Correct you can record longer but i've not record everything because the game lasted 30m why would i lie. Killers blocked because he wanted to troll. My team have done all gens and opened the doors at 99%, but instead of opening the door they taken the hatch so EGC haven't occur. I've blamed them but he doesn't change the fact that the killer was holding me hostage with another teammate.
Like i said you want to treat me of liar go ahead but, i haven't cut anything and is the full clip i had. If you want however i can give you the full ID list of who i've played even the random who were with us.
Because 48 seconds is not the full clip on ps4 video saving. That's not an option. Unless the game was bolted up and ended in 48 seconds, there would be more of the clip. Somewhere. Or 18 seconds less, with only 30 seconds.
Ps4 does not have a "save 48 seconds" option.

I think i'm saying what you're saying??? As long as the match can progress to an ending(hatch, exits opened, bleed outs, ect) then that is not holding the game hostage.
Yes, I was capitalizing so that people would see the main point. I was also....debating...another user so I may have misread the two together. But yes, they had an option to continue and trigger EGC, so it wasnt hostage taking.

Yeah, I was vehemently against the rift, and its tie in to the archives, because of this #########.
The archives are a great idea to give you more to do and learn/earn.
Making that the main source of rift fragments tainted it into another necessary grind to unlock things you dont need.
Shame really.

It was justified. You were either being a troll, or you worded your post in such a way that you came across that way. Either way, when you insult a group of people, while deifying the other group (of which you claim to be a member), I consider that trolling.

He definitely has the whole game recorded as you do that after the game on ps4 So purposefully trimming it to 48 seconds and not showing the end is telling me that there probably was no hostage situation and the hatch probably didn't even come into play.
Yeah ps4 has time options, like 1 min, 15 min, an hour, etc. But not 48 seconds...
In a post about being held hostage and hatch being used, youd think there would be more before or after the 48 seconds...

The survivors chose to complete their objective and escape. Yes, they could have escaped a different way, which might not have led to the same hostage situation, but they did not control the outcome. It was still completely the killer's choice to hold the game hostage from that point onwards. The killer, not the other survivors, is the one that should be held responsible, because they were the one breaking the game's rules. No one forced them to hold the game hostage.
No one forced a survivor to knowingly go upstairs and get caught. No one forced them to bypass the only point gaining option their teammates had.
I dont agree, sympathize, or side with the killer, but, especially with just a story for what happened and no video of the whole game, it's hard to acurately say the killer did everything wrong and caused a hostage situation.
Its scummy it got there, but the killer is in no way 100% at fault.
The killer did their objective, and had 2 survivors trapped by their own misplays. knowing the EGC would kill them, they opted for a scummy 2k. The other 2 survivors changed that.
It's almost as close to a 3 gen being considered "hostage taking". Misplays lead to bad situations. And when you're in a full, coordinated team, taking the only solution you have, and choosing one that places the killer in the "hostage taking" position, KNOWING you would have to DC and lose points, is stupid. Borderline planned, and seeming like, as you stated, they were forcing the spirit into punishment by their own actions.
For all we know, they got 5 gens with 0 hooks, and when spirit finally caught one, due to a misplay, they said, hey, let's get us out with hatch, so its THEIR FAULT and THEY get reported.
I'm done with this, as its apparent you will not hear what I'm saying, as in every potential situation or cause, it must be the killers fault for taking the game hostage, knowingly, and maliciously.
Inb4: ___ main. I play both sides. And this thread is ridiculous. Spirit didnt hold anyone hostage, as the game had a potential end, until swf decided they wanted otherwise.
-
@The_Bootie_Gorgon said:
Holding the game hostage = stopping the progression of the objectives. If the spirit had blocked all 4 survivors by blocking the stairs and doing no other action, then yes, that is holding the game hostage.
In this case it appears that there were 2 survivors that were still able to progress the game to an ending.
Holding the game hostage is not what you say it is. The devs stated "AS LONG AS WORK CAN BE DONE AND THE GAME CAN FINISH, ITS NOT A HOSTAGE SITUATION."
2were outside. Able to do work and trigger EGC. It wasnt a hostage situation until 2 of the swf left and didnt finish their work.

