some kind of "point system" that isn't about escapes vs kills so that killers stand a chance
- Hindering survivors in some way by preventing them from bringing duplicate perks or items, or locking down addons to a certain level?
- Why is it this community for some reason thinks that this is the only multiplayer game in existence where you can't balance around the top level
- Why is it that the game, despite being in its "most balanced state ever" is still extremely survivor sided at the top level
- Why is it that the devs continue to ignore killers like trapper because "won't someone think of the new players"
I agree with you on almost all of this.
The two that I kind of disagree with is your SM take and why is the game still survivor sided at high level.
SM three gen is not beatable by most players. It was a boring, insurmountable wall for most teams, so it had to be changed.
The game will always be survivor sided at the highest level, as the difference between the highest level survivors and the average survivor is too vast. That's the fault of the game, requiring too much of a time investment to get past the skill floor. Nerfing survivor tools hits the average player too hard, and giving SWF players de-buffs doesn't account for skill level, as SWF is just friends playing together, with or without VC. Not to mention it is a bad look to punish players for playing with friends. I think if BHVR found some way to bridge the gap between the highest level and casual players, balance would be easier to achieve.
-
@WilliamSN said:
The issue isn't bloodpoints,(killer can make anywhere from 60-80k BP regularly just with a single bp offering) its how innefective the strategy is.
A survivor that gets put on death hook early on is more likely to waste pallets aswell as play more passively troughout the entire trial, essentially reducing survivor effectiveness from 4 to 3.5.
A better solution would be to make certain perk effects like grim embrace basekit in order to encourage multi-hooking, Maybe give killer a basekit version of alien instinct so he has a far away target to chase.
My point is there's multiple ways to encourage multi-hooking, but BP bonuses ain't it.
I could vaguely imagine a system which makes tunneling a pure losing strategy up until a certain point in the match. A cut off point being something like achieving three or four unique hooks or survivors completing two or three gens. In exchange, the killer gets buffs that make it substantially easier to locate new survivors, down and hook them faster.
But it would have the potential for causing a lot of issues with the game, so something like that would have to be implemented very carefully. Not to mention the kind of backlash that happens any time substantial changes are made to the game.
-
I don't think it would have any effect on tunneling. Players tunnel to win, not to maximize their BP.
If you wanted something to stop tunneling at five gens, you would need a mechanic that actually stopped the killer from doing it. The allure of BP isn't going to fix that.
-
I almost exclusively play females in fightings games, as they tend to have the most interesting movesets. Someone like Sindel in Mortal Kombat, is much more interesting to me than say Scorpion or Sub-Zero. In Tekken, I prefer to play Xiaoyu rather than someone like Jin.
In DbD, I just choose characters that either look cool, can blend into a bush well, or are reasonably quiet when injured (Sorry Feng).
-
I don't know how you nerf her out of the number one spot without touching her blinks. If the blinks are changed, players who have put large amounts of time into playing her get screwed over. But tweaking her outside of her blinks doesn't really impact her strength.
I still think the best thing BHVR could do is to make it harder for her to track a survivor she has just hit. Something like adding scratch blindness after fatigue, so she can't easily follow and down the survivor immediately. BHVR doesn't seem interested in changing her blinks, so people should ask for other changes.
-

DBD has been playing safe with development since release 7 years ago. The gameplay loop is still the same and changes have not been monumental but rather smaller and incremental (like totems , endgame collapse etc).
So since I doubt that devs would dare risk it and add a major feature like a new game mode or something big, what would you wish that they add to the game without changing things too much ? What new feature could add more depth to dbd gameplay during the trial ? Maybe some random events that could give either side a chance and make both sides adapt to it ?
Post your ideas below.
Honestly, as much as I'd like BHVR to add some new mechanics to freshen up the gameplay, I think that the game is already deep enough that the skill floor for the game is too high for the average casual player.
If something could be added safely, I would probably add a gen mechanic. Gens are the most boring part of the game.

This game was born a live service and will end as one. Gens get boring. It’s best to focus on what most Survivors love most, styling on Killers. Being styled on as Killer doesn’t feel good, hence why AI Killers are a better option. I believe this proposition will be beneficial for the game and bring it to the next level.
Maybe players could work on getting outplayed and not malding about it? Mind gaming a bot doesn't really mean much as it either lets you win or it doesn't. You never really outplay a bot.

