  • Okay I won't read all that, but my 2 cents about the topic itself:

BHVR are just slowly moving into giving the good ol' git gud pill, so in other words both for survivor and killer there's just going to be less crutches and more incentives to actually get better at the game and win because of that and not because of a certain thing.

Having 4 second chance perks or 4 slowdowns stacked together was never a good thing.

I think future new metas could turn out to be very fun if everyone was willing to leave their perk-build comfort zones, and their insatiable need to win and stomp the other side in a game that is essentially not meant to be taken seriously.

Edit: about what perks are still good to use I'd say deadlock, and pentimento is not bad at all either.

I don’t think bloodlust should be a thing in the first place.

    ^This.

  • Don't drop pallets if you suck at looping. Leave them for the others and myself.

The amount of god pallet predrops or just people that drop pallets like crazy is astonishing.

  • WGLF and BBQ BP's need to come back :(

  • Sorry, but the game is putting you in pepega lobbies. There's your explanation.

  • Best tip I can give is to not boost yourself to competent lobbies by using crutches and to not make your perk builds do all the pressure work for you, that's how people never learn. It's like being handed out a million dollar loan when you turn 18 or starting out a new game with everything unlocked, you just end up relying on that way too much.

Also glad to see some people are still willing to learn, kudos to you.

  • Huhhh I don't think your teammates needed help, touching the hook despawns the guards.

You wouldn’t get the addon back but you’d be able to get your item charges back after using the addon if it worked that way.

It just helps discourage super strong items from being brought as often with the best addons which is a good thing. It doesn’t prevent you from doing it but it limits their availability together.

Maybe, but I don't think a survivor should be using a medkit THAT much, they won't really get value out of BTL. A green medkit with gel dressings, a syringe and a great skill check gives you 3 heals. That should be enough for the entire match.

Perhaps "marking" the item so that it isn't eligible for BTL could be an option, but I don't think that'd be easy enough to code for the devs to bother with it.

Also medkits are getting nerfed for obvious reasons so it's even less likely :s

I mean you can read my post, I understand most killers don't hold the same opinion on dh as I. But I think seeing the same thing every game is problematic. Other games have different game designs and can allow for things to be banned with more varied balance. At the very least when I play survivor I get varied killers that I can play differently vs regardless of how boring or exciting their game play can be. When I play killer It's just nothing too special survivors running the same perks albeit more than before 6.1.0.

That perk just has awful and boring design on killer side while it feels amazing to get off as a survivor, I would know I ran it in all my survivor games for months.

The killer side thing that's boring is when you see them tunneling your teammate who isn't too good, I'm sure everyone has a flat expression when that happens. Same goes for when I see a dh coming up

    Me: DH?

    Survivor: DH's

    Me: DH

    Me: Downs survivor

Most players go through that with the most flat expression on their face because it's a boring routine.

Remember when the forums were flooded with the "I'm tired of going against Wesker every game"? It's like that. By dh's design survivors will keep running it until it's actually f tier and killers will have to keep waiting it out until it gets a full rework not a bhvr nothing rework.

This is the second time in 1.7 years that I have quit because of how tedious the perk is to play against. Even with it going from 3 to 2 dh's a game it will stay relatively popular. I could run alch ring every single game and just ignore it but I don't want to fight a boring , overused perk with an oppressive, overused add-on. I know alch ring is op and feels bad to play against so I go out of my way to not run it.

I get there is all these people saying dh is op and should be nerfed when it's not, but at the core of the issue it just comes down to how unfun and hard(for mediocre killers) to play against the perk.

You make a valid point of it getting boring because of repetitiveness. That's why I think BHVR caved in and nerfed it, pick rate.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

It's to balance Styptics and Syringes because of how strong they are. If it depleted your charges instead of deleting your medkit entirely, you'd be able to bypass this downside with BTL. It also means you're encouraged to bring those strong addons on weaker medkits because losing them isn't as big of a deal. Given how powerful those two addons are, I think it's fair the way it is.

Huh, BTL doesn't respawn active add-ons. Toolboxes don't get deleted by BNP and BNP doesn't respawn when you use BTL.

Edit: Didn't read properly oopsie. Anyways, you'd be using a perk slot for it, and on top of that the item wouldn't have the active add-on because they don't respawn. You'd just get the item back at 99% charge with only 1 addon.

  • Every DH discussion misses the point, the only time Dead Hard was a problem was when it was a no-brainer gain distance button.

Biased/entitled killer mains just want it gone and nerfed to the ground, not balanced.

That much I can tell by how they reacted to the last DH rework (first few days they thought no1 would use it and were absolutely exhilarated), and how much they whine about pretty much everything the survivors do despite the fact that escape rates are in the sewer and the fact that BHVR themselves want the game to be killer inclined (they've already stated they don't want 50/50's %, and judging by the last reported statistics it very much ISN'T a 50/50).

