There are a few perks that could become basekit for killer.
Shattered Hope is the easiest one. Although it would be nice if it was paired with a buff to the boon perks, as they suck pretty hard.
Spirit Fury seems like one that could be good as a QoL change.
Maybe a nerfed version of Lethal Pursuer that gives you say four or five seconds of aura reading at the start of the match instead of nine seconds.
-
I'm all for some sort of basekit mechanic to limit tunneling, but the killer win condition needs to be revisited if that happens. Expecting twelve unique hooks out of most of the killer roster is unreasonable. Even in solo queue, where killers win most of their matches, the killer usually only wins because something goes wrong on the survivor side and that creates a snowball that solo queue can't overcome due to a lack of coordination or other factors.
BHVR needs to rework the game in a fundamental way that makes it the worst option for a killer to tunnel instead of the current system where it is the most effective way to win. But survivors need to be ready for a trade, as something like that won't be free. That means killers will need improvements to stack their odds at downing the other survivors. Meaning things like haste, killer instinct (to bypass Distortion), reduced stuns from pallets when chasing survivors other than the one you just hooked, ect.
-
You want basekit Matchbox Nurse? People still don't realise just how nasty that loadout is. Let's keep it that way.

Why are you calling them killer-bots? Are you pretending that killer players aren't real people?
Killers are real people. I met one shortly after he had escaped from a castle along with his pet donkey.
-
It would be great if the mechanic worked at higher levels of play, but maybe it's enough that it just stops new killer players from face camping. That alone will make playing survivor more fun for people just getting into the game, as face camping happens in the majority of matches that has a killer who is fresh to the game.

That was a close match!
This still looks better than the average solo queue matchmaking 👍️

Meeting a toxic player is just that. You met a toxic player. I'm not sure why it's a question of killer automony. People get upset when they lose and blame ANYTHING they can identify as a justification for that. It's as simple as that. It's got nothing to do with killers not being able to play the game. You met a player who had a bad attitude and they were going to criticize you for something. The head shake was just the simplest thing they could use to justify their outburst.
I once played against someone on a fighting game, and they gave me crap for doing combos. Not like an infinite, just basic combos. Like I said, the subject of critique doesn't matter, as it was coming as soon as you outplayed them regardless of what you did. I encountered an idiot and I quickly brushed it off. You should do the same when you encounter these kinds of people.
-
I've never been a fan of comparing killers to survivors when it comes to perks, as the roles are completely different. I think we're better off improving killer perks so they are effective when synergized with as many different killer powers as possible, rather than asking for buffs so the perk has activation requirements that are parallel to survivors.

It would definitely add atmosphere to the maps. I'd still like heavy rain that can impact your ability to see and hear clearly for brief periods of time. There are ways to include things like lightning without them being problematic for people with sensory problems. Placing them in the background, so they have minimal impact on the lighting in the map and having large intervals between them is just one way to accomodate those with specific needs.
-
If going for the 4% wasn't an option, my guess is survivors would just go AFK or throw themselves at the killer till they were dead. Ideally you want a survivor who have given up to just DC, that way survivors get a bot and the match can continue. That's pretty much the best outcome after someone has given up.

This is actually the only thing that will ever close the gap between solo and swf.
You could enable in-game chat right now and solo queue would still be a mess. Having VC won't make your teammates suck less and it doesn't mean they won't throw the match doing personal objectives or just go AFK when they get hooked for the first time.
Solo queue doesn't need VC. A solo team with four solid survivors can win against a solid killer. The problem is that you potentially need hundreds of hours to get good at this game. Closing the gap between high-level SWF and the average solo queue team requires getting survivors past the game's obnoxiously high skill floor. The transition from absolute noob to competent shouldn't take as long as it does. How you fix that, I don't honestly know. Better tutorials could help, but it would likely only achieve so much.

Wouldn't it be great if they made all the killers viable at high levels and then allowed solo queue to actually communicate with each other? Would be so much better for everyone.
That would be great. But I have no clue you get to that point when most casual players can't even get past the game's skill floor. Sanding off the game's rough edges won't compensate for that.

