I just wish it was dark again. Or at least darker than it is now. Something closer to Glenvale's dusk would be nice.
-
So make it work like Terminus where getting a hook activates it and the only way to get rid of it is to go ahead and open the doors and wait out the timer? Yeah that would be fine I suppose, I could see it procing a lot more often that way. But on the other hand, having to get through both No Way Out and Blood Warden would be agony.

That's funny. Last time I saw penti it was on a deathslinger and me and the other Kate just followed him around and deleted every penti he kindled. Acting like teamwork doesn't exist is ridiculous.
Yeah let me just use teamwork to psychically know the locations of all the totems my soloQ teammates cleansed on the map so I can beeline over and cleanse them because they're too busy getting chased to do it themselves which punishes all of us trying to do gens.
Glad your strategy of keeping half the team off gens to stalk the killer worked out. Also good to know that my suggested Penti change wouldn't have actually made it any easier for you so it's not that severe a nerf like some people are acting.

getting 4k on killer is literally the easiest thing you can do, it’s not even a game, just a given. So they have to bonus the survivors as no one wants to play survivor as they have been nerfed to unplayable state.
And yet my survivor queue times are longer than my killer queues. And if there really were so few survivors, the bonus would be up to 100% instead of the constant 25% or even 0%.

Don't wait around doing nothing, thats not what I said at all. Pentimento's first effect is gens, second is healing. If you're not doing something that tips you off to penti, what the hell are you doing?
You're ignoring the rest of the problem of SoloQ teammates cleansing totems and not being able to find the Pentimentos created because of them.

I primarily play solo queue and don't have a problem countering it.
If you've never had a match where you had to run around searching for a Pentimento totem whose location you had NO idea of, while every teammate is doing gens at a snail's pace, then you're luckier than I am.
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
It doesn't need a nerf. If someone cleanses a totem, and the killer gets Pentimento, that survivor needs to go back and clean it up, especially if it was a dull totem. In the vast majority of cases, you should not be putting your teammates in a position where they have to spend a long time looking for it. (And if you see Pentimento, stop doing dull totems. Whatever dull totem perk you have probably isn't worth it in this case.) If it's a hex, pay attention to where they were destroyed. Anyone can easily go in that direction and find the totem. It's really not that hard to counter.
The notifications of cleansed hexes are vague and sometimes don't even have a sound to notify.
You speak from the perspective of a coordinated SWF team but that's not what this thread is about. It's about soloQ players who can't talk to each other. If one survivor failing to cleanse a Pentimento sabotages the entire team and all but guarantees a loss, all because of one player whom no one can communicate with, then my point stands: Pentimento needs an update because it's too strong against solo players.
-
A one-time super-camp perk? Why?
-
Have it show the hatch at all ranges but only if you're slugged. Then have it boost your crawl speed by 500%.
-
@Skillfulstone said:
For Pentimento to have any reliable value, you need at least one other Hex perk. That's at least half of your build dedicated to getting value out of one perk.
With how ridiculous some totem spawns can be, it already makes it's effectiveness slightly vulnerable to rng. Making the totem show it's aura would essentially remove all chances of the perk lasting more than a minute.
Killing decent perks isn't the answer, buffing useless perks in a viable but healthy state is how you encourage variety.
I don't care how much of your build you dedicate to it, it's still an unhealthy result, it's still disproportionately strong against soloQ players. All you need is 1 Pentimento that the survivors can't find.

