  • Playing killer is overall better for me as I don't sweat and I don't have to account for any teammates that could screw up and cost us the match. So I can just have fun.

I still prefer the teamwork aspect of survivor, even if it's hard to achieve in solo queue.

The answer's pretty obvious. No. The devs have never, and will never care about the killer experience. They'll give survivors all the buffs that they can possibly want to make their games as easy as possible so that they can make the killer's game miserable, and then they'll have the audacity to come and post this, implying that killers playing to win are part of the problem.

Yes, you are a victim and nobody cares about you. Everyone else gets special treatment and you get forgotten. I couldn't possibly even begin to understand your suffering.

Calm spirit shuts down the doctor, and a whole bunch of perks. Adrenaline and made for this heal at no risk with the benefit of making you uncatchable.

Let's not forget flashlights and flashbangs in areas you can't counter them shutting down the act of picking people up.

Both sides have ways to make the game infuriating for the other, it's just you and your friends can do it against one guy while the other guy can only be rude to one at a time

If a killer and a survivor are at similar skill levels, at best, the survivor can be an annoyance. Without a strong SWF you can't actually start bullying a killer. But a killer can make it so a survivor doesn't need to hold their controller for minutes at a time. They might throw the game in the process but they can do that. The best part is that to tunnel and camp as killer requires limited skill, so any killer with a bad attitude can ruin a match for someone else if they feel like it.

You can't draw lines between the two roles as they are not the same. Face camping someone to death is not the same as running adrenaline. You think it is, but it's not. A killer can grief an individual survivor in ways the survivor cannot do back, unless the survivor is substantially better than the killer they are facing, and at that point they are just outplaying the killer.

  • I'm guessing BHVR has chosen to not release it?

  • @Khylwch said:

Camping was already a losing strategy used only by bad killers. If you camp a player then the rest of the team just blows through the gens leaving you with a loss. A 1k or at best a 2k. The only time most killers used camping was end of game which is still allowed, and when the players ran for the unhook before you could even start patrol. With the new system the killer gives a free deleiverance to the hooked player by face camping.....but also by being on another floor, patrolling gens, kicking pallets or gens and it is immediately exploited by survivors by using the area as a killer free zone.

Hook camping early game against solo queue players (the majority of survivors) is actually very effective. Not a losing strategy at all. Two flashlights and a brown toolbox with no add ons isn't going to destroy four or five gens. That doesn't even account for survivors giving you free hooks by being altruistic.

Just because one side receives more changes than the other in a patch, doesn't mean they require an equal attention patch

Killers have also been eating good lately with several perks becoming viable in recent times, several buffs to specific killers, and nerfs to the Survivor meta (mainly DH and medkits)

Yeah, I'm not sure why people expect something just cause the other side got something. Survivors and killers are not four year old siblings, and BHVR are not our parents. As far as I know.

  • It's a great perk that definitely helps new survivors get to know the maps. It's also great in solo queue, as you often take chase mid-match and have no idea what resources are left on the map. It's not a problematic perk though. But it's probably the best quality of life perk in the game.

  • You really can't make this **** up. At least I get to laugh when I edit the clips though.

    I blame Hag.

  • In the last couple of days, I have met two second prestige killers, one third prestige killer, one seventy-seventh prestige killer (it was Huntress and it was awesome), and the rest have been zero prestige. Guess how many pigs? Zero. I got so desperate I booped a Blight. MMR hell is withholding my bacon sandwiches.

  • The only thing I think is an issue with medkits is that if you miss one skill check you can't complete a heal. It's pretty punishing for new players or other survivors interacting with killer skill check modifiers.

Edit: You could probably give the better medkits a self healing speed boost and limit it so it doesn't have as much impact as before. I never really felt the healing speed of the medkits was the real issue. It always felt like the amount of heals you could get from one medkit, combined with the styptic. The styptic is still really good and the nerf to healing capacity was also good.

  • I don't care too much as survivor, as I don't bring items to the trial very often. But as killer I'm really picky. I buy every Anxious Gasp I can with Nurse as it's my favourite add-on.

  • Solo queue doesn't need VC. If you get a good team of survivors without an extremely weak link, you can do well. Experienced survivors can coordinate pretty well purely based on obervation. I'd go as far as saying that a good solo queue team should beat most of the killers in the game. Not accounting for survivor mistakes the create large snowballs for the killer. Solo queue struggles to make comebacks in many scenarios.