Would a game that was designed to be a party game release without any way of playing with your friends and not actually release said feature until after months and months of complaining and begging for it?
Here's a better question. I think most people here would agree that mario party or mario kart are "party games"
So, do you think that Mario Party or Mario Kart match you using MMR against people "of your skill level" Or do you think that they probably just throw you into a match with the first people it can find?
I'd say that BHVR not wanting VC indicates that they wanted the game to not involve communication, therefore maximizing the chaos and randomness in each match. That doesn't sound very competitive to me. Their refusal to add in-game VC reinforces that belief.
I couldn't comment on Mario Kart's matchmaking. I don't play it. My guess is it just chooses players that are geographically near to you, as their games have trash online.

The problem is that you're trying to enforce the narrative where fun can't be competition and this should apply to everyone. In every game where there's a "verus" you have to expect there will be people tryin hard to win. To me competition IS fun
But my friend we're both right, the issue is to have only one single mode and we're both forced to play in the only mode we have so there are players like you who want a fun and casual relaxing match and people like me who want to have a fun and hard sweaty game and that's the problem. It's like going to a chess tournament where pro players and regual players are put togheter, what do you think it will happen ?
What we should ask is a "ranked mode" ( or tournament mode or championship mode ) and a "unranked mode" ( or training ground or fun mode ) so you can play in your enviroment and i can play in my enviroment but, as long only one game mode exist, we have to play as we prefer because, by design, is what they want
I'm not trying to enforce a narrative. I'm just adding my thoughts to a pool of other thoughts. I'm not telling anyone how they should feel, I'm simply offering my views so other people have the option to at least consider a different perspective.
I get that fun is subjective. So I would never bother arguing on an individual basis as there's nothing to argue when it comes to personal taste. When I speak about how I think the game should change, I'm looking at the game as a whole. The game could make changes that make it more fun for more casual players whilst maintaining a competitive identify. It's not impossible to engineer that.
If the solution is to simply make it impossible for killers to tunnel without changing the game in other ways to compensate, then no, it would be a bad idea. It's currently necessary in many situations. But if I was offered a deal (this is off the top of my head and not that well thought out) where I permanently gave up a hook state in exchange for hard tunneling early in the match to go (imagining a world where that cannot be exploited in any way), I'd probably take it. It would be healthier for the game, as casual survivors would have a better chance at maximizing their contribution to the match, and killers wouldn't need to sweat so hard to reach twelve hooks as they would only need nine. That's as objective as I can be with my perspective. Just focusing on the game's overall health and playability.
-
Honestly, if BHVR had just tried a basekit unbreakable with a single use, it probably would have been fine. It would make survivor stronger, but not enough that killer couldn't be improved to compensate. I have no idea why they tried giving survivors map wide Exponential that lasted the entire match. Just having a single use would be enough to discourage the most extreme cases of slugging without giving survivors the ability to pick themselves up throughout the entire match.

Well "Versus" in PvP mean the game IS competitve by nature
But feel free to don't trust me
Here, review on the Steam page of DbD, shall we read them togheter ? "Competitive multiplayer game" "concept for a competitive horror game" are they wrong too i guess ?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2RE4O5ZKBU2J/image.png
YOU can play as you want, you can dance around generators with your friends or do funny emote the entire game it's up to you but if i play to win well..i play to win in the sweatiest and dirtiest way possibile i can ( without breaking any rules of course )
Mario Party is technically a competitive game. Just because a game has a win condition doesn't mean the game is built around sweaty competitve play. EVERY game that involves multiple players is either going to be labelled Co-op or Competitive. You have to look at the game itself to know whether it's meant to be more geared towards fun rather than competition.
YOU can play however you want. The game gives you that freedom. The same way that survivors squads can bully killers into standing in a corner so they can do the gens with no resistence. It doesn't mean it's good for the game though, and it doesn't mean the game couldn't be better at maximizing fun for the playerbase overall.
-
Some maps don't have hills or any ways to activate BL unless you do a small drop into the basement. I think BHVR adds second floor windows so BL can be used, without having to add hills to maps. I think Garden of Joy is a map with no hills, so BL needs to be activated from the second story of the house.

