Please do elaborate how that is a strawman. Under what premise was BNP nerfed, and under what premise is people requesting to remove full slugs and 4k slugs through the addition of self pick ups.
And also, "wreck the balance of the game" is your assumption, not a reality. And even if you were right, a change like that would have follow up patches to rebalance the game around it were it to actually mess up with kill rates.
Please do elaborate how that is a strawman.
"The only reason you disagree with this is because you're a selfish and ignorant killer main who doesn't know how hard it is to be survivor!"
That's a strawman. You just making up nonsense assumptions about people and painting them unflattering colors so you can dismiss them or distract from the actual discussion. I could just as easily call you an entitled survivor main who hates losing so you want any and all advantages a killer has stripped out of the game, but that would be rude and dishonest.
Also comparing BNP stacking to killers downing survivors and survivors just wanting to undo the killer's advantage for free is the most hilarious and absurd thing you could have possibly come up with. One of the most potent item add-ons in the game versus a basic and core aspect of gameplay. It's also very charitable to assume BHVR would balance the game in a way that works after adding Unlimited Unbreakables, and I'm sure there'd be very many complaints about any compensation offered to killers in the wake of that.
How's this for balance: if the survivors complete all 5 gens and the killer has less than 4 hooks, 3 of the generators just break themselves and reset back to 0 and the survivors have to fix them again. That's fair, right? Since we can just take one side's success away whenever we feel like it, regardless of context or causes.

I mean, I main Jane and I feel reasonably justified in complaining about Mikaela/Sable oversaturation, even though Jane is much better off in the cosmetics department than some of DBD's most neglected children. That Character You Forgot About mains do exist, we're just not a sizeable enough wallet demographic to influence anything, which is presumably where the complaints started… and a lot of people bandwagoned onto the message to virtue-signal. Which was great for signal boosting, but not for convincing BHVR that actually making Haddie outfits was worthwhile after they tried it once or twice and got very little for it.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3805197#Comment_3805197
Gabe hurts me. It's like they keep trying to push "the survivor from the future!" onto everything he gets, with fifteen exclamation points, and it invariably turns out wacky. Or it's a linked set. I desperately want him to win the survivor cosmetic contest because it's something that actually looks good.
I'm fine with Gabriel having futuristic outfits, the problem is their future fashion design is bad. They keep overcomplicating it or choosing the most tacky ideas. It's like they're taking notes from The Fifth Element instead of… any other movie. Even Star Wars and Star Trek didn't dress this silly. Give me a slightly fancy boilersuit, that's all.

I'm pretty sure alot don't play her. She simply provides a convenient excuse for them to rail against survivors like Feng, Mikaela, and Sable, who get alot of cosmetics. Because they're not wrong when they say "they get too many and poor Haddie gets barely anything," no one can argue with that, but they also arent necessarily saying that they play Haddie and will buy any cosmetics she does get.
Gabriel has it worse for cosmetics than Haddie does. At least Haddie has a handful of outfits that don't look hideous.

I need people that think stuff like "Nooo, but killers' job is to incapacitate you, your job is to avoid it" to actually ruin their 100% Killer play ratio and play at least one game where they're slugged for several minutes so they finally understand that speedrunning their objective by just refusing to hook is an incredibly unhealthy gameplay pattern and should not exist in the game.
Keep in mind survivors had the ability to instantly repair generators and no killer liked it. Slugging survivors to skip 8 entire hook states is about the same as that was back then.
I have had it happen to me before, because I play both roles in roughly equal measure. No, it wasn't fun, but losing is never fun, and I didn't immediately leap onto the forums to make a sob story post about it and demand completely unreasonable changes that would wreck the balance of the game. It also happens so rarely that I can't treat it as anything other than fringe cases.
Sorry to burst your strawman bubble.

Now that you've reminded me of that cosmetic, it's going to be really funny if Bedsheet Ghost Dredge is one of the community contest winners, considering what's on Haddie's shirt.

I just want regular security guard Mike Schmidt.
Failing that, at least give Dwight a Freddy Fazbear's security guard outfit.