  • Wraith has always been the most consistently toxic killer I've met. Anytime I go to unhook someone, there he is, beating the **** out of them. I've met no other killer that is even close to being as unpleasant. It's so consistent that it's statistically bizzare. To be clear, the higher MMR Wraiths aren't too bad, it's very much the ones that suck. I think Wraith is just appealing to toxic players. He's a good combination of ease of use and strength. It's not like toxic players are usually good. Pretty much all of them suck.

    @Nos37 said:

90% of the Wraiths I play against have a bugged perk slot that only has H:NOED equipped and cannot be changed. These Wraith players just take advantage of it. Even if the survivors manage to rush gens while Wraith's busy tunneling, NOED gives them more for free in the endgame.

This playstyle doesn't work against the strongest players (coordinated SWF); it just destroys the weakest players (soloq).

    NOED you say?

This is what happens in so many solo queue matches. Everything just falls apart and you never recover from it. Did we get any more gens done after that? No. Did the killer get a 4k? Yes. I feel like a nanny in most of my matches.

I'd say it's possible but would just take longer to build playing solo than it would playing swf.

I really wish BHVR would judge us more individually. If I'm getting judged because I can't keep my three potatoes on life-support whilst running the killer and doing the gens, then I call BS. If I'm getting a bunch of BP and everyone else is dying, then I'm clearly not just sitting in a corner and waiting for everyone to die.

  • @Ayodam said:

I always wonder where those killer mains who complain ad nauseam about how โ€˜OPโ€™ survivors are when threads like this pop up. They say jack all about this very common phenomenon youโ€™re facing, OP. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

Some killers will win a hundred solo queue matches and lose to one SWF, and the only thing they will remember is that one loss. I find veteran killer players are pretty realistic about how bad solo queue survivor can be. Killers should definitely want solo queue to be better, so they get more fun matches. I'm glad I play survivor, so when I play killer I can recognise when a 'solo queue' moment happens and give the survivors a bit of breathing room.

As long as killers aren't actively pushing back against solo queue improvements I can live with them not caring about the problems solo queue survivors face. The hysteria over the HUD and the Visual TR though, that was honestly kind of gross. Killers threatening to leave the game if deaf players got an accessibility option? I don't care if there could be some sort of advantage for survivors in general. Let deaf people have their visual heartbeat. Don't just threaten to quit. It was unbelievably gross how many killers acted. I should say that I didn't see any veteran killer players behaving like that though, only the ones that sound really young when they communicate, so mostly just self-centred kids with bad priorities.

  • Can you build high MMR through playing solo queue, or do you need a SWF for that?

I've always wondered if solo queue survivors get judged as harshly as survivors in SWF. The escape rate for solo queue must be pretty rough.

  • Sometimes it's the best thing you can do. Other times you're just being a pain.

Then what should you do then?

If you go into a match assuming everyone is gonna be a dick, then you won't have any fun matches. Even when you meet a fun group of people, you won't be able to appreciate it cos you'll be in a foul mood. Sometimes I try to meme with a killer and then they face camp me to death. Sometimes you extend a hand to someone, and in return they slap you in the face. That's just part of life. I can recognise a non-sweaty killer pretty easily at five-hundred hours, and will even lay off gens if things are going too fast so I can engage in some looping. I'm sure other survivors can also tell and will not be toxic in response.

To cheer you up, I will leave you with a couple of inspirational quotes:

I don't know if it's because I play on console, because he's relatively new, or because I'm just bad, but I cant hit dick with xeno's tail. Either the hitbox clips the wall, or it goes straight through the survivor without registering, and what's worse is its far too punishing in my opinion. I'm fine with them reducing the movement speed after using the tail, that's fine, but it takes 5 god damn years to re charge and in that time the survivors can vault three pallets, teabag you, and have a nice vacation in Portugal before you can do anything again.

So with the terrible hitbox that means I can only hit dead on with the tail, combined with the heavy penalty for missing, means that what keeps happening is I go for a tail attack, miss, and can't even try again before they make it to the next loop. either you need to make the tails hitbox better and more generous, so that when you go for a tail attack it's easier to land, or make it so that you can use it more frequently so that when you miss you get another go, sort of like tricksters knifes where you'll probably miss a bunch but you can throw them fast enough to where you can land some hits.

Or alternatively if you made it like Nemi's tentacle where if it hits into a wall you can still drag it as that would solve the issue of me hitting the frames of windows or a random bush.

maybe I'm just bad though, so I wanted to ask you guys, especially other console players, do you struggle this much or am I just trash๐Ÿ˜‚

In all fariness, a dick shot with the tail is extremely difficult to land in most situations, and completely impossible against some survivors.