If it truly was a "party game" then the killer would not be playable, and would instead be a bot.
I get that playing killer can be rough at times, but I've played solo queue for two years. The amount of awful, unplayable matches I've suffered through is unreal, and yet I don't have this kind of doomer mentality towards the game.

No my friend, DbD it is NOT a "party game" , it's a PvP game
Then, if you decide to play it casual, to have a party with your friends, to spend time doing dances around the generator it's up to you but you can't blame ME if i play to win because that's how the game it's mean to be
PvP games can't be party games? Guess I missed the memo.
You don't play the game "the way it's meant to be played". You play the way you want to. That's not objective game design, that's just a preference. Just because someone chooses to play super sweaty doesn't make the game competitive. Dead by Daylight is loaded with RNG, jank and all kinds of crap. I have no idea why players would look at that and come to the conclusion that the game is intended to be a sweatfest. If that were the case, BHVR wouldn't have matchmaking that hands free wins to killers by adding random potatoes to survivor squads.

I feel for you and I try not do this if I can avoid it. Sadly the game is not meant for casual players the game has shifted more to the competitive side in my opinion. They also absolutly gutted DS in my opinion with killers like Deathslinger able to bypass it with ease. These are just my opinions. If they buff DS back to it's old 5 second stun then I think everything will be better not ideal but I think survivors have a better chance.
Unfortunately this is the problem. Dead by Daylight is a party game that isn't suitable for anyone who isn't looking to grind their face against a wall. Party games have mechanics to try and keep players in the match for as long as possible (as it's boring for less skilled players to to be eliminated early). But the most effective thing you can do in this game as killer is target the weakest player and eliminate them. It just feels like bad game design if the game is designed around casual fun.

this is a genuine question, and it’s not meant to be harsh. It’s just i’ve noticed how ridiculously popular WoO has become, it was definitely wasn’t an unpopular pick before, but now i see atleast 1-3 of it every match i play.
i’m not asking for it to be nerfed, the perk is completely fine and acts as a decent way for less experienced players too loop/chase decently (and is also a good accessibility option). But i personally don’t run the perk because i feel like it kinda kills a bit of the joy in looping/chase because i don’t feel rewarded for knowing the maps.
i think what really sells the idea of survivors being worse for me is when WoO is combo’d with MFT (this is not hating on MFT, this is more-so just my opinion on the WoO and MFT combo), it’s just basically like playing the game on auto pilot. Like i’m being genuine here, pairing those 2 perks just turns the game into auto pilot mode. And the thing is this combo is extremely popular, why??? There’s so many better perk options than WoO that can also help with chasing. Any Means tells you if a pallet has been used, Alert does aswell, meaning you know not to go there during a loop but they also give you MUCH more info/value.
It just feels a bit odd that i’ve seen so many people complain about fun recently when the most popular builds at the moment are just auto-pilot chase builds. It feels concerning how popular WoO is right now when it’s mainly a beginners steering wheel perk.
(also the fact that a lot of people are complaining about ultimate weapon, an info perk, also says a lot. Would you rather hide the whole match and have the killer run 4 anti-gen perks?)
I don't think a survivor running WoO or MFT necessarily indicates that they suck. There are good reasons to run WoO, especially if you are playing in solo queue, and MFT doesn't do much for survivors that suck at the game. It's fine if you think survivors running those perks suck, but it's not a good way of quantifying whether survivors are getting worse at the game.
-
Alien's anti-loop isn't strong enough to warrant being 4.4. The only thing that is slightly weird is that Alien has access to M1 and M2 at the same time, whereas other killers have to commit to one or the other. But it doesn't seem to make Alien too strong. You just can't juke Alien at close range like you can with Huntress for example.