Nah, just go back a year or so ago when the game was actually playable for solo q and casual survivors. There were hardly any killers lol. People will only play killer if they have a huge advantage and any time 3 gens are done without a down it's a pretty certain DC for the killer. Sad that the steamroll only happens on the killer side in solo q and casual most of the time but I guess that's how it has to be to get people to play killer.
A year ago was Xenomorph and original Ultimate Weapon, and original Made For This and Buckle Up + For The People.
Game is better now than it was then.

Well maybe if the game was catered around low skill survivors instead of low skill killers that might be true.
If you wanted to cater to low-skill survivors, you'd have to remove the killer completely. And they'd still find reasons to ragequit.
-
No they won't.
-
I need bedsheet ghost Dredge, 90s desktop Singularity, and trenchcoat detective Unknown.
Nothing else matters to me. Not a big fan of most of the survivor submissions, and most of the badges and banners are good.
But those killer designs are 11/10. Singularity and Unknown really need new cosmetics, too.
-
Yes, I was supportive of the ideas in the survey, and was pleasantly surprised to see them. Variable weather and time for maps would help freshen them up quite a bit and I hope BHVR can work something out in that regard. I simply want to enhance the atmosphere of the game.
-
I jumped at the chance to show support for improved map atmosphere. I'd love to bring the bouquets back and let them tweak the times of day. I also support offerings to tweak the weather too.
-
I didn't vote Teletubbies, but I did vote Scooby-Doo.

You should not be forced to bring perks to avoid that…
You bring perks to help avoid being killed by the killer, that's what they exist for.
@Gplays2000 said:
I was being generous xD and they are even against that :,D Since I don't want survivors to easily be able to pick themselves up since I play both roles too. But after a whole minute of being slugged you should definitely be able to pick yourself back up.
Yeah, generous to survivors. No one would ever have to be picked up from being downed if they could do it automatically after 60 seconds, they could just stick to generators and ignore it.
Basekit Unbreakable is a bad idea and always will be a bad idea.
-
Finisher Mori requires them to chase and down you before they can kill you. You can still find hatch, same as before.

My argument is that slugging survivors isn’t the killer’s goal. It starts and ends there, really.
The kiler's goal is to kill the survivors. Slugging can be a tactic used to accomplish that. Therefore, slugging is pursuing the killer's goal of killing the survivors.

Killing survivors doesn’t incapacitate them because they’re no longer in the game.
Incapacitate means to block or inhibit… Not eliminate or remove.
This is so incredibly pedantic, it's funny. You have no real argument at all, you're just nitpicking words and making things up.

The killer’s goal is to eliminate survivors (as in kill them and at this point they can enter another match), not incapacitate them…
I wasn't aware killing survivors wasn't incapacitating them. I guess their ghosts are repairing generators?
-
All the devs needed to do was this:
- Make yellow Mori basekit.
- Update yellow Mori to let you kill 1 survivor.
- Update green Mori to let you kill 2 survivors.
- Red Mori remains the same.
Nobody cares about these completely worthless bloodpoint bonuses to 4Ks that rarely happen for the casual killer player.
Everybody cares about their cool kill animation getting taken away from them.

Shouldn't killers get punished for leaving one of the players in an uninteractive state for literally over a minute? Idk about you but IMO they should get punished… Staying on the ground for over 60 seconds and basically being forced to bring a perk for this situation is truly misery in itself and should not happen. The solution is called pick someone up before 60 seconds…they literally get a whole minute? If they don't want to that person gets to pick himself up and continue playing the game….
Shouldn't killers get punished for leaving one of the players in an uninteractive state for literally over a minute?
No. Their entire goal is to incapacitate you. Your goal is to avoid that. That's what the game is.
-
It shouldn't have to be a choice between this or that. We should have both. This update ruins Moris as an offering, and basekit Mori at 4K is not enough to compensate, and bloodpoint bonuses for 4Ks are definitely not enough to compensate.
Again, we should have both, not one or the other.
-
That's not incentivizing, that's punishing. And there are many situations where killers are already punished for trying to pick up survivors, so you're just applying punishments no matter what they do. That's not how you fix problems.
-
I'm glad to hear that. Lucky Star isn't an amazing perk but mapwide teammate reveal was handy to have on occasions, so it should stay.
-
Everything I like has either already been nerfed, or has been buffed. I fear nothing anymore. Goodbye Skull Merchant, I hope you do not return with your dumb drones and terrible lore and goofy bedazzled gas mask that doesn't even do anything.