  • @Felgoose said:

You're not meant to be matched only with survivors at your skill level. Matching with a balanced skill level teammate widens the available skill level of killers you can face in a random que. If you're higher skilled than the killer, you can be paired with someone lower skill level than the killer and it becomes a decently fair match.

I feel kind of adressed, when I read this. I am sorry for these guys. I just started playing DBD again when Alien Chapter came out and I often see myself in matches with mates who are far better in chases than me. I am often the Survivor who can't stand 30 seconds of a chase, while there are sometimes mates who are in a chase with the killer for minutes!

So i want to say sorry for that ๐Ÿ˜‚ believe me, if I had to decide, I would prefer not to be my team mates burden. (though not feeling sorry for them if they mock me after game for being "n00b", "baby" or whatsoever).

But as said, still on the other hand even I get matches with surv mates even worse than me. Lottery.

    @BubbaDredge said:

Here's the thing, the MMR tries to put us all against players with similar win-rates or whatever, but it's also very concerned about wait times. Players that are waiting a while start becoming a priority, so matches just get matched regardless of experience.

I get the same thing, I'm getting lots and lots of brand new players mixed in, especially since Xeno. New players pouring in, we vets have to just do our duty.

Used to just be completely random, I don't know what's better.

The problem is that survivors need to work as a team or else you just have to let everyone else die and go for hatch, which feels like a rotten way to play. I wouldn't mind some matches where there's baby survivors, but it can be every match I play in a session. Having ten matches in a row where the gates never get powered because you have new players on your team gets very frustrating. I can't even run the killer to help my weak teammates, because I'll run out of resources before they get the gens done. That's if the killer doesn't just leave me and go down one of the babies in about ten seconds flat.

Short version: I don't mind the randomness of matchmaking, but it's given me entire sessions for three weeks straight where I can't win a match without the hatch, which sucks.

I really don't care about being high MMR. Low MMR survivors are one thing, but the worst thing is playing against low MMR killers. I hate it. I have never had a fun match against a new killer player. They are too stressed out to have fun, and if I realise that someone I am playing with is getting angry or upset, it ruins any sense of fun the match has. That's why I get so frustrated when I see my teammates gets hooked at five gens and just gets bullied on the hook. I'm not having fun if I can clearly see someone else is miserable. The only consistent way I have found to avoid these situations is to be paired up against strong killers. They won't get angry if you loop them for over a minute. They don't camp or hard tunnel survivors out of the match at five gens. The matchmaking has denied me all of the best parts of this game for three weeks straight and I am tired of it.

Short version: I want fun games and that's one-hundred percent impossible against low level killers. I am playing well according to the metrics of the game, so stop giving me killers that don't even know how to break a pallet.

Also, cheers for the constructive feedback. Much appreciated.

Not to say there is none, but what control does killer have at this point that is not desired/called for by some survivors to be heavily regulated or limited?

Choice of target: some survivor suggest that killers not be capable of repeatedly targeting the weak link or even the most problematic survivor. As it stands, this choice is already being influenced by the endurance status granted by several perks for various situation and (however effective or not) base bt discouraging the killer.

How many killers would continue to play if forced to take what is currently the least beneficial option?

Choice of action: this one is already fairly limited in option and I mean in reference to killing survivors. What are our options; hooks, mori, and bleedout. In most cases the choice comes down to attempting hooks for a stage 3 payoff or counting on poor survivor performance and bad team altruism for bleedouts. The mori was already changed for survivor benefit and many would like to see something similar for bleedouts despite it being an altruism issue.

Is there really any choice between hooks or failed altruism which can be consitantly applied?

The only issue I have with the game's balance is that if a killer wants to, they can make it so you don't actually need to hold your controller for most of the match. That's really bad game design. Especially when the game isn't meant to be ultra competitive. It's not like the game rewards the survivor for sticking it out whilst other survivors do gens and escape. You spend three minutes bored out of your mind, die, and then the game calls you trash, give you next to no BP and then lowers your MMR as a final insult.

Making camping and tunneling harder is healthy for the game. But the killer win condition needs to be revised. Twelve hooks is a tall order, unless you're against an average solo queue lobby that does one gen every ten minutes or so.

I'd happily give up a hook state, just to see camping and tunneling go away.

The majority of low MMR survivors are stuck dealing with hook camping constantly, as bad killers usually do absolutely nothing else, by default. They don't get forced into it, they just do it to the first survivor they meet at five gens. If this makes playing survivor more fun for casuals/new players then it will be beneficial for maintaining more of the casual survivors that get turned off by all the hook camping that infests lower MMR.