Like I said, make it an option. 🤷🏻♂️ You want to hide it? Go ahead. Others don’t care to, and that should be their choice.
The result of that will be that survivors and killers will simply assume anyone hiding their prestige is P100. Lobby dodging will still occur at the same rate as before, as killers and survivors who dodge P100's will also dodge anyone hiding their prestige. The only way to stop players dodging P100's is to remove prestige visibility for everyone. It's either that or nothing. Your middle ground solution wouldn't change anything. It might actually result in more lobby dodging.

Idk if im going crazy or if ive lost all skill (ive definitely lost some of it because i took a big break from the game) but i feel like as killer i dont get to see any survivors during the match. They run away from gens the second they hear my terror radius and otherwise just hide in bushes or corners with distortion. I feel like I'm just following fading scratchmarks for 90% of my matches and I'm wondering if it's like the meta rn to play stealthy again and never engage with the killer or Ive really just become absurdly bad at tracking. or if should just main ghostface
It could be a lot of things. Luck that you encountered a load of stealth survivors in a short period of time. Nerfs to healing making stealth more important. It's hard to say.
@Neprašheart said:
The current META is Made For This and the usual hold W strategy with predropping pallets; Run around the dropped pallet until it's necessary to vault, attempt to fake the vault and vault some window nearby, then head over to the pallet once again.
For that reason alone, you're not gonna see any M1 killers, unless it's the Plague, Wesker, or some other M1 with a built-in anti-looping mechanic. Nemesis with its tentacles, Xenomorph with its tail, and so much more.. Unfortunately, that means no mascot matches with the Trapper, and barely any annoying woosh-Spirit competitive players, although those are still present with their tracking add-ons 24/7 if you ever run into them.
So, it is mostly them using the boring and the most META strategy, while only partly being you and still having to adjust to the changes over the years or months while you weren't here.
What does MFT and killer viability have to do with survivors playing stealth? Survivors aren't running full chase meta loadouts so they can run away, pre dropping pallets as they go, just so they can hide in a bush at the end.