One Detective Hunch and you most of the time know where every totem is on the map. Only on the biggest maps you might not see one or two of them. Counterforce makes cleansing totems so easy that even if killer pops the Pentimento to a cleansed totem you can cleanse it now even faster.
Yeah, Hunch shows every totem on the map, for a few seconds. And only when generators are completed, which Pentimento is good at slowing down. And good luck finding the totem spots that were already cleansed by teammates.
Counterforce does little to help you find totems because it only highlights one at a time and specifically the furthest one so have fun wasting as much time as possible running to those totems.
These perks are bad, don't even joke that they're worth running as a counter.
-
@Xernoton said:
Wouldn't that immediately kill the perk though? Pentimento is already such a wild card because a survivor can easily remember where they destroyed a totem and showing the aura would simply remove any point in running it. Basically you would reduce Pentimento's value to: "Get a survivor off their gen to destroy the totem a second time."
It wouldn't kill it any harder than SWFs already do, while giving SoloQ a more reasonable counterplay against it. If not being able to stomp uncoordinated solo players would kill the perk then maybe it should be killed. But I think it would remain completely fine, because getting survivors off gens to cleanse more totems is still a valuable amount of slowdown.
-
@Wezqu said:
If this is so huge problem why aren't you guys running perks to find the totems. There is several perks to find totems in the game and they are not that hard to find if you use one of them. This to me sounds more of people complaining that they are running a build that does not counter the killers build and that is totally normal for a game with so many possibilities.
There is several perks to find totems in the game
Counterforce, Detective's Hunch, Clairvoyance, and Small Game. And they're all pretty bad even for being anti-totem perks, except maybe Clairvoyance.
-
Can this bug be made into a feature too, or is this killer finally going to get the fixes he needs?
-
@AetherBytes said:
Just do a totem yourself, even a dull.
Penti starts up? Run for that totem. If it's not penti, wait for the killer to light it and jump on it. As long as you can deny 5 of them the rest can be hunted down.
So just cleanse a totem and wait around doing nothing? A tactic that does nothing to help me find Pentimentos created by other survivors cleansing other totems? Instead of doing gens I should just sit in a corner and wait? The rest can be hunted down, while the killer is exerting insane pressure chasing my SoloQ teammates who all can't do generators because of a single Pentimento?
This is horrible advice, and if this is your only advice then it just validates my original post that this perk is severely unhealthy.
-
I think something is wrong with the system. I may have a bonus on survivor but the queue times are still long, while my killer queues with no bonus are still short.

Never the less, their statement is still 100% accurate. People complained. They got nerfed.
And going from years of using a perk like Adrenaline to… what it became, its a huge difference. To each their own.
And in your last breath, you suffocate all voices that fall short of 'a perk that automatically sacrifices a survivor in endgame.'
Its indeed a disagreement, and I can't help but taste bias here. Balance and viewpoints are usually incompatible on this forum lol.
I remember when NOED wasn't a Hex perk and had literally 0 counter. Nerfs hit everyone, most of them fair.

Im not sure what you're saying. Are you agreeing with @Eelanos?
It's a disagreement. They act like Adrenaline was nerfed significantly, it wasn't, it's still strong. And using Decisive Strike to be effectively invincible in endgame was not the intended purpose of it, it's not an endgame perk, so it's irrelevant.
When killers get a perk that automatically sacrifices any survivors hooked in the endgame, then we'll have some valid complaints.
-
@Eelanos said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3818435#Comment_3818435
That was also the case with perks like Decisive Strike and Adrenaline: They'd sacrifice a slot that could be used for gen speed perks or heal perks for the entire game for a chance that they'd come in clutch at the end game.
Still didn't stop people from complaining and the devs from changing the perks, so the whole "It's an end game build" kinda means nothing.
Adrenaline is still strong and if you didn't use Decisive Strike the entire trial then you weren't tunneled so you didn't need the anti-tunnel perk.

I preferred old Chucky. Playing against Scamper was slightly more interesting than current Chucky who just hits you then dashes and hits you again and that's it, you lose. Boring to play as, boring to play against, and the character's theme is strangled in the process. The fact they took out the thing he does in his own trailer is just sad, but not as sad as current Chucky matches are which are miserable slogs. Even Blight wasn't this annoying.
-
My area has been +25% bonus on survivors yet queue times feel very slow.
-
I would gladly swap the 5k bloodpoints for Iri Shards, even if it was a small number like 50, though I would prefer 100. BHVR is far too stingy with Iri Shards, even when they do giveaways it's usually piddly numbers like 200 to 500.
-
I wish I was going against these killers running 4 aura-reading perks. It'd be a lot more interesting than all these killers I'm actually getting who are all running Pain Res + Pop + Surge, which is a teeth-grinding experience when it feels like it's happening 10 games in a row. Especially in soloQ.
-
Maps need some serious reworking and buffing. Track more generators by default, and add-ons automatically track their relevant item without needing to scout it first. Buff the rainbow map and regular map massively, then add a yellow-rarity map that's equivalent to the regular map as it is right now.
Medkits also need some work. I don't necessarily want them buffed, but I do want them to be diversified like the toolboxes are, so that they have different uses instead of being identical with insignificant number differences.
Speaking of toolboxes, Mechanic's and Engineer's Toolboxes need buffs. It's ridiculous to me that the Commodious is the objectively best toolbox for repairing to the point the other toolboxes are irrelevant.
-
Nemesis and Pyramid Head.
-
I play Jeff, Adam, Zarina, and Gabriel because they all have backstories I can sympathize with, and good character designs too. They're the people I would root to survive if they were in an actual horror story. I also play Yun-Jin and Ace, less because of sympathy and more I just find their characters entertaining. I'm also playing as Jonah more often but that's mostly because I really want his Noir cosmetic set, I'm a sucker for detective stories so dressing straight out of one is very tempting.
I also bought the SH2 bundle with James and Maria skins and I'm definitely going to get my money's worth out of them, especially James.