It doesn't matter what the killer was thinking. They didn't know that the survivors were in a group, and even if they did, it wouldn't matter. If they continued to block the stairs after the others escaped, they were breaking the rules and taking the game hostage. You can sympathise with them, but they were still in the wrong.
I'm not sympathizing with them. I'm stating what happened (per ops story) and what likely or potentially went through their minds. They didnt have the game hostage until the swf team decided to leave via hatch. That was a decision made by the survivors to not trigger EGC, stranding the other 2.

It's the best we have, and the ranking system more likely than not, will match red rank killers against red rank survivors.
If you don't want to believe the statistics, I'll go ahead and pick the top 3 recent (from today's comment) videos from a random content creator.
I'll be using Tru3ta1ent since he's the first that comes to mind and he's a great red rank killer:
I haven't watched the videos, but I can almost guarantee he gets at least a 2K in all of the videos. ๐
"Random content creator"
"Uses Tru3"
As if we didnt know who it would be when you said random content creator.

@NMCKE said:
I don't think the developers are survivor sided because they made changes to both sides.
Here's a few to start:
- Survivor: Nerfed Balanced Landing
- Killer: Nerfed Hex: Ruin
- Survivor: Nerfed Instaheals.
- Killer: Nerfed Nurse.
- Survivor: Buffed Perks.
- Killer: Buffed Perks.
- Survivor: Buffed Pallets.
- Killer: Added the EGC.
- Survivor: DS wasn't gutted after change.
- Killer: Freddy wasn't gutted after change.
I can go on for a while, but in short, the developers aren't bias towards any side. You shouldn't assume the developers are X sided because Y got buffed or nerfed. Research, from previous patches, shows the developers are quite neutral and look at top tier players for advice. ๐
-Balanced landing was changed, it had an extra affect other exhaustion perks didnt.
-Insta heals may not be insta full heals, but are still just as strong at extending chases
-EGC was not a killer buff. It was a game ender for both sides, as standoffs had become too common to ignore. On both sides.
-DS is still useful as something other than a tunneling prevention perk.
The ONLY killer "buff" on there that's actually correct, is Freddy.
It's easy to see full balance when looking from one side of the fence.

You could argue that they left via hatch to force the killer to take action or be held responsible for holding the game hostage.
So if anything, the SWF now have the killer hostage/as a scapegoat.
Even more scummy.
Because all that did was leave two teammates with no option EXCEPT to DC, when they were capable of dying to EGC.
All I see is that the killer, and half of the SWF have this ego problem of "nuh uh YOU suck and I WIN, I'm gonna PROVE IT", and both refuse to give ground. Killer via blocking, swf via forcing a hostage situation further.

You're correct, the hatch does automatically close after 30 seconds if it is opened with a key. I was mistaken in saying that it will remain open permanently. However, this does not trigger the EGC, so the scenario OP is describing is still a hostage situation.
Due to the other 2 taking hatch and not opening the doors. If it's a full swf they have communication.
And besides, why doesnt EGC start on key hatch close? Seems any hatch closing should, as SOMEONE has gone through it.
All that aside. The killer isnt completely responsible. They're being scummy, but know in their mind," two are out there. Theyll finish gens and start EGC, and these two will die."
They didn't think to themselves, "hey, I bet the other two will use a key for hatch and let me hold these two forever.'
It's still scummy. And the house should still have a drop off (inside, not to corn), but I dont blame the killer for taking hostages here. The SWF team had a potential to end it, and opted to leave two stranded.

Trapper: needs already stetted traps before
clown: no, what he does is getting pallets dropped earlier
gf: I believe you
Myers: having tier 3 doesn't mean survivors won't touch gens
Leatherface: only if you're out of position, otherwise needs a correct zoning before
pig: rbt are completely rng hence inconsistent, also, pig's dash doesn't help her so much, all you have to do is leave the loop as soon as she crouch
Except the traps ARE NOT RNG.
A key is placed when a trap goes on. They have to pick. It's not RNG, its luck.
Can you say its inconsistent because people can get lucky? Or guess right? Yes. But s key IS in a SPECIFIC box. Thata not RNG removal. Its RNG key allocation at best.