Just put the flashlight away and do gens.

I really hope it is Sam. One of the few characters I actually liked.
From what I've seen nearly all the characters are annoying as hell, like most Supermassive titles, but Sam is alright, he's cool.
-
Sable is definitely a corny weirdo. I hope BHVR leans into that instead of acting like she is a cool badass girlboss, 'cuz she sure ain't. I can't take her seriously, and I don't want to take her seriously, I think she should be funny in a tongue-in-cheek way (in contrast to Mikaela who is just dull).
They definitely do need to reel it in with the cosmetics, though. She doesn't need to be a fashionista, they should take some notes from punk looks and dabble them in. Simpler with a slight edge, not costumes. I'd like her green-rarity skins if it wasn't for the silly haircut they come with, they should stick to styles like those and her base outfit.

I highly doubt they're changing gens, but it's so blatantly obvious we're getting a Frank Stone chapter that it's hard to take the game seriously on its own merits.
I also couldn't take Frank Stone seriously, for… a lot of reasons.
-
Just wait until we get the Soma Cruz skin next Rift. I'm hoping he'll be a close match to Alucard's majesty, but in a modern package.
It's gonna be real funny seeing matches of Dracula killing what are essentially 4 teenage clones of himself.
-
Nothing has changed. I still get useless teammates as survivor and I still get toxic meta squads as killer.
-
Sandbagging in DbD is when you inconvenience or sabotage your fellow survivors by getting in their way while they're fleeing the killer. You are a figurative sandbag in their path, slowing them down or outright blocking them.
-
Fun to play, but has some clunk problems. Wolf pounce feels situational and very difficult to aim, especially on controller. Buttons are laggy and unresponsive sometimes, needs polish.
-
Movies and TV: Halloween, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Evil Dead 1 2 Army of Darkness and Ash vs. Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street (remake), SAW (1 2 and 3), Stranger Things, Scream, Hellraiser, Ringu, Alien, Child's Play 1 and 2.
Games: Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Silent Hill (1 2 and 3), Resident Evil 2 and 3 (remakes), Resident Evil 5, Alan Wake 1 and 2, Tomb Raider (remake), Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (and a lot of other Castlevanias too).

I thought soma was coming as a Re-skin and not a legendary?
Nope, the devstream said it was a legendary skin.
-
Rebecca does need more outfits, like her RE0 costumes and that basketball uniform she has in that photo in RE2. I also want Ada to receive her RE4make outfit, and Nemesis to get a classic skin based on his original RE3 design. Leon has more outfits from the remakes as well as RE6 that BHVR could include. Jill also has more outfits they could include, like her winter op uniform from Umbrella Chronicles; same for Wesker, I'll take anything for him, no matter how obscure.
For other licenses, I wish Ash Williams got a young version of himself. I wanna play the Ash from Evil Dead 2, not the TV show.

Really? Because I really don't feel represented as a killer main, as most of them don't even look human and the straight white males among them tend to be murderous. And even then, I main Singularity.
I don't know why anyone would need to connect to a game character any other way aside from motives and personality, not sexuality.
Thanos worked in Infinity War not because there are a lot of giant purple people with streaks on their chin, but because you relate to his ideals and hardcore commitment to his cause. And he was right according to his own experiences.
That's how you connect. Like what, if Feng Min all of a sudden got revealed to be trans, would you be happy? If anything I'd say:
Let's just leave sexuality out of the ######### murder game. I'm not against characters being LGBTQ, I'm against anyone's sexuality being open for whatever reason. Who gives a #########? You know what comes after an explicitly trans character gets put into the game? Then people start tunneling the trans character, causing more problems.
But instead, if we keep it a secret where everyone sticks their genitals to, nothing bad happens.
Way I see it, it doesn't really matter to me what a survivor's sexuality is, because they're going to get stomped to death by a perverted fat clown, among other really brutal and terrible ways to die, no matter who or what they are.
I'm LGBT but, speaking solely for myself, I don't care much for representation. Would it be nice if there was a character that shared my traits? Sure, I guess, but this is a horror game, so such things are not very important to the themes of terror and brutality. And more importantly, for anyone to accuse BHVR of not caring about the LGBT community is straight-up laughable.