Blocked gens stay in the state they get locked in. so a kicked one keeps losing % till it unlocks where a unkicked one stays.
No, that's not how it works. Blocked generators have their regression frozen until unblocked.

Exactly my point. How do I have a 150 BP bonus and still have a long wait? My guess .not enough people want to play survivor
A more reasonable guess: a new update and Rift causes a massive influx of players on both sides, because everyone is doing the new Tome challenges, so the matchmaker is overtaxed and has difficulty sorting through everyone. It'll be back to normal this time next week.
-
@Sngfun said:
tbh is not like missed skill checks are that worth it now that people got good
I've been using Corrective Action since the update and I have noticed 1 or 2 tokens being consumed per match. I chalk this up to those skillchecks that happen just as you let go of a generator, usually due to the killer approaching. It does not seem like much but preserving 10% of a generator can be valuable so I'm going to continue running it and see how often it procs.

The terrible team mates are killing the solo que experience.
i have no issues with killers or perks or maps just give me team mates who don't insta give up or hide all game an actually make even the smallest effort.This. If I'm having a bad time in soloQ, it's almost entirely because of my potatohead teammates. They run the killer into generators being worked on. They don't lead the killer away when spotted. They act in the most predictable ways possible. They don't unhook me or teammates even when they're the most ideal player to do so. They go from healthy to downed in 5 seconds. They don't heal. They don't do anything, or if they do something, they're sandbagging everyone else.
But that's what you get when a new Rift opens and everyone floods in to play. People gotta do their survivor challenges.
I am getting sick of someone making a "DbD is dying!" thread every time the BP bonus tips over to survivors, though.
-
I would really like a recolor of his gas station attendant outfit. That's the Dwight cosmetic I want more than any other so I'd be happy to earn a version of it in a Rift.
-
Yeah the free track on this one is pretty bad. I'm hoping the next one is better and includes at least one of the cosmetic contest winners. Still looking forward to those killer skins.

Remember when they said, back when the Skull Merchant's tome was announced, that Deep Rift cosmetics would stop being just blue versions of skins unlocked earlier in the tome? It was stated in a Developer Update, and it made seem that it would change on that upcoming tome… but it never did.
Perhaps it's for the best, though, because a version of the skin that looked unequivocacally better than the other already unlocked would lead to FOMO that requires you to go through the whole rift.
BHVR says a lot of things they never follow up on. Equalizing survivor volumes, a new animation for Dead Hard, making the thumbs-up button do something…

Throw Dissolution and Cut Loose in there too. Both of them are useless.
Dissolution does something, but it's too restricted to do it reliably. To start, it would be nice if they lowered the activation time to 1 second instead of 3.
-
With the Rift closing in less than 12 hours, I'm finishing at level 131.I haven't been playing super active lately but the new Rift will spur me on, because I gotta have those Castlevania skins.
-
If there was any time to do something different, now would be that time. I'd love it if they used red instead.
I wonder if Soma Cruz and True Dracula will get a Deep Rift variations. It would be the first time a Legendary skin would have a variant.
-
It would be nice if we did have some kind of system to incentivize being nicer to each other, instead of adding more ways to act the opposite. BHVR has made references to adding something like that, but it doesn't seem like it's ever going to actually happen.
-
I have seen suggestions of reworking Hexes so the totem only lights up once the Hex becomes activate. For example, Ruin wouldn't appear until a survivor let go of a generator for the first time in a trial. Devour Hope wouldn't appear until a token was gained. Etc.