@Fibijean said:

No, it wouldn't, because the hatch is never going to close as long as the killer continues to bodyblock the last two survivors inside the house.
If a key opens a hatch, it auto closes. Does it not? That's why the achievement is harder. Because if a teammate opens it, and you're not there, it closes and you're still in game.
Also, the hatch wouldnt open without a key unless all but 1 were dead. So a key had to be used.
-
@ermsy said:

Well...the outside survivors finished the gens but left via hatch so egc never occured.
Right, but when hatch closes it should trigger EGC. Unless it just doesnt in the one situation confusing keys instead of a killer closing it? Which seems unlikely.
Still. The 2 that left are in swf as far as the op said, and could/should have opened the doors to trigger it at least BEFORE taking hatch.
If I'm in a full group, and the other 2 leave without triggering EGC (hatch issue, dc, etc) I'm definitely blaming them and not the killer.
The killer is still being scummy, but it's not entirely in their hands at that point.
-
Without putting an in game memo, no they wont ban anyone. The forums are a small portion of the playerbase and to ban players who are unknowingly breaking a rule due to a blanket protocol, would be unfair and unwise.

The out of house team did finish the gens but opted to use the hatch rather than open the exits so egc never prompted...so in this scenario the game was held hostage.
So in a full swf team. The TEAM stranded the others. That's not the killer. Also, once the hatch closes, wouldnt the EGC trigger anyway?
-
"They donโt believe that players would find the gameplay enjoyable with the current Ruin if there werenโt a way of conclusively dealing with it"
Survivors. Not players. Survivors.
"This is unlikely to happen. Hex perks are supposed to be extremely powerful, and this is balanced by their ability to be disabled completely."
By the dev team. Ruin can still be disabled completely, but its not extremely powerful. Or really powerful at all. It's more of a survivor focusing tool at this point. "Ruin? Yep. Guess I'll just keep working on this gen."
Shame.

While the Game might end, it is not really cool to stay there for several minutes without escaping. Even if you block one Survivor in the Corner at the start of the game, it would not be considered taking the game hostage, because the game will end eventually. Still it is griefing, at least.
Killers should lose collision when not moving for a certain amount of time. There is also not really a tactical reason to do that, even if this would have resulted in a 2k, it would be a very bad game and no real motivation behind it, other than to give a bad experience to the other side.
On a side note: This Hook upstairs should be moved to the ground of the House (the "Main Hall"). It is basically another Basement Hook. This would also not make the upper Part of Thompsons House safe, because there is nothing to work with for a Survivor, no Pallets and an unsafe Window.
So moving the Hook downstairs would remove the unneccessary strength of it, while still making it hard for Survivors to get down without getting hit, when they get caught on the Gen.
It's not griefing. Devs have stated griefing is through multiple games targeting the same person. One scummy game doesnt make someone a griefer.

Playing with their swf. They had a team.
They TOLD THE TEAM if they went to save theyd be caught.
They were.
That means THE TEAM (the other 2) are still out of the house. Able to do gens. Prompt EGC. And the 2 "hostages" die to EGC. That's not hostage taking. Scummy, yes, but the game CAN end.

Not really as they want to make it so they aren't overly powerful when they synergise together.
Old ruin, pgtw, dying light, thanatobia was mentioned in the stream as an example of that.
So to stop this idea you either nerf each perk or you make them less strong together and better alone. That's what they discussed.
They don't want to remove them all from being able too hence the new ruin can synergise well with surveillance which they like.
It also synergize with new players and their cash, which BE really likes.

Furthermore how long do you think killers constantly setting up three gen strats will last before BHVR would tweak them? lol

I don't think anyone is passionately against changing them, it's just fairly low priority since it wouldn't make a difference in the vast majority of matches and would take time away from other more pressing issues.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1025287#Comment_1025287
You got me, the jig is up. We all sat around the table and thought making Rancor work differently from other killer and survivor perks was the best way to intentionally chase killer players away from the game. That's definitely a way more logical explanation.
See: Hex Ruin logic.
Stated reason: overuse in 80% of games with no skill.
-why not look into why it was used.
-what about other perks that take no skill.
Posted, quoted reason in changes: We found it too frustrating and unfun for newer survivors.
So I can see how people may not exactly trust when you guys say "oh were TOTALLY not biased" in any flippant, sarcastic, or disregarding manner. It definitely looked like ways to chase old players away while retaining newer ones.
Btw, I play both sides.

Pressure isnt just getting a hit. It's making the survivors make CHOICES based on your pressure. Keeping them off gens, risking saves, etc.
Having to waste another 30-60 seconds over a "free hit" is not pressure. It's not a free hit if you have to waste time in which you COULD be applying pressure.
But I'm glad your lack of a real argument has led you to trying to insult me. It shows you dont HAVE a real argument about it. Because it's not pressure. Thanks though.