Hello everyone, and yeah, I am serious.
I know that it is an unpopular opinion, but splitting up on gens is way too efficient these days with all the ways the killers repertoire has been shrunk and dumbed down. We lost hook grabs, facecamping and face with survivor basekit BT. All in all this is okay, I support this kind of change, but at least for me, I am reaching my limits, tbh.
Over half of my games have MFT in them, so unless I am lucky, chases become an absolute slog and you often have to run mindlessly around the most trashy of trashloops and purposefully disrespect the pallet, because otherwise the darn thing will never get out of the way.
And all this time survivors are normally working on 3 gens at the same time. I get it, everyone wants to survive and splitting up IS the most efficient way of doing the gens, but ugh, its also putting so much pressure and strain on the killer. Not every killer can be all over the map and pressure survivors and its not uncommon to have a very good first chase and down the survivor quickly, but still getting rewarded with 2 or even 3 gens done in quick succession.
And after this, what are you gonna do? Once the game hits the 2 gens mark its usually in your best interest to get one survivor out of the game pronto. But this can lead to plays were I have to tunnel that one player I found at the very start of the game out in quick succession, just to get some breathing room, because that player can just slam gens like everyone else when spared.
I actually had such a situation where I hooked one player two times in succession and when they ran into me a third time, I actually spared them and just slugged them.
I was rewarded with gens getting slammed and got a couple hooks on all others, but by that the game had slipped past my control. Had I tunneld and killed that one survivor, I would at least have had a chance to play a fun game. Now it was all a very frustrating affaire. I edged out a single kill by very good endgame management, but was pretty hard reprimanded in the post game chat.
And this is not a singular occurance, not some "hur dur a killer lost one game and now runs to the forums crying". This is happening nearly every game, survivors are extremly efficient and put so much pressure on me by being allowed to split up without any repercussion.
So here is my actual demand: give splitting up some kind of debuff, something like anti-proof thyself. Call it "Fear of the Dark" or "Facing the Darkness alone" or whatever, but make doing gens alone not THIS effective, at least not the first three. The games were I actually had fun were the games where the survivors weren't this brutally efficient, where two bunched up on a gen and did it a bit faster, but just one gen at a time, and not 3 gens all over the map.
I know that I will get a lot of flak for just bringing such a crazy idea on the table, but lets discuss: what are your experiences? I wouldn't mind some actuall anti-tunnel basekit, if the survivors couldn't slam gens this hardm but right now games move so fast, there is barely a game left.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/PBXEOCF32D0A/alien-hate-01.jpg
Against a good team of survivors, playing nice will likely lead to a loss. Unless you get some sort of snowball, the gens will be done before you get three hooks. That's why solo queue teams can be toppled so easily, one weak link can sink an entire team. The lack of communication isn't the biggest problem.
"We lost hook grabs, facecamping and face with survivor basekit BT".
"All in all this is okay, I support this change".
I do think at some point BHVR will have to accept that getting 12 hooks against solid survivor teams without getting your hands dirty is hideously difficult. When I get teammates that are a similar strength to me, the gens go by pretty fast. It's just that solo queue matchmaking is so bad that you end up with teammates that can by themselves sink the entire team.
I think this game would be much easier to balance if the skill floor for playing survivor wasn't so steep. No game should require hundred's of hours before you are competent and no longer a detriment to your team. The gulf between high level SWF and average solo queue survivors is so big, that nerfs to survivor have to be precise. So BHVR should be nerfing the strongest loops, that average survivors can't really use well instead of nerfing healing or gen speeds for example.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
Survivors: Mio & Mayu Amakura - They could have perks that reflect their roles in the story. Mio could have perks that further objectives, whilst Mayu could have perks that make her vulnerable to the killer, whilst giving her awareness that can help her survive? I'm not sure on that one.
Killer: Sae Kurosawa - Sae could have some sort of power that she charges up and allows her to possess a survivor, making them regress the survivor team's progress and when it ends the survivor is left in the dying state... or something.

It's tier three that I can't deal with. It's this tiny loop of sounds that repeats ad nauseum and it's really loud. It's even worse with headphones on. It feels like having multiple people around you at close range, all shouting at the same time. I hate it.

You are now sidestepping your original post and just whining about the forum. Just clarify what you actually meant in your post because everyone including myself is confused.
Any pushback against their arguments gets completely ignored because, like they said, there's more survivor players here. So any time people disagree with them, they just blame it on the idiot survivors who will like any post. Despite the fact that some of the most incoherent threads made by killer players, who insult survivors players and whine that BHVR doesn't care about them and that they are being mistreated, will garner double-digit upvotes.
They didn't get the response they wanted, so the thread has now served it's purpose as it confirmed what they originally thought, that this forum is survivor sided. See? It's got nothing to do with the fact that it was a stupid thread, that instead of offering constructive feedback, chose to insult survivors who don't like getting tunneled by suggesting that they just suck at the game.

The problem is, those people don´t even see their behavior as toxic. "Its just teabagging, bro. No harm in that. Why you got mad? etc." Some leave a lovely message on the killers profile. Some report the killer for whatever they didn´t like about the killers behavior and so on.
Its a pvp game. I can´t think of another pvp game, where someone would go out of their way to stalk another players profile for weeks/months. Just because they got killed. On DbD that happens more often than not.
I wouldn´t call the toxic players a minority, when i can clearly see the times i took a break from dbd on my profile and played something else. Suddenly the comments stopped and they only start again, once i started playing dbd again.
The sad truth is, that this game is full of sore losers and bad winners.
I agree with you that DbD does have a pretty toxic community. Numerically I don't think it's the majority, but I don't doubt that toxicity is probably more common in certain parts of the community than in others. New and casual survivors for example aren't really toxic, as they are too scared to even try to be.
The consistency at which survivors teabag at the exit gates is somewhat dumbfounding. They will do it in almost any match they play, regardless of whether the killer is playing nice (no tunneling or camping regardless of how the match is going), or whether they are a toxic killer with a bad attitude. Teabagging happens so much, and in so many different scenarios that it's meaning is completely lost on me sometimes.
-
For survivor it has to be Calm Spirit. I played against Doctor when I first starting playing two years ago, and immediately added it to my loadout after the match. Avoiding having all that noise pumped into my head is my number one priority. It's terrible with headphones on.
For Killer it's gotta be Nurse's Calling. I don't know why more people don't run this perk, it provides almost universal value throughout the match.