Yeah, I know that the classic horror movies always have some sort of steamy stuff going on. I wasn't around when they first came out or anything, but those parts never really contributed anything to the experience for me, I more tolerated them than anything else. Honestly I'd say it only ever had a negative impact on the movie because it immediately makes watching the movie with someone else a significantly more akward experience.
Maybe that's why I kinda appreciate the age of internet horror a lot. Yeah it has a lot of schlock and cringey overdone tropes, but at the very least those tropes are used by someone trying to make their story more scary instead of trying to pander to the more horny audience. Even if that audience continues to appear somehow.
So yeah, I guess I'm of the opinion that while horny stuff is undeniably a common trope of classic horror, it's a trope I'm more than fine with leaving behind in the service of making horror scarrier.
We aren't making DbD scarier, though. If anything, nearly every cosmetic lately is some overly-colorful, overly-detailed costume that chokes out any of the game's horror atmosphere that's still barely clinging on.
-
They reverted the dumb Mori change and killed the Corrective Action + Hyperfocus supercombo, while reworking Distortion back into something decent with a commonly-requested redesign. Most of the perk buffs for both killers and survivors are staying which is good because those perks sucked and they needed it.
Overall I feel alright and I'm looking forward to the Halloween event and the next Rift.

I have nothing to say about Lara cause I don’t know the IP but I can defend dnd. There is a Realm known as the shadow fell that is the horror area, vampires ghosts all the fun stuff, the original idea was to use Strahd, an immortal vampire dictator who is cursed to never leave the realm. It would’ve been proper horror but castlevania was the next chapter and they didn’t wish to use 2 vampires right next to each other so they chose vecna because the curse of Vecna story was coming out around the same time,
Sure, Strahd would have been fine, but the D&D chapter is what it is, and I think Vecna and the survivors have really bad designs. Even their other cosmetics look like they're made to be as tacky as possible, like being an adventurer requires wearing only what you can find in thrift shops.
Strahd would have been better but Dracula is the more important vampire, so while I dislike the D&D chapter, if I had to choose between Strahd and Dracula, it would be Dracula any day of the year.
-
No. I'm still rolling my eyes at D&D and Lara Croft.
But I think the first Terminator movie is a straightforward horror flick.

Because it doesn't feel good to be "outplayed" by it. If I'm running the tile correctly and you're running it incorrectly, or missing your power, or losing every 50/50, you shouldn't down me. Tiers 2 and 3 are not needed in modern DbD.
If they're missing their power then they're not getting BL anyway because using their power cancels it.

Edit: My Switch doesn't have them either even though I claimed all 3.
Make sure your Twitch account is linked to the proper game accounts?

I think the devs addressed fair amount of toxic behaviours from both sides as flashlight clacking and Mori canceling, but they need to do more imo for the exit gate t baging and the killer slugging the survivors and going back and forth on the ground.
You know how killers get a penalty to their emblem points if they camp a hook? I want the same thing for survivors idling in the exit gates. I want their emblems to tank if they spend longer than 15 seconds sitting in the exit gate area, doing nothing. Healing at the exit gate would reset this, because healing for bonus points in the endgame is fine, but if they're just standing there, there should be a penalty.
This won't do a lot to dissuade the truly toxic players but it's better than nothing and may nudge the more chill players into making a habit of Just Leaving.

I just want normal clothes worn by normal people. I'm tired of all this fashion model stuff. Most cosmetics are overly-detailed nowadays.

They haven't told us why, but the most common theory is that they probably plan to sell moris in the store in the near future. We see recent skins that come with special moris, so it's not an unreasonable theory. I guess trying to spotlight moris by making them available in every game to finish it off is their selling point. The Finisher Mori change has never been popular but they keep pushing ahead with it anyway.
This theory doesn't make sense to me, because locking Moris behind 4Ks would make them harder to get than the offerings do. The casual killer player is not stomping every match.

The two most common thoughts I have while playing soloQ survivor:
"Why aren't you doing gens?"
"Why are you doing gens instead of unhooking?"