This perk is such dumb design and a noob trap. You can easily find chests and especially gens without using this perk, and the boon range is decent, but not big enough to reveal more than like 1 chest and 1 gen.
Why would you want to break totems or bless a new totem when you already have a boon down?
Seriously, give Alan Wake an actually decent boon, because he deserves it. It doesn't even come close to Dark Theory's power level.
the boon range is decent, but not big enough to reveal more than like 1 chest and 1 gen.
What do you mean by this? The boon reveals everything on the map, not what's in its range.
-
@Ayodam said:
Simon and Leon could have been legendary too. They’re separate characters from Trevor. But I guess BHVR didn’t want all of Trevor’s cosmetics to be legendary.
Every legendary skin needs its own voice actor. Not to mention additional lines from Dracula if they want to maintain consistency between the unique dialogues with Dracula, Trevor, and Alucard.
Most Legendary skins come out on a drip-feed basis. It's taken two years for Resident Evil and Silent Hill to amass all their legendary skins, and it's exceptional that Alan Wake got two in short order (but that was a smaller survivor-only chapter anyway).
Not to mention Konami may have rules and restrictions on what they'll allow. The upcoming Rift is based entirely on the DS games in order to advertise the Dominus Collection they just released. Maybe if they do Rondo of Blood or Symphony of the Night remasters, that could lead to a legendary Richter skin being approved.

If a survivor searches 2 chests, then gets knocked to the ground, the perk needs to deactivate, so it doesn’t become a reusable Unbreakable.
And it would have the perk text more complicated to say “if the survivor gets knocked to the ground after only 1 search then the survivor keeps the 1 search, but if they get knocked to the ground after 2 searches then the progress gets completely reset”
Are you not reading my posts or something? I've never talked about the perk continuing to work while downed after it's already been activated by 2 searches. It's fine for it to deactivate if the survivor is downed while it's active with the 60 second timer.
For the other part… you don't need to add text. Just remove the mechanic that wipes the 1 search upon being downed. Because it's an unnecessary constraint.
-
Good idea but I'd save it for a whole new perk. For Self-Preservation, I do want it to be good. I would increase the range to 24 meters, the time limit to 15 seconds, and also have it silence rushed actions while active.
-
Making Alucard a killer would be like making Michael Myers a survivor.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
It resets when a survivor gets knocked to the ground, so it can’t be used as an Unbreakable perk.
And it requires 2 unlocking or rummaging actions, because if the survivor also has a perk like Appraisal, they can easily unlock and rummage the same chest to meet the 2 action requirement. …And having it be changed to a 1 event, means a survivor with Appraisal can activate the perk just with an extremely quick rummaging action.
None of that is what I'm talking about. I didn't even mention reducing the number of search actions.
I'm talking about how you need to search two chests, so if you search one chest then the perk is halfway activated, but if you get downed while it's half-activated then its progress is reset to zero, meaning you have to start over from scratch.

I think spending over a minute locating and booning a totem just to see generators that you can already see the location of due to the gigantic spotlights on top of them is infinitely less useful than a perk that has at least given me trouble on nurse for messing up my muscle memory while this perk I've just never seen in a match period
I saw Illumination last week. I think it's been months since I've seen Dark Theory. Or, more likely, Dark Theory is so ridiculously weak that I cannot notice when it's doing anything.
Illumination also helps track which generators are done and which aren't. That alone can be more useful than 2% Haste in some nowhere corner of the map where boons always end up.