If you play a killer a lot, you will get attacked. The in game T-bagging is the least of the fun times you'll encounter. If you plan to keep at it, watching how a SWF conducts themselves during a twitch stream is an essential component of your education.
You will always meet toxic people online. You can't really figure them out and you can't change them. I'm not going to tell you that they don't exist, because they do. But the toxic players are a minority, regardless of how it feels. All I will say is that fixating on them won't benefit you in any way. It certainly won't help you enjoy your matches more.

Just stating facts, wasn’t aware it was a support group.
You're gassing them up so they hate the game and it's players as much as you do. It's manipulative and you shouldn't be doing it.

Im learning Onryo lately, so im pretty bad at it (whats okey). Im just trying her mechanics out i dont tunnel, i dont camp or do anything that could be remotly considered toxic.
Why do survivors still teabag and flashlight me at the end? Why do they still let the 2min cooldown run out if i dont come and see how they teabag me?
Im really starting to be confused, why are people doing it?
Don't let the toxicity get to you. If you spend too much time focusing on it, you will just end up hating the game and despising everyone you play against.

They are likely laughing at you on comms. This is the perfect game if some friends want to bully someone.
This behavior has only escalated over time. As Killer you should feel like a threat, now you feel like are swinging a whiffle bat and are there to be antagonized for their amusement.
The OP has clearly had some bad matches. Why would you try and gas them up? That's not helping them, you're actively trying to make them more frustrated. You might as well tell them that the survivors were insulting their mother too, if the goal is to make them feel worse.

I can't understand her counter for someone like Wraith even though I hate facing him I can still understand how to handle him. Spirit that's the main problem her husk has the terror radius the wind sound she masks doesn't give much info other then oh she's nearby and most times she finds even when I'm not injured. How do you counter her because I'm not wasting any pallets on her.
You need headphones. Trying to tell where she is during a phase with a speaker set up is going to suck.

You're asking the devs to do something that would be beneficial for killers. Why would you ever expect them to do that? Being able to see SWFs would be absolutely fantastic, and I'd love to see it, but you have to be realistic here, the devs don't care about the killer's experience.

alright time to dig this grave-
i play on console a lot and its pretty easy for me. i hear a lot about how pc is better and i want to ask: how? like i get the 360-ing and basic stuff like that but ive learned how to do this kind of stuff on console without having to obliterate my bank account for a computer.
so dear players, is pc better? or is it just a topic of debate for the heck of it?
If you are asking about controls, the PC is better due to mouse movement being better, but playing with a controller on console is fine. You can still do the same things, just not as cleanly as with a mouse. Although some killers are said to struggle with advanced tech, Blight and Oni for example. But I don't play them, so I can't comment. Nurse feels fine on PS5 though.

Speaking strictly on hardware and components, yes. My PC is leagues better and stronger than a console could ever hope to be.
Outside of DBD, PC is even more substantially better than console.
I think they are talking about controls. I could be wrong though.

The anti-bag mechanic is complete.

Yes, the hit box feels off on top of the delay. I really don´t understand why they didn´t just fix the bug and then look at how the killer performs. Makes no sense at all.
Are we convinced that BHVR intentionally made the tail wonky, or could it just be another bug? I don't remember Xeno doing anything beyond hitting survivors over loops, so I'm not sure what they would be trying to nerf.