Biased/entitled survivor mains that couldn't deal with the fact that it took skill to use after the rework kept killing themselves on hook after the update to try and sabotage statistics (spoiler alert this doesn't work, neither do DC's), and Solo Q was pretty much unplayable for some time.

People just want to see stuff nerfed to the ground because they can't cope with it.

You'll see people preach flashlights are toxic and op, you'll see people complain about Dead Hard, you'll see people whine about getting tunneled (they can't last 2s in chase, pity) you'll see people cry about gen rush and complain the game is "survivor sided" after they boost themselves to lobbies with non-potato survivors by using 4 slowdowns and "strategies" that made the game think they actually know how to apply pressure and play the game, and you'll see people complain about a killer being weak when they're not just because they haven't learned it or because they're comparing it to another killer that is busted base kit or with certain add-ons.

At the end of the day, nothing will really matter, because BHVR just wants to keep the game interesting by nerfing stuff to the ground to make way for different perks, regardless of what we all think. They'll make something up, and then they will just adjust it depending on feedback. We participate in the process, and we are valued by BHVR, but we will never get the first word and probably never will, because honestly the community hasn't proven itself to be responsible enough for this IMO. Most discussions about balancing are just "I don't like this thing" or "Here's why this absolutely busted thing is actually fair", and most suggestions are just someone who pulls numbers out of a black hole and says "yeah, this'll work, trust me bro" with absolutely no foundation or critical thought whatsoever.

  • @fulltonon said:

Hell, killers lose everything regardless of they win or not, it's not like losing things will be problematic from design perspective.

As they should because I'm talking about items, not add-ons. Killers don't have to "buy" their power in the bloodweb.

  • Spawning next to gens is inconsequential.

A good survivor won't even touch it until they're certain you're not coming/have already (unsuccessfully) checked the area. Nobody wants to be caught first 10s into a match. Same reason why good survs won't mindlessly go straight to the RPD hall at the start since every single killer auto-pilots there for some reason.

If anything, what should be done is to prevent all 4 survs from spawning next to each other because that's just free pressure, specially when using Lethal Pursuer.

  • Please provide proof otherwise these discussion is pointless.

  • It's not that bad as long as I've got something to loop. If you get hooked in the basement or a deadzone you are pretty much F'd. Having nothing to loop and going down to a Pepega because of it is quite frustrating.

It's also not fun at all for the other 3 people that will (hopefully) just be doing gens to go next.

NOED is a mandatory pick because I keep getting games like this, what else am I supposed to do? The survivors usually bring Adrenaline anyway to undo any damage I dish out. Also Jane played extremely questionable, she could have abused CoH like the rest of her mates on the RPD map but instead she stayed on the half of the map without that godforsaken boon totem. Without her this would have been a blatant 0K.

Noed is never worth a perk slot because you're counting on not doing good and letting survivors into the endgame.

I don't mean to be rude, but I'd say there's a lot of room for improvement on your end.

  • So... are we not going to talk about the NOED?

Also looking at perks alone I don't think that was a SWF at all to begin with.

Also poor Jane, you literally tunneled her out of the match.

  • I mean, it's BHVR's intention to make the game killer sided, they have already said so in the past.

Add to that actually good killer players, or just average/bad killers abusing strats that can't be dealt with efficiently in most Solo Q lobbies (Solo Q being the biggest comunity chunk of the game) and you've got yourself a pretty killer sided game.

Seeing that (already boosted by SWF's) 39% escape rate months ago also hit like a truck.

  • Best way to find out things like these is to actually play both sides.

  • Same here. I demand 2,000,000 BP as compensation! The error is interrupting my 4 stack Bloody Party Streamer SWF 😔

  • That, and everyone running Merciless Storm all of a sudden.

I actually faced a Spirit sometime ago with busted addons, slowdowns and the merciless storm bug in Solo Q and she still managed to not get a single kill. She was so salty after the match when I called her out on her bs and failed attempt at exploiting bugs.

  • I'm at rank 1 and I still pip (tho it doesn't do anything ofc) so I don't know what the issue is.

It's a bit annoying if people dc early when you're in Iri grades climbing to grade 1 for the 13th rewards but other than that it's easy.

  • The bias on this one 😬

  • In my honest opinion, a lot of people that I see complain about X Y or Z tend to sound as though they haven't bothered to "git gud" first and complain later.

In other words, a lot of people seem to be very quick to open their mouths, take other's people feedback as facts before trying something out themselves and have focused way too much on perks and builds to the point they can't even properly play a role anymore without crutches (examples of this are killers on 4 slowdowns, camping and tunneling 24/7 that then complain they're facing comp SWF's and that the game is 100% survivor sided when they have boosted themselves to that "skill" level, or a Survivor only player exclusively queuing with a premade group and then complaining they can't cope/survive for more than a minute when solo).

I have to say though, some update changes seem to come out of nowhere, like with the Billy's add-ons, so I wouldn't say it's "our fault" (because of that, and because not everyone is a whiny mosquito).