You can't criticise players for having one sided mentalities when you're making a point about how challenging it is to play killer whilst saying that survivors are basically ez mode that don't even need perks. You're doing the exact same thing that you're criticising.

If I use these add-ons on a teammate in SoloQ, how will they know that I used it on them?
I'm not sure. I don't usually bring items into the trial with me, so the only time I used one was when I found one on the ground. I didn't know what it did, so I used it on a teammate thinking it would heal them. Instead I just wasted the medkit and the survivor looked unimpressed.
It might give them an endurance icon on their screen whilst it is active, but I couldn't say for certain.
-

What exactly is the point of this? If it consumes the med-kit on use, then how can you possibly finish healing yourself or your teammate?

As Raconteurminator stated, if the killer finds you mid heal, you can pop the styptic to gain endurance for five seconds and if the killer attacks you within those five seconds, you will tank the hit and won't go down. This will leave you in deep wounds and will completely consume your medkit.

Yes. Heaven forbid Killers try to win at the start. That's something only Survivors can do, what with bringing up to 16 genrush perks, plus toolboxes, plus add-ons, plus SWF, plus last-minute switching in the lobby to negate Killer's seeing them set up, plus getting on gens ASAP.
But a Killer camping!? HOW DARE THEY! Winning is for Survivors ONLY!
Killers of all MMR and skill levels camp. It's not because survivors are rushing gens. Killers who are new/suck/have a bad attitude will do it from the start because they either want to grief a player or they just don't have the skill to win any other way.
Good killers players don't hook camp the first survivor they find because they don't need to, it's boring to do and they don't get triggered when they get outplayed.
Again, if bad killer players were not making casual play so miserable for survivors, we wouldn't need a mechanic.
God forbid casual survivors wanting to play a decent match instead of getting downed and camped out before they really got a chance to play.
Also, what's with the hysterics? I swear survivor players must be making smurf accounts to try and make killer players all sound like bratty seven year olds.

In solo queue there are moments that make me want to DC out of the match, but when I clip it to show a friend I end up laughing so hard as I rewatch it.

Ah yes. I, too, can't wait until yet more player agency is removed from Killers to appease Survivors!
Give it another two years, and Killers would be expected to get all 12 hooks; be unable to camp, tunnel, or slug at all; and they will be forced to let the 4th Survivor go. Because, as Survivors are fond of screaming at me: "Be happy with the 3K".
Funnily enough; Survivors are never expected to "Be happy with the 3E." THEY are expected to try to win. But Killers trying to win is 'sweaty' and 'toxic' and 'tryhard' and 'Why don't you just play to have fun instead of win?'. 🙃
If killers were only hook camping at mid to late game, there wouldn't be an anti-hook camping mechanic. It's only being added cos killers just do it to whoever they find first before any gens have been completed. Don't blame survivors, blame bad killer players for making hook camping such a problem that BHVR had to modify the game to try and alleviate it.

Hard survivor main. Has never once touched killer for more than a day. Forgets that the VAST majority of games are a two man swf at the least
Face camping is an issue, but completely ignoring the very easy, and free second chance perks that survivors get, that have zero counter play, isn't helpful
The current survivor meta is just hold W all chase, because they'll get away with it with their perks
No, I've played killer more than a day. I just disagree with you. Remember, just because you're all tribal over a computer game doesn't mean everyone else is. Don't project your feelings onto me.
Plenty of killer mains makes good points, but people like you don't. You just exaggerate how difficult how hard it is to play killer and pretend that survivor is ez mode.
-
Why do killer players keep making threads, suggesting that playing survivor requires limited skill and that the perks do most of the work for them? It's just disrespectful, regardless of how polite the language is.
Playing killer and survivor is not the same. Therefore they do not need the same restrictions. Does the killer have to account for one teammate being useless and throwing the entire match for them? No. Survivors have plenty of restrictions on them that the killer doesn't have to account for. The two roles are different, so you can't compare perk usage for them.
The best part is where you gave credit to face campers for their skills whilst ignoring all the intricacies of how a survivor match plays and pretending that everyone can just equip perks and win for free. Maybe you should do more than just dabble with survivor before you start making threads telling everyone how little skill it requires.