TBF COH was overtuned, but it was also clearly overnerfed

That's my point. It's only natural some things are made a bit op by mistake, but nerfing stuff into the ground isn't a solution either.

Also nerfing things on a "it's op, trust me bro" basis isn't good either.

  • They did know how to balance them to some extent, but everyone's hobby seems to be crying so unfortunately we can't have nice things anymore.

  • Just here to say that though you might not see her, P3 Blendette is, indeed, here.

  • I just play whatever has the BP bonus (spoiler alert it's almost always on the survivor role)

  • Seeing someone go down before even a single gen gets done.

People orbiting camped hooks trying to save, instead of doing gens and going next.

Going against an Oni with randoms that get hit within 5s.

Watching how a random teammate drops pallets AFTER they get hit.

List goes on, but at least none of these happen often enough.

  • @Pulsar said:

People stack gen regression because it's easy. They like to give themselves the best chance to win.

For most of your matches, PR on it's own is enough.

Also, a sub-30 Solo gen is nearly impossible in a live game.

    This ^ :)

  • The 39% escape rate included both Solo Q and SWF if I'm not mistaken. Furthermore, thrown games aren't taken into account for statistics, BHVR has ways of removing them.

There's also the fact that the devs have already stated in the past that they want the game to be killer sided, and it is. They're not aiming for 50/50's.

  • Yes please. Either that or more emotes.

  • What have you been inhaling lately? I want some.

Hell even killer has become boring AF because of these unnecessary changes

I can agree with this statement. I'm miserable when playing survivor and playing killer is a 3-4k every game with little to no challenge other than SWF's and even those struggle despite me just being, if anything, a slightly above average killer on a good day.

  • Nope! Please don't use them.

  • There's entitlement for both roles since both roles are played by people. The bias is so bad even entitled killer mains wrote stuff like "skill issue" or "cope" when devs released stats showing a 39% escape rate, and entitled survivors thought it would be a good idea to consistently throw matches for entire weeks as a protest.

People can be very biased and that's why we keep seeing the same names pop up on the forums or social media, preaching random entitled stuff for either role with no other reason other than "I don't like this" or "i dont want a challenge i just want to win"

  • Devs aren't interested in making the game a balanced 50/50.

They themselves have expressed in the past how kill rates in general weren't high enough for their liking, and people really like to forget the fact that last time statistics were shown, escape rates were only at 39% and that was including SWF's.

I don't take the game too seriously, and I was okay with them making the game killer sided but trying to go beyond a 60/40 that included premades with comms support is a bit overkill, specially when they seemingly do it on a whim and minimal testing.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

Standard healing by other Survivors was left alone. This is how healing should be done. Currently Survivors take hits like it’s no big deal and quickly heal up. Taking a hit should be an actual setback, not a mild annoyance.

Was it? People have been writing altruistic healing will now take 24s instead of 16, but I am not certain.

Edit: 24s nerf confirmed. Even standard healing got nerfed to the ground 🙄

  • I disagree. The ammount of strategy is (most of the time) nonexistent.

All most people do in this game is chase down the most braindead easy tactic available. I don't know at which point "Most Effective Tactic Available" got confused for "Most Lazy Tactic Available" but here we are 🤷‍♂️

With the new HUD update, it was more likely 40/60, as it gave ALL survivors so much information, unless you're brain dead. This up date will push the 60/40 back in-line with their views I believe.

HUD update should've been a thing from the get go and it was just to bring Solo Q and SWF closer together to make SWF feel less strong.

Also, as I'm sure a lot of people like to forget, escape rates were at 39%, and as Nirgendwohin mentioned the devs seem to want to make that statistic even lower.

  • Prove Thyself isn't that good because it's better to do different gens at the same time with survivors being split up to diminish killer pressure.

  • I do. Whoever says it's not a universal responsibility to try and be nice to each other is a worm.

I bet my old co-worker plays facecamp Bubba and tbags as Nea 24/7 😆

To reach p100 means you have some nice playtime. Playtime leads to in-game experience and knowledge which ends up with in-game skill.

Quite in contrary, you should generally care for such players and lastly to say "nah, I know that guy with p100 who plays like having 1 hour in the game". When people use edge cases that's the issue man.

No it doesn't. Game time leads to nothing if people aren't willing to improve and get better, and (in this case anyway) we're talking about a comunity that actively dodges lobbies with people wearing fancy skins and having fancy logos on their heads, just for the sake of finding easy matches and avoid a challenge that may or may not be there since skins and logos themselves don't mean anything in the first place. 🤷‍♂️

  • Old animations looked goofy, but they made the survivors look genuenly scared, specially when spawning.

New animations look generally better, but make survivors look like robots and sticks.

Imo, neither look right. The only ones I'm fine with as they are right now are the dying state, recovering and crawling. I'd change everything else, though not back to how it used to be, that'd be worse.

As someone else already mentioned, I also try staying, for mine and everyone else's pips.

I've still given up in some of these situations, however. Sometimes it's just not worth it.
